averaging 6 stacks of might
Assuming 25 might
For solo bloodlust is better, for highly optimised party perception is better.
Thanks, that comes pretty close to what i experienced ingame (excelwars isn’t much fun to me) but all my friends come to the conclusion that precision is 1-9 l% (depending on might stacks/strengthbanner, etc) better.
Your friends were right .With the same setup Nike listed, sigil of perception is better than bloodlust by 0.6% in the first case and by 1.1% in the second.
My mistake. Although ive always found dps guard so much more useful due to the aoe pulls and reflects+aegis. I guess its not needed with skilled players but I just enjoy the extra safety you provide for teammates with a guardian. I can see myself going back to necro for fractals or using warrior or mesmer if I get a decent group to do fractals with on a regular basis.
Guardians currently bring way too much so it’s natural people want them. They also give you a safe net, but it doesn’t mean you need them. Doing grawl shaman lvl 79 with no guardian and in melee is definitely possible and doable.
- There is no rez exploit at 81, because there is now Maw at odd levels, not sure what you’re talking about.
Actually, there is a Maw at 81 but that’s because there’s no 81. If you pick 81, it’s actually 80.
I think we are counting it a different way, with that i mean go up to (as in finish fractal level 80 to get to 81.
The rez exploit is, 2 people die, get rezzed to just above 90%, then the people alive finish the rez half way trough agony, before as a necro you could plain do the encounter by jumping into DS after the second agony tick (or third if you were bored enough to grind up infusion mats).
Agony at 50+ lasts unlimited amount of time since January patch.
Actually I could be wrong about this but DS hinted in a thread recently that they take 5 warriors into fractal 79 lol. They dont bother with guards anymore they just go for pure dps. But the guys in DS are insanely good.
If by DS you mean Dhuum Stucker guild they don’t even do fractals, let alone 79.
Whenever I swap our only guardian for necro (leman) the difference is like night and day. And it’s not in favour of guardian. Good players will succeed while bad ones have to use nannies (guardians) to compensate their less skillful gameplay. Only fractal where having a guardian is justified is Uncategorized but that fractal is, in conjuction with dredges one, the most silly design I have ever seen.
They might introduce ascended armor such that it could be obtained using different ways, like trinkets are right now.
So how’s that different from equipping your lvl 1 alt with 45 AR trinkets you can do now?
I don’t run 40-48 that often. Probably twice a week.
Like I said, I do mostly 28-38 because historically from doing over 500 fractals, the best drops seem to be in this range. I was lucky enough to get a precursor at level 38 in Maw once (sold for a nice 200g).
Still, I believe that with ascended gear coming soon, the game would be extremely unbalanced if one could simply level a character to 80 and then deck in all ascended gear from saved up materials. The character is simply unworthy of being called ‘ascended’. Therefore, fractal level-gating should be a mandatory requirement for wearing fractal based ascended armor (ignore trinkets) per character. This way, not all characters will be running around with it.
You realize ascended weapons and armours will be crafted and will have nothing to do with fotm? I have 2 characters at level 80 and I’m not really fond of leveling 3rd to 80 who has max AR anyway.
I have leveled multiple characters through fractals and feel that it should NOT be account-wide.
Mes – Level 48 / 45 AR
Guard – Level 40 / 45 AR
Ele – Level 30 / 40 AR
Warrior – Level 24 / 40 AR
(+4 more characters)All my characters have the final ascended back-piece (one thats costs tons of relics + 500 ectos overall). I have invested quite a bit of time and money getting to this point.
Fractals SHOULD reward multiple dailies (at same bracket) for multiple characters worthy of it.
The system is already too lenient…people can still run the majority of any fractal on ANY profession and only switch for the final boss where the agony really matters. For instance, I have used my warrior exclusively for FAST runs and have switched to other classes for final fractal bosses and the maw fight.
How often were you doing multiple dailies in one day? 40-48 dailies especially.
Oh by the way it’s also bugged if I recall – not giving full health back after revival in some cases.
It should give full health only in water attunement but it’s currently bugged. Other variantions should work properly.
And the 8 eles out of the 1k people that play PvP… rejoice.
Sorry, I couldn’t help it. I’m so sick of their “PvP” balancing (read ele nerfs). Well at least this time we were ignored. “Yay!” I guess.
Is it better if they don’t touch useless skills at all and let them rot?
I like how you compare the Guardian to the Ranger class.
I did it?
Put some effort in and help people instead of pointing fingers. I never see any threads created by yourself, only posts bashing on others theories or ideas. You seem to be on these forums a lot, I think its time you start helping and stop trolling.
Fair enough but you pointed out extremes.
You see the evidence and you disregard it. Or maybe you actually haven’t seen it?
You mean videos in OP? Or banner run in CoF1? Seen both of them but in the former he had 2 nannies so my point stand still.
Since this topic (like almost every other) has been derailed, let’s conclude. Rangers are bad unless you have 2 nannies watching over them. Agree/disagree?
are you sure about it? I did the test and it worked for me. There is a chance that additional vunrabilities (that i apply on crit) might somehow change the results but with this trait i hit ~10% harder in other attunement while the air icon was still on.
I will test is again to be sure.
Lingering elements works only with soothing mist and flame barrier. Not even with zephyr’s speed and stone flesh.
Fantastic! that’s very close! what about your crit dmg?
Same.
It’s a ra(n)ger thread.
I’m not one for hand-holding, but saying “you have false information in your post” or whatever the case may be isn’t being helpful. Those are not the only 2 options for telling someone how to overcome an obstacle, either. I don’t know why you seem to think they are. You don’t have to babysit someone and explain every little detail to them, but you can give advice and explain things. Vague comments offer nothing and there is really no point to them.
It’s not helpful as it should be but when someone makes a video guide that ignores certain mechanics (that are fully described in dulfy guide for casuals) and makes their performance rather hilarious I can’t stop to wonder.
I’m bit interested why did you choose to bring me in?
That got me puzzled as well, we might sometimes play together but here we can defend our arguments by ourselves.
Got similiar stats with 10 less power and 23 less toughness but with 14 more precision and 57 more vitality.
Wat? Everybody knows those were achieved through exploiting. Maybe not YOU but certainly at the top of the chain of people who opened 51+ odds.
Rezzing orbs and search and rescue were exploits?
You also rip on us a lot for using guardians and rip on everyone for exploiting yet you seem to be keen on all of them and do fractal levels that can only be gotten to from exploiting. Your posts come off quite condescending and I felt like having some fun and testing your character.
I don’t play with guardian anymore and I have never used more than 1. I also don’t see how getting to 80 is exploiting. Maybe you should report that as an exploit.
If I were you, I would go watch some of your vids, there’s more than just “use smite on the bubble”.
The reason you are discredited on these forums is because you speak vaguely. You try to pose yourself as a mindful player that is only out to help and be the good guy, when your true intentions are to discredit the players that do not use similar tactics as you and Wethospu.
Players that do not even know obal or follow him as an all mighty “ZEALOT!” Trust his word over yours because you do not present yourself as useful in any way.
It’s not about using tactics that I use but about lacking common and basic knowledge and claiming silly things like “stand behind bloomhunger, you won’t get hit”. Trust his word for all I care, you’re just doing yourself a favour.
Not long ago guy called GuanglaiKangyi claimed rangers are good dps class. Some invectives were throws and now they make guides with rangers. You know how you usually call that behaviour?
(edited by haviz.1340)
Everytime I say that obal is wrong in his guides (that for some reason they think is an insult) I got a reply which defends obal and tries to discredit me.
I actually knew that smite didn’t work. I checked the wiki hoping it would be wrong to really sell it there. I was hoping to draw out the real haviz to get a passive aggressive response instead of the usually vague insulting ones that you can explain that you don’t mean anything by. I enjoyed the edited and deleted comments as well before the final. It must be lonely up on that pedestal. GGs
Smite works.
Yes, you knew about smite, symbol of wrath, hunter’s call etc and in your video guides and in this thread you claimed otherwise. Your opening post said you could even solo’d bubble just by using longbow2 and warhorn4. Every time I see anyone using long channeled skills makes me wonder if they even play the same game.
I deleted my previous post and slightly edited it cause I have bad experience with mods, swiftpaw can tell you something about that.
Wait Haviz, so you just know today that smite doesn’t remove anything? Now that’s something I don’t expect it because every one claim that all skills remove 1 shield stack.
obal and other people claimed fast hitting skills remove more than 1 stack, I and Anubarak have said it’s wrong and that it removes 1 stack but after simple test it appears it doesn’t even remove 1 stack. I had no idea about that since I don’t use scepter at all.
Ooooo lordy, I can tell that the next couple comments in this thread are gonna be golden.
You can expect obal’s zealots.
What Haviz said is a false statement. Since smite works, I figured the 2 ranger ones I used would but they don’t. You can check the wiki http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Volcanic_Fractal
“Also, saving the “multiple shot” skills for these occasions is recommended. Note that not all multi-hit skills tick the shield multiple times; for instance, the Guardian’s Smite skill ticks the shield extremely rapidly, but the Engineer’s grenades only tick once per volley."
If you speak from experience, you should really spend more time in fractals. Watch this simple clip. Smite not only doesn’t remove more than 1 stack, it doesn’t even remove more than 0. I heard you were a good player.
-_- we know, you also can’t condition a block
You can with necro or warrior with signet of might.

#LemanForCouncil
He can even bribe me.
Newest backpacks from zephyr sanctum upgrade bought from TP can’t be deposited in PvP locker while those bought from proper npcs can be.
While it would be convenient (personal lvl 49 on my guardian and 30 on my necro), I disagree with the way you say people are experienced enough by now with fractals.
If you pug sometimes you should know that, I’ve seen terrible players at all lvls and being good with say a guardian doesn’t make you good with another class.
Besides not everybody is playing since the release of fractals and not everybody has full AR on all their characters either.
With this change I can see an increasing number of people leeching from your party for more chance to get a weapon while they may not be experienced enough with their fresh new 80 or even geared properly. If you never pug that may not be a problem for you though.
How’s that different from people having level 20 and doing 48?
Mages have animation and a rather distinguished sound effect.
You can’t facetank and 100b mobs without cc at higher levels. They’ll kill you before you even make a dent on them.
iff things don t oneshots you they 2 shots you…and considering you are not pplaying a 1VS1 but usually a 30VS5 where 30 focus on 1 you don t need PVT for sure.
Also an ascalon mage at 20 <=== hits with 0 telling for 11.000 and you have them in Groups of 6-8 mixed with other stuff.
In zerker you can actually rally of mobs with 10-15% HP…..that means you can afford to use opening bursts with less risk….considering the aoe nature of an ele you will probably find a nearly dead target to rally off.
Ascalon mages have a tell.
Ascalon fractal
That’s cc+dps check.
Dredge fractal
Promotes boon removal and condition damage dealers.
Old Tom
I’ve seen people using guardian tanking with a tome. Personally, I use earth elemental.
Lava veteran grawls
That’s cc+dps check.
Lava elementals
You need projectile defense or mass blinds and those don’t come free with zerker set
Arah 4
One vast jumping puzzle. But please don’t tell me simin is dps check.
Right. What I mean by “no exploits” is fighting the boss the way it is intended to be. This implies being potentially exposed to its attacks.
I think we can all agree that out-ranging the Asura in arah p2 is not intended, for example.
There are more bosses you can outrange, even lupi has its own safe spot. Anyway, I did solo p2 until alphard and except lupi I don’t think weapon choice matters that much.
@ Haviz
I used to have a more than decent anchor guardian perma running with me. But he has stopped playing now. I had traited vigor then, but now I have learned how to play without it. Basically I was using dodge too much. It’s a gameplay choice.
I do all PvE content (High level fractals and dungeons).
In PvP elemental surge is massive! You can blind or chill, but also build more offensive pressure so that the enemy has to be more defensive. It fits really well when you have team mates who expect you to reliably root a given target for 4-5 seconds on demand.
Also since enemies don’t expect me to run this trait it gives a lovely element of surprise: countless times I have channelled churning earth, my targets not walking away, waiting for a timely dodge, while I just cast arcane wave. No need for lightning flash anymore
Currently I’m levelling my ele to lvl 80 fractal (got 1 char there already) and some mobs have inappropriate skills like novices in cliffside strikes are able to deal 25k with lotus strike (that’s autoattack) and just 5k with backstab/heartseeker while on the other hand cultists in ascalon can hit you for 25k heartseeker with full hp and no might stacks from monks. Endurance is a resource every decent ele should master to manage and only use it for hardest hitting or punishing skills but on levels 70+ it’s really hard to get hit even once and live to tell about that. Btw, you seem like a decent player so if you would ever try something challenging pm me and we can make a fixed team (I don’t pug) for fractals 49+.
About elemental surge, I’ve been using it mostly for arcane power+hurl and arcane wave infinity range immobilize (shame immobilize doesn’t stack because arcane wave hits with condies twice) but after 1-2 surprise any decent enemy won’t fall for the same trick.
Yes, but I mean without using exploits
No exploits, some bosses have strange aggro mechanics and range.
For fractals like dredges or ascalon, having engy and necro with epidemic makes those two almost faceroll. Condition damage has its uses and zerker builds are punished by some mobs/bosses who have protection.
Lupi was always targetting me with his life drain with glass build.
I am pretty sure you could even solo Arah with staff
You can solo few bosses with staff while being afk.
I play PvP and PvE without vigor from traits (or even weapons: main-hand dagger). I compensate for it by using the focus in PvE, and elemental surge in PvP, for example.
In pve, do you have a guardian with you? And what content do you do? And how elemental surge helps you in pvp since whenever I use it, I mostly use it to immobilize enemy.
Tbh, Our Renewing Stamina is WAY better than Vigor Trait on Mesmer. Our trait procs without any Setup at all, all we need to do is keep attacking and it procs,no worry. Mesmer Traits requires some conditions to fullfill to proc:
1/Clones has to be Shattered to get the effect
2/You have to be close enough where Clone shatter to get effectSo I think Renewing Stamina is justified to be a Major trait.
He’s talking about critical infusion not vigorous revelation. If you want to compare other vigor traits compare it to soothing disruption.
You still did not clarify anything. Give me a specific statement or situation that was posed as false or misleading.
He wrote that ranger is able to basically solo shaman bubble with lb2 and wh4, since those skills hit multiple times. That’s a false statement because every skill removes just one stack, no matter how many times it hits. That makes long channeled skills like lb2 not only bad but even detrimental. I’ve seen players claiming to be good using a5 on warrior just to get rid of the stacks while there was no grub nearby. Seeing something like this should move your hand towards your forehead.
o.O seriously?… then just warrior lbow 5 it…
He’s trolling you.
Please elaborate on the “false information” part, I am curious.
Volcanic fractal part.
Other professions can’t summon spirits or run the ranger passive trait buff.
That’s just damage increase. I was asking obal to emphasize their strong points that aren’t simple dps increasement. To avoid further misunderstandings, I know what they are capable of, I’m just trying to improve opening post which contains some false information.
Frost Spirit and Spotter is a 12% group damage buff.
I think interested parties realize that. But like I’ve said, any proffesion can bring something to the team like vuln stacking, blinds, aegis, projectile defenses, cc, etc. And in my opinion obal should focus on that part, not damage capability. In other words, what ranger can do that other proffesion do worse or can’t at all.
Every proffesion can deal similiar amount of damage under optimal conditions, I don’t really know why you had to test it. Issue with other proffesions like ranger is their utility and what can they offer to the team.
any idea when will anet be implementing this?
Yes, in this half of 2013.
What then? Anyway you were using one in p1 i think and i can’t imagine that you did more than 2 (and a half) chain.
I did 4 full chains in p1 which you can clearly see in video.
Yeah, if Sandy would just have not completely wasted it…
You’ve been doing about 75k damage in phase 1, to do 100% more haviz would have landed 4 full autoattack chains which seems a bit unrealistic.
I don’t use LH in p2.
Weth said it was annoying since he doesn’t even see the circles and that happens when you are in front of him. I said if you stay behind him it’s not an issue. The red circles will appear all the time if your behind him and will give you a chance to dodge. I said that is the only thing you really need to dodge if you can keep up reflects for the other attacks which makes the fight easy. Give it a shot.
They still don’t appear all the time at higher levels. If we get him next time, I guess he could record.
He was in a red circle as was I. I used sword 3 to evade it and he dodged to evade it. The guardian reflects are about as good as they are at lupi phase 2 aoe as they are for bloomhunger aoe so you still need to dodge them. The reflects are useful for his poison attack and ground pound though and are what make the fight easy as long as you stay behind him and dodge red circles.
Weren’t you saying that if you stay behind him you wouldn’t have to dodge his agony?
look at what happens first 5 seconds
2 circles appears behind the thief
just one arrives on target while the other hit the thief on his way even if thief is not in the aoe.
It’s a ranger.
You can’t tank it at 48. I don’t think there are more either but I don’t do below 48. I’ve done the fight a lot and never get hit like that if I stay behind it. You can see what happened to people in front of it and me behind it and the damage it does at 48 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GirF3psJMU
Then why did you and the norn guardian dodge at 0:13?
I don’t think you quite understand how thief stealth works here… all stealth attacks, including the pistol one, only removes 1 tick, the attacks are slower than auto attacks, and you get revealed after hitting the shield once. If it was as easy as stealth to wreck the shield then this fractal would be a joke.
Every single skill in the game removes 1 stack of his bubble but I thought that getting your attack blocked (by using any skill, not just stealth ones) doesn’t give you revealed debuff. Unless this boss is an exception.
