I will give it a shot tonight and see how things go. For example, I head to Dragon’s Stand and I have yet to get into a map that has had enough folks to field the map event. In Auric Basin its hit or miss with having enough to field events, Tangled Depths is the same story. Verident Brink (spelling may be wrong) I usually see more than enough folks to field events.
Is it just that most players haven’t progressed enough yet to be all over the different maps?
Or they’ve gotten their elites and are now doing the temp Halloween events.
I mean TD for example, we literally tried to taxi people in and it would say it was full. But we know for fact it wasn’t because the map was just dead. No events were being completed, nobody was running around, it was just a mess.
You know another great way to test a build? A stopwatch (built into every modern phone).
You do not have any need to know the exact damage numbers. Are you having the right amount of fun per second spent murdering poor, hapless mobs?
That is the only thing that matters.
What does that even mean? Fun is had when your build is optimized and you know you are doing everything you can to help your team. I don’t understand people who think there is only one type of fun and that people who like to maximize dps don’t have it.
This is no good, the mouse isn’t precise enough…. I just end up with hand cramps because the mouse jumps too much with each movement and I just try to go back and forth.
So I realized that we never got a hat this year for Halloween. As a person who has played Guild Wars since the beginning of GW1 I am very sad to see the lack of a hat this year.
The point of the system is to give you an alternative to farming gold to get the precursor. You aren’t supposed to just buy all the items off the TP.
Way to miss the purpose entirely.
And as far as the cost goes, HoT just launched. Everyone is trying out the new system causing the price of things to go up with demand which is why precursor prices are falling because less people are just buying a completed one.
The point of the changes was to give an option of bypassing the trading post and RNG entirely. Anyone who thought this would be easy or a short method was kidding themselves.
It isn’t about it being short or easy, it costs the same as just buying the precursor outright. Its a bunch of extra steps for no reason at all.
Didn’t they fix this already? I experienced low-population maps on the first weekend after launch but since then I see a healthy number of people everywhere.
No, they haven’t. My guild couldn’t get more than 50 people into an otherwise empty map in Tangled Depths last night. We tried 5 maps and the lack of people on the map even without us was obvious.
Selling every fractal reward you get does not constitute liquid currency.
Thats not my problem.
But it is what this post is about, it is what John Smith said in his mini AMA.
Selling every fractal reward you get does not constitute liquid currency.
So, I thought they said fractals would give more gold when they nerfed dungeon gold but it appears that fractals actually give less gold now? Why do the devs want only like 1% of the population who play the TP all day to have gold and players who actually enjoy the content get shafted and can’t afford anything?
No, this was a good change. Making hero challenges group events was a foolish mistake from the beginning.
Lunatic guard outfit female version doesn’t work..
Can’t use the stat changing recipe to swap stats on the ascended breathers.
Using a glider completely turns off your mini, you have to manually turn it back on. It should probably be hidden but to be completely turned off is annoying and hopefully a bug.
There were some datamined sword and dagger that look like belindas greatsword but smaller. Maybe in HoT. Also what the hell is up with your account name? lol

Or not answer questions
Whether something is balanced towards a tier of gear doesn’t mean that you cannot complete it in lower tiered armor. Also be aware the the thing that most people complain about in regards to ascended is the cost of the armor despite it only contributing around 2% of damage over exotic.
2%? Might want to recheck that math.

We have this discussion every week, and unless you can show numbers to back up the 2-3 times claim, I can’t believe it.
Prices might have gone up since I last did the calculations, but there’s no way light armor costs more than 1/3 more than medium armor, much less 2-3 times as much.
These are just the cloth/leather/metal costs. A full suit of armor costs something like 400 gold, but most of the other elements are the same regardless of what weight you’re wearing.

I’ll simplify it for you.
I wanted to play the new content as my Herald.
Not play the new content to get a herald at the end.
Ok lets take this example.
You want to play Herald in HoT this means you’re starting a NEW Rev, right?
You now need to level it (with tomes or regularly), by leveling you GAIN Hero points.
You reach 80 having SAVED enough Hero points to unlock Herald’s skills, traits etc.
You now SPEND those Hero points on Herald mechanics.
Congratulations you now get to play HoT as a Herald.
Incorrect, Colin literally said you need to unlock all the core stuff to unlock the elite spec.

It seems like intentionally trying to make the content of HoT take longer by making you grind out elite specs first. Elite specs aren’t content, they’re just a spec. Most people want to play as them, PvP gets to play with them day 1, other gamemodes have to grind out hero challenges, and most of them I can only imagine are locked behind mastery gates. Like places you can only get to if you have upgraded gliding or mushrooms.

I don’t have enough points for mine yet (120/170), don’t expect to by launch… I also don’t expect to unlock an entire specialization on day one of an expansion.
120/400* Anyway, I did expect that, People should be able to get their specs so they can practice with them and make builds for raids.
If there were, they’d be in the hairstyle/makeover kits so, yeah.
kittenting all over PvE guilds.
It does present a problem with elite specializations. Before we were given exactly enough points to unlock everything, fine. Now they presumably want more for the elite specs?
Translation: grinding HP. I wish we could unlearn some stuff we do not need.
Does someone know actually how much hero points will it cost to unlock all of the elite specialization? I already have way more hero point than I can spend and I really didn’t grind them.
The current number we have for elite specs is 170 hero points. + 40 more for each of the 2 elite spec specific skins coming out to 250 hero points. You can currently get 214 hero points + have all of core unlocked in the game.
Just 5 minutes after reading this I had a guy on my sPvP team talk kitten about me for losing a 1 v 3. And I don’t mean the usual some guy killed me and started talking kitten I mean my teammate started talking kitten to me because I got jumped by 3 people at a point and lost it. Apparently I should have run away from a mesmer, a ranger and a warrior. Anyway, PvP definitely has the most toxic community.
Probably the latter, but I think it would be cool if they give people with wing based backpieces special glider skins that correspond to them.
Looked it up, he was suspended, not banned, so I was close but not entirely accurate.

“Just going to clear this up…GM was called to the situation after multiple reports filed from a players for Griefing.
Player’s client language was set to English
Player received multiple warnings via Whisper (Whisper) in English
Player was moved from the map and placed in a different instance of the map (in case they were actually farming something useful rather than griefing)
Player attempted multiple times to zone back into this specific version of the map, eventually was successful
Returned to previous behavior
An attempt was made to make sure that the GM got this player’s attention
After attempting to contact the player one more time in whispers and in say chat (shown in screenshot), user was given a temporary suspension for griefing. If you are toxic, and are being so knowingly and intentionally…expect a time out. Many people have quoted the Rules of Conduct. It is enforced."
Yes, farming ambients for the achievement it totally legit.
However, the issue at hand is specifically players killing ambients to prevent/disrupt someone else from farming them.
Doing that is against the ToS in no uncertain terms.Which is why I suggest recording such incidents and reporting them.
A mod/GM can determine whether someone was simply not being courteous, or was genuinely griefing.
That is just outrageous and looks like blatant abuse by a GM. Killing anything for any reason is perfectly legit. Anet blatantly took sides over which player has the right to farm what. Which is ironic since anets anti-farm mentality is usually to ban people who discover good farms anyway.
I have to dig up more pictures to show the changes between some of my other characters but here is my necro.
I honestly think this elite specialization was designed purposely to hinder Guardian and I don’t think it will be savable with a complete mechanic overhaul. But for the sake of constructive criticism I will share the most important part of that overhaul and if even just that makes it I think it will appease at least some of the problems. All the rooting skills need to go, a ranged weapon with a root is so contradictory it doesn’t even make sense. The raids are so active, people moving around, people dodging, blocking, running and then you have Dragonhunter who has to stop and stand still like a moron to use it’s best attacks.
Yes, you’re one of the 3 people in this game who can’t accept that Anet shafted Guardian out of a useful elite spec and a ranged weapon that doesn’t suck. It is a hard pill to swallow but the evidence is right there in the elite spec. The entire spec is a contradiction. A ranged weapon that roots (negating the purpose of ranged, aka kiting) and traps (which are just bad and worthless in general) that have a cast time, deploy time, and an arming time + a cooldown. Not to mention that traps and a longbow don’t make any sense together because they’re used in opposing playstyles.
If you want people to take you seriously, play necro long enough to understand how ignorant it is to say ‘they have two lives’ or don’t comment on it at all..
But they do have two lives…. I have 3 necros and that is just a fact. It is more ignorant to deny that they have two lives than to say they do.
Okay, I’m not understanding the argument here.
In GW1 there was a dedicated healing class: the monk. All character classes had skills to heal themselves, however, when in larger groups, having 1 or 2 extra healers was a boon. Their presence allowed the other 6 characters (largest group was 8, not counting pets/minions/spirits/summoning stones) to max out on damage and not worry much about healing themselves. Even among the other 6, if those were heros, their builds could be modified to keep the main character (player directed) healthy while still doing max damage. So, I don’t understand the problem of certain classes having greater group healing ability. Stop your whining and learn to play in the group. And for those classes with greater healing – stop being one-side. Your party is depending on you. Keep the tank healthy. Heal the supports. Supports, make certain the healer(s) don’t go down. They should be to the rear of the action. Don’t let anything get to them.
Now, for the experienced players, that sounds like a reiteration of what you already know. So, go with it. You know what needs be done. For those who have never played where they are dependent on the rest of the group – that’s the basic group tactic.
Don’t shoot the messenger.
By-the-by, this was also the tactic employed in WoW. Still is as far as I know.
Oh, and if you’re in too much of a hurry to wait for a healer, better examine why you’re playing the game. Entertainment, enjoyment and relaxation is the key. NOT grinding, shoving, pushing, hassling, harassing, trolling, intimidating, demeaning, etc.
Nothin’ but Love. You dont get it. Some dev (who probably doesnt work at anet anymore) said in a brief statement 3 months before launch that there will be no “trinity” like in other mmos (seems he meant that every class will be able to do every role, so you wont have to wait for a specific healing class to log on, but thats not how people take it).
Anyway since then that statement has been taken as meaing there will never be any use for healing or tanking at any point in the game no matter what. And as these people spent a whole $50 on this game 3 years ago that makes them shareholders, so the devs better not make them mad!
I don’t think either of you are getting the point. And I certainly don’t appreciate your ridiculous strawman.
“seems he meant that every class will be able to do every role, so you wont have to wait for a specific healing class to log on, but thats not how people take it” Even this isn’t true as only 2/9 classes are able to be healers.
No, we didn’t pay $50 3 years ago, we paid $50+ dollars a few months ago, with the promise of challenging raids. Not the promise of cheap content that doesn’t require any skill just a hard class requirement for druid.
clearly missed the point
you can do all of this in 0 defense gear
water fields blast finishers
frost aura
protectionThere you go, no defense gear required. Nothing to see here folks, move along.
What are you talking about? Who said anything about defense gear? This is about the blatant dedicated healer requirement. Whether that be a water Ele or a Druid you need a healer because the constant damage tick cannot be avoided no matter how skilled you are. It is removing skill play in favor of cheap gimmicks and removing the ability to form a party with anybody you encounter and clear content.
I am perfectly fine with the concept of challenging content but if challenging content comes with an inflexible requirement for 1 of only 2 classes that can fulfill a role than the path that anet had set forth at launch is about 3 miles in the other direction.
Now you might mention that in the dungeon meta that certain classes are left out, and while that is true I’d like to mention that just because a class wasn’t meta doesn’t mean they couldn’t do the content. But in this case that is exactly what this means, it means that unless you’re a water Ele or a Druid you simply cannot heal the raid group through the constant damage ticking of 1,000 damage a tick. No other class has the sustained healing ability of those two classes. Maybe Revenant(I admittedly haven’t tried it myself), but from what I hear their healing stance isn’t up to par.
In any case, if this is the direction anet is going then fine I will have no choice but to accept that. But I can’t imagine they thought it would be a good idea to institute a hard requirement that is limited to only a quarter of their classes.
1k damage ticks, mmm yeah.
So much for being able to grab any party and do content. Get ready for raid delays when you’re sitting around waiting for your healer to get on. It is really sad when you can’t come up with good mechanics so you resort to cheap tactics like constant ticking damage. That isn’t challenging its just cheap.
A healer should be helpful support not a hard requirement. Especially since only two classes in the game will actually be capable of putting out the heals required for a tick of that level. Druid and Ele are the only classes capable of being sustained healers.
This happens with hero challenges in WvW as well.
Could we get some sort of reply on this? You know hero points are an important thing to get right now. A lot of people are trying to get them all before HoT and we can’t.
I am having this same issue, but I am only having it in Drytop, Silverwastes and WvW.
After further experimenting with various characters and zones I’ve concluded this only seems to be happening to me in WvW/Drytop/Silverwastes. Very weird indeed.
Okay, nevermind the showing as completed. I see that the uncompleted hero challenges are a filled in yellow now. I am still having issues with the crashing every time I complete a hero challenge though.
Hero challenges are showing as completed even if they are not completed. If I do complete them the game crashes. I confirmed with 4 different hero challenges.
As title states… in the previous announcement regarding raids, they stated HoT would come WITH Raids.
Please see https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/designing-challenging-content/
AND I QUOTE-
“Our goal for introducing Raids with the release of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns™ is to give players the truly challenging group content you’ve been asking for.”So will there be refunds for the preorder available to those who ordered HoT based upon the false belief that ANET as a company gave us in that statement? I ordered based upon having Raids AVAILABLE at HoT launch as did MANY others… and I am sure that them like myself are completely let down by this information that Raids will be delayed to some time “before the holidays”…
They said 2 weeks… Calm yourself.
That is what raids are… get into a team or pug it and hope you get somewhere. This is how raids work in basically every game ever.
No, this site is perfectly fine. If you don’t want to share your account, you simply don’t. If you have something to hide from groups with gear checks you shouldn’t be in their group anyway.
So, a bunch of people have already 100% world completed on all of their characters. Now these people are being punished because they actually played the game? Will we be getting retroactive mastery progression from these acts? Or do we basically get punished for having done the core content before HoT comes out? If it is the latter then it is pretty much outrageous. It isn’t like a dungeon or an event where you can be told to go do it again because it is a one time completion. Basically, I request and demand retroactive progression.
If people are not disapointed with the lack of trinity then why are there thousands of posts complaining about the zerk meta?
Because people want to play with what they want to play, and want everyone to accept them that way. Most of the complaints about the current dungeon meta stem from a desire to get into any dungeon group with the least amount of effort and time spent waiting, especially without having to start a group. Sure, there are people who want dedicated roles, but of the complaints, they make up less than half.
The bad news incoming is that the talked-about changes will do nothing to prevent exclusion. In fact, there will be more exclusion, because harder content will encourage the exclusion of those whose play is marginal in current PvE. There are a lot more of those players than you might think. The complaints about lack of trinity will be dwarfed by the complaints if average play is not sufficient to beat HoT’s “hard” content.
That is the funny part isn’kitten The same people who are trying to champion trinity will be the same ones crying about it a few weeks/months into HoT as they are still not welcome into parties. They think that somehow trinity will translate into play as you want instead of the reality that will be a different meta which will be something like "clerics druid, zerker ele, zerker ele, scrapper, etc. etc. etc
They’re basically not going to like that nothing has changed except that instead of being told to wear zerker by everybody they’ll be told to wear something else by everybody.
This is a happy day for all of the GW vets who were waiting for something going back to the golden times.
People can finally play some important roles beside the toxic zerker meta.Druid heavy healer and the talks about dusting off the tank characters is indeed a Franchise saving day for all responsible gamer.
What are you talking about? Druid is a healing class, I don’t know where you’re getting anything about tanks. This game has no tanking mechanics whatsoever. I can see groups needing some support to help stay alive in some of the harder encounters especially early on while the mechanics are being figured out, a trinity this is not and I foresee great disappointment for you.
Guardians definitely get the shaft.
- Longbow is weak and half the attacks root you.
- Traps aren’t ranged which contradicts the point of the longbow.
- Traps have too long of a cooldown and activation time to be useful.
- Breaks core virtues and related traits
- No 25% movement speed trait or signet, so still slowest class in existence.
Ok so 3 years is not to long? I am sorry but that is insane, I have played many mmorpgs never heard of things that take more then 6 months to get.
Nah, you can craft one in like 3 months if you really wanted it. It all comes down to how much time/effort/gold you want to put into it.
I’ll correct you one last time
it was pure RNG.thats not correcting me, thats you continuously claiming that putting the mats in and having a 50% chance of getting exactly what you’re after is somehow unacceptable RNG.
you had a ton of mats and you consider a 50% chance as some impossible RNG barrier?2. and i can’t believe you’re still not getting this.
IT WAS A PVP ONLY SKIN,
read it slowly, ONLY…OBTAINABLE…VIA…CRAFTING…IN…PVP.
read it afew more times…“PvP crafting materials will be removed from the game, so be sure to craft anything you want before the April 15 update.”
shock horror, 4 months pass, pvp materials are removed and WOW you can’t get the armour that was only craftable with pvp materials, WOW!
noone would have saw that coming!honestly i don’t believe you can be so…
1) no, it was luck. Not just one type of luck but multiple levels of luck involving getting the correct mats and then getting the correct piece.
2) Also no, it WAS a PvP only skin, then they said that they were combining skins between the two game types, there was no warning that it would be going away. Don’t make kitten up, it is simply unjustified.
All in all, you’re wrong. and from what I’ve seen of this conversation you’re just afraid of no longer being a special snowflake. Maybe it is because you lack any real accomplishment or maybe you’re just that type of person who likes to flaunt what you have in the faces of people who don’t. Either way it isn’t the type of person this community needs or wants.
You forget players who just started having to cough up several gold for rewards that offfer noting to gameplay..
After 14 days the casual has 2 maybe 5 gold? having nop clue what top do and trying to grab WP’s in area’s where he /she should do events..
I can’t recall what event it was but this was the same thing last time, when the event occured it was a gold sink a new players back then were pretty much left out. I wonder which event it was. maybe it was when the Moa gambling racing was around…
The difference here being that GW2 just went F2P. There is a reason this event only happens in some low level zones.
Really.. and of course those “new” low level players really enjoy being insta zapped by a vet mordy, or enjoy spending all their coin trying to WP across the map repeatedly trying to keep pace with events that they see spawn… only to find when they get there that they are already finished or have to hope someone revives them before the event ends so they can tag a kill .
Even if they do tag a kill they have to grind endlessly for 4 days to even hope to sniff one of the rewards… ooh wait, of course ANET maybe are banking that the F2P players will dip into their credit card balances and buy some gems in order to convert to gold and be able to afford the skins…. that’s the real reason they have been situated on these maps.
Don’t forget that all of those new mobs and events don’t give any rewards or experience or anything you’d normally expect from a mob or an event. It is confusing, random, and downright poor event design.
