same problem in borlis pass
I’m working all day Friday, and on Sunday we’re having a memorial for my grandfather who just passed away. Sad to miss the grand finale, but sadder to miss my grandad who I was really close with
Congrats! It is so awesome!
“I’m out of cinnamon.”
Giggity giggity!
I’m getting about the same amount as I did before, usually one or two a day.
Still bugged on Borlis Pass as of last night. It says that the southern pact has reached the rally point, but now the Northern pact won’t leave the beach area. And yet, a “rally point” star icon shows up on the map, one of the goal signs that shows up in those “guard X on its way to Y” dynamic events. But there’s nobody on the route there.
Just want shards, AND I want to be able to actually finally finish this event!
But what people are saying in this thread is that they aren’t spawning, which is the problem.
Yes, we’ve established that there’s a bug affecting some servers. That’s not what I was replying to.
Sorry, my mistake!
/promises to stop reading without coffee
Bumbled around in Borlis Pass yesterday and still nothing, which is a shame. Hopefully it’ll reset or be addressed in the upcoming patch.
I would like to address the fact that there is little to no info that i could find that triggers this event.
Every few hours (around 2 or 3, I think – although this changed from beta and then again soon after launch) portals will spawn in a nearby zone (near the ettins, at the oakheart grove, at the monastery, etc.). Kill those portals and 3 “special” portals will spawn in the swamp. Kill those and the Behemoth spawns.
At least that’s how it used to work at around launch; I haven’t really been back in that area for a while.
But what people are saying in this thread is that they aren’t spawning, which is the problem. None of the pre-event-events are happening. Since the game first launched I’ve only seen him once
I’m entitled to a game I payed full price for, that isn’t even finished.
You are not entitled to GvG because the game was never advertised as having it.
You cannot just pick a feature at random and insist that because it’s not ingame you haven’t got the game that you paid for…
If they fail to include advertised features, that’s a different story.
Maybe they misunderstood and thought the game was being marketed as “Guild Wars, too.”
On the forums, apparently. :P
/thread XD
Thank God I’m not the only one. I don’t use my cursor an awful lot in combat, but considering I have a hard time even seeing my AOE rings in a big battle (or, hell, even a medium-sized battle in PVE) then there’s definitely something wrong here. I’d love to use autocast setting so I don’t have to position my aoe rings, but considering that 75% of the time I can’t even find my cursor on the screen, that’s virtually impossible. (and it’s not an FPS/graphics issue for me as I’m running a great system on high settings.)
I’ve only just started playing a guardian and so far I like it, and I can definitely see the potential for this char to become a big supporter role.
In pugs in PvE my thief always has shadow refuge on hand, and I’ve found that a lot of the shortbow attacks make pretty good combos. Basically I use as many stealth/blind skills as possible in order to buy time to rez people, and I combine those with poisons/traps that slow crowds down. Some of the tricks in here are pretty useful. Good thread!
edited to add: Shadow Refuge does life steal in combo with ranged weapons, which is also pretty cool. I only just figured this out recently. Go go team slow learner!

I’m constantly blown away at the level of detail in the world design. When I’m running around with my friend most nights we always have to stop several times just to admire the scenery. I do ALL the vistas just for this. Well done, Anet artists. It’s really breathtaking
I have this issue, too. What I have to do is hit the walk button (w) to break out of the revive animation, and THEN dodge, but by that time it’s usually too late. I always pop Shadow Refuge when I rev someone now, but if you’re still in early levels you might not have access to that yet. So yeah, P.I.T.A!
We had a small, disorganized-ish group on Borlis Pass who made a really good attempt at it last night but he still had about a quarter of his HP left at the end of the ten minutes. I think your strategy makes sense, but like a few others have commented I think there’s better value in rezzing downed players vs. dead players.
I love these things. I let armour wear build up to the max and then use one of these and it saves a LOT of grief and gold.
I find it best not to say in public. That would be wrong
You are so awesome and have so much more class than they do.
Freaking jerks. I hope you reported them! And I’m sorry you had such a lame experience. Come on over to Borlis Pass! We are generally a pretty awesome but jerk-intolerant server <3
For those of you who were complaining about lack of manly faces for male humans, I have contracted my wife — who, I have on good authority, likes roosters a lot — to construct me The Manliest Man that can be made in Guild Wars 2. She has been giggling for 20 minutes now.
Being a student of history, she wanted to name him Marcus Manlius, but it was reserved. And Gaius Manlius was in use. The GW1 community rocked, apparently. In the end, we went against history and named him Manlius Manlius, which is at least twice as manly as those other Manlii.
Menfolk! Cover your eyes, lest you be smitten with confusing feelings! I give you your new emperor of masculinity:
My GOD! I sprouted chest hair just looking at that picture of manliness!
The people I’ve met and talked to are great. The worst I’ve seen out of Maguuma’s community is moving NPCs around in LA, some general kittening about Orr, and laziness at doing much else than the Plinx run in CS.
Every person I’ve seen so far that accidentally trained mobs has done the right thing. I’ve helped and been helped I don’t know how many times. It’s led to some epic fun.
Orr is savage and brutal and the zone design reflects it. I love it.
Not to mention that the artwork is incredible. I’ve nearly died a few times by just standing around and admiring the scenery and not noticing the massive freaking crowd of risen creeping up behind me.
I’ve only spent a scant few hours in the Orr areas but man, I am at work and itching for quittin’ time so I can get back to it. It is raw and brutal and brilliant.
This discussion simply must come up in every single solitary game, and it will come up again and again in each game.
I’m not the least bit concerned who is male or female on the other side of a monitor because it doesn’t matter. I’m far more concerned why people even care.
Is the character doing what they are suppose to do? Yes? That’s the only thing that matters and if you think otherwise, you need to rethink your life.
THIS, a hundred times this. It worries me how many people make this an actual OMG LIFE OR DEATH issue People! We all have different parts, this is a video game, oh my god, deal with it!
Ill tell you what the REAL problem with this game is: People referring to a single creep as a mob. Mob is plural. Its a f___g plural word kitten
The term “mob” comes from MUD’s It’s short for MOBile object.
A “mob” of people is plural, yes, but a mobile object (the use of “mob” in this context) is singular.
I…I actually didn’t know that! I just assumed it was a made-up slangy thing. See what crazy things you can learn on the internet?
As for human females, my main is a human female and so is one of my alts. In fact, all three of my alts are female. I don’t really know why, since in other games mine tend to be 50/50. It has nothing to do with my gender or sexual identity (even though I’m a woman.) I just kind of think it is awesome to have a butt-kicking lady running around and basically being a superhero, especially since most game marketing and writing tends to be geared towards men and male characters (though I admit this has been changing in the past few years.) But then I also like playing male characters for a change in perspective.
In this game, though, I don’t find the male characters to be as aesthetically pleasing as the women. It does bug me a lot that most of the human female magic-user outfits are over-the-top revealing to my tastes, but I love the medium armour on my thief, she looks kitten without looking underdressed and unnecessarily sexy. But besides the wardrobe issues, of all the races, I happen to find the human females most interesting to look at, followed closely by the Asura. And I like that the Norn female has a scarred face option. That’s pretty awesome because it transgresses “beauty” norms, and I am SO cool with that. It’s awesome to be able to play a female character in a video game who is NOT defined first as a sexual object.
And anyhow, it’s roleplaying. So if I want to make a short, hairy, bearded dwarf-man to run around in Dragon Age, then kitten it, I can. XD

Oh man, serious withdrawal here.
That screencap brought a tear to my eye

There’s definitely been an increase in drop rate, which I can’t say is unwelcome.
What is unwelcome is an increased drop rate for Black Lion Chests.
Before this weekend, I had 179 in storage. At the end of the weekend, I had over 200.
ArenaNet, no matter how much you drop these things, I will not buy keys from the gem store. Dial it back a bit, mkay?
lol I actually found a key as a random drop from a mob. I heard that it was possible but didn’t actually believe it since in over 300 hrs of playing I haven’t seen one! But aside from ones I’ve received as personal story rewards and a few keys I traded gold for, yeah, that’s about it. I’ve got 150+ in storage at last check.
Wish there was a Black Lion crowbar so I could just wrench them all open.
Yeah, I’ve had an absurd number of dyes drop for me over the past few days. Sometimes 3 or more in a single event! Not complaining, since I’m a bit of a dye junkie, but at least I’m not alone in noticing this. Maybe my luck has finally improved!
I remember doing a Champion with two random people in Malchor’s. During the 15 minute or so fight, about 10 people passed us and dropped their mob on us simply to get to the Ori Vein nearby. These mobs included a ton of hammer and pull mobs, as well as Veteran Abominations and the like.
In the end, we died, while the Champion had so little health left that his health bar wasn’t visible at all anymore. There was no red left. Needless to say I called out everyone who passed us by name in Map chat. Surprisingly, a lot of people were on my side saying that it was ridiculous that so many people did that. Seriously…what the hell.
I do not doubt for a second that Orr brings out the worst in people due to it’s terrible mobs.
That is really, really crappy. I had similar stuff in Mad King’s Labyrinth and other mob-heavy areas, where people just show up to an event, kill one or two to get the karma reward, and then bugger off and leave two or three of us to be slaughtered by the horde. Wouldn’t surprise me that the same kind of jerky behaviour happens in these areas. I hate that kind of BS.
Despair not! Some of us are cool team players!
Don’t really get how people have such issues with Orr? I went there for my first time this weekend as a lvl 80 and it was super challenging, but not frustratingly so (at least, not Clocktower-levels of frustration for me!) I was running with a lvl 70 player and we died a bit but mostly did alright. The events are really challenging, though. And certain areas are FULL of bots.
Dunno, maybe it’s just my server or something, but it has been pretty cool there so far. Not a lot of whiners.
Though I am getting super tired of seeing risen! I’d like something different thrown at me now, please. (Though I admit, I appreciated the risen chickens, they made me laugh…right before they slaughtered me.)
Quaggan’s a pirate!
Very, very, very happy player here!
I got a hint of Sheogorath from him. Especially in the dungeon. I kept expecting him to yell “CHEESE FOR EVERYONE!!!”
I was totally thinking that too!
Quaggan Piwate!
Is the FOV zoom out in Ascent to Madness not intended? Because I freaking love it. I can navigate much better and actually see what’s happening across the field.
Now if they can do something to fix the ridiculousness of the camera in closed spaces, that would be great. No matter how much I zoom in or out, whenever I enter any size of room I can only see what’s going on for about a quarter of the time — the rest of the time is spent trying to see through walls or through the back of my toon’s skull. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve died in dungeons and caves because of this
Totally thrilled with it, even though I have ragequit the Clock Tower so many times (kudos to those who had the willpower to keep trying and succeed!) The Mad King event yesterday was fantastic, too. Having a blast all around!
They are the play dress up , OR , if you have a LOT of time , you can craft them, but i warn you , they are freaking hard to craft unless you are very rich.
This post got more info:

OOOOOOH. That totally went over my head before. Thanks!
Maybe this has already been answered, but I can’t find it anywhere:
One of the candy corn vendors in LA near the Forge sells three weapons for candy corn or for silver. The weapons are timed (they last…three hours? four hours?) Besides equipping them for that amount of time (and thus losing the bonuses of your own weapons), is there anything else to do with them? I can’t use them with the transmutation stones, so is there some other use for them besides just playing dress-up?
I wanna keep them!
I just wish I didn’t have to run around holding down CTRL with my pinky the whole time I’m playing lol
haha yeah me too!
douceline that’s not the problem… i like to hunt pumpkins too but i think it’s unfair some people take advantage and win the achievement easier than the rest… but y nvm just my opinion have a good game you all !
Yeah, I agree, for sure. I thought the resetting pumpkin thing was deliberate at first. But I don’t care if people get the achievement before me, so long as I get the achievement! I love pumpkin hunting
Is it taking place in LA? Sunday is my ONLY day off work so I am pretty pleased
Anet, please just TAKE MY MONEY!
Some of them are rather devious.
Bah! How dare Anet not put all the pumpkins in the middle of LA so I can get instant gratification?!?
Joking aside, pumpkin hunting has seriously become one of my favourite things in the game right now
That is brilliant. I suck so much at costume brawl but man is it fun. I don’t even want an achievement or a title, I just want to scuttle about as a plastic spider and hit people!
^ ahahaha nicely done!
Me 54, husband 64, and we are having a blast! Other guild members include our children in their 30’s, friends in their 30’s and our 13 year old grandson. Fun, fun, fun!
It’s a good thing to keep the older people happy. We have a lot more money to spend in the cash shop.
You guys totally win the Parents of the Year award
I’m 32 and expect I’ll be enjoying this game well into middle age
Put a ring on that girl!
Cool! Whereabouts in that map was it? I love the Harathi Hinterlands but have never come across this event!
It’s also the far East moutain line in the Eastern area of the map. It’s just East of the NPC camp when you fire weapons at targets for the Heart event.
I originally found the journals. By reading the journals a couple of times, it seems to trigger the Dolyak spirit. This creates special reactions from the ghosts in the cave and spawns the Veteran spirit of the Captain (who is referenced in the journals). While I’ve never found anything else after the Captain ghost is killed, it does feel like there should be a step after that.
Cool, thanks! I’ll check it out after I get home from work.
(is totally not reading GW2 forums at work…)

I’ve read through this post three times now and I have to say, I don’t understand what your message is. Maybe it’s a non-native-language issue, I don’t know, but what you’ve written isn’t clear in most places, and pretty garbled in many.
“IMHO the key issues of the Travel System is that it flat actually does not enable fast travel, and also discourages Grouping, inhibits players not already self endowed with more Gold than they will attain thru normal adventuring”
What? Could you support this with proof? Because asura portals ARE how you fast travel, and they DON’T break grouping (if I assume that you mean that if one person travels through a gate, the rest of the group somehow can’t? Because that’s entirely untrue.) And the cost is there as a bit of a gold sink, yes, but also to encourage exploration rather than leaping from point to point. I was able to fast travel right from the start with my first character as soon as I hit my first or second waypoint.
I also can’t understand your solution in the slightest. You want to…make fewer waypoints, so fast travel (which you say at the moment isn’t fast enough) will be slower, because the current system of fast travel is a timesink, and somehow slowing it down further and bottlenecking it will be…less of a timesink? And then something about immersion? Which, IMHO, isn’t an issue with the current system since Asuran technology is part of the actual mythology of the game.
I think I disagree with your post, but I’m not actually sure I understand your post in the first place.
haha these are awesome! Also high five to the player named Heavy Charrtillery!
