hey, none of that, now. when i did manage to get online the other night, we left AR’s border about 5 minutes after to go defend ET BL… when we finished doing that, we went to SF BL and started taking stuff there. a weaker target is frequently a smarter target, but that doesn’t mean we don’t hit SF at all!

i’m mostly trying to be nice, but honestly, the few AR i’ve seen posting... most of them are rubbing me the wrong way with the attitude of their posting. you guys aren’t the big dogs in the park anymore, but you still bark like you are. makes me agree with any attitude adjustment anyone on ET or SF wants to mete out to AR... maybe it’ll stick before you guys fall into the black pit of despair ET almost found itself in not so long ago.

Now we have low wvw numbers because EVERY major wvw guild has left. we’re left with a bunch of die hard smaller guilds that just want to play, or new random players who are trying out wvw. AR is a high population server so we’re going to attract people to the battle field if we can keep some part of the maps, and i think we’re doing pretty well for what we’ve got.

honestly, AR guys, ya kinda make me LOL. when i saw the matchup while i was still at work on friday i was excited for a new opponent. then ya came swaggering in here all spit fire and vinegar with the “thanks for the bags” comments. and THEN we got into some weird reverse kitten contest of “who has the smaller army” (my pic was taken at 7pm on a friday, by the way, but we’ve since recovered some numbers. still not huge, tho)

honestly… i’m still glad to be matched up against an opponent that seems to be a good match size-wise, but i hope the kitten-talk dies down. i think that’s why ET hit AR’s border so hard last night… someone felt someone else needed an attitude adjustment. i missed about 90% of it, tho, as i got home from work very late

SF, i’m looking at you. you have a few LITTLE BOYS who need their leash tightened. they decided to come gloat (and spew sexual innuendo like a pack of 10 year olds who’ve just discovered what their boy-parts do) seconds after taking our garri with absolutely overwhelming numbers. the timing was far too convenient to be coincidence. i know most of you aren’t like that, and i actually respect and like some of you... so that kind of crap reflects very poorly on your server as a whole.

From what I recall, I would have to say your thoughts on ET being mostly "militia" would stem from all the guild exodus’ we’ve seen.
Decent guilds would come, wreck face, get called out for heading up HUGE zergs, then move on to another server in either frustration or because the call for server stacking had come across and they felt like joining.

i can only speak for so far back as January/February, but (just from what i’ve observed) no one actually gave any guilds grief for heading up huge zergs. without naming any names... specific complaints that i remember hearing included "getting a huge zerg ball, and then not actually DOING anything with it... just standing in the open field waiting for the enemy to come to them, continually stacking buffs" and "being allowed to die, or even run off a cliff to purposefully kill them when trying to "pile-on" with a guild’s "zerg" because they weren’t in the guild’s TS/were too glassy/didn’t follow precisely/etc." and i know one commander left because people were giving him grief because what he did well was cap (and kitten and pillage) undefended camps/towers/keeps. he put us in 2nd place for several weeks, but he was a bit sloppy when he hit actual opposition, and his forces tended to fall apart when facing equal or greater numbers.

my goodness. FC had a strong showing this morning... kept me hopping running back and forth in ET BL defending the southern towers. (very clever, by the way, when you caught us catting around back of the sw tower and you circled around to catch us from behind AND contested bay on your way over so we couldn’t rally quickly. very nice. kudos.)

but now... ET be aggressive! woooooo! sorry i’m at work missing it!

in ET, watch out for BS small group. TAC and BCN are pretty good medium groups, and hey, i’ma plug my own guild PK is slowly but surely building a WvW presence. (also medium size)

so yeah. this was my first char in GW2, but she felt pretty weak around 15th level or so, so i ended up shelving her for a long time. hit 80 on a ranger and a guard, then got inspired by the famous infamous SevenMirror and went back and revisited her. finally made 80.

i think i managed to find a kit that shows off her pretty white and grey fur quite nicely. XD

Obviously I can’t speak for my entire server, but every time I’ve been on, our Commanders(or at least the ones I see) are actively directing us away from ET and in our voip channel, they’re telling us to leave ET alone and focus on DR.

Tonight, while I was on WvW in EBG, we spent quite a bit of time fighting off a small SF zerg turning over stuff in our third of EBG instead of attacking DR and I see plenty of red popping up on our borderlands throughout the day.

As a former ET, and the person that started the whole Big brother, middle brother, little brother craze…I feel that I should point out a couple of things here…

1. SF is meh right now…As always they (the mindless masses not the organized hardcore wvw’ers) flow the path of least resistance.
2. The idea is, and has been proven by ET this week, that either DR or SF is gonna control your 1/3 of EB at varying times of the day. Because of a dwindle in WvW interest, DR has fielded superior numbers this week in comparison to SF. SO, they have been fairly capable of defending their 1/3 if we pushed it, and still capping ET’s 1/3 nearly simultaneously.
3. 90% of people on SF understand the situation on ET, but in a 3-way match we can’t attack our self, so it is kind of expected that ET is gonna get hit somewhat.
4. Someone above on SF mentioned that we have been saying on voip to leave ET be, and that is correct. Hell a few times over the weekend we even went and flipped ET’s T3 towers on EB that had been controlled by DR, then promptly left them so that they could be taken back by ET.
5. The downside of the 3-way match is pretty much always one of these issues: Servers 1&2 are doubleteaming 3 because 3 can’t maintain its holdings, servers 2 & 3 are working against server 1 because server 1 is severely overpowered, or some variation of the two.

ET is hit or miss right now…ranging from that pic i linked around a month ago that alot of you have seen by now of a great big whopping 17 people from across all 4 maps standing in LA after WvW went down for a patch…at primetime on a friday…. to a pic taken from HoD’s point of view from a couple weeks later on a saturday of my guild leader commanding a zerg that must have been 50 strong at least. unfortunately, the former is much more common than the latter.

the first few days of this matchup i would wake up in the morning and most/all of our keeps would be gone overnight and ALL of EB was blue. the last few days i’ve woken up and we owned our corner of EB and more or less our whole BL (there’s always camp flippers). nice surprise in the morning.

now that i’m actually thinking about it, i have noticed that, altho SF is attacking and capping our stuff.. it’s all minor stuff…camp here, a tower there.. there hasn’t really been a concerted concentrated push to our keeps from SF all week that i can remember (can’t speak for crap that happens when i’m offline) i saw our keep in EB red once, but they took it directly from DR, not us. and you took Stonemist from us, but hey, that’s Stonemist. XD

in light of your post… pride wants to say “we don’t need no stinkin help!” but reality says “….thanks.”

keep on fighting the good fight, big bro, and we’ll try to do the same. and kitten you guys can still field some impressive numbers, even with your “decline”. XD

lol. teamed up with? hardly. at least till the final hours before reset. IoJ and DR were having their own little lover’s quarrel and mostly left ET to it’s own devices for almost the whole matchup. there was no "team" till the last day when there was a... tenuous at best (there was still plenty of killing each other going on)... truce between DR and ET to take all of IoJ’s stuff, putting DR in first.

i’m not even sure why we agreed. it put DR in first, but we still stayed in 3rd. meh.

my internet is currently very poor, so this has happened to me twice just within the last 3-4 game updates. i looked all over for a solution, but got very little that was helpful to me. most of it was aimed at people having trouble downloading the game during beta. the first time restoring to a previous version worked, but it was a long time re-downloading all the files, and it didn’t work the second time. i floundered around for quite a while and finally stumbled across the answer.

yesterday my internet went down with 2 files left to download in the smaller afternoon update after the main patch from the morning. when the internet came back, the game did not attempt to download those files and tried to load straight into the game. the game window would come up as a blank white screen, then a long pause, and then before the character select appeared i would get a box pop up saying “A serious error has occurred preventing Gw2 from running. please send a report yadda yadda.” none of the fixes i found while searching for my error worked – run as administrator? nope. turn off antivirus and see if it loads? nope. move the .exe out of the folder? oh god no, that tried to make me redownload ALL the files. that would take me a week with my connection! i only need 2 files!

what did work for me, i lucked out in finding. it’s the -repair function from the command line arguments list on the wiki to use it, simply right click on your gw2 shortcut (or, if you have a bad internet connection like i do, make a new shortcut so you can keep it for later, you may have to do this again!) and select properties. in the target line… keep it as it is, just add " -repair" (without quotes) to the end of the line so it reads something like “C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair. run it. grab yourself a soda/coffee/beer/whatever. it takes about 10 minutes or so to examine all the files, then it downloads the ones that’re missing/corrupt (my 2 missing files! yay!) and you should be able to log in. if this is a “it only happened once!” kinda deal for you… go back into your shortcut and erase the -repair at the end to revert it to what it was. if you have bad internet like i do.. have that second shortcut (name it different.. gw2 repair or something) so you can use it any time you have a problem, but use the regular shortcut just for standard playtime.

did you have any internet slowdowns/disconnects while downloading the patch? this happened to me, and doing a -repair on it fixed it for me.

No, not really. The people who engage in war without restraint or humanity tend to get remembered as monsters and war criminals, the Geneva Conventions exist for a reason, and things can get very nasty for everyone when people don’t restrain themselves at all, even in real war. Yes, this is a game and far less is at stake, but the psychology of what is decent and fair is similar.

I don’t personally have a problem with players attacking other players in the WvW jumping puzzle and I can even accept denial without a kill for loot as a legitimate goal but making a cooperative deal and then turning on a person who helped you is a jerk move no matter how you cut it.

And for the players who are defending this who enjoy dueling challenges, would you be fine with a commander showing up to Fight Night with a zerg to make it impossible to have it and for no other reason or would that be a jerk move? How about players who follow the duel protocol and then have their friends jump in to help if they start losing?

what that guy did is kitten, without question. he relied on the kindness and trusting nature of someone, and then turned around and bit them in the kitten, and then proceeded to make life suck for anyone else wanting to get the jp puzzle done… and didn’t even kill them (death should be expected anywhere in wvw, even the puzzle. it’s just a nice turn of events when you run across someone and they don’t try to kill you outright). no matter how you slice that, that’s a no-skill class “A” jerk right there, and not deserving of respect in the slightest.

on the one hand, what that mesmer did was pretty crappy.

on the other hand, all is fair in war.

i prefer my opponents to have a modicum of honor on the field, but i don’t expect it. it’s just a pleasant surprise when it happens.

but back to the topic and hand... fun match up so far.

second pic... yesterday morning and early afternoon watching my server-mates trying to retake our keep in EB. i’m not quite sure what was going wrong, but it was some quality entertainment. unfortunately for me and my friends sitting with me, DR didn’t like popcorn, and hit us with an AoE of some sort. darn. (we finally took the keep like 2 hours later)
