this is true. i don’t >remember< seeing actual recruiting in this thread, and as for the kittening... my apologies for my reaction earlier. i can totally understand someone being upset about blowing 15 gold because everyone else dropped the ball on them... regardless of who was capping from you. that shouldn’t happen to anyone. it’s just the way it was originally phrased made it appear you guys were moaning about nightcappers, not what you were actually complaining about. i can see that is not the case, and i am sorry

with how screwed up glicko is, we’re probably stuck with each other longer than that >sigh<

same issue with me. my first character was a mesmer, as i’d heard from others how fun they were... and i wasn’t seeing the fun. i rolled a ranger and leveled to 80 decently quickly. then i leveled a guardian... at 70 now... but the poor neglected mesmer is still sitting at 22. i just feel so... weak. and die so fast..

i guess once the guard hits 80 i’ll try to tough it out and see how things go when i get another 20 levels on me

I know the one who spent a ton of gold running around upgrading the entire SF BL by herself when none of the structures were even claimed by her guild (good job to all the lazy kitten idiots with guild funds who never did).

By 4AM or so she had to go, and I left shortly after. Felt really bad, because that left two others on the map, and I just knew ET would cancel out every upgrade she spent hours-worth of money on uncontested.

If SF had any kind of night crew we’d actually have a reason to upgrade anything. But no, the best we can ever manage is 6-7 in EB to defend SM overnight while we our entire ghost town of a BL turns blue.

Only time I get queues right now is in EB or our BL on reset night. Other than that, no queues. When I first started WvW about a month after release there were ALWAYS queues on SF, for every map. At least for me.

Coverage, coverage, coverage. Yes, SF does field more players than both FC/ET servers for a part of the day, and more players than either server for another part. Why we can’t field them in those early hours speaks to our work/school schedule (though as you have said, we seem to be fielding a bit more in those hours lately).

this is the only real point that i have been trying to make. as has been said numerous times by BOTH sides… it doesn’t take much skill to massively overwhelm someone else and/or take undefended points. the first few screenshots i posted a few days ago showing a blue map was fighting against minimal resistance and required little in the way of tactics. when someone from SF started being present in the morning (you seem as baffled by your morning crew as i am by mine, XD ) we had to change our tactics and fight smart. it’s a much more satisfying and fun game to play against more equal numbers. i log on at night, and the whole map is green, and everywhere you turn is 30-40+ SF running in giant packs on every map. or so it SEEMS. i may be running into the same 30+ SF. i don’t really have a way of knowing unless i start recognising people (like my jump puzzle rat buddy. rofl).

(Please Anet, make a small change to ranking and make it so any server, except T1 of course, that wins 3 or 4 straight matches should move up whether their rating points say they should or not. That will at least keep things fresh for a week or two until they have to move back down again if they do not win.)

awesome idea. even with the inevitable stomping here and there, it would help make things less stagnant.

And I agree, while zerging places is great and all, I like the fights where strategy determines the winner. They can be long but well worth it! Wish I could have time in the morning to be in one of those fights. Maybe I will call in with a flat tire tomorrow.

That was disheartening last night. I logged on for a bit and we had two Commanders running around ET and they were doing a pretty good job of taking back the keeps, garrison, and our towers. But almost as quickly, they would fall to SF again. We just didn’t have the numbers to leave behind to defend so it ultimately turned into a karma/xp train. The group I was with ran out of steam and got wiped near Champs and most of us seemed to head off to bed after that.

don’t worry too much about it. hey, the xp and karma was good, right? and rest assured, we grab it back in the morning.

during prime playtime SF can field a zerg of easily 40+ people (and if anyone wants to challenge me on that, i can provide screenshots), while still having enough left over to guard camps and towers AND cause distractions on other BL, while ET usually can barely scrape together enough people to pop orange swords on the map. i think Ferg is in a similar situation in terms of numbers.

that being said, i can tell you from experience, ET has a lot of fighting spirit currently, even for being at the bottom of the barrel for quite a while. i’ve been having fun lately

I believe SF can field that many people. But stop the we can “barely scrape together enough people” junk. There are plenty of times you have enough people for a deent zerg and defenders. Take yesterday for example. You had plenty of people to defend your garrison from multiple break-ins and still enough of a zerg to take stuff on EB.

Oh, and another note: I was in our BL yesterday and a bunch of ET were taking Bluebriar and Bluevale (over and over). Guess what? We had the outmanned buff going for us. But that can’t happen can it? SF ALWAYS out numbers both of your servers put together (as so you think from reading these forums).

to be fair, i can only report on things i personally observe. and i know the numbers flip-flop both ways. i’ve seen nights where we’ve fielded a zerg of 30-40 and i can see the chatter indicating we have defenders on the home front, but this usually only happens prime EST playtime on, or shortly after, reset night. and while we’re fielding 30, i’m taking screenshots of what looks like way more than that of you guys. during the week, our numbers drop. even at the “after work/school for America” window of time, we’re outnumbered.

the rest of the time, when we get “alot” (for us) of people together, its not enough to generate orange swords, which means we have less than 25 rolling. and we don’t always have people back home to defend.

even the “morning shift” doesn’t usually have enough people to pop orange swords (we’re close sometimes, tho. lol) but that IS the most likely time when we run into lesser numbers of SF. (or, for the past few days, we’ve run into approximately equal numbers… now THOSE fights were fun!!! MOAR PLZ!)

now with all that said and done, i didn’t get a chance to play this morning i had to work early. but i did run in real quick just to grab the score.

sounds pretty cool. take a while to implement, because just-for-looks would not high on a priority list, but still.. makes sense. i like it

if you need to get EB done, and you’re ET, try to get in between around 7 – 11am EST (3 – 7am server time, 12noon – 4pm GMT)

if you’re Ferg… ermmm. avoid the EB at those times if all you’re looking for is map completion. srsly. no offense intended. way too busy out there at that time… a solo flyer would get rolled and that ain’t no fun

the screenshot showing +425 was taken at around 7:30-7:45 am when i first woke up. the rest were scattered thru the morning. when i logged off at around 11:30am-12noon we had less (somewhere between 200-300, i didn’t catch an exact number) but were still fighting… hopping map to map (all times in EST)

Thanks for the update. Was ET able to take much overnight (overnight for me at least) or have things stayed pretty level overall? Think our (SF) score was +380 when I had to log off.

Now if I could only get my work to allow me to play at work. I have GW2 installed on my work laptop (nice Sony Viao, actually plays GW2 better than my home machine but my boss and others actually frown on me playing it at work. The nerve! :P

maw is about in the center of the snowy area of Wayfarer Foothills... Norn land. closest waypoint and where the event chain starts would be Krennick’s Homestead.

event chain consists of 1. protect the homestead from grawl (keep them from stealing food or something) 2. follow the NPC to find out why the grawl are angry. 3. destroy the dragon totem. 4. kill the sons of svanir. 5. destroy the portals. 6. kill the shaman.

so up to 6 events if you can manage to tag them all (sometimes even if i’m there at the start i only get 4-5) and a chest (once per day per character)

What the … mate. I saw the scores this morning and it was like SF 27 ET 12 FC 10, and SF was looking to gain like 20 points. I look at it now, with SF 38, ET 19, FC 18, and SF is looking to lose 10 points.
