Achievement points would have to only be awarded to unique actions, otherwise a leaderboard can not work.

But then you have a hard cap at how many achi points you can get (no dailies, no salvaging, no hobby dungeon master), and all those 1000 players would have the same number of them.

Skill point account wided. No. Its not currency, its used to buy skills to an specific class and only for that class. and you don´t even have to go to a merchant to do this. Even with the Myani thing you will have to get every skill. If you make this account it will be easier to make new chars, just use the wasted skills points from other char to get the better skills.

You haven’t understood my suggestion.
Keep sp, as used for skills, character-bound. Make sp, as used at Miyani, account-wide.
200sp for a Bloodstone Shard is quite a lot, and i don’t see the point of having to grind those sp on one toon if i have all 8 professions and play them all; feels i’m being punished for going for diversity, so promoted elsewhere.

It would make all merchant-dependant currencies account-wide, letting us truly enjoy the character we’d love to play at the moment.

Gold is account-wide. Gold gathered with two of my toons can be freely used to buy something for my third toon. Cool stuff.
Laurels are account-wide. I can do dailies with warrior, but then buy something for guardian. Freedom!
Gems are account-wide. No other way to do it, true, but still – a currency.
Dungeon tokens and fractal relics are account-wide. Again, i can choose any of my characters and just do stuff, then move the rewards to another character.
Badges of Honor are account-wide. We also had a developer say that WvW blueprints will become account wide (when asked if it’s fine to drop and trade blueprints with other people), but it’s just a matter of time.

It’s all really great, as it focuses on the player and not the pixel character in the game.

Hence suggestion:
Make skillpoints and karma account-wide, for the needs of in-game merchants, traders and so on; make them account-wide as a currency.

Skillpoints are primarily used to buy skills, and in that manner they should be kept character-bound. But once you have all skills unlocked, they become a currency to be used with Miyani; a currency that represents your general time investment, via the experience you got on your character. Prioritising the player, as with other forms of currency, we should be allowed to use the general pool of ‘account skillpoints’ for trading purposes with Miyani.
50 skillpoints for a mystic weapon – cool idea, but the current system hurts those who play multiple characters, even if they spend more time in-game and get more xp in general, as they need to get those 50 sp on one specific toon. Same goes for 200 sp for a Bloodstone Shard. In the end, it’s the player who crafts a legendary weapon, and the player’s general investment should count, not only with a particular character.

It would require a redesign of the current sp system, to somehow organise the skillpoints-for-skill and skillpoints-for-merchants split.
I suggest to show the character’s ‘personal’ sp to use for skills where they are now, in the Hero panel, and ‘total’ account sp to use for merchants in inventory, by karma.

Karma…
It really shares the story outlined above – prioritising the player, as with achievements and pretty much everything else in the game, karma should be account-wide. After all, it shouldn’t matter much if i’ve done 100 events on a mesmer or a necromancer; that’s a hundred of good deeds done by me for Tyria.
Also, it’s not like karma rewards are somehow overpowered – it’s mostly used for Obsidian Shards (already account-wide), exotic equipment from Orr (which is on par with other exotic gear from anywhere else) and the Orrian Boxes.
Given karma is nothing more but a currency, as opposed to skillpoints, it should be very easy to make it account-wide, with no needs for splits on the way, as it serves only one purpose.

Servers Transfers price - big fail.

Ok maybe that way, You want to move from server which is dead on WvW as you like that part of game so you have pay fee fair enough, now which server in same Tier you will chose if all 3 have same quality of WvW, strong teams, good rating, nice community that one which cost 1,8k gems or other which cost 500?

The one carefully chosen after a long, long intel. The one pointed by the guild.
I’d rather not transfer at all, but if i were to (theoretically), i’d gather enough info and see if the additional cost of 1300 extra gems outweighs the pros of that more expensive transfer or not. If the cheaper server is better, then it’s two birds with one stone.
No problems whatsoever.

I believe this thread is here just because you want to ‘protect’ Piken from getting even more bandwagoners and longer queues, before people start flocking away from Piken to lower populated, cheap on transfer destinations. While somewhat understandable, remember that WvW is not the only part of the game, nor its focal point in the grand scheme. Having medium pop with a big fraction of the population active in W3, aka creating a ‘WvW server’, is a bad idea in the first place, and now finally you see why – yet finally it can balance itself out.

Xaoc is down to one guild, ~200 people total, possibly slightly more (not concurrently online – total). It’s nothing like the initial INT or even Ruin with its timezone and numbers.

All GHians understand the frustration of waking up and seeing everything lost; all the gold used for upgrades wasted. But we’ve started doing much better, including fielding a night/morning team, quite a while before Xaoc joined GH. Not meaning to talk them down in any way, but seeing the whole server through the prism of a guild that is something different than it used to even 2 months ago is really silly.

I like the new dailies, even if they ‘force’ me to do stuff i don’t really like, as that stuff is something i haven’t done much before and i have another incentive to go there and try it (see: underwater combat, so far). Also it’s not like your account will be terminated if you miss some dailies if you really can’t bear them.

I find it both ridiculous and offensive that the OP can be summarised to “GH got Xaoc, now they can win and roll over us, because they got Xaoc, and it’s their fault we have 0 fun from the format”.

Chill. The whole ladder is changing, a lot of servers are undergoing revamps due to free transfers – and they always have, actually, as WvW guilds have been transfering ever since October, upsetting the balance here or there. It took a while, but everything eventually resolved over time.

Blacktide has been ‘high’ for quite a while; not even ‘very high’. It’s just not a good place to transfer to anymore.

It’s not an attempt to ‘recruit’ anyone more to GH, but i’d really consider moving away from BT, especially if someone’s somewhat interested in WvW.

Both BT and FR gave up SM too easily at the very beginning, and fighting only npcs was saddening given we set up 3 golems and 2 rams for each gate

I have 10 toons atm, lowest level is 24, got 5 toons on 80 already with 6th on her way (yeah, i spend too much here already… though mainly exping toons in AC and using the gold from AC to exp them with crafting). The ele, my first toon, has 100% map completion, story done, etc, though isn’t my ‘main’ now; everyone else is stuck at low lvl story and ~40% map tops, mostly ~15% (most from WvW).
I used to play only one toon, one and only, in all my previous MMOs, with others being mules or just bad necessity (crafters). I only started my altoholism in GW2, and only after i got the ele to 100% ‘everything’, and i think i couldn’t go back. It’s a lot of ‘work’ to get several toons to lv80 and gear them up (just time, tbh, but if you’re not rushing it, you’ll enjoy it nonetheless), but the freedom you get then when you choose what to pick for a guild dungeon run, with what to go for fractals or how you’d like to kill some people in W3 tonight… priceless.

Starting with the Gunnar’s Hold Borderlands jumping puzzle around 4pm GMT , then moving through the WvW puzzles.
Next stop of all the merry folk will be in the grim Orr around 6pm GMT, liberating temples to get that hot power/toughness/vitality gear from the temple vendors.

Hello, people of Tyria!
Everyone’s talking about their servers only from the WvW perspective, trying to recruit as many numbers as possible before the paid transfers, focusing only on the mass PvP aspect of the game.
There’s more to it, as we all know. There’s the beautiful PvE side of the game, as well, plus all the opportunities to get together just for a bit of social fun.

Gunnar’s Hold is not only a rising star in the European WvW (and if you want to read a bit more about it, or join the effort, be sure to click here first), but also the place to be for PvE and social get togethers.
It’s even more so important with guesting finally just around the corner. Every EU player will be able to join us for PvE and social events we organise, and everyone is welcome to drop by, say hello and have fun together
I will keep this up-to-date with the pre-planned PvE/social events organised on GH. But to give you a rough idea of what’s happening here…

1. Daily mining runs
Every day at 7pm GMT we get together to gather the high tier crafting materials from Orr, Frostgorge Sound and Southsun Cove. We plan the route ahead, based on our community node map. We usually have a commander present to organise the run easier.
Easy materials, easy money!

2. Weekly Balthazar Temple Liberation
Every Wednesday after the mining run we organise a rush at the Balthazar Temple to allow all our server mates get their obsidian shards. With guesting, everyone will have a 2~3h window of opportunity to get their shards every week!
We’ve been doing it for almost two months now, and it’s really brought the server community a little step closer.

3. Orr Temples Liberation
About every week or so we also liberate the other temples in a pre-planned rush, with everyone from the server invited to join.

4. Costume Brawl Extravaganza
While this video shows our first social event featuring costume brawling as its main point of interest, we hope to expand on simply social get togethers as well, not only ‘serious PvE business’. An hour or two of meeting up ‘in person’ and fooling around, getting some brawling champions, getting free booze from the arrangers – fun, fun, fun!

5. Jumping puzzle and achievement runs
We’re also organising runs for jps and boss achievements from time to time, be it the Misplaced Ogre or the Spekks’ Laboratory.

6. Your own event!
Everyone can organise anything they want, picking their own time and place. We’re all open to initiative!

Perma stealth is possible (surely out of combat, quite easily manageable ~50s in combat with only a few seconds downtime), also if someone’s stealthed they don’t contest the location so you can capture it despite the cloaked enemies.

EU Servers last minute transfers WvW

Speaking from Gunnar’s Hold here, using this place to ‘warn’ any potential newcomers.

GH is currently dominating in an unbalanced matchup in t8 due to some transfers we’ve already had, and will be moving up to a firm position in t7 (and still no queues). We’ll see how it goes, but… no one really cares, tier-wise.
We do not play for numbers. Not for tiers, not for seeing our ‘beloved and proud server’ ‘crushing enemies under our heels’. We play for fun – fun from organising ourselves, fun from more even matchups, fun from GvG events (CHvc & NP know what i’m talking about), fun from organising dancing parties in EB with our enemies (hello, Aurora Glade!). I’m not saying that seeing the server grow in ‘power’ and advance in tiers is a bad thing; it simply isn’t something we value or hold dear.
We do not aim to be ‘number 1’ or anything like that. All we want from WvW is nice fights, fun nights and some even action, and we all hope it soon will come as we find our new spot in the tiers, all finished with a post-matchup meeting with our opponents in our server mumble.

We are open to all and any newcomers, but if you expect us to pull insane numbers just to crunch points in WvW to get into higher tiers, we’re not the place for you.
We strive to create and maintain a sound PvX community, organising server-wide events in PvE and planning stuff together in WvW. As such, we do not have any particular ‘alliance’ around, and no specific guilds you should talk with as representatives of the whole server. We are the server, or at least try to be, pulling everyone together.

I’d like to emphasise this one bit: we’re not aiming high for WvW, we’re hoping for fun matchups and competitive play rather than rising up to high tiers just for some kind of prestige. As such, we’re neither a good option for ‘super pro PvP guilds’ that would expect the server to follow them into WvW each and every night (in fact, there are no leaders or people dictating what the server must do, and we certainly don’t want newcoming dictators), as well as we’re not a place for folks hoping to see high points in WvW for the bonuses, aka bandwagoners, as it’s not something we’re paying much attention to.

If the above looks promising to you, you might have just found the place for you.

100% of Orr on 5 toons here, never ever had any troubles, be it with dying or Orr being anyhow confusing. It’s actually very well designed, even if a bit mundane.

The waypoint in question lets people to quickly get to the temple of Balth once it’s liberated, so they can buy their obsidian shards without running through half of the map.

If you feel that your server is dying out, and will go extinct with the paid transfers, transfer away while you still can. No one will force you not to.
There are still plenty of thriving servers outside of t1/t2, at least in EU.

If he stayed for 2.5 mins in between the two screenshots, it’s hard to see how it could have been anything but intentional glitching. Falling under the terrain can happen to anyone — I’ve fallen underneath the Claw before by accident — but there’s no reason to go inside the inner keep at Bay and certainly no reason to stay there. Doing so removes most of the benefit of the doubt.

I don’t see the Xaoc dude in the 2nd screen tho.

Also, i was there yesterday – the only mentions of it on /s were ‘wtf where am i’, nothing like ‘hey look i’m under textures and can kill them’ :p Best we can do is spammail ANet about bugs like that.

If a catapult (and probably any other siege) is set up at the verge of water at the inner gate (aka as close to water as possible), and it’s destroyed with the person manning it standing behind/by/on it (not in front of it), it is very likely they will end up under textures under water. It happens quite often at southern inner Bay, possibly works the same everywhere else.
While it’s possible to target something above, and see what’s going on inside, all attacks are ‘obstructed’ unless you swim up as much as possible and use PBAoE/AoE for splash damage; even then no NPCs/gates can be harmed, afaik.

There’s no way to exit the spot other than port out, often losing the medal for taking a keep.

I had the same happen to me before. I popped a cata near the south inner and was ported underground – it could have been an accident. Did he destroy/attack when he was under? If so that’s out of line and i hope Xoac can find out who it was.

I know i was curious when it happened to me, but i swam as deep as possible and just checked if there’s any breach in the textures letting me out :p

Honestly, I would not recommend GH to you. I am probably alone in that as every server wants to have their numbers boosted with amibitions of high tier,

There are those who welcome all newcomers also having future months in perspective – securing a healthy, thriving server for both the ‘natives’ and the ‘comers’ so that we still have enough people around when the general GW2 playerbase declines and there are no server merges or they come too late.
The more populated PvX servers will be the most enjoyable in the long run.

NP has been one of the most fearsome teams we faced for months, excelling at tactical porting and hitting remote targets, all with a really great attitude. All the calls for help reinforced by “it’s NP, NP at the tower” were listened to so much faster than anything else for the past weeks.

The funniest thing is that given how close the fight between RoS and WSR over t8 is, and how close WSR and RoF are atm, it might be RoF deciding on the next t8 matchup – whether they want the known enemy or one boosted by even more recent transfers than GH had.

According to data on MOS at the moment, if WSR pushes RoF a little bit more and chips the easy points off GH wherever possible (and we can’t be everywhere, either – even if it means just sync capping depots right before a tick), WSR will stay in t8 and RoS will not move up yet.

Any sightings of cheaters on GH will be screened/frapsed, if only possible, and sent over to ANet, by own GH players. Xaoc folks are very well aware of that and even approve of it.
Granted, you may get cheaters everywhere, just random ‘no name’ players deciding to test their luck some day, but we really do want to keep our own ranks clean and will keep a careful eye not only on our enemies, but also our allies – not limited to any of the newcomers.

We were there, too – getting obliterated by Dzagonur for two (three?) weeks straight, waking up to having one-two camps and nothing else across all maps, striving to just keep our homemap safe during primetime, not to mention the EB.
We waited them out, working on our attitude and organisation in the meantime. We managed to win our first matchup for months (remember we lost the first time we got matched up against RoF/RoS now), what stirred the community and brought more people into the format, simply because of winning. We managed to maintain that momentum and only then all of it brought newcomers over, of course combined with the announcement of paid transfers.

A lot of what’s happening is down to morale on all sides, very much rising on GH (seriously – first victory since late october, and then that was the only one on the way for a long time) and clearly dropping on RoF; not sure about WSR at the moment.
The game’s very design and close run between RoF and WSR is to ‘blame’ now, too. I think that if either secured 2nd spot somehow, GH would have to focus on them more rather than kicking everyone in the weak spots.

Afaik, Xaoc hasn’t ‘fully’ joined yet. I personally have seen about seven Xaoc players so far.

I know i kinda overreacted to their swap onto Vabbi – it really seemed as they went there just to seek easy ‘glory’ of low tiers, and it really seemed it would upset some kind of balance. Turned out they didn’t manage to wreak any havoc as it had seemed as they’re not the ‘old Xaoc’ anymore. The case with GH isn’t also any kind of ‘flooding’ or ‘surprise transfer’ with any ambitions of ‘becoming the new WvW server’ or ‘blocking the transfers for PvE guilds’ (hello, new folks on RoS).
Quite the opposite – folks from Xaoc approached GH in a mature, well-mannered conversations over our mumble, were very understanding and open; tbh it was a pleasant thing, but still quite a big surprise to everyone. Their new attitude really bodes well for future cooperation, but only time will tell us everything.

Maybe i should emphasise one bit: not to take any credit off from our opponents or small talk them, but we’ve managed to build a 20k advantage over one day, with both our opponents tied close together. It was not an issue last week(s), when RoF was still considered a threat for top1 until late weekdays, and still might threaten GH’s points if only they show the organisation and dedication of the past matchups.
It’s the morale hitting, not any hidden agreements, personal feuds or train of newcomers – thanks to winning, GH morale is high and more people step into W3, while it’s going different direction for you.

On the GH/WSR front, we’ve just capped almost whole WSR map, with RoF map almost untouched and RoF at our doorstep.

top1 server of the matchup hit top3 for easier points, or top2 if they start gaining on points. We’re currently far ahead and don’t need to kick WSR to secure our position – for the moment.
top2 server of the matchup almost always focuses on top3, unless they’re very close to overtaking top1 and need to slow down their pointgain. Right now WSR competes very closely with RoF so it’s in their best interest to hit RoF whenever possible.
top3 server tries to get points wherever possible, usually off top2 as it’s the first goal and by hitting the top2 server they make it more likely to take their place.

WSR has their reasons to focus RoF down as they’re still fighting for the 2nd spot and staying in the tier.
GH just takes the easier points now, with no need to specifically hit any opponent. As WSR already occupies RoF a bit, it makes it easier for GH to hit RoF in EB as well, although GH also pushes northward in EB.

That’s how the game is designed, rather than having the two weaker servers banding together against the top1. We’ve all been there at some point, being the first, second or third, and GH and WSR both hitting RoF (with GH also taking the easy points off WSR whenever possible) is the ‘natural course of action’.
I know it sucks.

We have ~6 scouts from [rddt], not the whole guild.
They fight like demons, though.

One ~11 man guild from RoS and [TCS], one guild from WSR.
We rallied our more PvE-oriented folks, especially in guilds; people also got bored with PvE and hopped over to PvP naturally, and we’ve always had a decent PvE coverage.

I actually find it fun to see the ‘old titan’ BT falling down; some movement is there, the matchups are not stale, with the same t1/t2 all the time. Sad it’s because of transfers, but you got to top1 because of transfers as well in the first place, so yeah – what goes around, comes around.

Any cries for ‘help’ are actually silly, but i kinda understand how you feel now. Like hit by a train. It will take a while until you fall into the tier where you’re competitive enough, then until you truly reorganise the server and until you start winning, but there are servers showing it’s possible, so just don’t lose hope and… play for fun, not numbers.
