Necromancer power build got significant buffs because DS got huge upgrades, axe got buffed, wells got buffed.
People still move out of wells, and DS still lasts about 3 seconds in a fight.
I’m still getting the same results pre patch. Blow your load and if they are still alive you are screwed. Perhaps that I’m in PVT gear is this issue? Are you ‘power build is amazing now’ people in zerkers?

•Necrotic Bite: Increased the life force gain from 4 to 6
•Wail of Doom: Added an unblockable skill fact.
•Well of Corruption: Reduced the cooldown to 40 seconds
•Well of Suffering: Reduced the cooldown to 35 seconds
•Ghastly Claws: Increased the life force gain from 8 to 10
•Dagger Mastery: This trait now grants a 20% recharge reduction.
•Vampiric: This trait now scales up 6 additional points with power for its damage and healing for its healing per attack.
•Axe Training: This trait has been moved to the Master tier
I’ve tried many different builds and it seems like this patch hasn’t done much for this type of playstyle. Wells got reduced but people still move out of them. We still have no cleave, and our survivability through DS is still lacking. I feel like this patch has made the spotlight for conditions even brighter, and I’m wondering if power builds is just plain inferior now or is it just the builds I’m making. I’m not a huge expert, but I’m also not incompetent.
Is anyone else having a better time than I? This is regards to WvW roaming,havocs, and spvp btw.
I run a D/F, A/W (or staff) necro and roam quite a bit in soldier gear. I find that if I use wells, I can burst someone down real fast, but if they escape my root or become immune to my burst I’m pretty much screwed. Without wells, I do much better.
Roaming is about 30% solo fights, and yeah when you become outnumbered even by 1 it makes the fight an uphill battle. I have come out of it victorious, but it’s very rare. Unfortunately power necro’s can’t handle more than one person without mobility, stability or immunity. Condi specs have a better chance, but once your fears are used you are a sitting duck.
Other roaming professions have way more tools to handle 1vX fights, and necro’s are at the bottom. The only counter to my engi is a condi fear necro, but I know they are free bags if I’m with anyone else.
Are your purposely using a sup monk and major monk for the +healing or is this site not right and you are using it for the boon duration?

Running any form of tanky build is firstly annoying and mainly only used by people who can’t survive playing a normal build (Ex. BM rangers, Tank Mesmers)… Due to the CT’s build being mainly used as a burst retaliator, and as thieves are 90% of the time burst.. you just made yourself look stupid :/

I’m sure he is quite good, however I can only go by experience and so far he’s great at running with guildies. Him running away from me to his group on vista island to fail at chasing me down, or camping SE tower with 5 other people trying to “solo” me are good memories.

leveling any character in WvW depends on what you do. If you run with a zerg taking objectives non stop you get decent amount of xp. Personally I find PvE is the fastest, and of course crafting when you get to lvl 30.
Any build works with WvW since you will be underleveled and won’t be able to hold your own anyway.

Mesmer was my first profession but I switched because it was too easy. Sword 2, mirror, shatter+ sword 3, dodge, decoy, staff 2, shatter, collect bag. Yawn.
Easily countered with a engi or necro.
Because engie takes skill? spam pistol and prybar with hgh, kitten durp, condi necro? spam corrupt boon + epidmeic/plague form. But you are right, they are good counters to mesmer, however it won’t be the first time I’ve played against these classes, and I have no quarrels against fighting them.
True about the engi, though juggling elixirs takes a lot of attention. My necro isn’t condi though, so it takes more effort :P

The skin applies to the back piece of your choice just like any other item. When you want to trasmute it again, the skin will still become an option to move to the next item.
In reality you can transmute the skin as much as you want as long as you have the lvl 80 stones and you don’t acidently transmute the wrong skin.
You cannot beat a half decent D/P thief as a powermancer. You must play a terror condi build to have any chance, and even then they can just wait out your cooldowns and keep resetting.
Necro power spec is a team spec. It’s not a duel spec and you’ll only beat bad people with it because quite frankly you don’t have the burst other classes have nor the invulnerabilities/blocks to foil spike while staying offensive. Everytime you go into DS your damage drops significantly because your only really good DPS ability is an autoattack.
This is so completely false. Just because you can’t make it work doesn’t mean it’s unviable. I have beaten plenty of good players. Using DS for damage gets you killed. Good necro’s only flash DS.
While it’s true I do not have the burst, it doesn’t really matter anyway. They don’t have the burst either because my DS eats it up.
with D/F – staff you have plenty of ways to hinder a thief (or any profession really). Necro’s just have to work a bit harder to get the same result and I’m okay with that.
DS their initial burst, spectral walk to gain life force, spam your marks and fear their heals, dagger them down when staff is on cooldown, focus 5 their buffs and focus 4 for regen, and throw in your Lich somewhere in there.
If they run away, consider that a victory and run yourself because they can reset a fight so fast and then you will be royally screwed.
I’m not to familiar with hybrid builds but it seems like you are focusing a lot on conditions so i’m thinking A/F wouldn’t be useful to you. S/D would probably work better as the sceptor hits hard with power and drops conditions. Axe is really only good as a secondary weapon.
I agree with Flow and taking corrupt boon instead of cpc (cpc is kinda useless). Signet mastery is also not very good either and I would rather take spiteful spirit over that. If you are using a staff, greater marks is mandatory imo. Unblockable fears is just too good to pass up.
I’d like to make a suggestion to grab spectral walk or locust signet, as mobility is our biggest weakness. If you have no way to get swiftness or juke you will be a sitting duck considering most people will be faster than you. It’s personal preference to use either, as some like the constant speed and others like the swiftness.
I can tell you this though, locust signet is underrated imo and if you are fighting in a zerg you will heal to full without any healing power. If you are solo, it can still heal for a decent amount, especially when you fight a mesmer with full clones.
The range is messed up too. Sometimes it has the extended 1200 range and other times it goes back to the traitless range.
I have noticed this many times in that when im chasing someone I can cast spinal shivers but not reaper’s touch unless I get a bit closer. They should have the same range.
I have found better success with not using wells and focusing on your weaknesses ie. mobility. Unfortunately any good player will move right out of your wells and you have to prolong the fight for them to come off cooldown. Majority of the time you won’t last that long.
I have a variation of the juggermancer build and it is still effective in WvW. You can take a beating and still dish out decent damage. As I said though, I tweeked it to fit my playstyle. Definitely a good base line though.
Whenever I look at the lower part of the wvw pie chart I see a demon eating a hotdog.

You dropped down all your wells and we had an intimate 10 minutes, until some dumb ranger ran past us and shot down what was left of your healthbar. Our dance was a slow and dignified dance of death, cleansing and renewal. Blood and corruption swirled around us, as each of us bled organic wisps of darkness and swarms of luminescent green insects traced intricate patterns in the dusk. Slowly but decisively, I gained the upper hand and I was willing to let you go. You chose to stay, which made my heart race as I was siphoning life out of you. Then the stupid ranger appeared out of nowhere and shot you full of stupid arrows. Bang, bang, my (stupid) ranger shot you down!
To the nameless tank Necromancer, I wish you were with me again. I was reluctant to spend time with you but you proved me wrong and presented me your lootbag. I wish I could tell you how much this meant to me.
I’d rather have the teleport removed from the wurm and added to spectral walk.
Spectral walk turns into ground targetting teleport, leaves the green trail from your point A to B, and continues with the current effect for a few seconds all while allowing you to go back to point A.
