we’re going to fight a gigantic quaggan.
i will agree wit op. please please please.
she’s just looking hot boys. rumor has it there’s alot down there.
fix balance first. then we’ll talk mounts.
i bought this game after a friend of mine lent me his actual account, where he let me create a character and try out the game for around two weeks. i was actually very reluctant and against buying it right off that bat if i didn’t get to try it out first. don’t know what a free weekend is but i agree that they have to give potential customers a glimpse of what the game is to entice. A very limited permanent demo perhaps. when the game came out, the hardcores and the old followers had an idea what they were getting into. right now, it may be time to target the casuals.
something op about rangers. this is a first.

i like the design but…dat blue. T_T too much blue killed the interest
yes it is possible to make gold in wvw. not as steady and robust as pve though. it will depend alot on your zerg’s/guild’s performance and if you spend alot on food and sieges as mentioned above. sometimes you get lucky on the loots but of course that’s not as steady and reliable compared to guaranteed golds after a dungeon rush(which i find ridiculous). worst case scenario is you’ll be at a break even on costs and rewards..
So condi fix, when?
guild wars 3 <3
i would have to agree with op, however there has to be a line wherein too much defensive sieges will make not make taking towers impossible. finding the sweet spot could be hard.
maybe they could reduce range scale of any aoe as it climbs up the y axis on a wall. except maybe for long range bow weapons giving an underwhelming class like ranger a shot at being valuable. of course sieges will need a rework on this scenario too as acs hidden in corners will be the king of the hill.
Hi, i would like suggest changing overlook area a little bit. not a chance? maybe. but before someone says anything, no my server is not using that keep. this post is meant for lower tier brackets. i have no idea how it goes on higher tiers, nor do i care.
overlook is the keep that will usually later go the server that does poorly in your tier. i’m guessing it’s supposed to help the server in location advantage, which is a joke. first of all, it’s ability to reach sm and sm’s ability to reach it borders unfairness. sm will most of the time belong to the dominating server with most manpower and resources. whereas sm will only reach towers on lowlands and valley, it is able to bang the big boss building in overlook. heck, the treb in sm doesn’t even have to be on top of the wall, it can be behind it, far from reach by a desperate and quick aoe run by the defending overlook server.
overlook keep’s water gate. the current crutch of all water gates. it’s nigh impossible to defend in this place via sieges. arrow carts if not put on risky positions will always lose their line of sight on radiuses outside the door. now compare this to wg at valley and lowlands and it’s far, far, cry. lowlands wg doesn’t even need sieges. pop up a few guys with bows and poof, you got instant untouchable defense. valley wg, on the other hand is amazing with sieges. sure, you can ac through the door but hardly works on anything ranged like omegas.
overlook is like an instant inner gate/wall battle every 15 minutes since the outer is a joke. just my two cents.

man, looking at all this posts one would assume stealth lasts like 3 hours and backstab hits for 17k dmg + thief in stealth is invulnerable and has stability
what kind of build is it? i want it O.o
It’s that 30/30/30/30/30 build that’s out didn’t you hear?
OMG! guide pl0x! :-D
dat warrior slogan
uh huh. not sure if trolling.
so, condi fix, when? give us something before new games start popping up.
yep they pretty much are. among other things that needs to be fixed. kind of amazing game’s been out that long and nada. i wonder how they do testing.
more pve ppl lootbags. GG
ugly class balancing.
it takes a bit of getting used to depending on the place and map. however here are some.
on arrow carts, don’t hastily put it anywhere on a wall. aoe will reach it. try to see if you can find stairs near the area, and place it on the edge farthest from the wall. that way, only the largest aoes can reach it, lengthening it’s lifespan for those crunchtime moments (if they can reach it at all). this however is best done with aoe skill upgrades so you’ll have better reach at the spot you want to fire. it also has an aoe that can go through doors and is very deadly and arguably op when radius stacked. it can also be put on top of lowlands vista roof(ebg) and garri (bl) making for a very effective lord room def.
ballista is a….uh, usually underwhelming siege weap. since it doesn’t fire an arc like the others, it has a poor angle of sight. with skill upgrades, range though is very effective. while it does pack quite a punch specially on siege weaps and is effective on straight chokepoints specially if partnered with ac. try to see if you can spot high places facing gates. for example, the northeast corner of overlook keep facing veloka tower in eternal bg. there’s also a spot high on a cliff in garri outergate in borderlands. my rule of the thumb before placing ballista is(as long as you have range upgrade), if you can click the object without a ballista, then a ballista can reach it where you’re standing.
trebs and catas are a bit more simple to plan as long as it can reach their target. just try to avoid placing the trebs on outer walls as possible to prevent easy aoeing unless there is a need. it might be best to partner it with an ac near it (again on edge of stairs) so it has minor defense help. trebs for example in valley keep in ebg placed at both inner wall sides can reach bravost and langor and their respective gates. even as far as danelon mine entrance.
siege weapons can also be placed on top of supply houses in ebg.
just basic suggestions
the rest, you’ll get it along the way.

more than likely it’s going to be very hard to prove those allegations. we have one in our server but we absolutely have no idea how to solidly prove what he’s doing in such a way that would suffice a report.
then pveers should stop hating wvwers. we work very hard even on losing situations for less rewards,
1) you went in to leech map completion (again).
2) you said ‘finally doing well’Not that I would care if someone said that, its a good indication they’re a pve-only player, so they don’t know what they’re talking about. But I can see how that would crap people off.
They spend hours in wvw fighting and upgrading etc, just for you to come in every now and again to see if there’s any map completion you can leech? Yeah, I understand why they cracked it at you.
Help out in wvw instead of leeching the map completion, not only will you have properly earned it, but also helped your server.
^ This.
Maybe it was a misunderstanding, maybe not. However it more than likely falls under this.
self made pedestal too high to be reached. it’s even blinding. over 9000.
this thread is going strong. i appreciate all your responses, guys. let’s keep presenting all our ideas to fix this broken class.
to the friendly thieves: my intention is not to offend you but to help you balance your class. it’s a lot more fun to play a balanced class than an overpowered one.
Deleted your video allready ? Oh no you didnt, here it is —-———->
^ best post of the day.
they probably took that as insulting in a way if they’re a bit stressed and frustrated and look at you as someone who didn’t help get those marks on the map. not unless i missed something. even i get ticked off when someone who doesn’t help in wvw goes there to get the rewards (Vistas, pois, in enemy keeps, etc), even if it’s a guildmate. my guess is it’s somewhere along this line.
blame champ trains
If you have zero understanding as to why such events are dead and want to try and scapegoat a gameplay element which has nothing at all to do with it. Then yes, blame champ trains.
if you have an if, there is an else.
i am blaming it. thank you.
Revealed completely turns them into mobile lootbags so I propose that thieves get protection on revealed to balance this.
I laughed. If you’re dying when not in stealth you’re obviously running something that has no vitality or toughness. I run apothecary, and a guildie runs Soldier’s. We don’t die out of stealth, and if we’re stealthing, we’re running from battle. Actually wear something that keeps your toughness and/or vitality up, you’ll die less.
A thief doesn’t invest in toughness or vitality because it does not help, unless of course they want to hit like a dry sponge.
Another thing, revealed nullifies a whole traitline and kills thief survivability so giving them a small cushion like kitten protection on revealed would balance all those hard counters.
i’m not one to say anything on this since i mainly run a build that doesn’t use much stealth but…if a thief only considers backstab as his primarily offensive means, he can invest in some defensive stats. the key is the hidden killer trait. the rest you can probably guess.
blame champ trains
golems are siege weapons that can move. they do this via the transformation func. it’s not a matter of the engine. it’s not a graphical question. if you can move your character around then that’s proof enough that it can be done if they want to. just develop a way to move up the y axis, and the rest for controls.
too much bragging in this thread. fight this, fight that, in this, and that. keyboards warriorz all much much. all blah. also lots of ego. unmeasurable amounts.
1. anything condi
2. god-mode. u know….
i’m a thief. i want a nuke that can crit.
while it has produced interesting queries, this thread has been all about bragging from the start. i won’t point fingers. let’s just say wvw does not give a S about achievements.
imo should be changed into cc
pve ppl will be there with fancy gear. walking lootbags gg.
my suggestion is to be a zergling for now. the term is a bit derogatory but it’s a good spot to start. besides, a good zerg is largely different from a zerg. find your server’s zerg train by looking at the map for the commander icon. follow them for now while you learn the ropes at the same time. more than likely you will have fun doing it once it sinks in. then after learning a few more things about it, then you can go on your own. there is a reason for this but i’m a little bit too lazy to type.
I’m a thief mainer and wvw is the only game mode i play in gw2. i sparingly use stealth in my build and do agree a bit that it does need to be looked at further by anet. specially the current p/d, …well, anything stealth in general. if it’ll affect the playstyle, then they should introduce something new. however do be reminded, wvw and pvp are very different. it’s a group play. if you can’t solo it, hell, bring a whole zerg. brainless? maybe, but we have to adjust to what is present. if we need to get that camp, then ****, we need to get that camp.
if it isn’t fixing condi meta, i’m not interested.
In a way, it is. The reduction in Critical Damage influences the importance of Critical Chance, which is tied to on-critical effects, which are important for some condition builds. There you go, now you have to be interested :p
as far as i know, they’re still seperate even after the introduction of ferocity. not unless there’s something i missed. if i was after proc chance, i’d gun for proc chance and wouldn’t care if crit damage was reduced by 10000% or even down to a negative. it’s something else i’m waiting for. it’s something else the majority is waiting for. i appreciate the effort but they’re tackling something arguably already generation behind. that late.
it’s a downright perfect partner for stealth as it presents an almost no risk way to being revealed. i’m sure staff is aware of it but do we really need to wait for half a year on this?
if it isn’t fixing condi meta, i’m not interested.
I like this idea. rallying the whole server. it is indeed server vs server after all
most of the map contents aka the hearts are basically ignored now because of the train. op has a point. it burns you out and does not introduce you what the pve side can offer and anyone new in the game wouldn’t know any better. old players of course are an exception…maybe?
