I’ve got more play time and enjoyment from the $10 game Terraria. Still playing it to this day.

This game really doesn’t have an aggro table. Mobs will be on one target and then randomly switch.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
It shows no damage because it deals no damage because it’s always dead.
I about spit my drink out laughing at this, also fixed it for you. =)
But jokes aside, the combat log is missing a LOT of information if you ask me. Pet damage is a very important one.

@Sleepy
Thieves bring much more to a dungeon than Rangers…
For example….? I can only think about stealth and getting a single mob from a pack sometimes.
Thief in dungeons is like ranger’s pets, in theory they are awesome, in reality…not so much.
It’s a matter of taste bringing a class over another one.
Perfect damage, mass poison buffs, perma-blind controll, sword-pistol ever-evade tanking… Well… many different interesting things.
A friend of mine plays a Thief and that blind ability in dungeons is crazy awesome.

I think you might be confused. I’m not arguing that the ranger is fine. I want it fixed. I have stopped playing the game because my Ranger is useless for the most part and waiting for these so called fix patches.
@Solid Gold.9310
Lions Arch, Go to the PvP area (Fort Marriner) and it’s the large purple portal (far left one on the map) called Heart of the Mist.
I remember also being able to enter from my character screen using the PvP tab but for some reason I don’t see it anymore. Maybe it’s because I’m in Lions Arch? Not sure.

I’ve already posted about your screenshots Sdric, they are ridiculous and funny because there is no way that ranger has full berseker and power/crit traits (you said it was full berseker on the original thread) as i was doing crits on that boss for 1.5k+ (1.7-1.9k if i’m not wrong when having 20-25 sigil stacks) unbuffed, and the pet never died on that boss and hits much harder.
I have full berserker’s and this is about what I get
Shortbow: 1 – 1.5k crits
Longbow: 1.8 – 2.4k crits. ~4 – 6k from Rapid Fire assuming all shots hit which most if the time isn’t the case.
Pet wise I use the Jaguar as DPS. When it’s alive and gets attacks off it lands crits in the range of 1.5 – 2k.
In WvW/PvP take these values and cut them in half. This is due to half your shots not even hitting targets thanks to the obstructed bug. Pets are useless because anyone that knows how to fight a ranger just keeps moving which means the pet can never hit them.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
I agree for the most part but like ANY game today (console, PC, 1st person, MMORPG) they can all be played though quickly. At that point they lose their appeal. Some people lost interest and others seem to enjoy leveling every class to max before losing interest.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
The only thing that is “really bad” is the combat system. In GW1 you could see the foe activating their skills, and the skill icon you take damage from came up on your screen.
GW2 has: “Sea of Sorrows Invader” and a combat tab with a wall of text.
Just one of the MANY reasons MANY players dislike the game and quit.
You do know they removed skill activation bars so that instead of watching little red bars fill up you’d actually watch and learn your target’s animations instead, right?
If anything, it’s a massive improvement, as at least now your attention is focussed on the game itself rather than a series of progress bars.
Depends. If it’s just you and your target or then sure, but when you start getting a lot of players on a target or some zerg vs. zerg then your target gets lost in all the other players AND skill effects/graphics.
I’m pretty sure you have been in one of those dynamic events fighting some champion where it’s nothing but a massive ball of light around the champion. If not then you need to get out more.

For reasons like this is why companies should also offer downloadable .exe patch files

So I went to log into the forums this morning and the login wasn’t accepting my authenticator code. I figured this was due to the fact I redid my phone the night before and did a restore of the Google Authenticator app via Titanium Backup. So I just went though the steps to remove the device from my account and then I re-added it and it accepted the code test code. All good right? Well I thought so. Just 30 minutes ago I went to log back into the forums and had the exact same problem. I even did the Settings -> Time corrections for codes -> Sync and it comes back as “Time already correct”. I just had to take the steps again to remove it from my account.
I was curious and tested this out on my Google account also and it accepted the code just fine.
Now I have implemented this system it some of the logins at my work so I know how every works. It just seems odd that two times in the same day the ArenaNet systems wouldn’t accept the six digit code. It almost acted as though the time syncs were off.

Pressing ALT + 1 will halt your auto attack.
Press it again to commence.
Reeeeeeaaaaallly?? This is very interesting.. I will have to look into this.
Edit: Doesn’t work. I don’t even see anything in the bindings that would do anything like this. The closes that comes to this is CTRL + Mouse 2 which toggles auto attack on/off and for that you need to click the button.

i think the ranger class is awesome, no complaints here. other then i think they should do more damage
and i agree about the rarely die part, especially with one or 2 of the Bears.
I also rarely die but that’s when I’m solo farming out in the world. When it comes to dungeons or WvW. In WvW if i’m overly careful and stay in the back of the zerg using my LB I don’t die as much but it gets boring.
Also pets (as DPS) are useless in any type of pvp and mostly useless vs. a boss (dungeons mainly but also world bosses)
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
OMG YES!!!! 90% of people who say Rangers suck, most likely spam 1 into a dagger storm. lmfao.
Honestly the game spams #1 for me. I just wish there was an easier way to stop auto attack without losing your target by mashing your ESC key. Currently I sheath my weapon which I have to mash a few times for it to take causing several shots to get off and reflect back into my face.
So what what you all are saying is, I should roll a thief. I might just do that.
I think I’m going to start one. I’m not holding my breath for these so called upcoming changes for Rangers. I just don’t see them fixing what NEEDS to be fixed. Most likely will adjust other parts of the ranger with an excuse “we want you using more abilities when you play.”

It’s another failed mechanic! Not like you got a chance in downed state 99% of the time!
The Ranger’s “Lick Wounds” ability makes me laugh. Not only does it suck, but really? A wild animal licking your wounds heals you? If anything it would kill you even faster.
Any yeah, in pvp the only real chance you have is a lucky Rally.

You can’t perma stealth AND do damage. And even if you only do Cnd you are still visible for a short time in which you can easily get tagged. This isn’t an issue anymore on servers where people know what they are doing and what they are dealing with.
Problem is, the time it takes for other players to see you (fade in time) you can restealth. The further you are away from them only makes this even easier for you. So just being in the general area, say a range of 1000-1500, makes the change that someone spots you even less.

you removed orbs arenanet. If your mindset is the same, and you use your logical senses (perhaps play on an underdog server for a while), then you will remove these also. Faster capturing would make wvw much, much, much more fun. (and fair since even a zerging server can be surprised then). Make it back as in gw1. Where 9-1 loosing team still has small chance to win (happened few times to me). Gw2 lead server = winning server. (most cases.) Especially with 10-20k diff in points.
Hell just remove everything and make players have to use harsh language at the other teams…
I had a gut feeling that removing orbs would lead to people wanting more removed.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
Both of these classes have quickness buffs, where they can finish you within (pretty much) half a second…
I know I have used my Quickening Zypher on my Ranger to speed this up but I will admit I have been instant finished a few times. I’m talking no cast time but they just walk up and BAM insta-cast finished. It’s rare but it has happened.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
I am wondering what everyone’s thoughts are about the thief and warrior who can arc their attacks, is it unfair that they have a ranged weapon that can be fired and hit people without line of sight? That seems like it would be a similar issue, so should we nerf that as well?
I’m finding myself standing on the back side a a keep wall (for a good 30+ seconds) and then randomly getting pulled to the front and often off the edge. It’s my understand that Warriors do this. Is this true and how the kitten are then doing this when I’m clearly out of LOS? This makes me rage so much.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
All of this really highlights a serious problem with the game, which is that FOR FREE, you can acquire golems in jumping puzzles and then use a squad of them to eliminate the biggest, toughest, most upgraded targets so fast that the enemy simply can’t respond in time to do anything about it.
Then the losing enemy can just do it right back. Nothing is stopping them. Just because one server/team/guild will either spend the time in jumping puzzles, spend the gold or spend badges to get golems and roflstomp while the opposing team won’t do the same doesn’t mean this is a serious problem with the game. Sounds more like a serious problem with people that want what everyone else has but won’t put the time and effort in to get what others have.

#2 The number of people standing in the capture ring of an objective affects the time in which the capture proceeds. The more standing in the ring, the faster it goes. This happens on a One for One basis. For example if 10 people are attempting to capture an objective and 5 people are opposing them, the capture progresses as if only 5 people are standing in the ring. 5 people on each team cancel out each other and the team with more members gets the advantage. This would negate the effect of 1 stealthed individual, or even 5 of them if a large zerg of 30+ stormed a location with the intent to capture.
If you have ever played WoW and does anything that requires you to capture a node then honestly their way is the best.
If there are 2 people there then they cancel each other out. A buddy comes and joins you then your team starts to capture. Another stealth buddy joins the other guy and your capture progress stalls out.
So unless WvW turns into Thieves vs. Thieves, you should get enough people to capture a node.

Is it just me or when I get roots cast on me preventing me from moving I can’t turn around nor can I even target the roots to destroy them. I had one of those big elemental trees root me the other day and I could target the roots but not attack them as if they were behind me yet I couldn’t even turn around. All I could do was wait it out and keep attacking the elemental tree.

Personally I feel guilds are only for the social aspect of chatting with other people in GW2. Without any sort of opposing factions you will never get one guild going up against another guild. My guild loved to do that in WoW. We would always look for some Alliance guild to start something with just so we could have some fun world PvP. Here there is nothing like that. There really isn’t much competition at all in that aspect.
Also I have found that being able to join more than one guild at a time is somewhat pointless seeing as you can only represent one at a time. Adding the ability for one guild member to have a character on another server then where the primary guild is located is even worse. What’s the point? Chat and guild bank usage. Can’t do anything with your guild in the world at all.
On a side note, if I see a guild member not representing, I kick them out. Just how we do things in my guild.

Hey guys, just in case you missed JP’s most current posting on pg. 7:
The patch most definitely will have bug fixes for ranger. I fixed two earlier today alone. Realistically, however we can only do a patch every few weeks if we expect to make more than minor improvements so all the things I talked about will be in the next big patch which is about 2 weeks away.
Heres hoping they are real bugs and not the so called Crossfire animation bug that not a single soul ever reported having problems with. =)

They have openly said that they are aware of the “obstructed” problem in WvW/sPvP and are trying to fix it. This isn’t just with arrows but happens with almost all range attacks from all classes. Warriors guns, Elementalists various attacks and so on.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
I’m curious what classes (er professions) people are seeing the most of in these?
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
I like to idle in Lions Arch at times and chat with guild mates and I’m always trying to fine a nice place where I don’t hear some random NPC blabbing.
Also when standing at a banker or trade post NPC, Why do I have to hear that NPCs voice when some other player walks up and talks to them? Wow that goes old real fast.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
So I have been playing WvW on and off for some weeks now. I have about 1200 kills however I’m only at about 130 badges. Is this normal or am I just unlucky with RNG? Just seems like it’s going to take forever to get any gear from these.
Also I’m not fond of Badges being in the bags that drop on the ground. Being a ranger and moving around alot I know I have missed many bags when battles are raging. Could be another reason for the low Badge to Kill ratio.
I was wondering if anyone has brought up having the badges auto deposit into your bags instead of being in the loot bags on the ground. As a form of game currency it seems too important to leave the chance of losing them to enjoying large battles.

Why the hell would you give such outstanding bonus coming from orbs to the dominating servers ? I just don’t get it…. You are only digging the gap between the first and the 2 other sides….
A server with 3 orbs is just totally oped…People don’t even want to try fighting back when they see that, they just leave the WvW.
What you’re saying is rubbish. I’ve seen my server have all three orbs one day then have none the next. It can be taken if you work together. Most of the time the team with all the orbs also controls the most which means they are spread thin just to defend it all. If you know they are being heavily attacked at one point, hit them hard on the other side of the map. It’s hard to defend it all when you control so much.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
It’s part of an orb cheat where you take the orb and loose the keep on purpose.
You’re supposed to do that with both orbs of the opposing teams in the beginning of the week and you are guaranteed to win the week WWW, due to the insane orb buffs.
Am I reading this right? You’re saying that you’re supposed to use these orb cheats at the start of the week to guarantee a win?
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
I play a ranged class and I never over-extend myself, so I rarely die. I also never buy blueprints :P
That’s how I come up positive in WvW :P
I’m sorta like this on my Ranger however if I’m too careful and stand back I also miss out on a lot of good action AND Badges. There is a fine line between staying back and also trying to get as many kill and badges as you can.

My gut tells me that we will never know exactly. For some reason ArenaNet doesn’t seem to want us to know things such as how much HP a mob/boss has or how much HP the player we’kittengeting has. I REALLY wish they would add an option to show the HP or at least percent of HP left of our target.
This to me feels like another poor limit of the games UI. It’s missing so much. Hell the combat log doesn’t even know my pet’s attacks or various dot tick damage I have done to some target. So much useful information that is obviously being fed to our game client but we aren’t allowed to see.

All I know is, Mesmers are the most annoying class to fight in PvP. I’m ALWAYS killing stupid mirrors and can never find and hit the real one. UGH. I guess that makes mesmers bad players because they don’t get hit? LOL whatever.
Honestly you spent too much time talking to this person. I would have walked away much sooner and ignored them.

The other day in WvW I want up against an Engineer (1v1). I was destroyed like I was level 10. I couldn’t do jack damage to him AT ALL while he melted me like butter on a 100 degree day. Granted I run my ranger with the glass cannon build and gear so I often expect to get hit hard but I couldn’t even get his health down a tiny notch. It made me sad.

roqoco, lets be honest. If you were Polish and from Krakow, you could make a guild called Krakow’s Killer Klowns [KKK] as a fun homage to that 80’s film ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’ and your country. I think the person whinging about racism is without a doubt American.
I’ll be honest I only know about the KKK from watching American films.
Exactly.. I live in America and knew what it was but at the same time it’s just three letters that could mean anything. I do not believe having KKK as a guild tag name should be bannable offence. I remember back in my WoW days there was a guild called “Together We Are Terrific” but everyone called then “TWAT”. After years of them being around someone complained and Blizzard forced then to change their guild name.

Rangers can be hard to kill if you gear and build right for it, but then you can’t do jack in damage. You’re just like one of those annoying Prot Paladins from mid-Wrath (WoW) days. Can’t kill them but they can’t kill you.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
Racism…. Honestly I believe it’s less today than most people make it out to be. If you see a racist guild tag then just move on. The less people react then the less you will see it in game and in life. These small minded racist people get a kick out if it when they make a big stir like this and big news media. Why else would they do it?
Racist people today no nothing more than a bully. The more attention you give them for what they do the more they do it. It’s sad really.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
First they create mechanics to discourage easy long-range travel.
Like what? Examples please.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
They are too high and are killing the social aspects of this game.
For example, it stops me waypointing to help or party with others, stops me from joining in with DE’s, or going to the bank.
Pretty much messing up what the game should be, a social event.
I have a hard time believing you’re that hard up on cash. If so then you ARE doing something wrong. Are you looting EVERYTHING from every mob you’re kill and vendoring the grey items? Start selling the white items if you’re that needy on cash else salvage them and sell the crafting mats.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
I will not be using any MF in this game, or very low amounts of it. To me it just isn’t fun wiping like mad or relying on my group mates to carry me because I want a greater chance of nice loot.
Then don’t use it in dungeons. I crafted my exoctic Berserker’s (medium) set for dungeons then I crafted a rare quality magic find set. I use this set when out farming in the world. I use mine to just get more level 400 crafting items and hope to get more rare drops so I can salvage them for the Ectoplasms.
Edit: typos, remind me to never reply before my morning coffee.
