“ppl who post and complain on forums are vocal minority. most players enjoying game.”
however:
the silent players may hold similar opinions as the vocal minority.

Adding in Xbox controller support should be super easy for the programmers.

just let players ride each other
jus giv us asoras with bigger heads and huge forearms
why doesn’t jon mention these things and have conversations here on the forum instead of in the twitch thing
is there any popular PC pvp game that isnt F2P nowadays? i think that’s the only route

many gifts for dates in the gem shop means income for anet
lonely MMO men have something to do

o yea i forgot it was buried within that 6 hour vid. man you’d think 10K dollars they should advertise it more
what about instead of deleting ENTIRE threads, you guys just close the thread?
or are the mods
1. lazy and find it easier to simply delete.
2. scared that a forum with many closed threads make mods look bad.
3. less chance that people will see evidence of good posts being erased due to entire thread deletions
xeph’s thread had THREE PAGES, including a DEV POST by jon peters. if you simply closed the thread, atleast people would get to read the helpful posts it generated.
obviously a thread like “OMG IM SPAMMING CUZ IM DRUNK” should be deleted, but many deletions have removed a lot of helpful feedback and insight.
(edited by gwawer.9805)
delete this thread! it’s not constructive anymore cuz ppl are arguing! don’t just close it, delete it like you always do! delete all the thoughtful criticism! flush all of it! i hope danicia made a backup!
hey how about addressing why helseth’s discussiong of SPVP was moved out of the SPVP forums? this just happened a minute ago.
lol aaaand thread is moved. just post the quotes without referencing helseth or any links. looks like they are cherry-picking negative criticism posts again.
(edited by gwawer.9805)
guys i think at this point they know very well what’s “wrong” with their development. maybe the people at the top of anet/ncsoft is fine and dandy with the current state. in that case, we are all just wasting our breathe. instead of hanging on the forums being negative, just go and find other games to play. other things to do. move on in life, and let the remaining players enjoy spvp
Wow dude you typed up all that? that’s some pro transcribing skill
guildwars2 twitch channel bro
i think the marketing team set the bar way to high for you devs. they promised us world class PVP last august. there were flocks of ex-WoW PVP players wanting something better. they came and went. the rest was history.
yet the marketing guys still are probably proudly proclaiming “look how great we were we got anet so many sales broke records!”
(edited by gwawer.9805)
one of the most offensive communities you’ve seen? haha no, when it comes to pvp communities, this is one of the most helpful.
there are times when it seems this community puts more effort into improving PVP than anet does. that’s not a mean spirited statement, just the hard truth. pretending things are OK will get this game nowhere
the “negativity” from the community is simply pointing out the truth. the PVP devs are lucky they have such honest criticism, that is, unless the forum mods deletes another thread including a dev post
(edited by gwawer.9805)
this is our reality
They forget that yesterday’s outcry was against bad forum moderation deleting Xepth’s original post along with John peter’s detailed response.
lol dejay i tried upvoting ur reddit comments but it seems futile with the massive nest of anet lovers downvoting u and every other critical post
(edited by gwawer.9805)
People unfamiliar with the past year of PVP development all of a sudden get starry eyed and think John is some sort of Angel for making that post. I commend him for his thoughtful response, but it’s only an explanation of the problem at arena net. It doesn’t solve the problem that the PVP department is understaffed and underfinanced.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1lmon8/jonathan_sharp_spvp_balance_a_little_philosophy/
Between Reddit and this forum, it’s staggering the difference in player response to John’s post. Many people there are loyally siding with the designers and calling PVP players rude and immature. The responses on Reddit make the developers look like angels and generalize PVP players into whiny self entitled brats.
100 gold says he’ll come back in a week as a mysterious player named “Zefth”
inc thread delete cuz calling out mod! lolol
how bout u talk with your uppers and say "HEY LOOK WE PVP DEVS NEED MORE RESOURCES. I know you old guys don’t PVP but throw me a frickin bone here. "
ok jon chaplan you shave the spirit build and i’ll shave your back
we’ll see tomorrow
lol dude don’t blame us we were just letting out our raaaage.
seriously now i dont blame devs as much as i blame MARKETING. it lied to me. “world class PVP?” yeah right. never will buy a game on release again. all those years of frustrated WoW arena left me desperate
marketing set the bar way to high for the devs. attracted a player pool they couldn’t handle
(edited by gwawer.9805)
forget esports
just make the game more fun. more variety. experiment. who cares about esports
why is this thread not deleted
Nope. And I haven’t been happy. I haven’t been happy for very long time. GW2 PVP, I want a divorce!.
any threads that references forum mods shoudl also be deleted. this thread should be deleted.
Even John peters stated in his quote that he does not think the original thread should have been deleted. Even after that, the original thread was deleted, along with John peters response.
JonPeters.5630:
Not sure who is deleting this post as I don’t really see anything wrong with it. I can’t and won’t respond to everything, but my guess is thakittens being deleted because of the discussion it is generating. The crux of the problem here is communication. You all want us to tell you exactly what we are working on, but we can’t do that without getting the opposite set of complaints which is that it takes too long or we promise something and then can’t deliver on it.
Basically John peters just took out his precious work time to make a thoughtful post on the forums only to see it get deleted.
And yet they outright delete the thread with the developer post and constructive feedback. At least they should have closed it, rather than deleted so the developers and players can still read the feedback as a list the developer post.
lol bet 100 gold this thread will not be deleted.
no, we are also mad that a DEV post gets deleted. finally a dev post after 2 weeks of nothing. and poof its gone
sooo criticism threads and a dev post gets deleted, but this thread is still up
Many complaints about the game, especially lack of support for SPVP. We were promised so much during the game’s release, but after a year still feel much is lacking. Whining and complaining legitimately about features that we expect to be in the game. Just look at the cesspool of dissatisfaction in the SPVP forums. Would it be such a mess if the PVPer’s expectations weren’t set so high?
Imagine a publishing house marketing a novel as the next 1000 page classikittenerature, when the author is not a literary genius. The result is a bunch of dissatisfied readers. The author is either happily rolling in the cash, or he is distraught being unable to deliver genius writing.
What if the developers can only work so fast, and the marketing publishing department set the bar way too high, impossible to reach? Was the marketing of GW2 irresponsible to both the customers and the developers?
What do you guys think of the issues posed by Jon? I agree with many of his points. I understand where he is coming from it is a difficult position. Arenanet is a great company, but sometimes all companies need some adjustments due to reality not meeting expectations.

At the end of the day Xeph post is so easy to make (nothing against him, I understand where it comes from) because it takes the obvious common sense deficiencies with the game and just enumerates them. What it lacks are the two important aspects.
1) details. It is easy to say to fix all this stuff but the devil is in the details. There are lots of problems with how these details need to be addressed so saying “solve difficult situation X” is essentially like saying, “solve long distance manned space flight” to NASA.
2) implementation. Once we figure out how to solve a problem we have to allocate resources into how to solve it. GW2 is a huge game with a ton of systems that I don’t expect you to understand. Please just don’t dismiss the complexity and you will find yourself a lot less frustrated and/or burnt out when our a answer is that these things take time.Early on after release we had to work to combat the issues that rose up from shipping an online game to millions of players. As those have settled down, you have seen us in PvE, WvW and PvP as well increase the pace of improvements. In the last 8 months we have seen Leaderboards, Matchmaking, Custom Arenas, Spectator mode, Solo Arena, and permanent finishers added to just to PvP.
I can’t promise what we will improve next other than to say that the people with the foresight to make this game that you do all love to some extent are doing everything they can to continue to improve it.
Thanks for reading and considering my words,
Jon

^yep agreed. ppl frustrated, pent up with rage. then something sparks them to burst out and quit. for some it was this pax tournament
although its just that the market for this style of pvp game is so limited atm. you have forge, smite, and …wow (if wow even counts)…it’s not like the shooter genre where you have 100 titles to choose
all the prizee money was spent that night on beer and bongs
there was nothing left
yeah it just makes everything even more hard to see. smog and blurry
unless they put in a new co-lead pvp dev to rattle the cages and change the furniture, it aint gonna happen
yeah the only real excitement was the final few minutes when it almost seems like sync was gonna hold out long enough.
