Yeah, I was a bit disappointed there wasn’t much on pve, and that most of those things were already discussed. I’m glad they are working on things, but they seem to never bring up new stuff.
Edit:
“Swap Predator’s Instinct(20;V) in Marksmanship with Off-Hand Training(20;VII) in Wilderness Survival.” is wrong, I forgot to edit that. I read Predator’s Instinct wrong, I thought for some reason it said it would apply cripple to a foe when you are below 25%. I meant to change this and find something else to possibly swap, but never did. I suggested Off-Hand Training be in marksman for the condition duration.

These are just my opinions on how to change the ranger a bit. Instead of just complaining about how rangers are, I figure I would actually post some feedback about how I think the ranger should be. In my opinion, the ranger isn’t in a good state and needs some work. If anyone else wants to give their feedback please do so, but keep it clean and informative.
General
-Make pets F2 instant
-Fix pet tracking
-Pet drops aggro when he goes down
-Give pets a dodge that the player can control
-Reduce aoe damage to pets
-Reduce pet swap when your pet is fully down
Traits
-Swap Trapper’s Expertise(20;VIII) in Skirmishing with Martial Mastery(20;X) in Wilderness Survival.
-Swap Predator’s Instinct(20;V) in Marksmanship with Off-Hand Training(20;VII) in Wilderness Survival.
-Put Trap Potency(30;XI) from Skirmishing in Wilderness Survival.
I feel these changes fit with the stat upgrades that the trait lines give you, and that wilderness survival should be more focused on traps, while marksmanship and skirmishing be more focused on weapon damage.
Weapons
LongBow:
-Decrease Long Range Shot channel time slightly.
-Make Hunter’s Shot have a short cast time. If the Long Range Shot cast time is decreased, finding a spot to fire Hunter’s Shot will be a bit hard without interrupting your own cast.
-Remove the range at damage mechanic. This makes the weapon a bit too situational. It’s good at open world events, but in dungeons have little room at times.
-Fix barrage so that if you get interrupted the recharge is shorter. Or reduce the channel time/change the rate at which arrows fall so if you do get interrupted, you get more damage in. (Example video)
Shortbow:
-Possibly buff the auto attack damage.
-Chance the side/back bleed mechanic. Change it so it will apply a bleed every two attack. (Could prove to be overpowered)
I feel the shortbow need more verity to it. In most situations you’re spamming the auto attack and Poison Volley occasionally. The other abilities could serve purpose in open world events and dungeons, but I don’t find myself using them much.
Utilities
I hear the spirits need to be worked on, but I haven’t used them myself. If anyone has any feedback on some of the utilities, please reply.
I’m hoping these guild missions coming out will allow you to run with more people. We’ll see, though.

I’m glad to see you guys are paying attention to PvE and making it more challenging and rewarding.
Will we ever see any larger player cap dungeons(raids) in the future for large community guilds to do together as a bigger group? Will guild missions be something like this?
P.S Show some love for rangers!
Well, there are some major updates coming out in the new few months, First one will be out on the 28th. Fractals are getting fixed, they are bringing a new reward system in and the currency will come from daily quests. They are adding guild missions and all this other stuff you can check out here A heads up: World transfers are no longer going to be free when the 28th update hits, so choose a world!
But yeah, these next few months should be interesting.
Absolutely no to inspections. There are enough elitists around already and the last thing this game needs is another feature to allow them to stroke their own egos whilst locking other players out of their oh-so-special groups.
Pretty much this.
The best way is to keep playing the class and give accurate feedback on the problems it has, not to just quit playing it overall.
I’m running with the Lynx for the F2 bleed and good damage. Birds are good, too and also have more health than cats, but have the same damage and precision.
Fractals aren’t that easy and I would recommend five people. As for minimum requirements, I don’t believe there is any. I would suggest you find a group of people willing to help. I haven’t done much fractals myself because I don’t want to drag anyone down from their current levels, so I’m waiting for the update to do them.
This keeps getting brought up many times recently. Someone who knows how to make these sort of things should really work on a pve one. I don’t know how to do these things, but I would imagine you keep the current build tools, but replace the pvp gear with pve dungeon gear and ascended gear stats.
Are you asking if you can solo fractals? If so, then no, you can’t. Can you do them at level 30 with a group? Yes, you can.
isnt this WoW crafting its exactly the same thing .
Shhhhh
No, this does not need to be in the game. The ability to stay alive in a dungeon is what we rate people by, not by what numbers they can do. I don’t see how this would add any challenge into the game other than a unwanted competition between players.
Making things more challenging and more fun involves improving the dungeons. We need more mechanics rather than the boss having a big health pool and a one shot skill. That’s what we’re missing, not a damage meter.
Well said.
Since there is no real trinity no one is supposed to be a pure DPS. A damage meter would only encourage people to go for high numbers instead of learning how to master their character’s profession.
That, and cause people to go full class cannon and die more than doing damage.
I think about 70% of ranger traits are worthless. There is a reason most people who go into a tree pick the same traits.
Yeah. Not once with the ranger was I like “Oh man, I want this, but I also want that”.
I feel obtaining things in this game depends too much on luck/rng or how much gold you have or can make. I don’t think a mmo should have magic find gear to better your chances at getting more or better items. I understand this game was meant to eliminate the constant grinding of the same place waiting for that one piece of gear to drop, but I feel it’s a bit too much.
For example. Things that require ectos, You either have to buy the ectos, buy rare or exotics to salvage and get a chance at ectos, or you just try your luck with the rng and hope for rares or exotics to drop. I don’t have magic find gear myself. I heard it doesn’t work right and sometimes doesn’t even make a difference.
This whole random reward system doesn’t bother me too much, but I would honestly like to see different ways to obtain some of these things, like have a chance to obtain materials from dragon and dungeon chest possibly, I don’t know. I know they are working on adding new reward systems, but I know those won’t allow you to buy materials.
What?
/15char…
You know, I was just thinking about this the other day. I see this huge world and nothing is keeping you to continue to explore it, other than world completion. But even after world completion, why would you go back to various zones?
Anet is looking for ways to keep playing going back to older/different zones. I think this is one of the ways they could.
+1
Mounts will never be in this game. They added the waypoint system for that reason.
Wow, that really sucks, sorry to hear that. I’m not sure if support could get your lost items back like other games could by logs.
I would suggest you not allow anyone access to withdraw things from the guild bank unless you really know them.
Hope you get it figured out!
Elementalist, I think? But in order to do a ton of damage, you must sacrifice survivability, which will cause problems in the long run. It’s best to mix it up.
1. A Polling System Click to find out more. (in another thread)
2. Forum search upon creating topic title. Basically, when you start typing in the name of your title, it will do a search so you don’t have to go back to the forum selection and search. This is mainly for those who don’t know how to use the search tool. (That might backfire on me)
3. A ‘like reply’ system. This is not needed, but it would be a cool feature. If you like someone’s response or post, you can like that comment/reply. I think there is already something like this which is the “good answer” thing, but I believe that’s only for Q/A. Correct me if I’m wrong.
I was going to suggest the ability to see peoples’ number of posts or have some sort of ranking system depending on how many posts you have, but I feel this would cause people to reply on every thread possible and have some competition.
Let me know what you guys would like to see!
Been brought up, but I can’t find a good thread on it. Post it if there is.
Weapon skills…I want more! I think there should be more weapon skills you can choose like you can with your utility skills to add more variety. Some weapons seem to be #1 spam.
Very nice guild.
-No drama
-Active members—People on all hours.
-Dungeon crawlers and pvp’ers!
-Clean roster
-Magic find, karma, xp and other guild upgrades
If this sounds good to anyone, I urge you to try out this guild. Remember, on Jan 28th when the update comes, world transfers will no longer be free.
No, this does not need to be in the game. The ability to stay alive in a dungeon is what we rate people by, not by what numbers they can do. I don’t see how this would add any challenge into the game other than a unwanted competition between players.

Yes, I did read they are working on guild specific missions, but I’m not sure if they will offer the challenge some of us seek, or if they will be more like quests rather than dungeons. Either way, though, it sounds nice. They also said they will be working on “expanded and re-designed encounters for bosses in dungeons and the open world”, which also sounds like.
I know they are paying attention and realize there is a problem when it comes to some things in pve, but lets just see what they do with it. I’m excited about the upcoming months. I believe this first update will bring the fractals change, guild missions, and the new reward system.
Well, I think when this first update rolls out it will come with the Fractal changes, guild missions and the new reward system. There might be some bug fixes and possibly profession changes, but I won’t mind if there isn’t, because I still know new stuff is coming.
Know what this reminds me of? World of Warcraft, when Deathwing destroyed the front towers of Stormwind City. Yeah, they are finally fixing those in about two to three months, and that was way longer.
Sorry to go off topic.
This is in the suggestions already, and I said the same thing earlier.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Very-important-Guesting-suggestion
That’s not a bad idea.
2. Rangers are already like hunters, they just have more utility skills like spirits. They have traps, pets and bows.
The game is still new, so more weapon and skill are bound to come in sometime.
I agree. I think all the ranger traits need to be looked at.
Yes, this is a good idea. Or they could allow one last free transfer for everyone when the update comes out for those who maybe didn’t make it in time, or those who are just starting the game.
I really hope they show some love for ranger in these upcoming updates. I can’t speak for any other classes since I haven’t played them. The update is coming out on the 28th, but I’m not sure if they will be releasing profession updates.
We simply need something like this, but with a list of dungeon armor and ascended gear to pick from instead of pvp gear.
I’m not sure how to even begin making one of these or I would at least try.
Like i said before Anet can post n say they are working on stuff like they said before now they said they are not loike w/e this game is done n boring for me i think im done with gw2 now ive put over 600g worth of Extoics into Mystic forge and still cant get my Precurser ur RNG System is Trash its not Rewarding and ive done dragon chests daily like 4-8 of em a day and this is beyond annoying and im beyond kitten Gold Farmers own ur Game now they sell precursers and Legendarys now they run GW2 now it seems
Thats my 2 Cents n Rant good day!
Nice run on.
If you put over 600g into exotics, why didn’t you just use that gold to buy the precursor?
Totally agree with the OP. I remember the good ‘ol days of GW when massive group of B/P rangers went into dungeons looking for trouble. Ranger pets didn’t die from the slightest breeze from a boss or aoe attack. The Ranger is built right: a pet, some bows, some swords, and some great skills. Unfortunately, many of them don’t work right. The LB is weak & situational, the SB is a boring #1 spammer, the spirits are underpowered and more fragile than the pets, the pets have more bugs than I’ll mention here. The idea behind the Ranger is fantastic. I love it the most. But the execution leaves much to be desired.
I agree with you and Cole.
I haven’t been playing ranger long, but I have been playing long enough to know they are lacking in endgame. Long bow is situational, a bit too much situational; They need to take off that damage at range and decrease the #1 skill speed slightly. I have been using the short bow since I made my character, and in my opinion, it feels like a weak, spam weapon. I can’t give much feedback because I haven’t experimented with rangers enough in dungeons or all their abilities yet, but I do know they’re lacking and need attention.

Best to find an active dungeon running guild. It’s hard to tell which server has the most pve and which has the most pvp.
I heard killing Zhaitan was not so epic.
To clarify how many crowns you will get and the existing achievements, check out this post There are ANet posts about it there.
I’m not sure what’s going on with the whole precursor thing. It is a bit misleading hearing that they will be obtained via new reward system then them saying that it won’t be. But who knows if this is the last new reward system they will be adding. All I know is, he said “We’ve simply said we’ll try and find some other places to add a chance to get them to the game until we’ve implemented the eventual precursor scavenger hunt.” At least they are trying to add new ways to obtain it in the world. Hopefully they will let us know those ways to obtain it when they release all of this.
Yes, there needs to be more variations of stat combinations on gear.
I think there should be something, especially with some karma vendors. My mouse is starting double click and I bought two of the same item. It wasn’t much, just an extra 1,200 karam, but it’s still something. I really need to turn my mouse in for another, lol.
This really needs to be in the game, but I don’t think they would do it for free. You would probably have to buy another build then pay a small fee to change between them.
I would also like to see them add in item set swapping as well, like they have with the armor and town gear. Add more gear tabs so you can put different sets so you can save room in your bag, for those who have multiple sets.
I think you forgotten to share the most important info. What’s your profession?
Oh my god, you’re right! :o
I’m a ranger. It also says that in my signature.
My profession is Ranger. I’m having a hard to choosing which stat combination I want to go for on my armor. Currently, I am running power/precision/toughness gear with power/toughness/vitality accessories; It’s not dungeon gear, just bought from the trading post. I want to have good power with good survivability.
Current stats:
Power-1,891
Precision-1,468
Toughness-1,318
Vitality-1,241
Attack-2,777
Critical Chance-30%
Critical Damage-54
Armor-2,159
Health-18,332
I thought about going with full berserker gear(excluding rings) with Rune of the Dolyak or Rune of the Soldier. I also though about going with power/toughness/vitality gear with Rune of the Ranger. (Rune of the Ranger will replace the precision I would on my current gear, only losing ten precision.)
Then I kept thinking about healing power and condition damage—I want it all! I guess I’m going to end up getting various sets of armor in the future, but right now this is what I want to go for. Let me know what you guys think!

If you choose Asura, yes. But you can’t ride animals.
Yes, this is possible. Rangers a good at melee and ranged combat and dps pets do some good damage.
