SF had about *DOUBLE* ET and FC’s combined scores for like 2 weeks straight. this comes on the tail of 2 months of ROFLstomping... if that isn’t an indication something is wrong, i don’t know what is... however, there has been a post recently indicating that Anet is looking into fixing and adjusting the issue... somehow. woot.

and as for your #2. transfers will NOT fix the problem... they created the problem in the first place

yeah probably. can’t say i’m happy with the utter chaos going on... but i will say the fights (when my ISP has allowed me to enjoy them) have been utterly epic the past couple days. more fun than i’ve had in quite a while

and ya know what... even facing that same lopsided match week in and week out for months now... we still take the field to fight, we still have fun, and we have pride in ourselves, our guildmates, and our server. THIS is why someone should come to tier 8 (but of course preferably ET lol ). that underdog spirit that just won’t give up.

I’m not a leader, but i’ll show up if you’ll have me. I agree on the sloppy statement. That’s something i’ve noticed recently myself. When people decide on a time/day i’ll put a notice on ET’s forums as well.

In T3 of the NA ladder, the new WvW meta post-patch is simple. Form one mega-zerg, abandon all other maps. Roll around speed capping everything, switch maps when needed.

Now how is this different than before? Very simple. Everyone wants to maximize their WXP. This is done by mega-zerging. Dragonbrand is doing this, YB is doing this, SoS is doing this.

But here is why it breaks WvW, there is no incentive to fight another zerg. There is no incentive to defend or upgrade anything. There is no incentive to split off the mega-zerg. In fact, there is a negative stigma now to upgrading buildings. You want to cap things as quick as possible, you want the enemy to cap your things as fast as possible, so that you can cap them back quicker(and get more WXP). Each server’s mega-zerg rolls across a borderland map, and they generally swap around the same time so no server has their mega-zerg on the same map at the same time.

I am very curious, are your servers doing the same thing? I suspect all servers are doing it right now.

Is this just a patch-day phenomenon? Or is this the new meta-game for WvW? If this style of play becomes the norm then WvW just became a permanent WXP train, without skill or tactics, or any decision making at all.

after my conversation with the KING necro yesterday, i take it as a compliment that KING was hassling us so frequently

ET and FC lumping together into one big server may be a good idea... problem is... how do we settle who goes where. i’m NOT leaving my guild. no if’s, and’s or but’s. if my guild transfers, i will. if it stays, i will. period. i’m sure others are of a similar feeling

we fight as a community... no mega guilds running the show, no one looked down on, ignored, or used as cannon fodder for being in a small guild... or even guildless. we are small, so we fight together. (there is always drama. this is human nature... but it is minimal)

we are dedicated... ET has been the underdogs on the bottom for so long only the most dedicated hardcore persevering WvWers are left, forged by the fires of adversity, and now slowly building our way back up.

and even when we don’t win, we still have fun

well, i dunno about anyone else, but i had a load of fun tonight.

first, i logged on just in time to help defend ET garrison from a rather sizable SF force. eventually pushed them out

they turned their frustrations to our towers. hey look. orange swords at both at once. dunno how much of those forces were SF and how many were ET, but i know that at least at WH there were more SF outside the gate attacking than there were ET inside defending.

finally drove them away from both towers and of course hand to go for supply, whereupon we had an absolutely GLORIOUS open field battle around behind Godslore! omg that was fun!!! we pushed them back, they pushed us back... it went on for what seemed like quite a long time before SF finally pushed us back and out and wiped us. the last shot shows just a PORTION of the forces that faced us in that gully behind Gods as they exit the camp after the final wipe. i wish i had a shot of the actual action.

we may not have won all the fights, and our BL may have turned green not so long afterward, but for a few hours... it was the best of WvW right there.

more coolness this morning... took a garrison... (i forget which. i need to drink my caffeine and pay closer attention in the mornings i guess >.> ) had some good stiff resistance from a few KING players.

after the garri was taken, one caster lingered dead in the courtyard between the inner gate and the narrow hallway leading to the lords room. /map reported small groups of SF people occasionally pinging the outer gates, so of course the assumption was the dead caster was a mesmer and there was a thief somewhere inside, just waiting for a chance to raise, so several people (myself included) hung around to keep watch, just in case. several of the other "guards" were, i regret to admit, less than charitable.. jumping, dancing, laughing, and even parking a golem right on their face at one point. most everyone else wandered off shortly after, leaving me alone sitting next to the dead caster... i moved the golem away. i think i bowed at one point even.

at this point, the dead caster invited themselves to my group, and i figured, "what the heck", and accepted. she greeted me with "hi pinky". we actually had a nice little chat. she turned out to actually be a necro (well played, by the way, KING necro... keeping at least a small portion of our forces tied up watching you...concerned you were a mesmer... well played) she asked about my guardian, and offered a suggestion, which i halfway tested (because i bought the wrong weapon >.> dur dur durrrrr. moar caffeine please!)

she finally recalled to her WP as the inactivity timer started counting down on her, and i left group. as nice as the chat was, i don’t want her to see where i am going then i ran off to EB where i stood in a hole in the wall of Langor tower for a good 20-30 minutes with TAC fending off a pack of SF (mostly upleveled) that should probably run with CoSA or KING or some other equally skilled group to hone their skills, as they were unable to take Langor vs 4-7 of us even tho they had a bit of a larger group, 2 trebs, and a cat. loads of fun. loads of fun

i did have one cool thing happen last night in all the crazy. had people running supply from stargrove while we were trying to take either dawns or garri, i forget which, and got waylaid by a white-furred charr mesmer, and a thief (possibly also a warrior, but he may not have showed up till later). after a good hard fight we won, and i bowed to them try to say "good fight, guys."

i didn’t think they’d give up easily, and /map said the SF zerg was on the move, so i built an arrow cart hidden in a corner in the camp and waited. i could imagine the "what the f..." expressions on people’s faces as they came up the hill and rounded the corner into stargrove camp only to get pelted by a rain of arrows. i didn’t think it would last long, but hey, was fun while it lasted.. cuz few seconds later the same charr mesmer, a warrior, and another buddy or two hit me hard from the side.

then the charr saluted me... i assume returning my gesture earlier.

to you, nameless charr mesmer i faced in stargrove last night... >salute<

hmph. seems like all i ever face in SF is thieves too. see how that goes both ways?

i deleted my lowbie thief a few days ago, by the way. never really liked the play-style. slowly but surely getting better at my tactics on my guard and ranger, tho... (when lag isn’t screwing me over that is)

orange swords pop when 25 people are fighting. doesn’t matter what side they are on. if 10 meets 15, orange swords. if 20 meets 5, orange swords.

Please refer to my earlier post when i said 1 vs 20 is not an l2p problem along with ganking. Instead of getting proof you should start by reading what others say. Just because there’s a zerg in front of you don’t mean your server is outmanned on the map.. it means you are out manned individually. I’ve run in to many zergs and felt out manned but it only meant the rest of us split up and were doing other things.

Please, I implore you to exercise some common sense.

As for your people being unable to do 15 vs 30 in a keep (not out on open field) then you’re just idiots because we were doing exactly that last night.

alright… so… extremely typical weekday example: we have 1 commander on our map, with 10-20 people, a few roamers, and a scout at each keep. when the SF zerg starts rollin’ there are groups of 20-30 (or even more at times) hitting more than one location AT THE SAME TIME. with enough people left over to scout and roam also. last time i checked, that added up to more than we had.

but ya know what, keep patting yourselves on the back and telling yourselves that you’re awesome. it makes me LOL

Just out of a near hour and a half long tower battle with Sorrows Furnace. My server just got attacked three to one odds, for near an hour and a half the outcome of the battle was anyone’s guess until SF reinforcements arrived set up three catapults to attack our wall. We held out manned and with little siege for over an hour. Comment your strange long lasting tower battles.

that was a pretty epic fight. i counted 4 cats when we went back to retake the tower later. musta dropped another at some point… i also wish i was’t the only person who jumped into the breach in the wall to try to stop the SF tide…turned out to be a rather short-lived endeavor. XD

i’da hung around for more, but i had to run out and take care of chores. dang RL, don’t they know i’m busy siege-ing?!?
