and as for the dance/laugh/etc stuff... i’ve sat down next to dead bodies left in keeps and towers and whatnot. i’m saying "i see you, i know you’re waiting here to spy, or waiting for your hidden buddy to come res you. i’m watching." i’ve seen people from all 3 current tier 8 servers do the dance/laugh/point routine... heck, i had a SF T-bag me with a golem this morning (spamming 5 and moving before the "leave golem" command finished, so the golem kept bobbing up and down)

and as for the . 4 5 thing... the only things i can think of are the references to a caliber of firearm, OR a particular malt beverage associated with being favored by a certain demographic. other than that, i got no clue

thanks for the updates. i wish i knew where my morning friends went. i’ve finally gotten my internet working and gotten everything packed away and i’m settled, so for the first time in many days i logged on this morning... to no commander on the map. i figured "what the heck" and started wandering around Fergy’s BL to cause trouble anyway, and i’m glad i did. i think i had my most enjoyable day of WvW yet. not because i did anything huge, but just the over-all experience... it’s the little things, ya know?

i started off taking the back road to the nearest camp, cuz hey... i can take a camp solo, right? halfway thru a ranger in CoF gear joined in and together we made short work of the rest of the camp. we grouped up and proceeded around the outskirts, taking camps and exploring. seems he needed his points and vistas and whatnot, and i’d neglected them on my guard, so i needed em too. we go up into the centaur camp after the skill point, and first cool thing of the day happens: we crest the hill, and 2 Fergs are just ahead of us, near the skill point. they don’t rush us, we don’t rush them... then they both bowed. i bowed back, and i was thinking "they want an honorable fair duel? or what?" but instead they both ran off, around the other way, toward the POI and let us get to the skill point without a fight. i figured they were just people trying to get their map completion in a 95% red map, and it kinda made me grin that altho we could have jumped on each other in a rabid frenzy of "its red-named, it’s DEAD"... we didn’t, and we parted peacefully.

so then, in casual conversation with the ranger, i mentioned SF, and he said "what’s SF?" turns out the guy was brand new to WvW. i explained the basics as we continued on around, bothering camps and slapping yaks. then my husband joined the group, and then we stumbled across another small pack of people out doing the same thing we were doing, and invited 2 of them, giving us a full group, with a few more floaters.

now things are starting to warm up, and i figured we could have some real fun... i loaded up on ram prints and we headed back to the first camp (which had been retaken by this point). now... keep in mind i’ve just spent at least half of my guardian’s levels running alongside the likes of Battlecamp, Glikin, and Cedrik in WvW... and i have a cute name and a distinctive look... i swapped to /say and started calling the shots... no commander dorito-chip over my head be darned. my husband called where we headed next, and i was the ’cheering squad’... "build build!" "grab supply!" "get on that ram!" it was exhilarating! somewhere in all that, the new ranger said "wow, this is fun!" by this time we had somewhere between 8 and 10 people (i never stopped to count) and we moved up the side of the map flipping camps and capping towers... and then we hit the keep (i always forget the names, but its keep on the right side, on the hill). with as few people as we had, we had to take turns running for supply, but we dropped 2 rams and each door and got em built fast, and got thru the paper doors pretty quick. i think losing a keep. woke Fergy up, tho, because they met us at Cliffside with bells on and wiped us out. unfortunately my husband and i had to call it a day at that point because we needed to grab a bite to eat before work, but i STILL have a big goofy grin 3 hours later about the whole experience.

that’s what it’s all about to me, my friends. i hope and pray i have more days like today... no matter what the scoreboard reads.

i know this because a week or two ago the ‘zerg’ i was rolling with was joking about it as we were hitting a tower. conversation went something like this: “wow, we have alot of people in the group this time… more than usual, think we’ll make orange swords?” “i dunno, let’s see.” we commence ramming the door. “Nope.” “awwwww.” my husband shows up and starts hitting the door too, and viola, orange swords! “Ahh! there we go! LOL” “LOL”

i joined ET with no knowledge of WvW. i didn’t start messing with it at all for at least a month. now i have a guild, friends, etc. i am not gonna pull up my roots and RUN AWAY from the problem like a coward. it’s BROKEN (by your own admission), and i expect it fixed.

it’s broken. let that sink in... cuz i think that even tho you’re agreeing its broken, i don’t think you truely understand what that means. there is a tier of WvW that is currently fundamentally screwed up so bad that it’s a black hole of despair. SF is currently owning by nearly DOUBLE OUR COMBINED SCORE... and will STILL not pull out of the tier any time soon... unless someone ELSE drops into the tier.

running away from the problem does nothing to FIX the problem. all it does is exacerbate it... make it worse... spread the problem to OTHER servers.

Culling is god-awful lately, ever since they issued that last “fix” it has gotten much worse…with that said I always add 5-10 people over what I see. So if you say not more than 35 I surely will take your word…Once I physically see more than 25 tags I assume at least 30-35 people are there.

The point being is that 25-30 people on one map (for the lowest 3 servers) is a fairly substantial number of participants.

if you see an ET zerg, and you count 20 people… culling is probably not lying to you. most of the time we don’t pop orange swords on the map, which means we absolutely positively cannot have more than 25 people in that fight.

thanks for the update. i havn’t been able to play in a couple days… in between selling my home so being in a mad rush to pack everything, and my ISP going screwy 2 nights ago… BLARGH.

i’ve been holding onto these screenshots for a while, but i figured i’d share them now...

these were taken during prime-time... sometime between 7pm and 11pm EST mid week.... not reset night

the first two are from the same vantage point, facing opposite directions. i forget how many we had in that fight, but it wasn’t enough to break that zerg, i remember that much

the third is just another random shot that shows how many SF i typically see show up to these kittenkicking parties... count the green dots, then count the red names... you can see how many we brought, and how many they brought.

i’ll admit. you guys did good friday/saturday. kudos.

but we still took it back. currently ET has better morning coverage than FC, just like SF has better afternoon/evening coverage than either of us.

Sounds more like a karma train mindset. If you fight outnumbered you better try holding what you have because it takes usually fewer to accomplish that. Walls and gates are your friend.

walls and gates buy time.

when your supply camps all get capped because there’s WAY more of them than there are of you, those gates and walls WILL fall... eventually. you WILL run out of supply, and the gates and walls WILL crumble to rams, cats, and trebs. yes, it’s true that fewer people can defend, especially if well fortified, but when the opposing force is overwhelmingly larger and can play an attrition game with you... no amount of fortification in the world will save you... and meanwhile, you’ve devoted time and manpower to defend a single point, which fell eventually anyway, and are losing the "war" of points as everyone else surpasses us

and for the record... we DO have a night presence. i’ve run with it. it’s just that... at night there’s still only 20 of us... but SF is all awake and online so there’s 60+ of you. yeah. that goes well >.>

like i said. either we spend all our limited manpower to try to defend 1-2 things, and eventually lose them anyway due to attrition, and fall into last place because 1-2 things in our name does not make big points... OR we run thru at breakneck speed and cap everything while SF/FC looks the other way and make big points for a few hours.

option #2 has kept us in 2nd place for a few weeks running now... if we had more folks we might actually be dangerous. XD

when i’m rolling with a karma train... the normal MO that i can figure out, based on chat i read is: SF has way more people that us, so no real point defending anything...if we left enough people to try to defend... we’d not have enough left to actually take points, especially when we do meet resistance. and it would be for naught when SF takes all the camps and cuts off the supply and then sieges that one/few place(s) attrition rules it will eventually crumble. it’s better then to just roll thru, take stuff as fast as possible by any legit means necessary, when things get too hot, flip to another map and start taking that instead.

guerrilla fighters don’t get the luxury of bunkering in, and that’s the war we’re fighting right now... most of the time our "massive zergs" don’t have enough people in them to generate orange swords, so in essence we run around sneak-attacking everything.

another thing is... if there isn’t a commander on the map, then there’s practically no other ET on the map. Ungood joked about it in his long satirical recruitment thread... but ET really does tend to swarm follow a commander tag without question... even over cliffs... unless the commander is known to be a poor one, and if there is no commander active...everyone leaves.

meh. karma train is fun. hanging around on a wall waiting for someone to attack, then getting rolled by 50 people when the attack finally does come is not fun.

but yeah. ET is definitely stronger on the offense than the defense.

i didn’t say they ignore you ALL the time… but i have seen several times SF/ET BLs and EB all mottled green and blue, and Ferg’s BL completely untouched by either and solid red. i think i even have a few screenshots to that effect

friendly morning score update, brought to you straight from a freshly captured SF keep...

SF took stonemist first last night, as has been usual for the past several weeks, and based on the WP i saw in it, they had all night to settle in and get comfy. ET started off stronger than the last 2-3 weeks and gave quite a strong showing right after reset. FC seems like it got caught in the middle and when i called it a night last night they had very little

the situation was similar this morning, altho fergy picked it up sometime overnight and had their entire borderlands at least (probably because SF and ET were too busy duking it out with each other to bother messing with FC)
