the last two weeks, since HoD stepped down to tier 8, reset night (heck, the whole weekend) has been the craziest i’ve ever seen

ET has a morale problem. everyone turns out for reset, but later in the week it seems people take a look at the score and just go "meh" and go back to whatever they were doing. i, for one, will keep showing up, tho. if experiencing getting blown out by SF to the tune of them having DOUBLE the COMBINED scores of us AND Ferg didn’t stop me from hitting the field... a few HoD won’t stop me either, nor will beefier Fergs (srsly, guys, what happened? you start eating your Wheaties? noticeably stronger out there.)

i got WvW map completion under the rule of Sorrow’s Furnace tier 8 presence... something that looked like an impossibility...

it will take some patience... but it can be done

not only did i understand it, i can pick up where he left off…

HoD did indeed cap bay… and proceeded to AC the kitten out of it and turtle in and taunt. ET defenders spent a bit of time bouncing between testing the defense at the keeps and retaking our camps… and then HoD just… vanished. took an undefended hills back, swung south and took the southern towers, then defended blue tower from a small group (fun defense. they broke the gate and we fought inside). kept swinging west to bay… it was also undefended. then we got some doorknockers at garri, had to fend off 10-15 at bay… garri got door knockers again, then 10-15 at bay again… then we retook cliffside and the last few camps. and then i went to bed 40 minutes later than i expected or wanted to, but the ET BL was all the correct color again.

nice score update there. the dude looks a little.. distracted... XD

to the [Mend] thief who was dueling this morning (around 8:30-8:40 Central) at south camp of ET BL: fun fights. thank you. i’m honestly surprised i managed to best you once... my guard is built more for zerg support and i’ve not had much practice or success with 1 on 1 fights so i appreciated the sparring. also, my mesmer server-mate apologizes for stepping too close to the camp near the end of their first duel. they lost track of where they were.

regarding ET upgrading stuff: after 3 long months of SF, alot kinda got into the mindset of "why bother, it will be taken anyway." and now it’s set into habit. a habit we will have to break. i’ve been doing my part upgrading and prepping siege (in fact i woke up early this morning to do as many of the upgrades on hills as i could, due to my error last night) and i’ve been encouraging others to do the same

Re: hills last night. i will stand up and own up and admit - i was commanding the defense in hills last night. i am new at commanding, tho not new at WvW. i realized what i did wrong after i logged off for the night... something i should have known better. i did not call for a sweep. it was a painful and costly lesson, and one i’ll not make again.

my recommendation: the moment he starts his crap... report him. the more reports the better. squeaky wheel gets the grease, and enough reports mount up against him, action will eventually get taken.

downside to that, i’ll have to take him off my ignore list so i can see if he’s being a troll so i can report him. >.>

apparently he’s decided to change from verbal taunting because 99% of the server has him on ignore now.... and has moved up to trolling of a much more concrete and detrimental fashion... recently he spent quite a bit of time trebbing Stonemist castle, even tho it was, at the time, heavily fortified and defended, and we had nowhere near enough people to make an attempt at rushing it even when/if the wall came down. the active commander asked /map several times to stop trebbing stonemist.. the continued treb fire had ferg up in our faces trying to defend (against an attack that wasn’t ever actually coming) and we ended up losing stuff because HoD started pushing too.

these are the actions of ONE PERSON... one who should, in my opinion, be banned for harassment now. he’s moved beyond petty verbal trolling and attempted bullying.

That is why I never participated in spawn camping when we were in T8. Just don’t like it really. However, I DID participate when we had the “who can get the furthest into their spawn” contests. Those are kind of fun, PB into the spawn and run like crazy!!!

what? camping your spawn? phhh. that’s nothing. i’m surprised you didn’t get used to that while SF was in town. i should post the screenshot i took a few days ago of a whole chatbox full of dancing fergs. most i’ve ever seen at once.

my goodness... i just looked at the projections on the mos.millenium site, and it looks like we’re gonna get HoD, and SF is moving up to tier 6! i’m almost giddy with excitement waiting for reset tonight!

to the hella-skilled Asura Yarr engineer... good fight today man, you really had us running round and round at red tower. and for round two... sorry my servermates ganked you after we bowed. i assume you wanted a duel? i was focused in the here and now and didn’t realize others were so close. course, then again, we weren’t at the fight-club spot, so all is fair i suppose. perhaps a rematch somewhere more private. i expect you’d probably own me, tho. i’m getting better, but i’m still not so great at 1 on 1 combat.

re: Agg. some of us knew. some of us didn’t. they (apparently) left due to internal server drama. we moved into 2nd place in our tier before they came. their loss is unfortunate, but not crippling, and we will carry on without them. i wish them well where they have gone.

as for WvW... i had fun today. first time in a while i really had a blast. to the male red-skinned (leafed?) Sylvari ferg mesmer who was a thorn in my side solo flipping camps all morning: good fights today. you’re skilled and persistent. thank you for the bow when you bested me after a good fight. >bows in return< i hope to face you again.

and to the ferg zerg in general: seemed you weren’t expecting there to actually be resistance mid day today. good fights at garri and hills. sorry, tho. no, you can’t have them., they’re ours. you stole all the soda from the fridge last time. no more for jooo. also... consider killing the cannons next time. not that i want to lose them next time or anything, but that had to hurt...both physically and pride.

i know who that is, and that one particular person is NOT represenative of the whole server, or even most of the server, and in fact most people in WvW have that .... person (the term i want to use, i can’t).... on their ignore lists. i highly suggest you do the same

as for the keeps. yeah. i agree. we were passing the darn things around like frign hot potatoes yesterday.

well.. i must say... i been away for a while. missed a bunch... after facing them all day today... seems Fergie’s been eating their Wheaties.... where did you guys all come from? XD

Now THAT was extremely amusing.

First of all, ANet is not working on it. They’ve indicated no plans at all to change WvW matchups and without doing so there will ALWAYS be problems like we have in Tier 8. If you understood how the ANet’s kittenization of the Glicko-2 system actually works you’d realize that the same exact thing could happen in Tier 1, except in reverse. The ONLY way to avoid what’s going on in Tier 8 is to switch to some kind of instanced system for matchups … server vs server vs server is doomed to infinite failure.

Secondly if they were working on it, they have so few resources being applied to recoding WvW that we’ll all be playing a different game before they actually fix anything.

i’ll just leave this here, then…

SF *has* the numbers, altho they might be light on coverage at certain time periods... i’m not sure.

as for skill... none of us on tier 8 were overly skilled with the exception of a few groups here and there. that subject has been talked to death, too. the introduction of the free transfers to medium servers, while not helping the Glicko Ghetto any, HAS taught all of us on tier 8 some new skills and techniques...

let SF go to tier 7. with their new skills recently learned (AFTER VK reported on the general lack of skill)... let’s SEE who actually gets ROFLstomped. and, while i can’t speak for the rest of my server... i can speak for myself, and i say "Bring on the worst tier 7 can offer... we’ll fight."

problem with that is.. with larger numbers, and relative low skill across all 3 servers, SF was never pushed to do more advanced tactics. as was just said in a VERY good post in the weekly matchup thread: "ain’t broke, don’t fix it". why bother with the advanced stuff when a straight-on charge and auto-attack-go-get-a-sandwich works 90% of the time. plus there is the possibility of "fair weather" players who are really only in WvW because it was a landslide victory every week. as frustrating as 2-3 months of domination has been for all of us... it *might* have been a rude surprise to SF if they had broken out into tier 7. i don’t know what the tactics in play are like in tier 7, so i can’t speak accurately to that issue. i can only say "might"

everyone on tier 8 has been forced to ’step up their game’ with the transfers. all 3 servers are being pushed and tested and stretched... learning new things, fighting smarter... this would be a perfect time for ANET to fix or adjust the tier 8 rank somehow... even if it’s not a full score reset like they were planning a while back that they backed out of. if SF can then maintain their lead... with the new knowledge they have... they truly deserve to break out at that point. i kinda hope i’m wrong about the "fair weather" players thing, tho, and they don’t lose a lot of people when they hit opposition.

i know some will probably take this the wrong way... it seems to be a very sore point for some reason, but: SF has some very skilled people (KING, CoSA, and a few others, i’m lookin at you...), but really their biggest strength, which they were allowing to carry themselves, was sheer force of numbers. sheer numbers won’t carry you forever. previously free transfers threw everything out of whack... but this time, they did some good... we are all learning and growing and getting better... and the fights lately have been much more fun... to the point that... while yeah, sure, i’d like to see a new opponent in SF’s place (3 months of the same opponents gets old after a while), the fights are more even, and i don’t mind it so much anymore.

It’s unfortunate that we can’t be amazingly awesome and coordinated as ET, their prowess is clearly unsurpassed, the score is obviously not reflective of the overall server goals and accomplishments, it’s only dictated by a failing Glicko system that keeps ET in a hole out of pure spite and vindictiveness.

This is true but you did just get at least 2 T1 guilds in ET as well as several others did you not?

on SF we don’t mind the transfers though it’s understandable why ET and FC have such a bad taste for it after kaining starting the whole problem by stomping and setting the ranking so low for you guys. Here on sorrow’s furnace we aren’t willing to let some tier 1/2 guilds stop our party train it’s just a speed bump.

you misunderstand me, i think. i hold no ill will toward SF. they’re stuck here as surely as we are, by the PREVIOUS free transfers trashing the system and artificially jacking the numbers far out of alignment. i’m glad we got some more people… it evens out the fights a bit and makes it actual fun instead of just a ROFLstomp… BUT… just throwing more free transfers at the problem does not fix it.

i really don’t care which thread we use... altho the official one should have a date on it to eliminate confusion... but how about a score update? you know.. for us unlucky buggars who have to work on a Sunday
