Anywho I’m finally level 80, saw some of the nice cultural armor and almost had a stroke when I saw the prices! XD
But they look sick so I’m going to get to work on that and maybe do some crafting, all while rerolling what I’m going to try to make as a heavy support water elementalist. We’ll see how that project goes. still having a blast though my one track minded exploration push has burned me out a little, but that’s more my fault than anything….can’t sleep yet, must get 100% map complete on Lornar’s Pass. <- Did actualyl say that once >.>

Just “did what I wanted” and got thrown off a bridge because my #3 skill (whatever the hell it’s called) shoved me off.
“Learn to play!” you’ll say.
Um… no. That’s not learning to play. That’s learning to deal with the failure of the developers to realize it’s a role playing game. No one, ever, EVER would hurl themselves off a bridge unless they intended to.
So it’s not lack of skill. It’s kitteny design. I should be able to hurl myself off a bridge. But unless I choose to, it shouldn’t happen.
This is reason #4,708 why what was promised wasn’t delivered. Was there ever a “you won’t hurl yourself off of bridges” promise?
Nope.
But if I have to explain why this fundamental and forced game mechanic is kitten broken to you, you deserve the game you got, and I wish you well in it. I just hope you never procreate or vote.
I’m sorry but people die from doing dumb and unintentional things everyday. Driving. Working. Even fixing things around the house. You may not have meant to do it, but that’s what happens when people get careless or aren’t really concentrating. Sorry if you were expecting an invisible wall to keep your character from leaping backwards off a bridge.
You mean like the invisible wall to keep me from swimming into water that’s too deep?
Or the invisible wall around mobs that let’s them hit me when they’re facing the wrong direction?
Or the invisible wall that prevents me from finding a way to climb that mountain range in my way?
Or the invisible wall that surrounds thieves when they die?
Or the invisible walls that suddenly crop up when a blade of grass or a 2" high barrier blocks my long bow in wvwvw?
Or the invisible wall the keeps me from climbing over a “fence” in every city in the game?
Or the invisible wall that appears when I use a “combo” that turns my axes into frozen bullets of death?
Or the invisible wall that blocks the camera that magically floats around me while doing jumping puzzles?
Or any of the other 10,000 invisible walls in this game?
Can you be more specific about which invisible walls don’t make sense?
Sure I can. The invisible wall you want to be there so you magically don’t jump off a bridge when you use your shortbow escape ability because you haven’t learned how to not spam every ability that’s not on cooldown.

Watched the first presented video up to 1:02. Noted Skill 2 is a leaping attack. 3 is an AoE bleed, 4 is a snare and 5 applies vulnerability. I’m not a pvp pro but I can say that anyone worth their salt is not going to spam down 12345 if they wish to be effective. If anything, it should be 2, 5, dodge, 3, 4 (or 4,3) then 1/autoattack.
Now then, got to 1:02, first fight in the video….First skills used: 1, 3. OP troll fail…

I’ve been on Tarnished Coast and now Fort Aspenwood. Tarnished Coast is clearly RP oriented. Only place I’ve quested with people openly RPing during dynamic events (bet that adds a challenge, try RPing while dodging hits!) and have witnessed players huddled in taverns spread throughout the world.

Sometimes when posts get down to the bottom of the page the next reader that clicks on the thread gets thrown to page 2, where there is not yet any post content.
Many times this can be circumvented because there is still the page buttons at the top of the thread, however I just ran into one that didn’t give me those buttons and I was left staring at a contentless thread.
Here’s what you do: On your navagation bar in your browser you will see at the end something like:
/page/2#post303221
Change the number after page/ to 1 or the next lower number if you’re on a bigger page.

I just like kiting on the shortbow, I know that’s mostly autoattack (especially me since I corner kite pretty well so I rarely have to use my dodges). It’s like a simple game of tag with every mob you meet, I’m not ‘it’ much. =)
As far as long cooldowns on abilities, I think most people haven’t learned to manage weapon swapping yet. When I burn my cooldowns in large fights I automatically switch to a new weapon and burn those cooldowns. Then all I have to do is wait until weapon swap cooldown is up before repeating. Along with the elite skills (I run signet builds so I don’t really use my utility skills).
Anyway, I’m getting to a point where I use abilities that match the situation, so I’m not just spamming whats up and I’m swapping weapons for the might buff and then back again, sadly, in time I will have a rotation for big fights, but I’m sure that will make alot of Rangers happy once they learn it. =P

Well the short answer would be no it wasnt because of that. 5 mans arent considered end game content anyway for arguements sake, but even so trade chat used to be exploding with lf groups before the dungeon finder. Also any person that plays wow knows that u might be looking at 30 min max for a que unless you play at like 3am. This thread isnt really about wows lfr or lfds system anyway. Its about gw2s endgame content. which is all but null and void.
You apparently weren’t paying attention to general, among the many complaints about tanks (and healers) fishing for nearly complete dungeons to get their badges, speed runners kicking anyone who wanted to do optional bosses, and general rudeness with the whole kicking system, one of the chief complaints has always been queue times for dps.
The point is, they needed those systems because the bulk of their players don’t care to deal with the BS that comes with being in a raiding guild for the sake of progression. They needed those systems because without them, most people wouldn’t bother exploring their content. That’s the truth of the matter.
No, this thread is not about the lfd/lfr problems though, however it is also not about your perceived lack of end game content, by which I am assuming you mean fanatical dungeon and raid grinding for shiny gear. This thread is about what we the players would like to see as “end game content”. As you can tell by the initial responses the general consensus seems to be that we don’t need carrot based progression.

Actually, Meadows, before WoW finally introduced LFD and LFR, only about 5% of you needed a purpose. Everyone else didn’t want to be bothered with it.
Actually before lfr and lfd the mass consumer base complained that they wanted a “taste” of the purpose as well but that the current “purpose” that was in game was too difficult for them. Thats why lfr and lfd was implemented in the first place.
Couldn’t be because people complained about not being able to find groups for dungeons because no one they knew wanted to do them, so they had to pool the resources for an entire battlegroup and even then queues sucked because no one wanted to tank and heal the same crap over and over. An entire battlegroup, takes dps players sometimes over 2 hours to find a group. Two hours to find 5 players. One tank. One healer. Really? I thought people wanted to run dungeons over and over in the name of end-game progression!

On one hand, not much skill is required to best someone with superior equipment, on the other hand, the winner probably spent years of his life in the professional grind, making all the right moves and contacting and securing rides and sponsorship with all the right people to get to the level he is at. While in this example, the driver had to showcase some skill to gain enough trust to be given that ride, most of it was earned through dedication and perseverance.
Take from that what you will.

I always want more stuff to explore for my endgame. More hidden places, hard to reach, secret methods of acquiring access. Hopefully updated content will provide this but I thought it might be a neat idea to have the methods/clues dropped with end-game dungeon bosses. Something like one or limited time use pegasus shoes that help jump a large gap previously impossible to do.
I would also be happy just with increasingly intense lore. Most times I raid just to see what the dungeons look like and the bosses and see what they say and how they tie in to the world, once I’ve seen it I’m usually not interested in seeing it again. I’ve somewhat been disappointed with the lore late in the going, the voice acting kind of lost its rhythm, almost overdoing it and having some bad lines. =P Sell me that story! =D
So yeah, make the dungeons diverse enough that they don’t get boring, offer clues and rewards that help further secret world exploration, and just sell the dungeons on good storytelling and I’d be very happy.
Also unrelated, Anet please add the zelda secret discovery jingle in the next patch. It would be the best update ever!

I never really payed them much attention until this afternoon. Some random elementalist and I were killing risen when we accidentally aggroed a veteran. She poppsed a fire field and I happened to be standing near and I noticed the burning condition going crazy. And then a light clicked in my head…..I stayed near her as we kited and everytime she dropped a fire circle or a wall I made sure I had the shortbow combos lighting that thing up.
Don’t need to be in the dungeons or in pvp to try stuff and see how things worked…I wasn’t even looking and I found out just one thing. =P

Average 30fps solid. For whatever reason I get 60fps in snowy areas. can even fraps around 24-18fps even while there is moderate combat occurring around me. The only time I ever have fps issues is right after alt-tabbing back ingame, I have ot rotate the camera 360 degrees and let the entire surrounding environment load or something. It’s fine after that.

I Remember i tried Ranger shortbow.
Auto attack, a poison AOE, and 3 abilites that help you keep range so you can spam auto attack more.
And then you remembered to swap out to your horn / axe to give yourself a speed/might buff and drop the hilariously awesome pigeon attack while simultaneously aggroing everything in range using your standard axe attack and then swapping back to the bow to reapply your poisons and stun/slow the champion mob you are trying to solo? No? Man, you’re no fun. We didn’t even get an aggro clusterkitten worthy of dropping the 3rd Flora Artillery unit on.
PS: I use my AoE poison on single targets, stun, run around to the back, fire 5 poison shots at point blank range…..stand there until the mob decides you are a bigger threat than the bear.

I have had one post removed that was just too short. I have similarly noticed mods remove posts (from others) that lack content. (once saw someone quote me and reply HAHA, that one got removed. He reposted it later and added a comment of his own, that post remains)
I have also noticed my posts removed when entire threads are removed, and to be honest, those threads were troll threads or rigged for flame wars.
So to answer your question, I have noticed a few of my posts go AWOL, but I understand why it happened.

I just use WASD mainly for strafing and directional dodging, all other movement is handled with the mouse / double button click for forward movement. I run a signet build so I don’t need to reach for skills 7-9, and 0 is my flora artillery unit. So I pretty much run with default setup.

I don’t feel pressured at all. Honestly, since I am enjoying the game, I actually want to spend money (about a monthly subscriptions worth) so I hope they find neat things to put on the cash shop so I can help em out. Dances would be epic. Things like cow finisher moves, also epic. New clothes and pets. Fun stuff, I don’t support p2w upgrades.

Alot of people like Justin Beiber too, but that doesn’t make him a good artist. Alot of people liking a game doesn’t make it a good product, you have to look at the underlying reasons why something is popular. One of the biggest reason’s WoW is so popular is its ability to run well on extremely low-end machines. It appeals to the lowest common denominator hardware-wise and draws in the biggest possible crowd because of it.
Trust that many of us coming from WoW left it for the very reasons people are complaining about this game. End-game progression raiding for us is a sham and a poor excuse for “end game content”. I’m sorry, but I have to laugh everytime I hear someone talk about how there’s nothing to do but do events over and over and over and why isn’t there end-game raiding. It’s like they completely fail to see the irony in that statement.
No, I don’t want to be given 3 raiding dungeons that I have to run over and over and over to “progress”, which by “progress” i mean stand around in the capital city for 6 months waiting on the next major patch or expansion so I can run 3 new dungeons that make every dungeon before it and all the gear I worked for completely obsolete. There is a market for people like us, and that’s why we’re here.

It amuses me that so many people have a problem with this. I understand the waypoints are costly but seriously, do you use waypoints to travel everywhere? What is the point of exploring the vastness that is Tyria if you’re just going to quickport to every place and make it all seem trivial anyway?

I don’t think he particularly needs a treadmill, it’s the fact that doing anything barely gives you any money.
I haven’t once gone over 2 gold, there’s way too many gold sinks, not enough ways to make gold.

ON one occasion I have server hopped to get around glitched events, on another I was lucky enough to get dumped into the overflow. All others so far (up to Iron March) I have just completed through sheer determination. (Found the one logger who wasn’t dead or glitched that was spawning ghosts and guarded him till completion, Iron March 100% !

Oh, and I do it because I am an explorer. I want every inch of the map explored, every nook and cranny probed for secrets, every rock that even looks remotely like it might lead somewhere special tried and tried again just for good measure.
I didn’t spend hours playing the original Zelda burning every single bush or bombing every wall on the map because I wanted new shineys. Just saying.

Somehow I think shouting “BARE IS 4 FITE” before going bear will garnish more interest.
I like it, people automatically and seamlessly assist other players without so much as a word to one another. It’s a weird form of socialism without all the awkward banter that usually happens after another player helps you kill something. “OMG, you play this MMO? I play it too! We have so much in common, lets be friends!” (0.o)7

I don’t see open-world pvp working out too well the way this game is set up.
Anyway having the game burn you out mentally isn’t a bad thing, you aren’t paying a monthly subscription so feel free to log out, walk away from the computer, and go do something else. I think alot of people spend too much of their daily lives at their computers anyway.

If you ever want to wrap your mind around what an exploit is and exactly what level arenanet is willing to ban you for, google ‘Goons 4×4ing through the Sandbox’. This is an example of an exploit (or a brilliant manipulation of intended game mechanics depending on who you talk to), and in killing two birds with one stone, demonstrates the kind of people arenanet will go after.
