Imagine being on Mag or SoS right now… they are getting hammered by the heaviest servers with no end in sight.

Leagues exacerbated an already crappy problem (transfers and tier locks). Until they abandon this architecture, I am not sure there is much that can be done sans eliminating leagues altogether.

Mag and SoS wanted in the gold league. A lot of SBI wanted to be in there too. FA tanked to get to silver. The argument for wanting to be in Gold, is that we knew we would get stomped, but there would be plenty of good fights to be had, at all hours of the day.

Argument for silver was that we would stomp people and get the better prizes.

But, stomping isn’t fun, just ask BG, FA, JQ, SBI, HoD, and SF. It gets boring. Less fights all the time.

I imagine that some long-time SBI folks like yourself might have been ready for Gold League, but all those guys who moved there when you were T5 were obviously not excited about the challenge or were simply not up for it.
It’s going to be interesting when the Season ends and you start getting tough matches a majority of the time. 6 weeks straight of karma trains is not going to make the harsh reality awaiting any easier.

Have to agree here, SBI better put their try hard shoes on again or fa will stomp you and so till SoS you may beat mag in coverage but I can promise their EU and NA guilds would wipe the floor with Sbi blood all day with the servers current combat performance. You’re in for another exodus if you all aren’t ready to get hit hard 24/7.

FA will pass Mags quickly to get back into Tier 2. The question is how will FA and SoS matchup now, with both servers looking very different since their last meeting. Also, how will SBI’s alliance hold up when they get into the black pit of Tier 3 where every match is a curbstomp battle (either too easy or too hard).

We’ll see next month.

when SBI is getting stomped T4 numbers, when they do the stomping T2/3 numbers. No doubt FA will work its way back up but a you said in nicer terms. Will SBI find a balanced ground or implode again. 300g on implode for me.

As for SoS and FA, would put my money on SoS winning.

You’ve yet to be pounded mercilessly for weeks on end I wouldn’t expect an [Abys] member who goes from stomping T6 and would have stomped silver before bandwagoning to SBI to continue to stomp people when they realized they wouldn’t be winning anymore, to understand one bit. However, That my friend, is pretty rich.

Also our server didn’t implode, we lost two large guilds. If our server imploded we’d have lost a lot more than that. Just glad one of then went to a server that completely annihilates SBI. <3

History is not your strong subject just random fyi, without it you may just look a little silly. for example in December DH went from 12th server position to 19th, guess we should of reported a bug in the ranking system since we were stomping with some of the ppt differences you experience now.

That’s true. SBI will not field the same numbers against FA as we’re fielding in the current matchup. We will field significantly less. Our fairweathers won’t show up for that match and neither will half of the “WvW” guilds that transferred in recently. It will be the same people that we fielded back in May plus a few of the transfer guilds.

Meh thats fine, not worried. People who only show up for easy wins aren’t needed, saves us the hassle of waiting in ques to attack/defend maps. If we win cool, if we lose then we lose. As long as I have fun with the people im running with, I unnecessary find my way into the center of a large scale fight for no other reason except the enjoyment of red circles, then i happy with whatever outcome arises.

1 thing is for sure though I guarantee that [Abys] will be out there on the battlefield XD

Raising/lowering the transfer cost isn’t going solve this ongoing problem. lowering cost to transfer down is counteracted with people tying their " fun factor" strictly to winning. you can see that in the abandonment when a server looses favor. Raising the cost creates stability no doubt however, world population =/= wvw participation. It severely punishes worlds that are higher in pve. no one is going to pay the transfer cost of a t1 server to transfer to a t7 server. the wvw population itself is far too random to really put a price on it.

Think the concept of server v server v server was good on paper but it was bound to end up like a gym class sport game ( jocks on one team, everyone else on other).

IMO they should scrap the individual server competition and make a alliance system. it’d server vs other servers with overall contribution to their respected alliance. The issue with population and possibly coverage problems through how points are achieved in respected alliance. For example Jq, ioj, et are in the same alliance. Jq has a blowout week, however ioj and et loss their matches, thus putting their alliance behind the others were 2 or 3 of their servers have won their respected matches.

The key to population spread would to put opposite servers, high tier with a medium and low. It wouldn’t be immediate but it would create an incentive to shore up the ranks in those servers.

It would also serve to solve another problem, stacked servers or in this case stacked alliances. In the current state, the only thing anet can do is stem the tide by increased transfer cost……which is clearly working. By the time the cost gets high its already too late, anet can’t/won’t force people on to other servers. However with this alliance idea, if anet notices an alliance start to become one sided, they can move servers around and thus friends/guilds would still be together

Loving being on the front line so im tankier/beefer. mesmers are a pain i remember from my days as a thief way back, but you can give them hell by stealthing off their clones ( prolly will be the death of me in the near future)

The thing is, non of you are willing to budge even for a BETTER all around trait, BECAUSE right now it’s a mindless free-be. I don’t think you understand what the word rare means, which is perfectly fine this is a world-wide game now. its something that seldomly occurs, infrequent, uncommon. So yes the majority aka everyone who isn’t the 4 trying to get it nerfed most likely do not remotely care about the trait.

We care more about the unnecessary nerfing merely because someone is inconvenienced by it despite its rare use, extremely limited viability.

holy crap!!!!!! after jumping in an out of 25+ games spectating waiting around 10 mins- few hours each time ( to see new players come in) I finally saw one of these mystic AR trait using engi ( you would think for such an op trait as you claim it to be that youd find more of them). he was running that build you posted from the staged video, Sorry bro if you really wanted to make an impact you should of ran it in a hotjoin from start to finish. for all we could of known for all we could of known your necro friend could of be trait less

he squared off with a necro staff/dagger+focus 0/30/10/20/10 lived for about 30 secs ( giving engi benefit of the doubt) before necro took him out….lol so op. I’m sure this was explained in the previous several pages, but I missed it. Why does a power necro need to be able to CC an engineer at 25% health in sPvP? Either the engineer runs away and you cap the point, or the engineer stays and you kill him. What am I missing?

Ive played with a power dagger necro, ive never had/experienced an issue with engis and this Ar trait. skill 1 isn’t damage isn’t prevented by ar, skill 2 ranged damage skill isn’t blocked by AR- sure he can dodge a bit of it but your most likely running dagger skill reduce…. so 1k damage every 9 secs ( if your running a power build ), not to mention daggers easily generate lifefroce… which then gives you DS skill 1 another ranged sttack as well as DS skill 4 both yet again….not sole conditions.

lol and i didnt even bother asking what your secound weapon set is weather it be axe ( more mid-range attacks) or staff still have skill 1 there

so far theres been a elixir build and healing bomb build…. both are only decent against nub sole condition spammers and people who run dual sigils thinking they stack effects ( high five if you see what i did there)

they both suffer the same fate vs physical and self-healing. 5k damage is not remotely hard even for a non-burster to do. You have no one but yourself to blame if you don’t have at least a ranged weapon or cant figure out how to cut someone off when they are just doing circles >_>

The other weakness is their own healing. Your so focused on what happens when they hit 25% that your missing a rather big piece of that trait……what happens when they hit 26% of their life? I could understand you hitting your snares the first time you battle the engi….but the 2nd or third time you should know better.

Quit being a minuteman and blowing your load early, let him make the mistake of healing past 25% then unload your snares/pummel him. Then you wont have to come post staged fights

:/ well thats weird… all ive been experiencing from 1v1 with kain/sbi is them running to camp guards or calling for help when they start losing. One time i was even lucky to be the most dangerous threat to kain. some random guardian and me were taking a camp, it started off as a 2v2 when one of the kains died….then it became 30 v 2. Almost got the guardian to hold my beer while i toke on the 30 but atlas they made me spill it and i died

Though I would point out that “stacked” is in the eye of the beholder.Last week TC was crazy stacked against us…we could never field enough people. This week we are crazy stacked against our opposition.. etc…. Calling a server “stacked” versus its competition is exactly what this kind of thread is trying to address — the system isn’t working because you get “stacked” matches in multiple tiers, over and over again.

Actually is a classic example of a stacking. excluding the possibility of other 2 servers ganging up on you the entire match. Going through the server history you have 1 ironic match vs TC/FA and a slight one with FA/MAG what does that tell you?

if FA isn’t there to balance you out you crush(win by ~100k) the 18 servers below or lose to the 4 servers above. Even then whoever is the 3rd server seems to decided whether your 1st or 2nd/3rd. By all means though if you want only 1 match up get everyone to try to ask anet to set you up like jq/bg/sor…. because they look like they having so much fun. I bet they can’t wait to celebrate their year anniversary /sarcasm

sure you could make the argument about viewpoints, but its not a problem of when a server views another server as stacked. Its a problem of a huge congregation of people within the top 8 servers ( band wagoners or not) that can only have somewhat equal matches in a very very narrow combination then other servers.

Anet never intended for everyone to flood to one side, this is why there’s no achievement or reward for winning T1. It was suppose to be a somewhat evenly distribution of players ( minor skill and population differences). They prolly didn’t believe people would actually care what tier they were in, can’t really blame them for that since the perks are pretty much nonexistent.

This system is great because it shows you what your true differences between servers is. Most servers are having a blast except maybe the ones facing the stacked servers for that week. Its funny people would rather be bored/quit then a simple transfer to lower
server.

Before these changes happened, we were in a tier with a server that always came out on top, week after week, month after month. The reason was they were more populated than the other 2 servers in the tier (or they were more of a WvW server while we were PvE). This was frustrating for the other 2 servers, obviously. Everybody knew the perennial number 1 server in the tier (Darkhaven) could do enough to move at least 1 tier higher, but always near weekly reset they would stop and rest so that they don’t move up tiers. They probably knew they’d be beaten in the higher tiers so they wanted to stay in our tier to be the bullies. The changes have gotten us out of this horrible, disheartening situation. Yes, this new system still has flaws but at least we have equal chances of going up against “weaker” servers as well as stronger ones.

1. we were/are not afraid of being beaten by newer tiers. we drooled at the chance to meet new servers and finally with this system we are getting that chance and loving every second of it win or loss.

2. The old system was so broke that you had to win by a landslide weeks on end to move. After the 2nd week of winning yeah we got bored and started messing around more. don’t get me wrong i love doing stupid stuff but there is something seriously wrong when your whole serious is screwing around while getting 2v1 and still coming out on top by 30k points weekly :/

I tend to try to avoid “doom and gloom” but I will just add my name to the list of people who have essentially lost interest in this game after this change.

I barely played WvW last week (I’m on DB btw). Logging into giant TC zergs on every map, and almost nobody on my team was disheartening. Most of the times we had a commander on maybe 1 map if we were lucky.

I played reset night this week, and then woke up Saturday to a 30k lead within like 12 hours of the match starting…I haven’t played WvW since (I’ve checked in every day with my guild, and with the PPT…there is almost never anything to do. We are like 3x ahead of the server below us).

The problem for me is…WvW was all I did. I leveled my first toon in PvE and I’ve leveled my 4 others solely in WvW from Level 2 (well one guy I leveled to 10 before going in). It’s the only reason I play[ed] the game. With this change I haven’t really done anything else except open my achievement box. That’s sad really. When the matches are good, I have a lot of fun….but not like this. Not like this

so why haven’t you switched to a low ranking server? you can’t face a server above or below, you can only play a certain 2 servers…..i dont see how you had fun prior to the patch.

And have this happen again….nope, fine as is

sure theres alot of complainers on the forums, ironically they are all part of the more populated severs where:

They move up 1 tier or 1 sever from the higher comes down- they get wrecked…. they whine and complain.

They go down or a server from below comes up…. they complete map due to other servers lack of coverage…..they whine and complain.

They stay in the same tier of similar servers that have the coverage to compete and put up an equal fight…..do they do something here? NOPE they whine and complain about lack of diversity

2ndly If you are gonna use tier differences at least use your tier prepatch since this random tier now means nothing. It just makes you look absolutely pathetic painting your self a t5 when prepatch you were a fluctuating t3-t4. Because i had a absolute blast last week with you ill give you your highest tier.

so 2 t3’s are getting beat by a t2 XD which of the 3 situations am i describing? i guess i must have tunnel vision not seeing it through the eyes of 7 or so servers out of the total 24 XD

EVERY MORNING we are lucky if we are able to get 30 players TOTAL in wvw to hold structures and regain camps.

tell me again when your server had 10ish people on your bl trying to defend against 20-30 hoping the 2nd server doesn’t notice until noon when more people will arrive.

either step up or get out of the fire and transfer to the lower ranking servers if you don’t like your current situation make room for those who love epic impossibilities

(edit btw i dont mean for people to transfer into your current server i mean for other servers to get enough rating to take your servers place)

My server and me are absolutely thrilled and loving this new system. within the last 2 weeks and 1 day weve re-matched 2 server that we havent seen in months and are playing/have played 3 new servers that we have never played before. granted we aren’t always in 1st/2nd we arent doing that bad.

sure theres alot of complainers on the forums, ironically they are all part of the more populated severs where:

They move up 1 tier or 1 sever from the higher comes down- they get wrecked…. they whine and complain.

They go down or a server from below comes up…. they complete map due to other servers lack of coverage…..they whine and complain.

They stay in the same tier of similar servers that have the coverage to compete and put up an equal fight…..do they do something here? NOPE they whine and complain about lack of diversity

To be honest i never really understood this whole thing of transferring to a top tier in the first place….the enhancements are mediocre and little noticeable ( as they should be), A server that comes in 1st on tier 1 gets no bonus then a server that comes in 1st in t8,

or is it your trying to make up for alack of a certain something IRL to the point where youd rather afk login wvw to win…….i guess that explains all the whining though o.0

In normal transmutations the items name color is that of the item that provides the stats, legendaries are the exception this. regardless if your regardless if you transmute stats over or transmute a skin over the name will always be purple. HOWEVER in the case of transmuting the skin all footprints,sounds, sparkles are tied to the original skin. so if you transmute the skin you will lose all those effects.

I have a guildmate who got annoyed by his quip sound and transmuted pact weapon over it ( saddens me because i love that quip sound). I agree its dumb to make spend all that time to make a legendary only to cover it with a cheaper skin, but in the case of my guild mate he made the bolt barely 2 months later >_> keeps finding the exact precursor he needs lmao.

unless your loading with gold/ get t6 mates like nothing i would save them for a possiable future legendary they release into the game that you may like.

Amazing fights all around, glad I could jump in from time to time though i mostly died lmao.
Always nice to receive compliments from frienemies after coming into the match with low expectations. The midweek patch and as well as a horrible decision messed us up badly :/, learn through our mistakes though.

Out of the classes I play, the Engineer is always the one that keeps getting hit the hardest. Sure, we get some buffs to skills that no one uses because frankly no one cares, but time and time again we end up getting hit with a nerf that strikes us at the heart of where we were powerful before. It happened twice in this most recent patch:

Elixir R, our best stun breaker, was nerfed into oblivion. It is now useless as anything but a delayed toolbelt rez.
Static Shield lost the ability to counterattack while defending and reduced its stun, making the shield nothing more than an ineffective stall tactic and yet another temporary block, which the engineer already has a few of.

And before that, we had Elixir S nerfed so we lost access to all of our utilities in that period of time. Before that, we lost in-game effectiveness from the proliferation of boon hate. Before that, we had our condition damage nerfed with a new change to incendiary powder that made it less effective. Before that, we had Kit Refinement nerfed into the ground, killing our most effective build at that time. Before that, our grenade direct damage was nerfed after the introduction of sigils on to our kits (finally). Note: these events may not necessarily be in order.

Playing as an engineer has been a continual up-hill battle. It is almost guaranteed that the strategies that you used are going to end up nerfed into the ground with every new patch, and along with that some skills are going to receive nigh meaningless buffs. The balancing strategy Arenanet has employed for engineers has basically been “Nerf the top tier engineer builds, buff useless stuff no one uses, let people figure out some new strategy for engineers that works, then nerf that, too”. Couple that with debilitating bugs that crop up in every patch, and we engineers end up dreading patch day each month. All because their design philosophy in the game is that Engineers shouldn’t do damage, even though damage is king in the game.

I can’t speak for Elemementalists and Rangers because I don’t play them. But I can speak for Engineers, and the fact that we have to stack 25 might in order to play at the effectiveness that other classes play at is a clear indicator of how messed up we are.

as well as we are the only class thats has visual nerf block " ohhh you got a cool looking bp skin? here have a hobo sack to cover it". and anet likes to nerf us even when they are swinging their nerf bats in our direction

You have no idea how often they drop for us >_>. Found a few on my mesmer that i made just a week an a half ago. She is such a silly goose doesnt even have weapon swap available yet game think shes able to build and pilot a robit.

As for what they/we were/are smoking…… I am not at liberty to say, as I would prolly would recieve an immidate infraction and suspenion as well as having " it" confiscated from DH resulting in a large amount of frowny faces.

If you wish to remain pure and holy i would advise to stay away from the green smoke clouds that appear on the battlefield from time to time.

Otherwise let the sin begin and come out of your towers for full fledged glorious times.
side note on possible side effects You will wake up to your characters being odd colors, they wont be wearing pants, You will be confused to why half of the stuff in your inventory is there, You will make a new character just to lead packs using starter equipment, When the two opposing server zergs collide with one another you will frolic through this mass of people with no reason except to " see whats on the other side of this mass of people" ….. thats all i can remember for now

From the 3rd minor trait in the explosive line called steel packed powder. every explosion causes vulnerabilty.
