Oh also, I did gain a good amount of EXP walking around in frostgorge, killing enemies that are rarely killed with exp boost, laurel exp boost and food exp boost.

Right now the LA Event seems to be pretty “profitable” in terms of exp gain.

By checking out every heart vendor after you completed their heart-events/quests or however you want to call it

edit: You can also check out the trading post if you are not wearing light armor (they are very expensive because people salvage them for high end armors)

Most of the extremely unique items are also expensive. For example weapons like infinite light or mjolnir .

Also here you can find a lot of those tonics that are in the game.

That was one of the original ideas behind the trait system, modifying your skills with traitpoints. For some reason they scraped the idea in the development process so I don’t think it will come back.

That’s why this system exists in the first place. The game needs more fights like tequatl, tbh. I think the wurms are a little bit to hard to kill them daily but tequatl is just about right.

I believe GW2 could have survived with horizontal progression added, similar to how it was in GW1. We will never know now, because it’s too late to take it away.

P l e a s e s t o p saying that GW1 had no vertical progression, it’s like you didn’t even play the game. Like I said in my earlier posts in many posts before that in other threads. There was a vertikal progression in the game, getting Best in Slot gear at release forced you to grind.
Getting max armor and max weapons was easy but putting those max upgrades and max runes on them was expensive as hell. I personally never bothered to buy a superior rune of health up until NF was released an all those prices went downhill really fast.
After the release of Factions they started to add factiontitles (kurzick, luxon, later with NF: lightbringer, sunspear and with g:wen: deldrimor, asura, ebonblade and slayer). Reaching the maximum title on any of those factions did involve lots of grinding and they did improve PvE skills (skills that were just usable in PvE and im comparision to the GW2 PvE exclusive heal skill, actually pretty strong) so you can’t say “they didn’t matter anyway”. GW1 was grindy, GW2 is grindy. Get used to it, any orpg involves some kind of grinding.

The end game achievements like vanquishing and cartography sure. But the game itself was not grindy at all – it was entirely story based and armour was very very easy to get.

PvE skills, faction-based titles that gave you access to armor, weapons and consumables and in the first year getting BiS gear was expensive aswell (runes, upgrades)

I would strongly suggest to do two things.
a: get a quad core processor.
b: get a solid state disk to run windows and gw2 (and other games and programs).

If needed you can trim down on the graphics card.

If you did that you can run WvW on high (not ultra) settings.
Furthermore, your powersupply likely can’t pull it, please consider to upgrade it. for just a lil bit more money you got a powersupply that is over 600 watt, and good in the safe zone.

When it comes down to desktop vs laptop for gaming, really the desktop wins every time – simply because it’s modular and so easy to upgrade parts.
My current machine is currently about 5 years old. Only the case is original. Everything inside has been replaced half-a-dozen times.

Learning to swap out motherboards, CPU, PSu, GPU etc are vital skills for a gamer if he/she is not to become bankrupt chasing the dragon.

Besides, for work, any old rubbish will do. Just pick up a second-hand piece of junk from eBay.

I don’t get it, he/she asks for a laptop and people keep recommending desktop pcs. Yeah it’s true that they outperform any laptop at the same pricepoint but I am pretty sure the OP has a reason why he wants a laptop.

For this budget I’d look out for an used thinkpad, the T series especially. Those are business grade notebooks with a really good build quality and decent processors, they tend to be sold en mass and are mostly in a really good condition because mostly they are used at a working environment.

For the CPU, a higher clockrate is more important than the amount of cores, in this game.

150% seems to be what lots of people suggest. That’s the point where you need extreme amounts of essences to raid your MF any further.

GW1 had lots of grind and yet people, including myself, played from release up until the release of GW2, not sure what you are talking about.

A) didn’t like in back in GW1 too much and pretty much “hate” it in GW2 now.
