I find it kinda funny now that the most annoying path uses the letters F and U because that’s what the player will be screaming while fighting the final boss.
Interesting update even if it’s a bit small. Given the fact that the Molten alliance facility and the aetherblade dungeon will be coming back in the form of fractals, I bet this will be permanent.
Seems like lately Anet has been focusing less on “big” LS updates that force you to do random chores and more on one big central item in the update and some random stuff for the meta around it that you can ignore if you just do the daily for a while.
Although I thought the whole of TA was getting an update not just a new path… if not I’ll be a little bit disappointed but the new path should be fun.
You are right, that’s indeed the direction they are going. But tell me why whole TA needs an update ?
It’s been a while since I last ran it but I remember thinking some parts could use a little more polish. One path with the spider nightmare tree final boss is just plain unfun and frustratingly hard in a bad way. All 3 final bosses are kinda weak imo compared to the revamped AC bosses and some of the better boss fights and could use an update. It’s good but it would be nice if it was boosted to a great dungeon in this update.
I’m waiting for red posts before judging because Anet has stated TA was next on the revamp list so it’s extremely odd that any changes to the old paths is not in this path when the Living story focuses on this dungeon.

Hello I would like an invite to this great force.
I’m kinda annoyed that they already have a better system in the game then timers yet use a timer for the new Teq.
Temples are infinitely repeatable as long as you do pre-events until they succeed and unlock the temple, then they loop back again after a while. They also have clear indicators of this on the map. Tequatl should have one or two more pre-events before the encounter that you must repeat if he failed and only a timer if he succeeds.
Ahh good job guys, I couldn’t make it because by the time I woke up the map was already at the hard cap.
I was up all day doing this yesterday too…
I thought Joss’s posts were a nice median between having enough of a backbone to defend certain design decisions and actually admitting the faults of world 2. I find it odd Anet thinks he took things a bit too far.
I have a feeling Anet will make the SAB permanent when world 4 is finished and the super adventure is complete. Considering everyone and their mother is begging this month and last month for this to be permanent.
Is it too hard? Respect the awesome work

The problem I have with world 2 is the death rate is so much higher then world one.
In world one, plenty of difficult jumping puzzles usually ended with you falling to the bottom of the forest so you have to move back up and try again but without you losing a life. In world 2 most often if you fail, you die, end of story. Without the infinite continue coin, the experience is extremely stressful as your worried about losing your precious lives. There’s a reason Cat mario and I wanna be the guy don’t have live counters, they’re meant for you to try as many time as you require to beat them…. and try try you will.
I had the experience of a friend gifting me an infinite contuine coin in the middle of a play session of world 2-2, my attitude towards the game was night and day. Before every death was frustrating where as after I simply shrugged it off and attempted to get by those stupid dart traps again.
Honestly personally if you ask me, you should give everyone an infinite continue coin in the mail and refund anyone who bought one because it seems essential to both world 2 and tribulation mode. I’ve rolled my eyes in the past about people claim P2W but here it seems valid.
Not clear-what happens to MF gear I OWN

Isnt it possible to save some money by crafting magic find armor now and then change it after patch to for example knight or berseker, which are 2x the price of magicfind armor?
Indeed, a lot of people are probably already doing what you just mentioned.
Will Asc. crafting be time-gated per account?

The time gates are just on the first refining process, correct?
Once you get to the step to make the ingots, those are unbound and tradeable. So while it may take you 2 weeks to make the gear just by yourself, it would take much less time if you were willing to purchase those materials from other players.
The timegates are likely there to prevent the market from suddenly being flooded with materials, and quickly devaluing Ascended Gear as soon as it comes out.
It’s possible but if they’ve said as much somewhere I haven’t seen it.
It was explained while Lump of Mithrillium is account bound, the item they make Deldrimor Steel Ingots are not.
The event seems more designed to spread people through out the map and small groups are more effective at actually finishing the event than zergs.
The problem is people don’t do that and are instead running around in 2 or 3 massive zergs farming champs causing the events to upscale so much that it takes too long and fails.
Although this might get better after people finish achievements and get sick of farming it.
I don’t necessarily think the events spawn more champions the more people there are. Aetherblade events always seem to spawn 2 champions at a time per event no matter how many people show up, only certain portals spawn champion watchknight horrors, and molton alliance events only have one champion which is the main one per event.
They seemed to design the event with the intention of spreading the zerg as much as possible, however these events are still quite easy and you seem to make 5 different zergs instead of one big one.
Either way I don’t see how you can design an event that involves an entire full zone and have it be more strategic then the one they have designed now.

Tyria is too big for there to be people everywhere. Anet has given a ton of incentives to get people to spread out with meta-events giving golds, this invasion event, jumping puzzles, mini-dungeons etc but at the end of the day people are just going to go where they have earn the their next skin or where the challenge is and honestly at leveling, 200 people zerging the starting events wasn’t the funnest experience.
Still you do get some moments which these updates help pull some people together, I remember I was getting an explorer achievement and someone called out a boss that was up and a group of 4 of us decided to take it down for the loot bag, that probably wouldn’t have happened a while ago, at least not since launch.
Well if you think about it next patch definitely will be focused on 5-man and personal content if you realize what it is
I’d argue things are getting a bit better. Arah does give 3 gold plus a lot of champion loot bags if you survive most it’s paths but I’ll agree this game still rewards mindless zerging more then it should. There’s no real way to show off some of the games greatest accomplishments or rewards which is hurting some of the end-game.
I honestly believe in quality over quantity.
I thought a lot of the updates they released could have really benefited from a lot more polish and still could (karka queen could be excellent with a little bit more work). I’ve got other things to play and to do in my life so I’d perfer to come back to guild wars 2 every 2 months to play some well polished content then to play something every 2 weeks that’s really boring and feels rushed.
Whatever happened to “when it’s ready” anyways?
I have the exact same problem. Hope there’s a fix by the time the story achievements roll out.
You can get the tentacle backpack by doing other achievements, some of which will be available only next month so he doesn’t really need that achievement.
It’s true but on the other hand some personal story bits gave me the impression there’s a “history” between your noble female and Faren:
Faren: “…. but I am charming in other ways”
PC: “And the less said about the better”
I realize the line is the same if your male and I may be over-thinking things but this recent development adds to that theory.
I like the content so far and hope they improve upon it next month. So far it’s a notable improvement over flame and frost’s opening and it’s given me a reason to visit Southsun again. The mobs are tough but they’re manage once you learn how to fight against them. Bringing a stunbreaker and block skill especially if your melee helps: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stun_break
Well for challenge and rush you have 5 hours to get your guild in the same overflow and then start the event but I can see how it’s tough when your doing bounty.
Well there might be a rational theory if your noble is female. He’s trying to get with this Kasmeer girl so obviously he might think remembering his female BFF will complicate things with her. :P
There’s 5 types of events that have been added
1. Kill some champ starting a riot
2. Kill some people from one faction from killing one person from the other
3. Kill random mobs attacking a settlement
4. Collect random stuff
5. Defend some settler who got lost
They’re copied and pasted quite a bit around the zone so there’s quite a few of them around.
Still I agree I’m hoping there’s a meta-event that involves that hive. The Achievement tab says something about a Karka Queen so maybe it involves that.
There’s a lot of serious discussion on custom arenas so I thought I’d start a very silly one. Usually in any FPS or any type of game where you can chose a specific map for a server, a lot of servers pick one popular map and later try to outdo each other by offering it on 24/7 using instant respawn and a higher player count. These are often associated with the more… “newer” of the fanbase and usually the ma kitten tigmatized as a result.
So the question of the day is, based on the server setting what map do you guys you think will be the most popular that has a lot of 24/7 public servers and what sort of crazy settings do you foresee it using?
Remember it’s not about which map is better, it’s about which one is more popular :P

You know what fractal I want?
A Battle of Lion’s Arch Fractal. That would be so awesome.
Ingame notice of patch going live in 1-2 hours.
So I guess ANet counts time in “wife/girlfriend” time.
“I´m finished in 5 minutes!”;)
Na they just run on Valve time.
I think the token system is much better then the RNG system of past MMOs but it could always use improvements.
I wish you could convert tokens from one type of dungeon currency to another only IF you’ve done all the paths of that dungeon already (to prevent someone from getting arah armor and never going there) perhaps with some dimishing returns like only getting half the amount converting. Also in general I wish currencies could be converted to each other better, right now it feels like you have to repeat the same content over and over again to get something rather than trying out all the content in the game.
Hey Pen, we did Komali before she was bugged.
I had no idea Komali was a SHE.
To the OP, if you were doing a Tier 1 bounty then having 30-35 people (assuming you split the group into two) is pretty much overkill.
It’s better to do a Tier 3 bounty with that many people because that would max out (or almost max it out) your merits with just one event.
Anet did increase the scaling of events to accommodate 50 people per event. I do not know if this also applies to Guild Bounties.
The OP is talking about Guild challenges not guild bounties which only have a single tier of difficulty.
Perhaps in the future Anet can release t2 guild challenge.
I remember energy potion before the betas. I actually played the game the game at events with them in play. They were really stupid.
I’m pretty sure the culling fix in WvW doesn’t apply to pve
There were 10 quaggans held by Krait we had to free them and escort them out of danger if any quaggan died we failed the mission. There was a 10 minute timer.
That sound a bit underwhelming. Did you have to fight any boss Krait or anything?
Like i said before this needs more Tier levels , T1 to easy XD , but fun nontheless :P
HAROO to the Acolytes ^^
You sure it’s not easy because obviously there’s a ton of you guys? Though then again it’s Guild CHALLENGE so I guess maybe there should even higher tiers.
None the less, congratulations. What exactly did you have to do for it and how fun was it?
It’s kind of annoying that some of the “hard to find” bosses are spawning in t1 and even t2 bounties as well. I help out a tiny guild who has just enough people with help to do these bounties and Yakona or Sotzz usually means automatic failure if they spawn even on t1. The “hard to find” bounties should really only spawn on t3 bounties.
I’d also like to know if it’s open on any US servers.
Huh am I the only one who thought the GW1 original story was kinda weak?
First your fighting the charr and your about to turn the tide of this war against these beast who burned ascalon before your very eyes and… wait we’re leaving to the stone summit now? I guess we’ll come back to this story right…. right? (spoiler alert we don’t). Ok now we’re fighting the stone summit with the dwarves and I guess Rurik had to make a heroic sacrifice… for some reason. Ok now we evacuated to Kryta and we join the white mantle. Guess we have to get the chosen and O NOES the white mantle are bad guys and killing the chosen guess we have to join the shining blade! Bah bah bah. Then we do the flame-seeker prophecies because destiny says so and then we beat the lich because also destiny says so.
It felt like the developers created a bunch of areas and THEN decided what the story should be. Which I bet actually happened. It got a bit better in nightfall.
Not that I’m defending GW2’s later half of the story (a.k.a. when Trahearne steals the personal story) but the first couple stories you experience (your personal choices and the order stories) are pretty good.
However Guild wars always struck me as a game with good lore but the main story is always weak in many aspects and Anet’s writing is very hit or miss. Sometimes they make also characters like Tybalt or the other order leaders…. and sometimes they write hearts of the north….
Took 5 tries but we finally managed to beat grenth on Isle of Janthir as of this moment.
Anyone manage to defeat grenth, I really need the jewelry from him
Anybody have balthazar open ATM?
I hope anet eventually adds events to this zone. It’s really beautiful but sadly that’s all it’s got going for it.
Even if your just spamming CC in a PuG, defiant makes CC relevant without allowing stunlock situations or making CC unusable altogether.
Although I agree the game should explain it a little better so more PuGs can stop wasting the 0 stack on a cheap 1 sec stun and not a moment where you need to push the boss (like off of a downed teammate) or to interrupt a key skill.
There’s a few “hard PvE” parts of the game they’re just hard to find.
A few explorable dungeon paths are not exactly a cake walk like Arah path 4, Fractals become ridiculous at high levels obviously, and Grenth and Balthazar will crush unprepared pugs although admittedly due to their open nature they don’t beat the instanced stuff.
I think there’s just a problem with how their presented. If you want to find the difficult content, you’re going to have to ask around for it and rarely do you receive rewards higher then normal (except in high level fractals). Arah may be harder and longer then most of it’s counterparts but the token drops per run is the same.
Also event chains like Grenth are the exception simply because not a lot of players want to do them. Grenth is luckily parked outside the karma grind areas meaning if players want a hard break from the monotonous grind they can try and beat him. Even though other then some of the karma vendor stuff, there isn’t a good reason to do him.
So really I think there’s a decent chunk of hard content, Anet simply needs to figure out how to present it better for players who are looking for it, particularly in the open world department and maybe communicating and rewarding the harder dungeons better.
No!!!
I disliked leveling after 30. There’s no reason point other then a number going up and maybe getting a few traits.
Excuse me? If I wasn’t able to clarify my point, just tell me. Maybe it’s because it’s early in the morning over here and I’m right at my first coffee for today.
I think you got him to say your right…. in a weird way…
Haha, I was wondering how long before people were killing themselves over the new dailies. ArenaNet encourages suicide! :P
This in on cable news: MMO developer encourages SUICIDE! More at 11!
I’m pretty sure the change only means Waypoint Resses, which I think is fine.
Greetings Anet.
I’d like to make a simple question that’s probably on a few other people’s minds.
Will you eventually expand the incoming crown achievement token system to certain lifetime achievements? Like will I be able to earn some crowns for doing jumping puzzles outside of dailies/monthies?
^ Personally I think the system would be better if it allowed you to get crowns for just about everything returning the feeling you got while leveling that “everything you do is pushing you forward”.
Am I right thinking that we wil receive that new crowns both for daily/monthly and for some open-world activities?
Yes, Colin stated that you will get 1 Crown per Daily and 10 Crowns for a Monthly. This is planned to be introduced during the January update.
The blog also stated that Crowns will be offered for achievements down the track, possibly linked to “open world achievement tracks”, which suggests things like completing Jumping Puzzles, Dungeons and Mini-Dungeons, and maybe even Diving Goggles. However, this will be introduced after the January update.
I just want to clarify, the blog post never said anywhere that rewards for normal achievements outside of daily/monthly achievement will give tokens (crowns). We haven’t finalized what the rewards will be for the expanded achievement rewards, and it’s entirely possible they will have their own unique reward system.
I hope you reconsider that. Part of what makes the leveling experience fun was that everything you were doing (exploring areas, crafting, dungeons, events, etc) was aiding your ultimate goal of making it to 80. I was hoping this new achievement system would help bring some that back by allowing you to get achievement tokens by getting any type of achievement (with-in reason), thus encouraging you to do a wide array of activities instead of the same activity over and over again.
The initial version will only be for daily/monthly achievements (this will not be retroactively rewarded.) Later you’ll see a system in place that rewards more expanded achievements points which will retroactively reward all achievements already earned, yes.
However, there are some achievements which are infinitely repeatable currently. It is highly likely so this new system isn’t broken we’ll need to cap those and people who have made insane progress down one of those lines will lose some of their progress to get back to the cap. I wouldn’t recommend anyone go bonkers trying to progress an infinitely repeatable achievement category in anticipation of the release of this system, as you will likely lose some points/progress if you take it to an extreme number.
We’re still working out the details on the system, so that’s about as far into detail as I can go currently.
So I’m guessing eventually you’ll expand the system into other achievement areas?
Like you’ll get 1 token per mini-dungeon and jumping puzzle you complete? That would be a great way of encouraging people to go out and do them. And honestly if I were to put my money on “doing stuff to get early tokens” that’s what I’d do.
So the new area was added and we had 2 world events related to them, I’m sure there’s a lot of threads about it already however I’m wondering what’s there to do in this new zone.
I think I saw one event in there…. there’s no skill points, no vistas, no hearts. Nothing really.
There’s a nice jumping puzzle and a rich oricalulcum node guarded by a champion…. that seems to be it.
So Anet do you plan on adding more events to this island later or something? Maybe have it invaded by another set of dragon minion or the karka coming back for revenge. I can see it becoming a second orrish zone with a lot of events running around and I would really like to see another meta-event chain like the temple attack in Orr (which I still like). But right now…. it’s a empty zone…. a pretty empty zone but an empty zone.
