F this. WvW sucks. this month and a half long saga of suck has drained the fun out. now everyone’s sniping at each other, both here across server lines, and in map chat within our our server.
the crappy system is destroying us more surely than any opponent ever could. i’m out. i’ma take the time to get some gear on my ranger. maybe level up my new thief. but i’m probably just gonna stay out of WvW for a while now. it’s just not fun.

Still in the process of collecting, very few have been added from outside sources (people other than me) :
Very nice collage, although I immediately noticed a distinctly non-Charr anatomical feature tucked away in there.
Spoilered for those who haven’t taken a look at the full image yet. Because I-don’t-know-why-not
I had to look at it again to know what you meant.
Actually, I see 6. 3 are asura, a sylvari, a guy in pink and of course the boobs.
dang i’m slackin. i only noticed 1 asura O.o
that being said, my first character was a white/pale grey female char. i dunno. i just like the way she looks.

in PvP or WvW when you down an opponent but haven’t killed them yet, if you get close to them you have the option to “Finish them”. hit F and you go thru an animation that ends with them dying with a flag speared into them. this is “stomping” someone.
quickening zephyr speeds up ALL actions, so i would assume that a stomp performed while under the effect of QZ would be twice as fast (stomp is slow)

only a WvW player measures their success in how many loot bags are around their corpse. XD

The system need be self sufficient and adaptable. The main issue with Glicko is that it’s goal is lock people into Tiers, which by it’s design is trying to stagnate the matches, which is a bad thing for everyone involved and the game as a whole.
it’s not a bad thing for everyone. it’s ONLY a bad thing if the ‘locked in’ matches are imbalanced. anet and wvw players would much rather have balanced matches, but against the same servers, rather than one sided stomps against different servers every week.
the problem is, not only is the system locking in unbalanced matches currently, it doesn’t allow for change in the future… if a server gets more people, either via new sign ups OR paid server transfers, it’s still saddled with the old rating, with a long painful discouraging fight to move out of that rank… this is not how it should be. the math works great… IF the servers were static and the tiers balanced… but neither of these are true.
so if we had so many server transfers… why the staunch disagreement with resetting the numbers? if we’re going to be stuck with glicko for the time being, why NOT reset us all back to 0? we sure aren’t where we started, and Glicko is meant to deal with individuals, not groups. individuals don’t change that much. we’ve skewed the numbers all out of whack by now.
SO WHAT we’ll have a few weeks of odd matches and blowouts while the rating math figures out where we’re better suited… that would honestly be a huge improvement over what we have now.
it would be a decent short-term fix to give Anet time to work on a different formula better suited to calculating matchups… because i glicko ain’t it.
resetting ratings would cause ATLEAST a month of one sided matches since low tier servers like SF would jump to T1. then what, after that month, after servers return to their respective tiers, you would have a very similar looking picture. the servers would settle back to what they are now. a reset does nothing, other than to provide over a month of boring wvw.
and that’s different than now… how? tier 8 has been getting ROFLstomped for a few weeks now, with NO END IN SIGHT. and the longer they linger here, the harder it will be to get out of a tier they don’t belong in… because the math is TRYING to lock them into place.
i dunno about anyone else, but i’m getting pretty dang bored of it.

Lol…love it when you guys need like 35 people just to take me down…when I don’t even have any armor equipped
how many they used does not necessarily = how many it takes. reminds me of what a comedian once said about some guys who were going to beat him up because they didn’t like his hat or some such: “I didn’t know how many of them it would take to kick my butt, but I knew how many they were gonna use!”
XD

This is an interesting analysis of what I’ve posted because I’m not posting speculation, whereas you are.
Ungood posted numbers anyone can find quite easily on the millenium matchup site.
where does your ‘evidence’ come from? can you point to it and say “here it is… this server has this many people, that server has that many, and they used to have so many more/less.” where is your proof? if it’s nowhere but stored in your head, its not proof.

Tonight… on “Wild Tyria”, i go in search of the eluive JP rat in it’s natural habitat…
I’ve never paid much attention to JPs before, so I set off with merely a vague idea of where I was running, and the knowledge that it was a long perilous journey. All hands would be against me, and if i was caught, it would mean certain death. (see first image)
After a harrowing trip deep into hostile territory, I found… nothing. (see second image) Well this was not what I expected. Back and forth a bit. Oh wait, that’s the legendary guards, better not go over there… and look around a bit more, and finally give in to my last resort… /wiki jumping puzzles.
wikiThe Obsidian Sanctum is the long jumping puzzle located in the Eternal Battlegrounds. It is accessed through a Mystic Portal, which can be found in any of the three keeps on the map.
Looks at the map. Looks at the wiki. Looks at the map. Looks at the wiki. I has a sad now. I can’t /wave like I wanted to.

i don’t care that there is/is not any such agreement. i havn’t even SEEN a fergie in over a week.
every time i log into WvW it’s just SF everywhere.
why bother harassing fergie. they’re in the same **** situation we are. if they stomp on my toes, i’ll stomp back
filthyrat, you can go crawl back in your hole. you think you’re clever, but you’re really just meh. yawn
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
how many times do we have to say it before you manage to wrap your head around it. THERE IS NO ALLIANCE there is a loose agreement that we won’t actively seek to beat on each other.

currently, all i really do is fart around in EB or SF borderlands flipping camps and road points just to be an annoyance. but even that’s not so much fun when i run into the retaliation force… and there’s 10 of them and 1 of me.
it’s a great big “whats the point” now.
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
i’m in a guild that is active in WvW. we have several commanders in our ranks, and i’ve run under several other good ones. MOST of the time i’ve observed reasonably well organized fighting, and LOTS of /map chatter on where to go and what to hit. /map is almost never silent unless it’s really off hours. (yeah. it was pretty quiet at 11pm on a monday night. >.> ) in fact last night was the FIRST time in the past month that i personally witnessed a cluster **** of confusion and (in my opinion) poor leadership, leading to in-fighting and losing fight at hand.
not to say that we all know what the heck we’re doing, but as a whole we frequently hold off forces at a 1 to 3 or more ratio.
last few weeks that i’ve actually been paying attention to it, it’s always the same. friday reset… ET jumps in headfirst. paints the map red. leads the points all night… until we finally succumb and go to bed. then the infamous nightcap crew goes to work.
if we kept our level of organization and skill, and tripled our numbers… it would be a very different story indeed
and yet, despite all our skill and perseverance, we get told “you’re on the bottom of tier 8. you obviously suck and deserve to be there.”
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
it’s not that you insulted me. but come on. it’s already been over a month that SF has been sitting on us, and no end in sight. “no quick fix” is all well and good, but every person reaches the end of their patience at some point, and right now, there IS no light at the end of the tunnel. at all.
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
i think FilthyRat picked a good name for himself.
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
If SF moves up a tier, you’re just gonna get rolled by the server that falls from tier 7 so SF has room to move up. The only difference will be the name of the server.
maybe. maybe not. SF was hovering around tier 6 before they took a 1 month dive into the pit of despair AKA tier 8. by the time they finally claw their way back out, IF they ever claw their way out with how the stupid math has them locked in place, they’ll probably shoot BACK up to tier 6. i’d welcome a true tier 7 over that.
also. wow. saying we’ll get rolled anyway, doesn’t matter by who. are you TRYING to make me quit or transfer? talk about demotivating.
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
oh trust me. i’m not going anywhere. as i said. my friends are here. my guild is here. my husband is here.
i just may bow out of WvW even though i quite enjoy the concept, because being rolled every week by the same server over and over and over and over and over and (you get the point) because they have more people than us, and the math is too stupid to actually move them up…and no end in sight because the math expects them to be able to roll us? yeah. not fun. that is the very definition of hopelessness.
it doesn’t matter how good or bad we do this week. we’re still stuck with SF next week. and the week after. and the week after. and… and… and…
seriously guys. how are you not seeing this.
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
The thing I find that is truly ironic about this is that we have had numerous threads about what ANet should do to fix the problem, but in the end the first solution (leveling out server pops/coverage) has been in the hands of the player base, all along.
i just started playing recently (around a month or so). and i didn’t start WvW immediately. i played and had fun and got used to how to play. i didn’t even know HOW to go to WvW…didn’t realize it was as easy as “hit B”. i hadn’t found the forums or the wiki yet… and i remembered that when i first chose my server, i got a warning that “this choice is final, you’ll have to pay if you wish to move.” and i was unaware of free server transfers.
by the time i realized what soul-crushing will-sapping WvW-fun-devouring hole i was in by being on a Tier 8 server, i had already made friends, joined a guild, and free transfers were over. so, pray tell, what should i do to ‘level the field’ at this point? and if your answer is “transfer”… pony up so i can make the transfer. i’m broke…. and break the news to my guild for me that i’m leaving… i hate goodbyes. be sure you send enough for 2 transfers. my husband has to come too

When I first started doing WvW I thought this was normal, expected behavior. I had ET and FC do this kind of thing regularly. Laughing, dancing on the corpse, etc. so of course, I started to do this same thing right back. Once I fell in with people more experienced they showed me the benefits of refraining from the pointless boasting and peen waving.
Still, I see this happen all the time and it is not exclusive to SF players, not by a long shot.
You want SF peeps not to do this sort of thing? Stop doing it your self.
it becomes a vicious cycle. i’m new. i go out and play around in WvW. i would have never thought to laugh or dance on someone’s corpse unless they did something stupid, like fall to their death right in front of me. if i did that, i would expect to get laughed at too. however…someone on another team curbstomps me, and then laughs, or points, or jumps on my body, or something else dumb like that. now i want to “return the favor”… regardless if the next guy i kill is actually the one who was rude to me in the first place.
you want that little cycle to end? don’t do it yourself. don’t perpetuate the cycle. i’ve never danced on someone’s corpse, even when i killed someone who really deserved it.
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
Mockery? I’d go more along the lines of encouragement to fight back.
actually, it makes me say “whatever, i don’t want to play vs a bunch okittenholes” and i go do explorer, dungeons, or my personal story instead.
but then again, it was a pair of your guildies camping me at the gate in EB and pointing and laughing when they killed me when i was trying to test out a new build a few days ago… so whatever. not surprised.
i’ll be glad when you guys FINALLY bump up a tier and you get put thru the wringer. couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of folks, really.

Look forward to more good fights, and truly hope in the end this doesn’t negatively effect our servers too drastically. It’s unfortunate that players on ET and FC might be discouraged from WvW because of this. Apologies -.-
it is definitely discouraging to log in after work and look at the map and see a sea of green everywhere, and 10-15 SF just hanging around waiting for me just outside the Legendary Guard’s range at the gate in EB.

>snip<
To say SF…players dancing on corpses is lies. >snip<
oh really. so all the times i’ve been danced on, pointed at, jumped on, and laughed at by SF people the past two weeks have been flukes and figments of my imagination. nice to know.
I have had many ET and FERGS dance on my corpse so dont try and make yourself to be some sort of Elite player denying u dont do it becuase you know you do..
don’t presume to tell me what i do and do not do. i do not /dance on bodies. period. no matter how much one particular person may deserve it based on their past actions. i may /dance at my gate, just out of range of bored gate campers. i may /laugh if i manage to fear someone off a cliff, regardless if i manage to kill them or not… if you kitten me off, and i kill you, you get /point and /wave. if it was a good fight, and i win, you get /bow. but to /dance on the body of your enemy is just poor taste… for ANY army… even my own. and you won’t catch ME doing it. end of statement

~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
well, yesterday i had a pair of looked like twin asura from SF camping the gate in EB… killed me at least 10-15 times before i gave up in frustration (i was TRYING to test a new build).
they /pointed and /laughed numerous times.
i managed to kill one of the little ****ers later (at least i think it was one of them… was same outfit, same guild tag.), after the reset… man it was hard to not /dance in return.
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
so i was farting around this morning… went to try and recap a lost flag, to find this elementalist… killed me fair and square. ok. fine. killed 2 others also. great. they’re good at nuking.
but then then went and jumped up and down on the bodies. she went to each in turn and jumped several times. i guess so there would be no /dance or /point and /laugh to show in a screenshot. but may as well just put in a /teabag.

~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
bah.. really? i was looking forward to changing things up a bit
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
the prediction models keep changing. a day and a half ago it was saying ET/Fergi/Maguuma. now Fergi is up a tier again
one way or another, that’s gonna be a painful week for all 3 of us i think. lol
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
when i first started playing (charr) i saw, at most, 1-3 people running around in the zone with me, and usually only those at “event” areas… hearts, skill challenges, scripted regular events area, etc…my husband, however, was constantly running into, and even grouping with, other people over in the norn newbie area. i rolled a human, and saw loads of people comparatively speaking.
i still sometimes go a while without seeing another soul, but there’s plenty of places i still see gobs of folks…
might be a culling issue.
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
Sol, i gotta say… based on who you’re facing in your past few videos, i’m guessing you are on possibly on Maguuma. if the prediction models are correct, we are supposedly facing you guys come Friday.

But both ET and ferg are getting curb stomped right now not saying stop fighting each outer just stay out of each outers borderlands
i havn’t been in fergie’s borders all week. SF’s on the other hand… >cackle<
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
heh. one person does not speak for the entire server. i would not be opposed to such an… agreement. but i do agree they are fraught with peril for the weaker ally.
but funny. last week i heard ferg was co-operating with SF just so they wouldn’t be dead last. more than one person in /map chat was complaining shortly before the reset that SF and Ferg were siegeing things side by side and ignoring each other. understandable, tho…everyone hates to be last.
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
katz, I know the feeling… on jp I will never do the same mistake of letting people walk, why? because you are giving them free siege and they will betray you, they can and they will, sooner or later.
who said anything about letting ’em walk. i planned on laying into them the second i was done with my bow… i just never got the chance.
ah well. c’est la vie
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
so anyways… i was running around deep in enemy territory this morning (SF borderlands) making mischief… capping flags, killing dollys… and i had stopped briefly to consult my map. i hear the “hey, someone is waving at you” sound, and i take a look around, to see a sole defender, waving at me. oh, wow. they didn’t just attack me outright… maybe a duel? she bows. i bow… then her invisible friend kills me from behind.
right. lesson for the day. shoot first, bow my respect after. XD
whoever that was… you sneaky buggar! :-P
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
Whenever a matchup starts to get frustrating, something like this happens and makes it all better for a while:
hehe, yeah. SF was parked just outside the ‘safe’ range at the ET side n EB last night… and one person was standing off to the side, right on a little rock outcropping… i farted around for a while shooting at the main pack and them answering me 20-fold… then all of a sudden i sent my wolf after that one lone person. fear-howled em right off the edge. i giggled for a good 5 minutes. i don’t think i killed em, but i sure did annoy them. i noticed the next i time i saw them, they were way back from that ledge. XD

it was the biggest repair bill i’ve had to date. usually i don’t see over a silver and a half. and considering i can’t afford my 2 gold master’s trait manual yet, it was a bit of a sting to pay for.
but i realize i’m new and i’ll be rolling in the gold eventually.
~o hai there :D~ LONG LIVE ET
well, this morning i had a kind soul /tell me and offer to show me CM (was that you, Ayanavi? if so, thank you).
while i did learn some interesting tricks and tips, it was still a 3 hour ordeal and a 7 silver repair bill (even with stripping nakked for the part at the beginning). it wasn’t exactly what i consider “easy” or “fun”.
still… i’m now at 1/5… and walked away with more coin than i lost to repairs. i’ll give it another go. if round 2 is similarly… unpleasant… i think i’ll stick with AC for my monthlies till i can do CoF… then i’ll see how “easy” that one is.
again, many thanks to the wonderful person who assisted me this morning. i really appreciate it
