I guess 3 mesmers, with 9 clones in total, doing 10k+ aoe damage would probably look more acceptable than 8 marks.
I have been on a three Mesmer team. It wasn’t pretty and it doesn’t work.
Weakness-Good stuff however having it go on the strongest offensive classes is just kind of kittened. Let some bunker classes get at that.
Conditions-Biggest gripe in the game. Everything else people can deal with as far as hard counters go. Skills that inflict conditions compared to skills that remove conditions are just way off balanced…. Trait reworks or something like X% reduced condition damage for each unique condition on you.
Mesmers-Phantasm damage needs reduced. Not directly no no no not that way. However the trait empowered illusions needs to be removed or replaced with something else. Phantasm mesmers are the only OP Mesmer spec right now. Moa even people that have mained Mesmer since beta think moa should go and be replaced with an elite phantasm or another elite of some kind. Beyond that give mesmers better condi removal and they will be in a good spot
Guard-Overall okay…
Warrior- They are just adding to the AOE condi spam with the sword/sword LB combo.
Thief-It has gone from HS hero to LS hero… LS needs to be blockable so there is better counter play…
Necros-Give better survivability. Get rid of dhuumfire and do something about the insane amount of damage fear does from terror.
Ele-Good changes. Could prolly use a little bit more love on the bunker end of things.
Engi-Nerf HGH mainly through making might stack runes on par with boon/protection duration runes in pvp. 15% instead of 20% and bring the stunbreak back to elixir R that was a bad move guys.
People are so mad about someone pointing out just how ridiculous certain classes are right now…. And a thief is prolly one of the least useful classes in PvP compared to others right now. He was just more having fun with it in his picture why is everyone immediately thinking he is calling for a nerf. And yes I do think necro is beyond OP but I think his picture is speaking a truth here. Also class stacking too if it was 3 engis on that point he would have had a rough time too.
Now that sky hammer is out of the rotation its just ledge CONDI CONDI CONDI CONDI CONDI… win! No real counter no real way to reduce condition duration… Classes need traits that are guaranteed condition duration reductions. Even freaking engi 25% immunity isn’t enough…

I know the feeling a I love a bunker engi build. I was once told it took no “skill” by a phantasm Mesmer (best and most OP dueling spec in game)… I think the cool thing about engis is just how many blast finishers we have. It borders on ridiculous. One build can have 5 or 6 blast finishers I think…. Compare that with well anyone.

Yes I do I also know that while reapers mark has a pretty high CD Chillbains/mark of blood aren’t too bad in comparison. And be able to kill any class 2v1? No That is fine… What bugs me is when a full on bunker guard or d/d cleric ele still has no chance at holding on for more than 5s in a 2v1 against 2 condi spam classes. And its not just marks Scepter is pretty ridiculous for conditiosn Scepter 2 just adds to it then we have signet of spite or corrupt boon/epidemic. Please tell me more about how necromancers can’t spam conditions. I am not asking to be able to hold 2 condition based classes on a point indefinitely I am asking for people that try to build bunkers (pretty much still required to try doing) to have a chance at lasting longer than a few seconds.
Phantasm damage is insane yes. However! A phantasm mesmer will only have one maybe 2 stealths. and since our illusion summoning skills got nerfed in this last patch mesmer stealth is on a 40 sec CD and a 90 sec CD respectively. That is far from overpowered. And if the mesmer is taking torch then its one less phantasm you have to worry about laying into you because the pvp iMage just lol. no.

I am absolutely not unbiased. I acknowledge this and I understand it completely. However this does not change the fact that the majority of the people playing this game completely acknowledge that AOE condition spam is out of control.
I have outlined the things that I think would help correct this. Whether or not they get implemented is up to the powers that be ( i can only hope that they have something better or they truly do listen to the forums.)
My bias comes from match after match of facing nothing but AOE mindless condition spam.
The credibility of a persons post is directly relative to how objective it is and the manners used to present the info. By the time I had finished reading, “…Fix this, I don’t care how…” “..kitten this…kitten that…” I had pretty much decided your an kitten. People tend not to listen to kittens. I appreciate your passionate on some level and have strong feeling, but aggressive is aggressive and rude is rude. No one listens to blind fury, despite how deep the well of passion is that it came from . Just say’n.
The OP was made after a slew of matches that were against nothing but necros and condi spam teams. It is the meta and there is no direct hard counter. Also read the second posts I have made you will find they are much more objective.

Now on to HGH…. Might stack runes should all have their duration decreased to the same level of the protection/boon duration equivalents. Why is someone that builds for a high uptime on protection has to suffer more compared to someone trying to infinitely stack might. This change alone of reducing all might stack runes by 5% would fix the issue with HGH engi condi spam and make it be more tolerable. Bomb engi is not as bad as grenade engi simply because bomb requires you to be melee, bomb usually procs burns, and confusion, HGH procs burn, bleed, poision chill and vuln…. Big difference you see…

I change my builds regularly and theory craft several builds for the classes I play and the glaring gaping sore that is staring everyone in the face is this; in the current meta no matter how much condition removal/immunity you pack the high amount of aoe condition burst and pressure will win out everytime. There is no hard counter to condition builds… This is something that should be addressed quickly. I am sorry you don’t see it but there are several others in this community that do and they are fed up with not having a fighting chance because they don’t run cheese FOTM meta builds.

You know what? You can rely on other classes for condi removal. But no, you think your build should be able to do anything and win any other class easily.
Mesmer shatter is halted by one simple button press. (Take engi rifle 4 cures immobilized BAM shatter avoided.)
This thread has jack to do with mesmer. Just because a mesmer is in my signature doesn’t make it my only class (Actually been doing rifle bunker engi lately.) And lets put it this way unless a class has a complete wipe of conditions in their healing skill they are usually going to lose against any condition based class in a 1v1 and if one team has more condition based classes than the other team (say they are a burst bunker comp) the condition team comp will win every time.
Even with the engineers condition immunity at 25% it is still next to impossible to keep up with the insane amount of AOE conditions being thrown around.
The two biggest culprits necros and HGH engis. I know it sucks that bomb engis have less animations but bomb engis are easily kited and and only have two bombs that should be greatly feared bomb 2 which is a fire field and concussion bomb (pvp confusion=LOL).
Also i dont think my build should be able to do everything at once. I do however think that a proper bunker build of any class with runes of melandru should at least have a chance to live through a 2v1 against to condition heavy classes (THE POINT OF A BUNKER IS TO FIGHT OUTMANNED MATCHES!) until his team gets there. But right now it is not how it works any bunker of any class is usually bursted down faster by two “burst” condition builds (yes they exist) than by two regular GC power based classes. If i remember right you main a necro and would not want to see their current god status nerfed but it needs to happen. Necro and HGH engis need brought down (Engis have so many other great builds).
Some options i would like to see that i think would be good:
Anet Can either up condition counters through the following methods:
1. Regeneration now stacks intensity. Bleeds which in this game are the antithesis of regeneration in the boon——>Condi equation stack in intensity. So why not make regen do the same. It would actually mean healing can be a decent counter to the ridiculous amount of bleeds on a player. It would also give those classes which have crap access to condi removal but great access to regen heal through the conditions.
2. More traits that counter conditions: By this i mean give more of the classes better access to condi removal in their adept trees. Mesmer menders purity is a good example of this gone wrong… What good is one heal skill to remove one condition going to do a mesmer when they have just been spite signeted by a necro. That is an instant non-elite I win button… Which is not okay.
3. Reduced damage from conditions on you. A minor grandmaster trait for certain classes IDC which could be 3% reduced damage from conditions for each condition on you. This would not completely negate condition damage but it would at least give people that try their kitten dest to bunker points have a legitimate chance at doing it against condition damage classes. (We have a boon that increases condi damage AND power.) So we need a way to fit in reducing condition damage AND power attacks….
Now in the interest of fairness and to keep anti- condition bunker builds from still being able to steam roll through GC builds traits like ele and engi x% more damage for each boon on you need removed. These could be replaced with the reduced damage trait that was mentioned above.
Or Anet can fix the AOE condition spam through punishing the way conditions work now:
1. Remove or greatly and I mean greatly reduce the damage from terror. Mesmer halting strike would be a good comparison on things that usually don’t do damage unless traited and now it only does damage if the foe is actually interrupted. Thief mug (which was nerfed for obvious reasons) is another good comparison…. It is something that does way too much damage for too little effort.
Dhuumfire should be replaced with torment. I think torment is much more fitting for a necro than burning that never made sense to begin with.

When a team has tons of condi removal (2 separate anti condition bunkers) but still gets owned in every fight because zerging is encouraged in these ridiculous maps but still gets bursted due to high AOE conditions something is kittening wrong. People think skyhammer was a skill less map? kitten you got to be kidding me there were way less zerg fights on this map than on any other kitten map in this game where the biggest AOE condi spammer is the winner.
Fix this, all classes need a way to completely wipe conditions in their heal skill I don’t care how it happens just do it. Or tone down the way AOE condition spamming works max the amount of conditions a person can have on them at a time or finally make it so that kittening toughness is a hard counter to conditions the way it is to direct damage. Do not give me the BS that vitality is supposed to counter conditions the way that toughness counters direct damage bold faced lie that is in the way the game works. All classes need their condition removal upped or condition needs to be countered by toughness or protection the boon. This is beyond stupid ANET.
Only adjustable mechanic should be dodgeable cannon and even that is a stretch. Having the cannon undodgeable makes it more important on this map than the secondary objectives on any other map.
Finally a map warriors are awesome at and they nerf it because a few pve’ers don’t like there being a mechanic that makes them look like a bad player for standing still

This map is by far one of the most fun and dynamic maps in this game. With the exception of small insignificant secondary mechanics on other maps they just as well be two dimensional.
I fail to see how 1 or 2 days of this map in the tournament rotation is bad.
If people only play when there favorite map is in the tournament rotation, and they remove there favorite map, people just wont comeback anymore.
People need diversity anyways, this map gives people time to relook at other skills besides the skills they’ve been playing with for 7 months.
As far as the map goes, I think its perfect where it is at. The cannon should get bunkers off the nodes, it makes the cannon a lot more important. Last thing engineers suck on this map, they lack stun breaks, stun breaks are huge on this map because it could save you from being feared when about to run off cliff or being knockbacked and laying on the glass too long. If you come in with 8 knockbacks that’s fine, all that means is I’ll make short work of you, I don’t have to worry about you breaking a fear or stun.
Engineers are god on this map. I love my engi build. Its amazing here. Do I only have one stunbreak? SURE! But I will make even shorter work of anyone that has less than permanent stability.
Mesmers are nowhere near dominating in all areas. The meta Mesmer brings ZERO count it ZERO condition removal to a fight. They bring portal which is situational at best and illusion of life which is bested by signet of undeath (All necros I play with agree this is better) and toss elixir R which is a great instant self rez and great with teammates…. So that leaves us to Mesmer is good for portal…. Other classes bunker better and other classes DPS better some do both at the same time. Just because clones confuse you does not mean Mesmer is anywhere near overpowered mkay?

This map was extremely fun and extremely hilarious. Some things that it really made it stand out from other maps.
1. Positioning- Now we can go on all day about how people think positioning is important in all maps. But face the facts bad positioning in relation to you enemy was never that big of a deal. Sure your positioning on the map over all may be if you were extended too far from your team but I am talking in relation to the one opponent you are facing at the time. The fights on this map really felt more intense because you were either
A. Fighting with your back against the wall trying not to get pulled into the sand wurms or you were trying to position it so you run over the glass and then pull someone on there and you run off… (apparently that takes no skill or timing…) If you mess up well then you are both taking a huge sand nap. I had this happen where a necro spectral grasped me on to the glass but he didn’t get off as soon as we got to the bottom in /say we both just said “hahahahahahahahahaha” which brings me to my next point.
THIS MAP IS FUN and competitive. IMO fun should come first. There is nothing more hilarious than sitting on B and you look over and see 2 or 3 people falling to their deaths because the animation is hilarious.
This map forces a new meta that is specific to this map. Now some people hate it. Most of the people I played with loved it. Even some people in my guild (a warrior) said he hated all the CC and he hates that his build doesn’t work for the map… Simple solution CHANGE YOUR FREAKING BUILD! Hammer warriors with kick and fear me and rampage (lol it finally has a purpose) are amazing on this map. Yet some people just don’t want to adapt but they just scream they hate the map.
I have read somewhere that Anet doesn’t want people to use the same build for every single map in tournaments…. So why do people get all bent out of shape when there is finally a map that encourages a new build for your class?
People say there is not counter play to this map? To be honest this is the first map where there is a large amount of counterplay other than just bunkering a point and hoping you don’t get condition spammed to death. Stability is more than a minor annoyance. Knockbacks and pulls are way more threatening. The fact that this map makes you build for it is what makes it great.
Anet bring the map back into rated matches and tournament rotations.
To the players build for the map enjoy it and make laugh as you play because after all its just a game <3

Oh yeah it eliminated downed state too like people wanted…. It made guardian consecration skills more useful.
It is the only map where condition spam isn’t the meta. It is a map where warriors and engines should actually be feared.
It made the secondary mechanic a big deal like people wanted, conquest isn’t the only objective like people wanted….
It gets here, “OMG THIS MAP SO BAD REMOVE NOW!” we are back to temple, forest, legacy, khylo…..

I actually think that would be interesting it would give them time to cap the point but not give them a free kill.
Thumper turret knockback is far from dodgeable no obvious animation. Accelerant packed turrents also not very dodgeable. Engi Shield knockback is not very reliable so rifle is what I use (plus I have the pvp version of the precursor, its pretty sweet)
I disagree on mesmer being the “best” on this map blink is a little finnicky on the glass panes and mesmers have 1 push and 1 pull both of which are now extremely obvious and extremely dodgeable. My engi build on this map has 8 knockbacks…. I love my mes but I love playing other classes as well

Objectively:
This map heavily favors Hard CC builds. That is to say that any CC that physically pushes or pulls your enemy is prime for this map…. Now how many classes have no access to any hard CC builds?

….. Exactly. Some classes have it a little bit better than others for hard CC builds but then those are the classes you send to the hammer everyone else you send to points. If you have 3 people from the other team fighting for the hammer then that means you can at least 2 cap them fairly quick.
This is the first map that you have to be legitimately afraid of knockbacks and launches any other map they are an annoyance and no real threat which is why no one built for them.
The map requires heavy thought into positioning yourself and the enemy. Which once again is not bad and helps up the skill floor to play.
Just because there is a map that heavily favors hard CC doesn’t mean that it is game breaking or non competitive. It means that maybe you should stop thinking your build=God Build and you shouldn’t have to adjust your playstyle for the map.
The meta of this map is whoever executes the best CC wins. You can say it takes skill all you want, but if that’s all it comes down to, then it is a terrible map.
Kind of how condi spam takes tons of skill on other maps. And whoever can condition nuke a point fastest is the most “skilled player?” Really…
People wanted more dynamic game play. They wanted secondary objectives to matter, they found conquest unbelievably boring, they were sick of bunkers, they were sick of endless condi spam…. Anet gave us this… Which is great.
Not only does this map like other maps have a secondary mechanic (Cannon), it has tertiary mechanics thanks to the glass and if you wanted to really stretch you could say it has quaternary mechanics with the launchpads (that one is a stretch for sure).
So bam Anet gave us more dynamic maps while still keeping it conquest (maybe that will change).
This map forces positional awareness more than any other map. I have already heard people moaning about how a thief shadowstepped onto glass and then scorpion wired them onto the glass then shadowstepped away leaving them to fall through the glass….
Apparently that took no skill? WHAT?! That is an amazing use of CC mechanics with the environment to give the thief an edge. Thieves spike traps and tripwire are getting use. Skills that are deemed useless in other maps!
This is a map where hammer warriors are a very legitimate threat and knock around engies are not to be trifled with.
Does the cannon hit maybe a little too hard? Sure! But that just makes the fights to control it all the more important. It almost turns the fight in the cannon area into a king of the mountain deathmatch arena…. Didn’t people say they wanted deathmatch? You get it up there. People finally have a reason to use their disabled traits (The necro reaper fear, Mesmer mirror of anguish etc.)
This maps invites an entirely new style of play and because of that people are kitten ed? Please go play another game then.

This map doesn’t fit the condition spam Meta so its bad? Please. Its the first map where you have to build for the map and not the opposing team. People are actually afraid of knockbacks instead of mildly annoyed. This alone is a good thing it adds importance to skills in all classes I even hear thieves are finding use for spike trap and trip wire. This map IS GOOD AND SHOULD BE IN TOURNAMENTS
Give me an example of any class (Besides mace/shield warrior) that has reliable “spammable” CC rotations please. Most are knockdowns or stuns which will never throw you off an edge. Access to actual launches and RELIABLE fears is pretty limited and on long CD.
To elaborate: If you cannot watch for the super telegraphed animations of launches, you deserve to go over the ledge. Banish is easily avoidable, Necro marks can be evaded, and their wall is kindergarten levels of easy to avoid. Plus the one magic boon called stability that denies it all even if you were clumsy enough to get caught in it.
Class with spammable knockback, accelerant packed turret thumper, bomb kit, mine, and rifle engi. Your welcome

You want engi on this map not for conditions they can actually spec tanky as hell as long as they have their knockbacks. Its really funny how an engi can take 2-3 people at the cannon because he knocks everyone back all the time.
Okay lets put it this way…. Guaranteed protection from staff #4 gone. HOWEVER in combat overall protection uptime got INCREASED. Protection is the baby of my build and I tested this. Overall protection uptime through fields and staff 4 is UP…. Not a nerf a bug fix. Let us stop whining now.
And another bonus. The chaos armor from combo fields actually grants protection like it should So staff5+2= Chaos armor and protection when they hit you (come on people are gonna spam hit you when you have chaos armor on) and the staff #4…. Think of it this way. Its finally and I mean FINALLY working as intended across all fields.
How many knockbacks does ele have? How many does mesmer have?

Because in PvP its power precision vitality. And why I have no clue for the most part vit is a joke in pvp…… They need to introduce more stat combos in pvp asap. Or another trinket… It’s annoying that in pvp you have no choice really on your stat combinations except for a amulet and jewel.
I haven’t used staff in months. We’re as viable as ever. It sucks but its not the end of the class. Try using PU and stacking up protection boons. Tell me if its more of less tanky than staff bunker. I thought it felt about even, just a different play style.
^This…. It sucks that Chaos armor no longer applies protection on activation. IMO the cooldown should now be way way less. Also there is a bug where chaos armor doesn’t give protection if you are getting it through a combo field even when you get hit… IDK anet is just being kittening kittened now.
Its like an offensive duration of my permanent protection build. I likes… How many stacks of might are you sharing with the group in dungeons?
Also have you considered going more defensively specced by that I mean putting 20 into inspiration and going for mantra group heals? I ask because if you run a dungeon with one or two warriors they are going to be pumping your group with 25 stacks of might anyways… You can bring the defensive support.
The problem is that heavy condition cleanse builds for some classes leave them as threatening as a white underleveled mob.
Bullcrap. Shadow arts condi cleanse spam thief still crits backstab for 4-5k on high toughness easy.
Mesmer just needs 10 points in inspiration and mantra heal+null field.
What we’re seeing here is a case of people wanting to keep all their offensive perks with free defensive boosts.
You may be non-threatening to bunkers with the damage sacrifice, but that is intended. Your builds doesn’t get to address every weakness it has.
The fact is every warrior I see wants to run full zerker, gs, and axe/shield. And they want to be able to do the ridiculous damage they already do while having high uptime.
And the answer is, you can’t. If you were allowed to do that damage to someone for prolonged periods of time, thieves would be booted and so would any spike class really in favor of a warrior who can not only spike, but has better sustained and cleaving.
I run a 0/20/30/20/0 bunker Mesmer bunker build with condition cleanse through a phantasm plus heals and runes of melandru this is likely the most anti condition Mesmer build that can be made aside from shattered conditions which because of its placement in the most anti shatter tree mesmers have is rarely taken. And I still can not keep pace with the ridiculous condition spam that is occurring. I know d/d bunker cleric eles and bunker guardians that are still having a hard time fighting back against conditions.
Fact is AOE condition spam is too strong and overpowering every other class and spec in the game. Right now the winning team is not who has the best strat and point spread. It is the team that can AOE condi nuke a point fastest. No strat no counter play. Just zerg condition nuke point cap and move on.

Only some did you not see how TP steamrolled through all opposition because of 2 necros (they said so) with absolutely no bunker that should be a huge hint hint also the trams they faced generally had a bunker guard/ele both of which have some of the best Condi removal in the game… Condition cleave is the meta right now mate its sad but true.
So one team does it and suddenly its now “The Meta”? Yeah, no, I’m not buying it. I still run into way more power/burst/bunker teams than I am teams that focus on conditions.

In a condition build it can last for 10.5s on an 11s cooldown and does 8k damage if ur enemy is moving. Simply awesome sauce.
