I use to WvW a lot but when you are in a guild and they want you to defend constatly, instead of earning Karma. Not that I do not mind defending. But if you get steamrolled from trying to defend you are basicly going into WvW to waste coin on repairs constantly, and siege equipment that gets destroyed. It is basicly a faster way to throw coin out the window. Not worth it anymore. Nor the coin wasting.
agree it is very annoying especialy in WvW when you want to see in which direction the enemy is heading, so you can warn the group about them advancing.
Atleast that is what I am pretty sure it is called. I had asked many people in game that had the set, and I never got a straight answer from no one. I am not sure if they did not want to give me a straight answer or not.
Most say you get it by doing 80 map things. Not completion, just loot, and doing the events. They also said it is not a Karma dealer that gives it. I didn’t believe them of course, so I googled level 80 Exotic Karma dealers, and I seen no pictures of the duelist set on the Karma dealers inventory.
What I found on the dealers was the whispering set. Not a bad set but it is the typical long jacket look. Problem is the Long jacket look goes from 20+ level all the way to 80 level. That look is worn out and stail especialy when it is the only look you can get on a thief for all them levels.
So what exactly has to be done and where do I go to get the Duelist set for theThief?
Thanks for reading.
Risen zombie kicking a rabbit!
after they yell. “It begins” lol
My favorite Diaolouge by far is when there is this skritt takeing a Harpie egg and running with this huge egg and yelling Screeeeech is that how you sound, Screeeeeech stupid harpy can’t catch me, Screeeech stick it up your Screeeeeech.
Or in the lines of something like that.
did you really have to make two different posts of the same subject of your argument? That said, I thought all nodes are accessable to each player. Unlike the way WoW is set when people either grief to get a node, or in a group they would roll for the node.
I like on my Charr Warrior.
“Thats the Stuff”
I just saw Sunrise on a player today. It is a nice looking greatsword. Some one in chat was talking to the guy about it, and he said he got the majority of the mats for it by buying game gold. So has it stands right now is probly what most players are doing to get their legendary weapons. Do to the ridiculous amount of things needed just to make one legendary. So yeah I would love to see some other way to get the weapons.
not on my server. It seems when I report 4 six more show up.
“The loot is just the icing on the cake.”
What loot? You mean vendor trash, whites and blues and maybe a green.
That is not the point. Especialy if it takes a group to take them down. Bosses need better rewards, period. Non of this beating around the bush BS.
a lv80 thief will have 13-18k health, depending on the build.
a lv80 warrior can pass the 30k health mark.
different classes, different base stats.
Actually, thieves can get as low as 10k.
and warriors can get as low as 23k
because Anet increased the lock chest drops so people have to pay for the keys in the gem shop. I think you only get a few free keys, after that they want you to spend Real life cash just for the keys.
Well here is what I went through since there really is not a single way to test the server out before you make a transfer.
Anvil Rock = Pve pressence but the pressence where between 5pm til 8pm US Eastcoast. virtually no WvW
Sea of Sorrows = Barely a day presence or a night pressence at all, east time, but WvW had queues from 9pm up until 11pm.
Davona’s Rest = Barely a day pressence or a night pressence in the upper level maps from what I seen so far. Never tried WvW on this server. But it looks like I been seeing a lot of players doing Dungeon Runs mostly. Good thing is there is an endless amount of players that tell you when events pop. Bad thing is I only seen this annoucement mostly in the lower level areas.
My next server will probaly be yaks bend, I only can hope to see A fair amount of Day and night pressence in both PVE and WvW.
So basicly the servers falls in a sort of “RNG system”, you just have to cross your fingers, and hope the server supplies what you need if you ever get into it in the first place.
I have to agree on the OP points. Sure he/she has 700 plus hours spent, but that can all be do in the hopes of He/she waiting to see if anything changed patch after patch.
GW2 has lots of issues, and the only thing they are concerned about are the endless supply of Constant Locked Chest drops. They need to add more important to gamer drops. such as good gear, weapons, etc off of mobs instead, because right now the only choices we have are.
Buy keys off the market with Real life cash for the Locked chest that works off a RNG of goodies beside pointless tonics.
Buy game gold from a third party seller to help players get their crafting maxed for lengendaries.
to depend on the Mysic toilet that works off a RNG to spit out good gear.
to depend on the RNG system to get something good off champion bosses. or even the 70-80 Risen mobs.
I agree the targeting system does need a tweak. So many times I would target a different foe just because my character is faceing in the general direction of said foe, and it so many times would auto target a foe and not the one that is attacking me.
I don’t think it will matter on exotic dyes. We already have so many different named dyes that look like so many other dye colors. The only difference is, is the name of the dye itself.
For example the dye named Pride is pink in color, and it looks like all the other pink colors with different names on them. Abyss and Black look the same, Abyss just has the higher price tag. Celestial and Mist, and white look the same, but Celestial has the bigger price tag.
no point whatsoever, they mostly drop vendor trash or no good stuff at all. We all know these champion bosses are a bear to kill, and the rewards are not worth the effort at all. Which = annoyed players = a less player game population.
i have to admit it is a pain in the butt to try to get on a server that you got an eye on, that is always constantly full. Maybe if there was not SO MANY BOTS it could be easier to get in, or even an overflow copy of that server to get onto. You may be in an overflow server for now, but atleast you are in that server that you want to be in.
To me, Legendary is a challenges. It like a marathon, and there is winners and losers. That’s why it is worthy. That’s why I give up dungeons, cool-looking exotics gears and so many things to get one. And I don’t care how is the look of the trophy. I know you would say everyone can get one using Paypal, but majority of us legendary crafter got/is getting one because we have a superior plan. No, it is not that we farm more or we are luckier. It is because we research more, we save more and we give up more. If legendary/precursors can get from story line, everyone can get it. Then what is the point to craft an overpriced exotics? Don’t we have enough dungeon/mad king/mystic forge exotics for everyone?
I have to disagree on this Legendery means using the Mysic Toilet in hopes to get one that is based on a RNG system, or got to paypal buy the gold to help get mats faster to increase your crafting at record time and either make it or buy the mats for one to make it.
Bottom line is Ele’s are broken and need a fix. 1v1 they most of the time do come out alive, barely, but more then that you will fold after three hits, and burn all your cooldowns, leaving you to run for your life constantly or spend coin on death repairs constanly.
the scaleing also goes with waypointing in zones of not of your level.
For an example if a level 80 character is in a 20-30 zone the 80 will pay more coin waypointing to the same waypoint then a 20-30 character pays for in that same zone.
Invisible armies were never fixed drifter.
WoW a response. most people just post away and never read what others had posted. Goes to show I had not been in WvW since my last two server switches. But from my first server people in my guild commented on the invisible armies seem to had gotten fixed some. Shrugs
Not had a dye drop in the last 2 days :-( and still not got a Black Dye
^This
The dyes drop ratios seemed to had changed a lot for some reason, and if you do get a drop it is most likely in the blue category, not color but rarity, and you probaly had already unlocked that color.
I also noticed when you stick 4 dyes in the mystic forge of the same rarity most likely you get one dye back of the same rarity as the 4. Before if I stuck 4 dyes of say in the green category, I almost always got one dye back from the yellow cataegory. Now if dyes do drop they are mostly dyes of the blue category.
I think the problem is there do to the vast of invisible armies in WvW. Meaning only a few players where rendered, what you think looks to be 10 people turns out to be 40 instead. People that do WvW on a basis always complained about invisible Armies. The problem is still there but not as bad as it was. So whatever the devs did to fix the invisible army problem in WvW, might had leeked over in the PVE zones. Just a thought
I will not be getting any Cultural gear, although a lot of it looks nice. The problem is the cost and the category.
First off the cost per piece is pretty pricey. I find it hard just to get to 3g in this game. I am not going to waste my precious time just playing the market. When that time can be spent playing the game instead. I will never use third party programs just to get the gold, my Real life money has more important places to go towards, like car Insurance, mortgage, Etc. The cost could just be yet another way of gold sinking in game. It is unfair to players that will not ever purchase game gold with real life cash.
Second, I am not sure why the deves placed them in the Rare catagory. I can play the game as intended and get Exotic gear instead. Why would I choose Rare over Exotic gear? Better yet why would ANY player choose a Rare over an Exotic piece.
I fell Cultural gear should be able to purchase through Karma Instead, and placed in the Exotic category. That way the choice is up to players to want to be geared through the Exotic Karma dealers from Orr. or be geared with Exotic Cultural Karma dealers, or a mix of both. Not all Tiers should be bought with gold or karma but I feel Tier 3 Should be Exotic and able to be purchased through Karma instead of coin.
I think the devs did it this way to get bodies in Orr, but the problem they overlooked a little is making Orr a-bit of an annoyance then fun. Most players that finaly get in Orr, and find out how annoying the place can be, usually role an alt. Waypoint always contested leaving players to rush their way through content just to get to the next waypoint for it to be contested once unlocked and trying to avoid the vast numbers of highly aggroed, hard hitting, damage absorption mobs of Risen everywhere.
I agree, but the thing is. Imagine making all new models on all helms and hats with all the different types of hairs and hair colors = more pixels which = more money. A lot of games are built around pixel limitations to meet the minimal requirements of what the game, as a whole is speced for.
I would love to see a game that shows your hair style of what you picked for your character under that helm or hat, and is still as big and complex as GW2 with very little clipping. Someone mentioned Tera did something to show your hair under your hat/helm, but I had not played Tera long enough to notice what they did.
Imagine how big the game would be if the hairs in GW2 showed the styles of what you picked for your characters + the animation on long hairs under helms/hats?
Why should you care what people on the INTERNET think. Make your character however you want, whether that be based on you, or however else you want to design it.
RPG = Role Playing Game
I feel the same way. If you are a girl and play a male toon, and Visa Versa. Why does it matter what gender you play?
I think the answer to this question is some dudes on the interwebs use games, to meet girls, and when they find out that, that “Smexy” avatar female toon, is really a dude. Their dreams are shattered about finding that special someone who likes the same games they do.
What I get from My girlfriend is, she thinks it is immature to play PC games, If she liked them as much as I do, then it could be another way of here and I bounding. So dudes get upset when that avatar they fall in love with is just another dude. For those that do not know: Pro Tip
MMORPG really means = Mostly Men Oline RolePlaying Girls.
GIRL really means = Guy In Real Life.
Something deffently changed in drop rates, some good, some bad. Atleast butter is not dropping as much as it did. But I did notice a Huge difference in Rares droping. I remember before, just running around in Cursed Shore, I’d get a rare or two just from some risen wandering, Now the only things I been seeing far more are blues dropping, and WAY TO MANY PROCUOS SKULLS
And why I am on the subject, Why in the heck huge boss battles Like Grenth, Lyssa, Etc. When you down them and get the chest. 90% of the time the chest only holds blue weapons mostly, a blue gem and MAYBE a green weapon. The battle was not easy, and that is whats left of a reward..A couple blue weapons, maybe a green and a blue gem?
People will say; ‘Well you get the Karma dealers. " Which is great, don’t get me wrong, but other players like I already have full Karma Exotic Armor. I feel these chest should have Rares and maybe an Exotic in them a lot more often. Not crappy Blues and greens, because just downing these bosses is not an easy task, and it takes time and group cordination to get them down. Right now the reward is not worth it, when it’s done.
I think they may have problem with Eles. I noticed when I am on one of my heavy armor characters, I can pretty much stand in one spot spamming my attack skills, and the NPC beastie does follow suite.
But when I am on my Ele, as soon as I hit them with a spell they are running fast as they can right at me, and no matter how much I try to kite them they are always right in my face.
Why does their posture change, that much being on my ele? I want them to stand in place like they did when I was on my heavy armor character. Does ANet really try to make the game this annoying on purpose?
I agree. There are so many places, throughout all of Tyria that there are to many mobs grouped up on key locations. I didn’t mine on my Warrior, but I feel bad for the squishy classes. The devs should really rethink their mob placements.
There is a fine line between a hard area and an annoying area. Players are unhappy when something is more annoying then hard to do.
the game is designed around coin sinking. Why do you think you pay more coin just to waypoint in zones that are not your level? A level 80 toon in a 20-30 zone will pay more then the 20-30 level toon in that same zone waypointing to the same waypoint.
Why you think there are diminish returns when farming the same mobs in the same zone after you spent to much time farming that zone?
Why you think there is Magic find gear? Not to find better things. Because if that was the case then why does all gear not have magic find on them by default?
So if it works for you then why stop? I just know that these few people that tested magic find gear relentlessly did not see a huge increase on better loot. Magic find gear, to me is just another tool the devs implemented in the game so people spend there coin on all magic find boost and gear to help with coin sinking.
I don’t know about you, but I will not waste coin on gimicky magic find stuff that works on a RNG.
I would love to see higher amount of gold totals on gems. Because right now the gold seems pretty low when you cash gems in for gold. To Low compaired to the TP inflation prices.
Addons are nice but it certain games it is more of a hassle. especialy if you are in a guild, and they say you can not participate in this run until you download this addon.
So Add ons do have a tendecy of taking over games. The devs of anygame probaly worked there butts off to get in the game design industry. They don’t need all there hard work spoiled by a few others that are just smart and design a program to make things easier. With limit to no experience in the gaming industry.
the reason why the game has zones is because each is it’s own instance so it would be pretty challenging to have it seamless
^This
and it makes it easier for the devs to add or remove content in a flash. Also I am sure it makes it easier to fix things in the zones that may be bugged.
After awhile I don’t here the voices. And I thought it was. “URGE TO KILL RISEING.”
But what I do here constantly is the sound of a female Slvari getting hit when in a group. They sound like puppy yelps lol.
I feel the same way. I switched to three different servers, and I rarely see any players roaming around, there are bots, but not players. People say they are at Cursed Shore. No they are not. Also could be the poor selection of servers I picked. Cursed Shore and areas around have no day pressence. Neither does WvW.
You think a server that shows High to Full 24/7 would have people in them? They do not. If you do run in a group of players, most likely they are sitting in Lions Arch or Cursed Shore AFK.
So I need a server with a huge day pressence, that speaks english in chat, and on Vent. Any Ideas. this server hopping is annoying? I would like to settle in a guild that does PVE groups as well as WvW on a daily with a huge day pressence.
Try Yak’s Bend, I’m on every night for about 3 hours, I have 3 level 80 toons and still see lots of players every evening from noob zones to level 80.
Is there a high amount of players in every zone all hours of the day? I too have 3 level 80’s and two other alts in the 20’s. It is becoming relentless when I would like to commit to world events at the Cursed Shore and there is NOBODY in there or the surrounding areas.
I can’t promise you a high amount of players at all hours of the day, there are going to be off hours with low traffic and other peak times like any other MMO.
I play primarily between 8 pm to midnight (Eastern Time zone) and from noon to midnight on weekends and I’ve always found plenty of other players in the same zones I’ve been in, and I’ve been in a range of different level zones.
well I am going to have to look in that server after my 7days it up on the server I am in now, and hope there is more of a Day pressence. Then the last three.

I do as much as I can. Anet has to many coin sinks all over the game. When I am on a squishy alt, I fold in half quickly in some case’s. So now I have to repair.
Looks at map
only repair point is WAY over there. “2s and 15 copper to that waypoint. huh?”
I’m not wasting 2s just to go way over there, which is the closest waypoint from where I am at now, then pay whatever price it will cost me to repair ontop of that.
See a pattren here? I wish we had a lot more places to get repairs at. I dunno every major waypoint should have one. or better yet lower the cost of waypoints.
I noticed if you are on a character that is the required level of the zone you are in, waypoints are not that high at all. But if you are on a level 80 character in a 30-40 zone, sure you get auto adjusted but that waypoint that was 77copper being on a 30-40 character is now 2s and 20 copper being on a level 80 character that got autoadjusted to the proper level of the zone.
If you are going to autoadjust my level then the waypoints should not increase in value just because I am on a higher level character of the zone. I also should not have level 30-40 loots mostly, just because I am on a level 80 character.
Is the main reason why I use repair canisters.
what server? I been through 3 different servers already and all’s I see in most place are bots. I just reported 6 the other day, and I still see more. It’s like I report 4 one day and I will see 6 the next day. I sware they multiply when I report them.
Most places are more of annoyance then hard. An annoyed player is an unhappy player.
I don’t care what anybody thinks, but levels 70-80 Risen need to get toned down a lot. Hard? unlikely, but very annoying at most.
Npc beasties in most levels need their Snare, dazz’s, and cripple skills toned down some. How come every single NPC’s beasty needs these skills in the first place? They already Insta spawn on you and mob you quickly. Again this falls in the annoying catagory, not hard.
Getting slowed 90% of the time when trying to navigate from point A to point B in most mob situations becomes very annoying. And throw that in with extremly week NPC soilders, that fold in half almost instantly when mobed. Sure I have skills that can boost my speed, but the cooldown on these skills take to long to refill. Again an annoyance at most.
The simple solution to the matter is ALL the NPC’s that happen to take part of any event, need to be WAY, WAY stronger. Most events fail fast when any NPC’s are involved in it, because most of them drop like flies very quickly. So a player is shortly overwhelmed by mobs when trying to revive the NPC’s. Since reviveing gets slowed down to like 3 quarters when in combat. When your NPC’s drop that fast it is safe to say the event failed.
I seen him several times in one day when leveling an alt.
So you’d rather loot a chest with all blue items (95% of the time) than farm ice elementals for lodestones and massive amounts of gold? Hmmm….
Agree. Why is it that these champion bosses will give blue and some greens in there chests. It took a bunch of people to finaly down them, and Blues(mostly) and Greens in the chest…Huh? This make no sence whatsoever. Especialy when NPC’s that participate in fight almost die instantly. They are soilders, they should last a hell of a lot longer then players do when doing these events.
One slight change. For that Abomination Champion. Hit him about a dozen times, then leave. You’ll still get gold for the event, and that gives you a little more time to kill other things for loot :-)
Other than that I fully agree. I’ve done this and the loot drops are pretty good, and you can make good gold this way. Make sure to be wearing full Magic Find gear, Magic Find Jewelery, Magic Find (Luck) Sigil, with Magic Find food to maximize profits.
Magic Find gear is nothing but a gimick. There are a few players that tested full magic find for 3 weeks a few hours a day, ran and killed the same things on the same route, swapped back to their regular set up, and found barely a change in loot. Loot drops are all on a Random Number Generator(RNG), and you either get the good stuff or you do not.
I also have a gripe about Thieves. How come I can make a damage dealing thief, but I will fold right in half with the swing of a two handed weapon? Sure I can stat in Toughness, but that will leave me less stats for power and crit = a Thief that does average damage and is squishy as an elementalist. Hell My Mesmer can even take a hit way better then my Thief. WTF!
All this talk about permenant invisibility on thieves? I have an 80 thief and I am lucky to stay invisiable for a few seconds, then shortly after a long cooldown before I can be invisable again. You sure people aren’t confusing the WoW Rogue with the constant stealth. I want my thief to be constantly invisible too.
ANet time means 2 mins = 30 secs, something like that. Guess you didn’t get the memo. I know what you mean. There are times when i am told I have 2 mins before game restart, and 5 secs go by and I get booted?
the game physics in Orr are not like anywhere else. This makes Orr a very annoying place and detiers people from Orr = No pressence in Orr from other players.
All Risen in Orr have skills that, Pull, slow, cripple, etc, etc. you that make it almost impossible to navigate from point A to Point B.
1)If you move a lot around your target(thieves) you will get some lag, on your player handicaping your movements when fighting Risen. You know what I mean, when strafing your character does not straff do to a quick second of lag. Your character seems likes its rooted in place for a few seconds with no condition on you yet.
2)Your skills that prevent knockdown, etc. last a lot less in Orr when fighting Risen. I don’t care how well people think their Stunbreaker or Condition remover skills are. They seem to dramaticly reduce when conflicting with Risen. What might had lasted for 5 secs on any other mob, but when used on Risen, that 5 secs seems to reduce to like 1 sec instead.
3)Your heals can not keep up with the damage output from 3 or more Risen.
4)Your slow skills seem to change when cast on a Risen. From 3 seconds of slow on another target to like lasting 1 sec on Risen.
5)Risen absorb an awful lot of damage for not having armor and being dead.
6)Risen damage output is sick, but if you take that same shovel that crits you for 978 damage per swing, and use that same shovel on a Risen, you will be lucky to hit them with over 100 white damage.
7)my hammer knocks back or downs a mob, and the mob will be immoblized for a few secs before they get back up. You use the same hammer on a Risen and they most of the time get right back up in an instant and are not knocked back. You get hit with a Risen hammer and you are down for a good amount of secs before you can get back up to be knocked down again.
8)Is it me or does that pic or anchor the Risen puriffier use that pulls you back to him as an insane range?
9)How are red circles appearing under my feet constantly when I see NO seige equipment around me at all when in Orr? How come the Risen seige equipment can shoot through walls and around corners, and not your seige equipment?
10)Why do my heal skills get reduced automaticly when in Orr?
Bottom Line Orr is more of an annoyance then hard. The Risen that thrive there need to get NERFED some. There is no reason what so ever that my skills that I worked on to help me survive in ANY conflict get drasticly reduced when in Orr.
