My game client is still crashing, though less frequently. In three hours of play yesterday it crashed 4 or 5 times, always in the middle of a meta event. Happily I was able to get back in to the same map shard and got credit. Usually I get booted to a different shard and lose all my participation credit. Really, really frustrating. I’ve done everything recommended and also knocked my graphics way, way down and it’s still happening.
I’m crashing at least once an hour. Graphics totally freeze up. Pre-HoT I was able to run everything with graphics maxed out. Now, I have to drop everything to medium or low during events. I’ve dropped several times now in the middle of big WvW fights and in PvE events (tequatl, most notably… argh).
This has been ongoing for me as well since yesterday, even after the hotfix done in the evening. I responded to a similar thread elsewhere and also submitted a bug report in-game. I guess Anet is just telling me not to spend my money!
Same here, it won’t open my browser.
I gotta say, I love the megaservers so far. LOVE, LOVE LOVE. Maps don’t feel empty anymore, there are always people around, mapchat even in low-population maps is buzzing, and the world feels more alive to me. Downside is having to specify which server your guild is recruiting for, but that’s just a minor inconvenience. So far I love it.
What is this, Diablo II?
hahaha this is amazing! Well done!
Yeah, it would sure be nice if it were account bound. I just wish I had known about the transmutation issue before I tried it. Gonna try transmuting from my bank and, if that doesn’t work, I guess one of my alts is getting a quaggan backpack.
If you transmute to a non soulbound on aquire backpiece on your main it will become accountbound. You can then re-transmute with your alt.
Thanks! I’m so happy now!
The interface for transmutation stones/crystals has a warning in red letters:
“Warning: Transmuting an item will make it soulbound.”
kitten it! I wish I had seen that. But is the same warning on the skins? Because it happened when I used a skin
You read my post before I edited it to add the bit about the wing skin. I accidentally posted instead of previewing. I thought my edit was pretty fast but you were faster checking for replies.
I’m totally not desperately hitting refresh. Nuh-uh. O____O
Thanks! I feel like an idiot now, but I’ve got some awesome advice in this thread and I’ll give it a shot tonight!
Erm isn’t the skin just a skin, surely the bit that’s soulbound is the item you put the skin on? Did that say soulbound on use in its description?
That’s what I mean: I put the skin on an item I hadn’t even used yet, that I had just bought from the TP, wasn’t soulbound. I applied the skin to the item and was going to drop it in the bank. I didn’t realize applying a skin was “using” the item
Yeah, there was definitely a warning. There always is whenever you transmute something.
If you can get a white or blue backpiece, you can transmute it onto that, making it not soulbound, then put it in storage, take it out on your other character, and finally transmute it AGAIN to re-bind it to the new character.
AMAZING. Thank you! That is the answer I needed.
…that, and, uh, better patience to read the transmutation stones, eep >_<
I feel a bit ripped off by this, and while I’m not usually one to whine about stuff going amiss in the game, this really peeved me.
After running around for hours and hours hoping for the regular wings to drop, I finally just bought a pair off TP, because I liked the way those ones looked on my main char, and I really wanted to use the Shattered wings on my alt (an Asura.) When I logged in last night on my main (a human thief) I got the Shattered skin in my mailbox. Since I was already doing some stuff at a Black Lion merchant, I figured I would just pick up a spineguard there for my Asura, put the skin on that (WITHOUT EQUIPPING IT), and then drop it in my bank for the next time I logged in that char.
When I did that, the item was now soulbound! I couldn’t even give it to my Asura. Are all skins like this, soulbound on use, even if you don’t equip the item but just use the transformation stone? Because that really, really sucks. I had no intention to use this item on my main, I was just getting the transformation out of the way while I had the items in my inventory. And it’s not like I can just buy another pair of these, since they’re ONLY dropped from this event. I could save up my gold and buy a pair of the regular wings, but that doesn’t fix anything because they are not the ones I wanted and worked for in the first place.
Contacted support, and the answer was “sorry, can’t replace them for you” and I’m really not happy about that. If an item is soulbound on use, IT SHOULD SAY THAT IT IS. So while it’s nice that I did get the achievement, it’s basically worthless to me now since I can’t even use it as I intended.
So let it be a warning for people planning on using skins! Make sure you’re activating the skin on the character you intend to use the weapon, or else you’re screwed out of it.
Yup. In fact, as you are transmuting the wings on a backpiece, a sentence shows up in bright red font at the bottom and it says “Warning! Transmuting an item will make it soulbound!”
As a person who transmutes things all the time I can tell you don’t worry about it. Get a transmutation crystal and just transmute it to another character’s backpiece. All is not lost.
How does that work if I can’t put one character’s item into another character’s inventory? Or can I transmute directly from my bank? Because that would be amazing if I could do that!

MAI TRIN
First name has 3 letters
Last name contains TRI = “three”
Halflife 3 confirmed!
I gotta say, I am pretty impressed with our WVW streak this week. We have some really awesome commanders to keep us all organized. I think if we got more people on teamspeak we could be even more powerful.
Guys, get on teamspeak! Even if you don’t have a headset, at least put it on your speakers so you can hear what strategies are being discussed. It has totally changed WVW for me!
I wonder how many servers have a Monkey on their back like we do?
Oh, you! XD
Thief – 80
Necromancer – 80
Elementalist – 76
Guardian – 67
My others are all fairly low.
It’s annoying, but you can get around it. My thief dodges and kites as much as possible and uses short bow or throws daggers, but she still gets knocked around. My necro just sends minions over and sneaks around the back. A pain, yeah, but they can be done.
The past few days (possibly since the last patch) when my elementalist summons a frost bow, it only summons one and not two: one appears at the target, but the one that is supposed to appear in her hands never does.
It looks like when I use this skill in combat it summons a bow at the target, but then spawns “ring of earth” on my character instead of summoning a second bow in her hands. This never happens out of combat, only in combat.
-Fairly obvious, but the Wagon Smashing bonus game is clearly inspired by the Car Crusher mini-Game from Final Fight/ Street Fighter. The dwarf (?) stepping out and saying “Aww, my wagon!” Was a dead giveaway.
oh my god, I had COMPLETELY forgotten about that! I had crazy deja vu in the cart smashing and couldn’t figure out where I had done that before. Thanks for zooming me back to my childhood!
I’ve only had one, and it was from the first and only dye kit I bought from a laurel vendor.
26 runs x 3 chests each = 78 chests, no skins
But I have traded in bauble bubbles for a backpack and a greatsword skin. Holding out for the sword, shield, and staff!
I absolutely died of laughter when he took his sunglasses off, oh my god.
Oh my god I’m so happy there’s already a thread. It’s utterly brilliant.
Anet, I howled with laughter when I watched the Super Adventure Box commercial. It was hysterically brilliant and exactly like the commercials I remember from when I was a kid. I just think it deserves a bit of appreciation. The new content is wonderful, but this video is seriously the icing on the cake and I love it.

I absolutely love this event. When I discovered you could break pots in the shops I just about died laughing because it reminded me of playing Ocarina of Time. Well done, Anet.
Thank you, Anet! I totally adore the Super Adventure Box and the commercial made me cry with laughter. I love, love, love, love it so much. I’ve been spending lots of time in Orr lately, and this is a wonderfully fun break. Good job for everyone who worked on it!
I love the thief elites, but I find the necro elites pretty useless, although as an asuran necromancer I like to throw down a golem every now and then
I nearly drove myself insane trying to find the sixth possession (the logbook!) Other than that, I’ve enjoyed hw the story is unfolding in bits and pieces and definitely looking forward to seeing more!
It’s completely random. I’ve bought three sets so far with laurels, and on my first one I got Abyss. I got one or two rares in the other ones, too. Random is random.
Totally awesome! Nicely played.
The first time a guildmate and I found a pair of diving goggles. He does a flawless swan dive off the cliff. I followed a few moments later and did a flawless faceplant onto a rock.
The first one I saw was the Champion Risen Giant walking around by Rally Point. It scared the crap out of me. Now I can solo a regular or veteran giant as a thief, but Champions I still need a lot of help with!
I’ve had a couple of chests that I haven’t been able to open at all. Weird.

Happened to me too, just once for an hour in three weeks I was getting normal drops. Then the patch was installed and I stopped getting drops again. You can notice several people in this thread that had experienced same one-time “spikes of luck”.That sounds like a telltale sign of a bugged DR mechanic that doesn’t properly reset once it has been triggered.
Yeah, actually, that makes sense and I hadn’t thought of that. Would certainly explain the spike and sudden drop.
Now I’m getting completely normal drop rates, MF seems to be working although someone I was playing with last night complained that hers wasn’t. I got several rares last night (4 or 5) in about two hours’ worth of gameplay, runnign with about 35% MF.
Maybe it really is just a luck thing? I had completely dismal drop rates across the board a few weeks ago on all my chars.
I got mine and I was really thrilled with it. Be patient, it’ll come. Thanks, Anet.
My third post in this thread: loot has gotten marginally better for me, and I actually had a rare drop from a regular mob in Harathi Hinterlands with my l37 ele, but still not getting drops from veterans or champions. Hardly seems worth fighting them at all.
Last night was WAY better for me, something more like the normal amount of loot I would expect. I ran around Harathi Hinterlands with my l35 ele for maybe an hour or so and picked up some decent drops (a few blues and whites, a green or two, and a yellow). Totally different than I’ve experienced in other areas or with other characters, and totally different than the experience I relayed in my earlier post. Totally weird.
Oh, but got virtually nothing from vets, and the ones that did drop didn’t drop anything interesting (bones, I think.)
“Veteran villager” and “veteran farmer” in Orr always make me laugh,
I’m glad to see it’s not just me experiencing way lower-than-usual drops. Champion fights seem hardly worth it since usually what I get is a bone or maybe, if I’m lucky, a white. Last night I played for three hours with my lowest-level character, cleared most of Queensdale, and didn’t even have to hit a merch once (and he’s only got the starter backpack and two four-slot bags.) And that was after running every event I could find, and some of them twice.
Try that : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stun_break
That list makes me laugh. 2 abilities for a Ranger vs. 4+ for every other class. LOL @ 6 for a Thief.
I assume that’s because Thieves are meant to be up close and dirty with daggers/swords, whereas Rangers are meant to be primarily ranged and out of the way of most CC stuff. Of course, moot point when you’re a solo ranger!
There are lots of stun/KD skills, as well as dodge. They’re annoying, yes, but they add a level of difficulty in later levels. You should be moving and dodging frequently or using skills that avoid cc completely. Chain knockdowns are frustrating, though, but I try to avoid getting crowded by several mobs at once when I’m soloing.
A few level 85 champion turkeys running around that drop handfuls of exotic poultry meat would be a nice touch.
With a new cooking recipe for Roasted Butterball. The only downside is, after you eat Roasted Butterball, your character’s movements get slower and slower until they unbutton their pants and fall asleep watching keg brawl!
YES YES YES. I would pay for this.
Nerfing Plinx is one of the best things they’ve done, IMHO. The zerg in that event was so ridiculous hardly anyone could tag enough to get drops. It was fun for karma farming, but good lord that got boring really fast.
I don’t find Cursed Shore that overwhelming, tbh. Hard, yes, but not over-the-top. There are usually enough people around to get through the major events.
My only real major complaint is Grenth, there’s no WP closer than Anchorage, so if you die mid-event you have to pretty much fight your way solo all the way back to the temple. As a thief using a ton of stealth skill, I still rarely make it back
I’m pretty introverted and don’t always want to play in a party, but PUGs in various areas tend to work nicely for me. I can wander about with them for a bit and then leave when I get tired and just want to be alone.
I find most of the game soloable, even parts of Orr, if I’m patient. Some areas simply aren’t, but there’s more than enough for me to do when I’m playing by myself that I don’t really see anything to complain about.
