Overall a nice matchup roaming wise. With the exception of a few perplexity encounters, I’ve had my fair share of fun.

Thank for your replies (even to the troll ones).
Thing is, I want to earn the money in a “legit” way. With that I mean:
_no TP flipping (although I have quite some stacks I am planning to resell at a high price)
_no gems

So, basically I end up with a few ways:
_Dungeoning
_Champ Farming
_WvW
_Meta Events
_Node gathering/selling

Before the nerf, champ farming neat me around 10gold per hour (considering both the silver I got from each bag, and the materials I got), and I could do that every time of the day. But now it got nerfed, and gives me half as much I think.

Dungeoning, I like that and I am eager to learn the other fast paths I have never done before, I heard they give quite the amount of gold.

WvWing is out of the question, and does not provide enough gold to cover my needs. I get 1gold per hour when raiding with my guild, and only during raids.

Meta events: what are your thoughts about them?

Node gathering: it could be fun (I can easily gather them with my Ele or Thief). From my previous research, I earned the equivalent of 5-6 gold per hour (assuming Ancient Wood price at 6s and Ori at 5.5s).

Any other opinions?

Since I am in need of money, and since champ bags got nerfed, what are the fastest dungeons to complete?
So far, my daily run consists of CoF P1, CoF P2, AC P1, AC P3, which give me approximately 10 gold for 1 hour (1:30 hours if I get bad pugs).
I never did SE, CM and Arah in my life (just did the story), but I learn fast and I have a lot of classes at my disposal (see sign). CoE is fun, but it takes so long and if 2 pugs misses their dodges it becomes the longest thing ever, so it’s out of the question.
So, in an “average” skilled group of pugs, what are the fastest dungeons after the ones I mentioned?
CoF P1 takes from 5 to 10 minutes.
CoF P2 takes from 15 to 20 minutes
AC P1 takes from 10 to 20 minutes
AC P3 takes from 15 to 20 minutes
(of course it depends on the pugs, I try to put “experienced only, no switches, zerker gear, path X” on my LFG but you never know what you really get, so…)

So, after the recent nerfs to champ drops, what is the most efficent way of making gold, besides TP flipping?
Is it dungeoning? Or do champ drops still provide a good reward/time ratio? Or maybe node gathering/selling?
I used to do AC p1+p3, CoF P1+P2 every day (around 10 gold in 1 hour with good pugs), but since I have more time to play these days I would like to know from more experienced PvE people how do they earn their daily gold

I don’t usually kill upleveleds, but when they chase me for 30 seconds straight I need to at least down them in order to keep roaming.

It’s good for Phantasm Builds with 20 20 0 30 0. I use it all the time in sPvP.
In WvW I use the cond removal on shatter though, because I have Traveler Runes and it would be wasted otherwise. But yes, it is NOT a totally useless trait.

But nevermind, the only people who could understand this are PAIN guys, I’ve yet to see a FSP guild behaving nicely as they all blob up and care only about loot.

On another note, please show up at Deso Windmill from 6-8PM UTC if you are interested in some nice duels.

That’s quite the statement you are making, FSP has a lot of guilds that run solo and only group up if it’s realy needed but i guess you figured out the whole server in these couple of days. Well done.

This is not the first time we’ve faced fsp.
From the previous matchup, Kale&Punk were almost everytime together, and they even admitted to it in a post (though the poster said “we do things separately but we work together”). And the same could be said yesterday for PunK ruining all our fights with PAIN, and AoA doing almost the same thing in Deso BL (but I forgot the name of the first guild).
Sure there are some times when you are respectful, but from what I saw lately you just liked lootbags.
I’ll gladly give a Big Bag of Loot to everyone attending next PunK raid if they promise they won’t interfere in a fight. Just tell me your names.

To the FSP mesmer using perplexity I just roflstomped in Deso Ruins: please reroll another character, you don’t deserve to be a mesmer.

To the Deso Mesmer with Eternity (or Sunrise), nice fight in Deso Ruins. Too bad the FSP zerg came in and killed me before I could /bow (I would have let you rez, shatter mesmers need to be preserved in WvW).

I assure u last night would have been an exception, for most of our event there wasn’t any Deso blob on map and we had quite a few guilds running events and most were struggling to find fights, so as u can imagine Orange swords on map became quite an attractive thing, which drew a lot of attention. Ofc not long after that, Deso had 2 guilds come on the map as well as a pug zerg which livened up our night a bit more, but up until then it was a real struggle to find fights in last nights event without one of our own guilds already being there.

I’d partially agree with the OP, but I find that 33% more Confusion Duration could be useful for Condi based builds as a Major Trait in Illusion Adept.

The 10 points frees up a lot of builds that would go into illusions for the cooldown. Old builds that didn’t use illusionists celerity might be making some trait point changes. This is a variation on the old build I was using – it became a lot more effective gaining clone on dodge and confusion when clones are killed. You’re going to see some interesting combinations that Mesmer will be using on December 10th. I’d argue it wasn’t really worth going 25points into illusions just for the cooldown – but now since its inexpensive to do so it’ll free up build diversity.

Yeah, was thinking of something like that too. You’ll lose 6s cd on The Prestige, but you’ll gain 8s CD on Decoy so the amount of Stealth you will have will be pretty much the same.
BUT the condi removal for Torch Skills was really useful for survivability. Against Condi Heavy classes, that build will not help you staying alive all that much :/

That’s what I try to look for when I jump into WvW with my thief. I admit, though, that your servermate was quite harsh to jump in that way… if I were him, I would have waited the fight to end and then I would have proceeded to stealth ress you and then I would have kept going my way

It is really difficult to earn money through crafting.
Most people craft things because they need to increase their level in a specific craftmanship. Since they usually don’t know what to do of the crafted item, they sell it at the usual market price.

The trick is that A LOT of people need to increase their level in a craftmanship, so the demand for raw materials is really high. On the contrary, the demand for crafted exotic weapons is really low, because even if you salvage them you won’t get back all the materials needed to craft it.

Last time I’ve been killed by a Perplexity user was… long time ago.
If I smell perplexity I just start permastealthing and wasting my opponent’s time. This is the only case I rely on permastealthing in 1v1s actually. If I’m particularly evil I will even call out for more people, zerg him and throwing siege on his corpse, hoping he rage quits the map. Roaming in a map with a perplexity roamer in it is too much annoying for me.

No. I need to focus on warriors, having to pay if I lose is a way for me to be more focused.
This is a “free” giveaway, the only thing I ask in return is your experience as a Warrior, which will hopefully make me improve against them.
Not saying I don’t need practice against Rangers or Guardians (or any class), but this time I am more interested in Warriors.
BUT, if no one is able to beat me I will be happy to send those gold to whoever beats me

I sometimes do put in the 10 points to SA for the condi clear, however it kills me to waste those points when I could get more dmg. or movement ability…

whenever im facing engis and necros on the other team which is almost always, it takes about 5 seconds for these suckers to double team a full condi stack on me which i cant do much about.

There is another option: don’t engage with those classes you know you cannot beat.
If you are weak against conditions, don’t start a fight fight an engi or a necro. In sPvP your role should be mainly the one of roamer (quick decaps of unguarded points) and burst-er, so pick up those weakened targets and keep pressure on them.

Keep in mind that you are NOT supposed to beat any other class. Accept your weaknesses and deal with them.

PU mesmers are one of the best roaming classes out there.
Phantasms get destroyed in 1v2+, even against bad players it’s a build that does not work, unless they are full zerker rangers.
With PU you could easily win 1v2+. 1v4 are even possible with PU assuming you are skilled.

Nevermind, most of wannabe roamers don’t even know the cd of every skill in the game and just want easy mode to gank upleveled rangers.

Speaking of rangers, I met a fairly decent one in GH ruins today (was from Fort Ranik), was tagless and was using Sword-Dagger+Greatsword and kept perma immobilizing me Nice fight there, too bad people kept showing up whenever one of us had a slight advantage over the other, if they didn’t we could have seen a victor. Because as a D/D or D/P, your main source of damage will be backstabs. You will land only 3-4 hits then have to get back to either stealth or kiting.
Now, with the 10% chance on crit to gain 1 ini, there was a chance that this trait does not even proc in this limited time frame. With the increased chance of 50% the chances that it will proc by such quick bursts is highly increased – actually I would say that you will CERTAINLY get it to proc at every burst you do.

With the upcoming change, I will CERTAINLY get 1 ini back at each burst I do, as a D/P thief at least. Then, when I have to get back to stealth via Black Powder→Heartseeker, the trait will be recharging, and it will be ready to proc again on the next burst I do.

This change will hurst only P/X thieves, and S/X thieves to an extent, because these thieves will either have bursts with a lot of hits (P/X) or will have to keep constantly hitting to do damage (S/X). But D/X thieves, whose rotation is usually:

D/D:
CnD→Backstab→1 autoattack chain→CnD→Backstab…
or
D/P
BP→Heartseeker→Backstab→1autoattack chain→BP→HS…

will benefit A LOT from the upcoming change.

While I agree that now we will be more vulnerable to conditions, don’t forget that the main source of those conditions (Necros, Engis) will have their overall condi power slightly decreased.
This does not affect Condi Wars (BUT they can only apply 3 conditions so we won’t have much problems with that) and PU Mesmers (which will be even more deadly after the patch).

Please reroll ranger in WvW. Even after the upcoming buffs they will still be a free, quick and easy kill.

If you salvage everything, yeah, those are the results.
One night of raiding with my guild in WvW (4hours) gave me around 200 pieces of Silk Scrap.
That’s my math.

PvP: Phantasm.
PvE: Shatter (but stopped doing so a lot ago).
WvW: Phantasm

The nerf to Infusion of Shadow was pretty much needed: no more perma stealth thieves in WvW.
I main D/P too, but I rarely chain more than 2 HS inside the blackpowder field. Usually I just need to chain 1 to proc stealth.
Thing is, I will not be able to troll a zerg endlessly anymore. Now I just have to run if too many people start gathering.

The nerf to warriors was pretty much needed. Personally I would have addressed other issues – such as the cast time of Pin Down (0.25s still seem too few for me), but we will see how Longbow becomes after the change to the burst skill.

Glad to see that my Staff Ele builds for guild raiding and Phantasm Mesmer build for sPvP won’t be touched – actually, the Mender’s Purity buff will be really appreciated, at least I won’t have to give up Decoy or Blink for Arcane Thievery (or Null Field) anymore.

Also, the slight nerf to Engineers pleases me because their condi bursts were almost on par with the necro ones and had so many ways to mitigate damage that they were really tough to take down, both in WvW and in sPvP.

As for the Ranger… I don’t know. The change of Natural Vigor hurts a LOT imho.

Can’t say anything for Guardian as I rarely use it since it is not a class which is meant for me :/

It would be a better world if every thief rerolled ranger. More free kills in WvW.

I just wonder if we can see our new star on the troll sky as well during the next week against Millers Sound and Far Shiverpeaks. Both servers have very sizeable and skilled guilds and also a much larger WvW population.
