The first time the theme comes around (0:40) it sounds like a contra bassoon playing in a higher register, but the second time (1:28) it sounds like a flute and bassoon playing together. It is a gorgeous piece and I love that they used an actual orchestra for this. I absolutely love the french horns and the fullness that the cellos give the theme. It’s been forever since I analyzed any music, but that’s my guess.
I’m 2 recipes away from getting all the recipes and about 1/2 way there to getting the fossils….if I could only raid my husband’s stash of fossils!
A title for this collection would be amazing.
Asura (and Charr) use the male version of the armor which get no butterflies.
Argh…. I wants me some cute butterflies kitten!
But thanks for responding
Yeah I want my female Asura and charr to have butterflies too! I was disappointed in that decision.
Asura (and Charr) use the male version of the armor which get no butterflies.
They are used for expensive infusions, not sigils or runes.
Its working as intended
No…at the current price the only use is for expensive infusions. It does work on runes and sigils, but at the current price it is stupid to do. If they were available at a cheaper price people could finally get runes and sigils out of karma, wvw gear and other non-salvagable gear. If they weren’t meant for runes and sigils then it wouldn’t work on them.

I have a stoopit question about this item. If I have a skin already on my backpack will applying this destroy that skin forever? My character has the toy bag skin from the winter event, and I’d like to keep it for stupid sentimental reasons. :P
Thanks!
The skins are stored in the wardrobe and you can switch back and forth as many times as you have transmutation charges!
And I want to see posts and screenshots about this! (Please?)
Thanks for the update, Curtis!
about what? when someone finally gets their skin/raffle reward mailed to them, or? sorry, i’m confused
Yeah I’d like to know an actual date as to when the raffle prizes are going to be sent out….so I know what day to be disappointed :P
It would be great to know who all got the prizes…even if it is just a list of winners without which item they got.
Hmmmm… Have you submitted an in-game bug report for that?
At least one, yep!
I don’t know what was said previously, but doesn’t “bug” work in the context of this situation? It wasn’t intended that the animations play during particular moments. They played. That sounds bug-ish to me. (Unless you’re suggesting that their not playing was called a “bug” as if someone thought they should be playing rather than that they were intentionally disabled. That could be a simple matter of misunderstanding, misuse of the word, or miscommunication. It seems rather a minor point to me.
Again, for clarity: Because the animations were not appropriate for the setting, they were disabled. They will be re-enabled when they can operate as intended. We don’t have a timeframe for this at the present time.
They’re referring to this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Female-human-only-has-1-animation-now/page/2#post4392079
A thread was made stating that human females only have 1 idle animation. The fact that the other animations were removed was referred to as a “bug”.
But if the animations were removed on purpose, then that was intended and not a bug. So which is it?
My immersion is broken when Rytlock jumps into the ghost hole in one of the LS instances! I don’t like seeing my character spaz out in the background!
You mean the hole that doesn’t appear? Last few times I’ve done this the ground doesn’t break and Rytlock just jumps into the solid rock. o.o
I’m guessing if you preview it with the light carapace top it won’t look as noticable.
Just for the sake of it here it is. I’m fine with some floating but that is ridiculous imho.
Yeah…that is a bit much. The shoulders I usually hide on my charr because they’re usually that bad. >.<
I posted this in another thread but the carapace light armor shoulder floats rather far away from the body.. not sure why their art department feels that it is acceptable.
You’re previewing it with another armor top. I’m guessing if you preview it with the light carapace top it won’t look as noticable. Each shoulder set “floats” a certain amount away from the body based on what the chest piece of the set looks like. When you mix-n-match it becomes noticable when the spacing of the top and shoulders isn’t the same. Some shoulders meant to go closet to the body clip into tops that have shoulders that float higher above.
Theory:
Small holes cut into fabric of armor where tail goes that just barely fit the tails.
That are magical holes because they move with the tail swishing but never disturbs the fabric. >.>
(disclaimer: Sometimes I personally care about the tail clipping, sometimes I don’t. Depends on the day)
I’d love to hear Gaile’s thoughts on this or to know if the devs have even thought about adding these new permanent currencies to the wallet.
I’m up to three stacks of bandit crests and nearing three stacks of geodes. Even if just these two were added, that would be a huge help. I don’t mind carrying around the lockpicks (but a keychain for those would be great too).
But if I’m going to need to save up several stacks of these currencies to use for things then I really want this in my wallet. It’s a wonderful system and I love it, please use it for these permanent things. Pretty please.
I don’t understand what the problem is. Are you wanting the tail not to come through the clothing, so no tail is showing? Would seem wierd to not have the tail coming through the clothes. /shrug
No…many people want them to think about how the armor looks with the tail. To design the armor around the tail. Much like the light armor does with a split in the back and either leave it at that or have “tail armor” that has something that covers part of the tail.
On the heavy and medium armors of this particular set (and MANY many others) the charr tail clips through the back of the armor because there was no thought put into how to have the armor either drape over the tail or design a split in the back of the “butt cape” to accommodate charr tails.
The same goes for Asura ears and feet.
In CoX (City of Heroes/Villians) there were open world zones that were PvP zones. While it wasn’t somewhere I went regularly, I went there occasionally to do badge hunting and exploring and just to check it out.
What if we had one or two zones about the size of Dry Top/Silverwastes that allow open world PvP. It can even be worked into the living story by the following:
- There would still be Mordrem and other hostile mobs in the zone.
- There would be a few events that can be completed by 1-5 people.
- Players in your party are the only ones that you cannot attack or be attacked by. OR another way would be to create a squad with a commander tag and anyone in that squad would remain non-hostile. This might give the commander tag another use and might even open a way to allow for GvG in a zone such as this.
- Entering the zone causes players to be infected by Mordrem Spores and gives a condition called “Muddle”. “Muddle” causes players to no longer know who or what is on their side and anyone and anything there not in their party is a hostile entity.
- Going through this portal gives a player a pop up stating that the zone is infected with spores and that anyone can attack them there (PvP Zone). This gives everyone forewarning so they know before going there that it is a hostile zone.
Not everyone would want to go there, but it would be clearly marked as a PvP zone. It would give those folks who want the ability to do open world pvp a place to go.
As it isn’t something that I personally would want I don’t know if this would work or not but it might be a starting place for people to talk about how this might or might not work.
Tail clipping is part of the Charr culture.
It is what makes them so aggressive.
I guess backwards footprints is also part of their culture too. Makes tracking them harder >.<
Yep, made this same post yesterday.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-Currencies-The-Wallet
I looked at the light armor first and was pleased to see no tail clipping….then I saw the medium and heavy.
Why can’t you have the same thought put into all three weights of armor. I love my charr ranger but it sucks that I can’t find many armor sets that I both love the look of and don’t have tail clipping.
The devs have said before that they don’t want seasonal / holiday currencies in the wallet because they don’t want to clutter it with stuff you won’t need and that serves no purpose 99% of the time. And I can kind of see their point there, although I’d still favor a separate tab or something just to get some of that out of the bank while still keeping it from cluttering the wallet. Just throw a tab on the side for “Holiday currency” so that it remains hidden.
Yeah I can see not adding the holiday currencies, but Dry Top and Silverwastes are permanent zones, with permanent content, and these two new currencies (and the lockpicks) are account bound and not going anywhere except taking up even more room in my inventory and bank.
I love the new zones and the mechanics they offer, but seriously if you give us regional currencies, please put them in the wallet. The wallet is awesome and I love these new events. Make it easier for us to keep and store the funds we use in these zones.
Do the winners get to pick which skin they get or are those randomized too?
I would love for all this stuff to be put in the wallet. I’d also include Geodes into that. If its a currency and it can’t be traded (ie accountbound stuff) it should have a new home in either the current wallet or a new wallet tab (that scrolls so that as they add more currencies they don’t have to redo the panel).
They’ve done good so far about making things look clean and simple and I’m sure they can come up with something to keep the clean and simple look, but include all of the account bound and non-craft related currencies into our wallet.
Yup, I already made exactly this post:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Another-new-currency/first#post4537823
Great minds think alike
Maybe a mod can merge our two topics then to keep the thoughts on this together.
Fear detected!
Annoyance, love. I like playing PvE without being bothered by other people or their requests to duel if it’s optional. Keep PvE and PvP separate, thank you very much.
There’s too many advantages to dueling, that duel requests is a tiny issue in comparison. Besides, Anet can always add a “block all requests” options. ;D Besides, it’s more immersive if there’s pvp in pve, as long as it’s not annoying, than a complete, 100% division.
I don’t see any advantage at all to dueling. None. I can’t even imagine any reason that would make having a dueling option be an “advantage” for anything.
Personally I don’t care as long as there is a “block requests” option.
I can think of one advantage
It’s fun
which is the point of gamesWhat’s the advantage of farming your little PvE hearts off for nifty looking skins? or reaching the end of a jumping puzzle for crap rewards? fun maybe?
Fun for you, but not everyone…but then again nothing is going to be universally “fun” for everyone. Nothing exists anywhere that every single player in the game is going to find the same level of enjoyment in. I personally hate sPvP..I do it for the reward tracks and a few AP here and there. I like WvW because it feels like there’s more to it than “hold two points more than the other team”.
I do see one thing that I might call an advantage in having dueling or whatever you want to call it. Variety. Having more and varied things that can be done in the game would be an advantage. I don’t care if it’s something I’d never do myself or want to do, variety is good. But I still disagree with saying that “there are too many advantages to it”, I can see maybe the one, but it is a good one.
I am but one of many who play this game and respect that other people enjoy other things. Even if dueling, capes, or whatever is added to the game…I don’t care. Nothing is forcing me to don a cape and duel folks and two people over there fighting won’t bother me.

We now have even more currencies that are going to be sitting in peoples’ inventories. Why can’t one of the segments in the wallet contain these extraneous currencies so that they’re shared among all of our characters, not lost in someones inventory and not taking up precious bank space.
I would love if we could get currencies added to the wallet rather than having more and more items to store in my bank or inventory.
Other possibilities to add would be:
WvW Tournament Tokens
Queens Gauntlet Tickets
Bauble (maybe not as these get traded in for the Bauble Bubbles, and you have a limit of one stack while in SAB)
Bauble Bubble
Black Lion Ticket Scrap (Perhaps keep these as an item, and double click 10 to add a ticket to the wallet)
Black Lion Ticket
Lockpicks (Zepherite, Bandit and whatever new ones we get)
Attached is one way that you might be able to add other currencies in to the current wallet. If you make each of the lower three rows slightly smaller you could also change it that way to accommodate more of the different currencies and tokens we’re getting.
I love the wallet, it was a wonderful QoL upgrade and it would be nice if we could get some of the new currencies we’ve gotten added to the wallet in order to help us manage the currencies better and more effectively. While my try at adding the geodes and bandit crests isn’t the best, it might be a good starting place at a way to add more of the different tokens given to us.
Add Prisoner.2419 then, and pm me if you see me on. I’m usually on after around 6PM EST on weekdays.
I"m curious about this too. I loved venturing out there just to play around. (I"m NA).
I would really like to get a chest of random skins. Not actual gear that’s salvagable. Just a bunch of skins like we had with the PvP chests. It can even exclude the dungeon gear. I wouldn’t even mind if it was mostly stuff I already have.
I know of a personal story instance that has an infinite supply of rats in LA sewers.
There are no drops in the personal story, so it doesn’t matter.
So turning those rats into candy would not give you a bag? I think I will try it out, I have a new 80 that has 0 personal story done.
I have a character at that story step already and tried it. You don’t get loot from personal story at all and this is no exception. The rats turn into candy corn elementals, you kill them and get nothing at all. Don’t waste your Maize Balm.
Since Halloween is about over and it’s clear I don’t get to be a bunny for Halloween….
How about let us be Snow Bunnies. Please. <3
The issue here is almost certainly a product of being in a zerg, and getting your first tag on the Horror too late in the battle.
That issue is covered in a more general thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Limited-amount-of-people-getting-loot/first#content
I’ve been one of the first to attack, been in a full party while doing so, staying there the entire time fighting with the group and not gotten the champ bag from ANY of the three champs in there. I’d go and get a new character, join a boss battle in the middle and be there by myself (no one else in party) and get the champ bag.
My guess is DR is kicking in after being there for less than an hour. (I know because I start a MF buff when I get there and before the one booster wears off I’m not getting loot anymore).
DR sets in way too quickly there. I’m tired of finding a nice map but then having to switch characters every hour. I took a day off from farming and probably won’t go back again tonight….hopefully this weekend I don’t have to switch so freaking often. >.<
I don’t expect to ever see Gwynefyrdd…I just want the endless Bat tonic. I spent ALL day in the Labyrinth every day this weekend and have opened 500-1500 bags every day since release and I got a Mini Zuzu, recipe for the bat tonic and two food recipes. My total ToT bags farmed & opened is about 5300 so far. I’ve put off doing dungeons for this two week period in order to farm my own bags because I would like the mini and endless bat tonic, but at this rate I don’t see it happening. I’ve at least made the recipe for the gift of souls thanks to what I’ve gotten from the bags and even if I can’t find my own endless bat tonic I can farm the gold to buy one of those….the mini however is just stupid that it is account bound AND rare.
I honestly have never seen the difference between the “old” and “new” running animations, but I admittedly don’t like playing human characters despite having two of them. The idle animations would be nice to have back.
Eyes on the two-handed weapons, please. ^.^
animation „new“: front
animation „new“: hammer
animation „new“: greatswordanimation „old“: front
animation „old“: hammer
animation „old“: greatsword
watched both several times…nope. Still don’t see it. But there’s apparently something there for so many people to be complaining. Just because I don’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. I even put the videos side by side and I don’t see a difference. not in the pacing of the feet, swinging of the arms, the way the weapon moves…I don’t see what you’re seeing.
I don’t think “better than nothing” will suffice. Sorry.
Well it looks like all we’re getting on this is nothing. ~shrug~
- Make the unlocks account wide per class. Example: You have a guardian main and have unlocked all of the traits, your new guardian would automatically know these traits because your older guardian “mentored” them in the learning process. If you made a new thief though, the skills would be locked until a thief on that account unlocked those the traits. I know this would not be easy to implement, but it would be a huge QOL improvement.
The most People I know don’t have many different characters of one class, instead they have different characters of different classes. So they will gain nothing and still have to do the same boring stuff with each and every character.
It would be better than nothing though at least. I don’t have multiples of every class, but for some I do have two or more (depending on how many races I wanted of that class).
That is your teaser.
it’s been bugged since they “fixed” it. By fixing the endless howl they removed all of the nighttime effects and haven’t said they’re going to re-enable them or anything else.
I’ve not commented on the new trait acquisition method yet because I wanted to try it for myself….and here are my thoughts.
PRO
- I like the earning of traits. It is a nice throwback to earning skills in GW1
- I like that it shows you where to go to unlock the trait.
- I like that it helps point people to different areas of the game and things to do.
CON
- When I leveled my newest characters, by the time they got to 80 I had almost no traits at all. Even going through 100% map completion, I found I still had to buy traits in order to have any sort of a build.
- While some unlocks have changed, that dang overgrown grub is still in there. No one ever kills that thing. Change it to capturing Stonemist or something that people ACTUALLY do.
- Trait unlocks point you to jumping puzzles, mini-dungeons, dungeons, map completion and wvw….why not include completing a pvp match in order to unlock a trait (Or something that points people to try pvp at least once). If you’re going to include all parts of the game, include ALL parts of the game.
SUGGESTION
- Give the first trait of each tier (in all lines) for free….even if it doesn’t make a “real” build. The rest should remain as unlocks to be earned through the world. This would allow players to have something in their chosen trait lines as they go out and earn the rest. To roam around without traits at all feels very wrong to me.
I have two empty character slots and don’t want to deal with the trait system anymore. I’ve tried it and really dislike not being able to have traits at all (even cruddy ones) until I can discover them myself. It makes doing the content to GET the traits harder when you don’t have any traits at all to start with.
Indeed. My suggestion to them was that if space is an issue, then restructure the way the skins are given out.
1. Instead of having each separate skin listed there, combine them all into a single Weapon Box (e.g. Fused Weapon Box, Lovestruck Weapon Box). You open the box and you pick the skin you want.
2. Consolidate all the different Weapon Boxes into categories. For example, you can have a “Season 1” category for Fused/Sclerite/Dreamthistle skins, a “Festivals” category for Lovestruck/Halloween/Wintersday skins etc.
You now have saved a lot of space, and you can still keep all the weapon skins permanently available.
People, who trade in those skins, would be able to pick up a box, then a couple of months later be able to choose, which weapon they want (obviously the most expensive one). Not sure, if that is a good change or not.
Not a huge difference than now, only now people have to guess which one they think will be the most expensive.
These attempts to increase your revenues from the game are soo irritating……..first you (Anet) ended the key runs in the previous update……..and now this…….and all in the name of “simplifying”
Yes how dare a company (whose first and foremost purpose is to make money) dare try to make money?
Do you have anything constructive to add on this? Or are you just attacking other forum members? I’ve not seen you say anything positive about the system, but you’re just blindly defending the company’s right to make terrible decisions based on the lie that it is for “new players”. As much as I object to their “improvement”, I am disgusted by the lies. This is NOT to benefit new players “confusion”.
Do you like the new system? If so, why?
Yes, they need to make money, but why are they doing so by taking away functionality that we had and making it seem very shady by requiring a minimum purchase that is either too much or two little than most items in the store.
And they should be at work by now…..last post from Gaile was on page 7 as far as I could find. When is someone going to come back and “talk” to us?
Yes, it’s still bugged for me(actually it seems to be worse than before/occuring more often)
Yep, same here. Happens more often now. >.<

This exactly…you can preview them all in the wardrobe so there’s no reason not to do this.
That is a nice change and much appreciated…..now if the different set minis would list on them which set they’re from in the tool tip that’d be even better so I can see in-game which set minis I need.
and how do we know exactly how this “lottery” is going to work? What if one person puts in a HUGE number of these wrappers. Will they be “chosen” more than once? Will it be a fair drawing?
I have 0 hope that I’ll see a winning ticket. I found 14 wrappers last night in treat bags and will continue to put them in as I find them, but with no trust in this company anymore, and no trust in the RNG system…nope, no hope.
And is it 1000 people getting selected or will it be 6 people getting 100s of each? That part is very unclear.
Every entry has a specific number, if you add 100 entries and three of those numbers are chosen you simply get three winnings.
Isn’t that how all raffles with multiple amounts of entries work?
Nope, not all of them. Some specifically disqualify multiple wins, but allow for multiple entries to give people an increased chance at getting a win.
The way the skritt’s store looks though makes it seem as there will be 6 winners, each getting 100/200 of the skins and becoming a tycoon of that weapon skin. If it’s one winning ticket per skin then the store is poorly designed and explained.
the question remains though: Are there 6 winners or 1000 winners?
Either way, grats to the lucky ones because I know I won’t see one myself.

Now I know why the patch took so long…you all wanted to get out of the office as quickly as possible after this travesty went live. You hoped that we’d cool off by the morning, but guess what. I slept on it before commenting and nope. This SUCKS.
I like the one page rather than the sliding page and I like the instant see the changes at the top. That’s where the like stops.
You’ve hidden the market data so you can do whatever you please to the gem conversion rate. Yes, when a new patch hits the cost spikes but it has NEVER spiked this much this quickly. This is absurd.
You want something constructive? See the attached image, print it out, hand it to the design folks and FIX IT.
You took away choice and freedom to give us a blantant cash grab in the guise of “simplicity for new players”
We are not stupid and you (the company as a whole) are treating us like children who don’t know any better.
It’s bad enough that buying gems with real world money comes in increments that rarely match up with prices in the gem store in order to get us to buy more than we need. Now you’re doing it with the gem to gold conversion too.
Rant time:
I am so bloody sick of hearing
- It was confusing to new players. – we’ve heard this enough lately it’s now a running joke. “Loot was confusing to new players so it has been removed from the game.”
- We’re listening to your feedback. – Okay this might be true…you’re listening, but are you actually HEARING what we’re saying as we voice our concerns? Just because you’re listening doesn’t mean jack. Actions speak louder than words.
- It is a bug but we’re “working” on fixing it. – See: Defeated Camera (That wasn’t broken in the first place but you “fixed” it), Missing Human idle animations, Personal story out of order, and so many others….
- I wouldn’t rule anything out – lies and slander. You rule things out every day. You change things without telling us (stealth changes to dungeons), completely dismiss good ideas presented in CDIs and know there are things you’re never going to do.
- It’s something we’re aware of and are thinking about
- and all of the other BS responses we get in interviews
For whatever reason you hide big changes like this conversion until it’s live. What harm would it be to show us a preview a week out from launch to get feedback? We could have given other options on how to simplify it and make it easier to use, instead you saddle us with a cash grab, remove choice and freedom and hide the market data so you can more easily tinker with the gold-gem conversion rate.
See the attached for my suggestion to keep the good with the old and fix it. The way it is now is completely unacceptable. I liked being able to get the just a few more gems to get another something because the real-money buying gems doesn’t match the gemstore prices. The new interface is terrible and is NOT for new players. New players can’t afford any gems at these prices, so whatever “metrics” you’re using are wrong.
Anet has lost my respect for them. Once upon a time I loved you guys, I loved you so much I sent a personal email to Chris Whiteside to voice my gripes…he said he’d “call” me to talk about things. I was overjoyed to think they cared that much to chat with an individual player, but the call got moved back and moved back and then never happened. I’m jaded and you continue to do things to further remove any respect I have for the company that puts out what in most aspects is an amazing game. Dangit, I love this game and the game play but you have to quit crapping on your veteran players. Why do you hate the ones of us who have been here since the beginning? I get it, I’m not a shiny new toy to play with, I’m the old worn and formerly really loved toy sitting in the corner….do I not matter anymore? /cry
I would love this so much. It would make it a whole lot easier for me to buy (for example) the ambrite weapon recipes if all of my characters knew which recipes were already learned on my account. Now I have to keep a list on my desk to check off as I buy them and learn them.
I wouldn’t ever delete any of my original characters anyways, but this would be a huge convenience and QOL upgrade.
Were you in party together? If so, were you in the same instance of the same zone. Just because you’re on the same map, doesn’t mean you’ll both spawn to the same version of the map.
If you both are in the same party, one of you will right click on the portrait of the other and “Join in [nameofzone]”
Here are my screenshot competition suggestions:
- Take a screenshot somewhere in Tyria, post it (minimap erased from pic), and the first three persons to find the place and post a similar screencap get a prize.
- Selfies with a guild bounty target that is not in combat. The first users to post get a prize.
- Selfies in an original location or a hard to reach place. This one needs judges to vote for best screencaps.
- Name a monster (Veteran risen turtle) every day/week and the first screencaps get a prize.
Regards
While some of these I think have a good idea in them…I personally hate “First three to post x” wins. Some people have slow connections and with that the sheer amount of loading screens disqualifies some people. I’d rather a contest be based on merit or creativity rather than “I have the fastest connection and can type the fastest.”
I didn’t get to do the dungeon the first year. I was still leery of doing dungeons at that point and was looking to doing it last year and it never appeared ;_;
I use the Windows Snipping tool when I need to get the tooltip on an item. Much easier than using paint.
