there is no gear treadmill. You have time gated content and shinies.
They’re fixing that soon! Ascended armor, baby!
you consider that a fix? I guess it is, it is end game if gear treadmill get added, because I will not play anymore. Waste my life chasing a never ending goal set by other’s whim, LOl
Don’t worry, they said long ago that ascend was supposed to be the end of verticla progression from the start but the setup for it didn’t get finished in time so they had to add it later. There will be ascended for each slot and that will be the end.
The magic of this game is that the answer is anything you want. Any of the things you listed will help you gain money, karma, and skill points all of which can be used to advance your main character or help you level up a new character. This game gives you rewards (albeit some larger than others) for doing just about anything other than sitting in town and talking, and even that occasionally you’ll see someone giving free ports to the top of LA jumping puzzles which is free loot.
Best? Grenadier!
While everyone else is limited to 3 or 5 targets a Grenadier can hit 15. Bigger number obviously means better!!! :P
Other than the fact that the 1500 range grenadier is far from melee.
Really the guardian is the easier melee so solo just because they have so many mechanics to keep them alive. Though the warrior definitely can go through things faster alone when played by a skilled player.
Thief are in an interesting position because stealth plays into one of humans biggest fears, knowing something of danger is there but you are unable to see it, which makes it a constant argument of whether they are balanced in pvp which means they rarely get the buffs they need to keep up in other places in the game and also give them a higher player awareness cap.
My guess is that the number comes from the way stats on gear work at a certain point increasing power and crit damage has a much higher benefit on your damage than crit chance and the ability to add defensive stats instead comes into play. Also the fact that you get 20% crit chance with fury is probably taken into account.
Whether or not the 41.9% you spoke of is accurate I have no idea.
I think Mad Queen Malafide nailed it on on the head.
It isn’t that SAB is better/more sought after than regular GW2 content… It is just content that very different than regular GW2 content, and therefore a nice change of pace.
But if we want content that is different from what GW2 is, then why not play a different game? Why bring that content that is not GW2, into GW2?
It’s like saying it would be a nice change if GW2 introduced an army first person shooter mini game. It has nothing to do with GW2, but they should add it any ways.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me. If I want a change of pace, I’ll go play a different game. I don’t need to bring Mario or CoD or anything else like that into GW2 just to enjoy GW2. GW2 should be GW2.
Ahhh see but i I could play COD and or Mario and progress in GW2 that would be epic. So the ability to “play a different game” that is filled with nostalgia inspiring references and progress in GW2 is awesome.
Where is everyone seeing purple?
Am I color blind all of a sudden?
One of the images for the next patch is a night shot of the newly designed meteorlogicus that seems to feature the moon on a pink purple sky. My guess is it will stay similar to now in the day but change to a more night sky appearance at night.
Here is the screenshot : https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/0c6a807-Legendary-Weapons.jpg
My Thief, who was my original character during Head Start, is retired to spvp only. He completed the main storyline and did a fair amount of WvW, but I just got bored of him in pve and found I prefer the more play style choices of the Warrior for PVE. Also since I mostly only WvW in large guild events these days I prefer bringing a high support guardian so I keep keep my fellow guildies up and killing. I am still slowly leveling characters of every other class.
(edited by gaspara.4079)
Totally agree. I’d like to see something similar to.. anything from GW1. Those stories were epic, developed.
Maybe I have a different memory of GW1 story, most of my memory is of the prophecies campaign, but that storyline was laughable. Every 5 missions your ally would betray you and you would stumble upon a new ally. I have never seen someone switch sides so many times as your character in gw1.
Not that long ago we were solving a murder mystery. When did murder mystery become a not dark genre? If your really looking for doom or bioshock level darkness be prepared to never be content because this game is not designed to be like that.
There definitely will be new skins that include axe and dagger as the screenshots for today’s look at next week’s patch are up in the screenshot section and include a picture of a character holding the axe and dagger (though the dagger is mostly cut off).

A monopoly only really works if there isn’t strong competition in that market to be able to stop you. However since new Precursors are create out of thin air everyday in the form of loot and mystic forge rewards its impossible to truly monopolize that market. Sure you might be able to sell 1 or 2 at an exceedingly high price, but you are left with a fair amount of that precursor and the long term value won’t be a huge increase, likely not enough to cover the 15% fee. Also since it has been announced that a more control-able way to get precursors is coming they will likely take a fairly large value hit when that happens.
I think all the minis are tradeb-able
Yes, all minis in the collections for the achievements are trade-able. But I was answering generally, if an item is trade-able ANet doesn’t mind if you pass it back and forth for an achievement or whatever, but they offer no protection from scamming.
keep in mind you will need 1 transmutation stone/crystal and you will lose the old weapon when you transmute. So there is a definite cost involved in having a skin on a character that is leveling up as they switch weapons fairly often.
If an item is trade-able and you trust the person, absolutely.
so anything from OP on exactly what he meant by trait lines having no effect?
That’s definitely the more interesting part of his post.
I have argued in the past that you could divide your points equally in all trait lines and that you can still beat 99% of this game without any problems. I hear high level fractals are the exception, but for the rest I’ve always felt it didn’t really matter where I stuck my trait points because it makes too small of a practical difference.
This game is designed around the idea that technical skill should be a bigger part than build. However if you are going up against he hardest encounters in the game such as high fractals or against other players such as s/tpvp and WvW having a well though ought build that is based around the play style your best at will far exceed a random allotment of points and traits.
Also this game is not that homogenized, classes still have abilities and mechanics that very much are only available to that class which is why you still see so many thief stealth is op, warriors are too easy in pve/dungeons, and guardians are unkillable threads. Heck mesmers still have 2 of the most useful abilities in the game all to themselves.
Tell me how that is homogenized. Also the op should be informed that all highly anticipated games especially ones that strive to try something new for the genre lose 50% of the original buyers after 2 months because they either decide the game is not for them (i don’t mean people who keep playing and complain) or get to a place that they see as having “beat the game” or move on to the next thing that was just released because they always do that.
I think it’s fantastic that they’re adding more content and perks to entice people to buy the game. I really want more players to join. What I don’t understand is why companies only cater to people that don’t own it yet, and do nothing for the people that have had it and supported it.
I have gotten mail from ArenaNet with 3 free minis and a free kite for buying gems in the past. So I would argue they very much do stuff for those that support them.
These free items are a profit increasing alternative to a price drop. Basically they are giving new players free gems and spending them for them instead of dropping the price another $10 in an attempt to maintain or raise copies sold over the next few months.
This is the best argument I have seen or heard all day. As far as the free minis and kites, I must’ve been inactive at that time because I have bought additional character and bank slots and never received anything. The profit increasing alternative is a fair argument, I’ll give you that, but unless they have something new instore for veteran players only, there’s no way I will spend another dime on this game. And hopefully, I might be able to just get a full refund and be done with it.
The real confusing thing is after a year of owning the game is ~15 gold in stuff really that big a deal to you? 15 gold is literally 3-5 hours of doing the living story stuff with a level 80 right now.

Your argument is laughable. Have you never heard of a promotion before? This is just a promotion to add players to the player base to increase your enjoyment of the game. If they were offering otherwise unobtainable items for buying the game now, then you might have a small argument, but they aren’t they are just offering a few bonus freebies for new players containing things that have been available to us for months.
Don;t forget that Ranger has the ability to shoot a 5 unicorn spread shot.
I did 3 last night and all 3 were completed including beating Scarlet. One of them even had 12 minutes to spare.
Don’t worry Lightsbane there are some major WvW changes coming in the near future that include the lakes in borderlands going away and the return of the orb buff but with a new way of attaining it. They haven’t forgotten about WvW, go read some of the WvW forum if you don’t believe me.
Living story should not impact WvW, that would be worse for WvW than better.
I dunno about that, everywhere i go in pve i see stupid balloons n stuff. You just wait for next patch, gotta be a huge celebration because that living story bs its all it got, celebration after celebration instead of content for people to enjoy in a group.
Last event was the celebration, this event is the evil plot against said celebration. Next patch looks to be the return of Super Adventure Box which is definitely group content and is not a celebration.
What do you want another temporary dungeon? They had them and when they got a ton of complaints because not enough people could accomplish them in groups they scaled it back to allow singles. If I’m not mistaken this LS segment even has a dungeon with it.
What do you want out of the content? They all provide story, filler story to the main campaign perhaps but it is still story. They have a dungeon about once a month, they add special rewards that are purely aesthetic so you are not forced into them unless you “must” have the skin. You can even do story segments with other players if you want, they don’t have to be done alone.
I might have to put into place the condi damage interrupter mesmer I theorycrafted with these runes. Too bad they won’t be in spvp for a while. Talk about some insane 1v1 ability, you either are dazed, stunned or have ~10 stacks of confusion on you at all times doing around 2000 per skill cast and that is without counting the perma 10 stacks of vulnerability and perma cripple to prevent any chance of escape from anyone other than a thief.

This is totally our fault, we dropped the ball on this plain and simple. We planned to have this messaged ahead of time to be fair to everyone, communication broke down between those who knew it was supposed to be messaged, and those who were supposed to message it and it simply didn’t happen.
As game director this is ultimately my fault first and foremost, and I’m sorry for those who potentially lost some karma as a result. It is our policy to message these kind of changes ahead of time with lots of warning, I’ll do everything possible to make sure this doesn’t happen in the future.
I’d recommend not using your karma consumables yet, give us a day or two to try and see what options we have available to help mitigate the issue.
It is cool to see you acknowledging that changes like this should come with advanced warning. At least I am one of those who remembers this is a game and doesn’t let it bother me, I am sure there are a handful of very unhappy people out there right now.
Well there goes a full set of exotics for my next 80 down the drain… oh well guess I shouldn’t have waited until needing it after the wallet was implemented.
2-step verification.
I have never been hacked, yet one person has attempted (failed password). Even if they had succeeded in the first part, they would not have been able to get the code that’s on a 20 second rotation.
Pretty much this. In order to beat 2 step verification they have to have a keylogger on your machine to long enough to get many data points of your token codes and have a good machine and program to determine your unique algorithm.
Whereas most people that get hacked do some because they use the same password on a website that can be associated with the game and that website is compromised.
These infinite tools were never meant to be cost effective. They are designed to be time saving, buy not requiring you to ever buy them again on that character (any character sorta with this kit) and for the cool effects on use.
So if you have the cash/gold to afford the convenience and you like the effect that comes with the tool (in this case it talks to you when you use it) you buy it, if not you let it be.
Berserker’s is only used generically for open world farming and dungeon farming. Its not an issue at all since everyone has access to it fine and its not necessary, just faster. For pvp, Wvw, and fractals berserker has a place but its far from universal and is even laughed at in some situations. In other words the true end game you need to actually use other things to stay competitive which is the important part.
The problem isn’t with berserker’s its with your(and a large percentage of the population’s) perceived idea that farming/reward speed is everything.
As long a people are allowed to have opinions on the internet everything will be polarizing. People can get offended at the simple fact at 2+2=4 if they so choose. I’m sure I am offending no less than 10 people just by stating this.
Learn to care less about what other people think and worry about enjoying the things you like. Trust me, life is much less stressful that way.
Someone has to be slowest.
Should i make a post crying about unfairness of warrior lacking stealth, and clones, and i would like backstab too. Oh yea, deathshroud on my warr too, where is it? I also want to be able to use staff on my warrior, and i want everything every other class has.
Anet?
p.s. Mesmer is what mesmer is, if you dont like it roll something else that has alot of swiftness.
Your comparing unique profession abilities to a boon that is widely available to everyone except mesmer. Not exactly an equivalent comparison.
Actually its not that widely available, just a handful of classes have a 25% signet to make up for a lack of sustainable Swiftness in most builds.
The only play Mesmers struggle form lack of speed is running place to place exploring and simply carrying a focus for running mostly solves this. It obviously has some issue if you get ganked by a champ/wvw enemy and your forced to fight with focus instead of your regular offhand, but that is the trade off. Mesmers are far to good at in fight mobility and basically everything else to need an addition source of speed.
You can always spend gold/money or farm level 10s to get keys to open BLC and keep a supply of speed boosters
That is probably only a bit more expensive than a player using a portal item every time a mesmer would use a portal and I think it still works in WvW unlike the portal device. :P

Obviously orrian tuffle is in demand now. It is popular for the last boss in queens’ gauntlet.
It might come back down. Presumely people no longer need it for liadri
This guy has the right of it. Though I suspect it will never go back to quite where it used to be as chances are some will have discovered its usefulness from using it for these fights and will begin using it in other facets of the game thus resulting in a larger number of buyers in the market.
Who is more likely to win the battle of free list changes you who lists and then plays the game or the guy spending 6 hours a day sitting at the tp buying/selling?
That list price is actually there to protect regular players from power traders. Regular players tend to put the item up at or just below current sell point and then go back to playing the game. Power traders sit at the TP buying and selling, if they are undercut they consider relisting. However each time they relist they have to subtract the added fee off their profit, so after a few relists (unless it is a super high yield trade) they will end up with 0 profit or even a loss. Remember most power traders are selling they looted “free” from playing the game, they are working with something they paid buy point for and so have a limit margin of return.
Whereas if a regular player just lists it and wait for it to sell, unless the sell point was too high at the time they list, then their item will eventually sell.
The best solution is for you to look at where the current sell point is compared to the 24 hour average and set your price accordingly and just let it sell. Only relist if a content change has majorly lowered or looks to majorly increase the value of your listed item.
This will only be a problem if people learn a way to get from citadel down into garrison alive to make said portal past outer wall. Otherwise they still have to get through outer to set this up and have mesmers out of combat dedicated to this strategy.
You think Anet intentionally ripped you off?
Dafk did you draw that from?
Also, you’re right, I should not be excited to get rewards at all. Man I feel so much better now. In fact, that was such a burden I let go of now I feel like walking into work and telling my boss he doesn’t have to pay me this month. I don’t need a reward or compensation for my work anyways. Silly me.
I felt his statement was a bit harsh, but having seen your reaction and you comparing rewards in the game to getting paid at work, I think he is right. You need definitely need to take the game less seriously.
If I was you I would submit a support ticket as well as put a post about it in the bug forum. Those are the two ways you are most likely to get the rewards you should have gotten.
Map completion of the highest zones (Cursed shore, Malcor’s Leap, Frostgorge Sound) will reward you with 1 time loot containing a lot of high level crafting materials, an 2 exotics each. These exotics could either be something worth using when you get to level 80 or could be worth a fair amount of gold in the TP. Always check the value of the sigil/rune in the tp before selling an exotic because sometimes the sigil/rune is actually worth more by itself. In that case us a Black Lion Salvage Kit to get it out.
Have you played today? Patch notes say a fixer patch went out last night to fix this bug. However I have been unable to play since that patch went live.
I’ve saved heaps.. HEAPS of money in way-pointing, so personally I’m happy she won
To be honest, I am much more likely to use a way point now because of the cheaper cost. I feel that the current price is what the price should have been set at from the very start of the game. Maybe we can petition this to be a permanent fixture?
I don’t get it. Are you insanely poor, or just really poor?
Not that is is relevant to the topic, but rich people who make it themselves also do so by spending wisely.
Yes because when you have 1000+ gold from flipping on the TP, you’re going to look back at the 5g total you spent on waypoint costs and say ‘’Hmm, look at how wise I am in my spending!’’
I just want to know where that person is coming from. I met tons of people during the election who were voting solely because of cheaper waypoints. When I had 3g total and 1 level 80, I was making more then enough to cover waypoint costs just from playing the game. You literally have to have 10 copper in your wallet to be legitimate about your waypoint woes. Sounds pretty stupid to be that stingy about a few coppers and maybe 2-3 silver
Add it up, its more than you think. I waypointed 35 times on Monday to save running time to different baloons. 35 * 2.35(let’s say this was a fair average) = 82s 35c in 1 albeit excessive day. If yo don;t think about how much your spending on waypointing and just do it and have been playing since release you have probably spent in the neighborhood of 30g waypointing. Which if you have 1000g+ I’ll give you is not much, but 30g is non-negligible not just to the poor.
Weapons don’t get diversely awesome looking until 80. At which point the variety is wide enough that most people can find one they really like, though much of the popular find they like things that take a lot of time/money to get.
Armor is kinda the same way but there is more variety at lower levels than weapons. Also the cultural armor have tier 1 and 2 fairly early, as well as the cash shop skins.
I would not suggest buying the cash shop skins for armor lower than level 80 because you will eventually out level the gear and be spend more gems in transmutation crystals/stones to keep the look.
I’m pretty sure when they designed the system they were going for one that could handle as wide an array of technical specs as possible and as such designed it to do a lot processing that is normally done on the client to be done on the server instead. However this greatly increases the server workload and bandwidth usage, which does create the possibility of limiting factors among those two places.
My main point is. There are a very few and select number of actually decent looking weapons in the game.
Once again, that is opinion. There are plenty of good skins in the game and there are plenty of different color combinations of weapons to choose from.
Dulfy has confirmed that the Rapier model is in the game as a player weapon model. However it has no item name as of yet accoridng to her post. She confirmed the same about the cultist fractal hammer.
I almost deleted my leftovers last night as I expected them to just sit there taking space afterwords. I think I decided to jsut leave them for a bit and if I did I will be happy to have a couple extra gold for it. Though I feel 1s each is very excessive, 40c each would have been better so that 1 stack (250) = 1g.
I believe I saw someone else mention not getting credit from a tower in Queensdale so I would post something in the bug forum about this.
Ahhhh, well I stand corrected then. Thank you Anthony.
So first the drops are bad, and now they are too good? Could you stop the nerf cry untill people stuck at work can give it a go? =)
(Why is hard (on) kitten’d?)
It is an english/american slang for male sexual arousal (erection if this is unkittened), would be my guess as to why.
Its on the wiki with the description:
“Flames of Kryta is an item that, when used, spawns a torch bundle in the user’s hand. It provides a small area of light around the user, but has no other uses. "
“This item can be used an infinite number of times. "
The Queen’s Jubille has its own daily(s) I believe that refers to completing one of the living story dailies.
Please for the love of êverything, fix this. Too OP. Just got 10g in less than an hour too.
From finding and selling cores/lodestones and T6 mats yes? If so, then you just caught the market before it has adjusted. If that is 10g pure coin and vender then oh my.
