I stopped doing Jurmag myself. The time taken to kill it while fighting the lag and dieing because my heal skill won’t trigger do to the SERVER LAG ends up costing more then I have ever got out of the fight. I fail at any reward from the chest. If I do get involved I just stand back and farm the trash. I get more lvl 400 crafting mats that I can at least use from the trash then I get from the chest.
Champions on the other hand are a waste of time. They are big and powerful and well, CHAMPIONS yet half the time won’t even drop grey vendor trash. They aren’t worth it unless you need to kill it for a quest/event or have a large group of people to quickly kill it off. Champions should have 100% chance to drop at least 1 level 400 crafting item.

My question to those that seem to be crying because they can’t buy or grind to make a legendary.
Why do you want the legendary? Is it for the weapon stats or do you want it for the cool look?
Also do you ask the same questions to your government in real life as to why it won’t buy you that fancy sports car because you can’t afford it or won’t grind out the work hours to make the money and buy it yourself?
Just wondering.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
Don’t forget that legendaries in this game are NOT like those from WoW. The ones in this game are a slight stat upgrade from an exotic weapon. So slight that if you’re struggling with time to grind or money that it’s not even worth it unless you want the legendary ONLY for the fancy look. Even then there is only one that looks cool. All the other are just meh or a pure joke like the long and shortbows.

I would like to point out that I use all my SB abilities except for #3 (due to it being flaky aka buggy) in PvE even when not kiting a mob around. Frost traps are for that.
In PvP I only use #2, 4 & 5 when kiting someone around. I always have my pet standing next to me unless I’m going 1v1 with someone. Sending it into a group of people is well… suicide as we all know.
Also thanks for the “we want you to play the game like you want to play only if it’s how we want you to play” excuse.

Took a couple of days to get debugging in on this. It is in fact a 40ms difference which equates to about 7% less damage when spamming 1. We made this change because it was creating some animation bugs to leave it where it was. It was also encouraging just spamming 1 which isn’t the most fun gameplay. If our data shows shortly that shortbow is now not effective we can certainly address that, but would do so by improving other skills on that weapon rather than by reintroducing the spam on 1 and the bugs that it was creating.
I would still like to see some more info on this so called “animation bugs” that not a single person complained about. What about the sword’s #1 attack problem that countless people have complained about? Will it be left alone?
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
Pretty sure Jon Peters and Jonathan Sharp are the heads of the Systems/PvP team for GW2. If Jon Peters said he’s going to look into it, he’ll look into it. If they determine a mistake was made, they’ll fix it. It’s that simple.
It’s a crappy bug, but it doesn’t make the class unplayable. Deal with it for a little while or take a break from the class. Just relax and let them do their jobs.
What really bothers me the most about this change is, I never saw ANYONE ever complain about a Crossfire animation bug or problem nor did I see anything from anet talking about a known Crossfire bug, yet this gets thrown into a patch out of the blue.
There have been many other problems (sword attack skill #1 for example) that have been talked about for weeks but seems to be nothing from anet about these. Until I hear otherwise, this was a coverup or excuse to nerf the shortbow.
That’s my primary beef….

Torch is one my favorite weapons now. I used to be sword and board but torch just kicked board to the curb for now.
YES!
Another fellow burner. I always seem to be the only one around.Though I´m gona miss the torch when I finally have my 2-hand cooldown reduction.
But but but…. the warhorn’s birdies are so cool… =( The dive bombing and crunching. I love when the mob is dead and they are still feasting on it’s dead body. =)
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
Yeah if I recall, the legendary weapons aren’t even worth the time and effort for the tiny amount of an upgrade they are over the exotics. They are more for show. I’m not going to bother trying for some flower or unicorn bow that’s for sure.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
I want 3 things fixed for my Ranger and I would be happy for the time being.
1. Revert the shortbow change from Oct. 7th patch. There was no animation bug.
2. Fix the sword #1 skill. This DOES have an animation bug that locks you in place and prevents you from using your dodge/evade or other ability in a snap.
3. Buff pets so they won’t die in dungeons from AoE so easily. Keep adjusting their F2 ability, it still doesn’t always trigger and needs to be spammed.
Is that to much to ask?

No idea. We were told last night they would look at it, and then its been crickets.
I’m guessing the employee that said they would look into it got a scolding about getting our hopes up….
That Employee happens to be JonPeters aka Game Designer
Doesn’t mean anything. I’m sure there is a Lead Game Designer that’s above him in the corporate chain. I’m head network engineer/programmer at my company and I still have people above me that have overruled my calls in the past.

Personally I’m not holding my breath for them to revert this. Was there even any documentation about this so called animation bug? I don’t recall seeing one. I still believe this was an excuse to nerf the shortbow.
I’m already starting to look at another profession (aka class) to change to. If I can’t find one I like then I’ll move on to another game.
ANet’s lack of fixing real Ranger bugs while fixing many many other bugs from every other class for every patch only backs this up even more.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
As of lately my pet won’t attack what I’m attacking. I have it set to guard and also try telling it to attack my target. Nothing, just will just stand next to me however right before the mob goes to die THEN it starts to run at my target..
This was happening before the Oct 7th patch as well.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
Yeah I never had any problems pre-patch with this skill. Personally I’m taking this as an excuse to nerf the shortbow.
I’m hoping they confused this with the sword animation problem.

All pertaining to WvWvW
1) Fix the “culling”
2) Remove the caps, get rid of the queues
3) Make matching permanent, no resets.
4) Remove the scoring
5) Make each claimable location provide a small buff (cumulative) for the server that holds it (server wide, not just PvP).
6) Add a PvE zone gated by held territory in PvP (ala Darkness Falls)
7) Make Orbs of Power grant a 10% damage buff (per orb held) to the server that holds it (also server wide, PvP and PvE).
8) Remove the AoE target limit.
9) Add more/better tools for coordination/communication.
10) Remove free server transfers.
11) Remove gear damage if you die. =)

It’s not what you’re using, it’s how you use it. Both the mouse and keyboard are fine, but as Rolo said, using them for AFK farming is disallowed.
Thank you for making that clear…
Even though I haven’t found a use for my G510 macros in GW2 (yet) It’s nice to know that in the future I will be able to use them if needed. The Razer Naga buttons set to use the 1 though 0 keys along the top of my keyboard has been enough for now.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
Clear directives are essential; however, legislation can’t replace good judgement (that’s how we end up with all those silly laws and warning labels). The more you impose Anet take a stance, the more likely they will just make it easy and make the policy, “No third-party software”.
What is Anet’s position currently? Don’t automate gameplay and don’t use game mechanics in a manner not intended. AA doesn’t fall under this. Using Razer/nostromo/Logitech HID software or AHK/bot software or even no software to AFK farm events/karma does fall under this.
So what you’re saying is by using a Razer Naga mouse or using the Logitech G510 keyboard’s macro keys would be against the policy and thus a bannable offence? If so I would go after ArenaNet and demand my money back for the game.

Yea those are the kinds of things I tried, lowercase letters with accent marks. I have no problem typing them in but when I click Submit it doesn’t accept them.
I’m on a NA server and my characters name is “Avellïn”. Yes that’s a funky ï and it’s code “139”. Only reason I did this is because right at launch someone already had taken “Avellin”. I mean within minutes.. I was sad and shocked.

I know it’s most likely not possible with how the world is laid out however, I’m disappointed that there are load screens between zones. This has the old Everquest zoning feel. Seems like with todays tech level there would have been someway to not have load screens. Seamlessly going from one zone to the adjacent zone would have made the game feel much smoother.

@krojack
That’s why you take ranged pets into dungeons and swap. A lot. I usually only lose pets in dungeons if I’m being careless.
Yes I know but I would like to use any pet I wish when in a dungeon. I use a crit build and love the DPS a Jaguar (or any cat) puts out yet I’m forced to use a range pet? A simple fix would be to have pets take 75-90% reduced AoE damage from NPCs. No other change would be needed.

A Beastmastery pet with Carnivorous Appetite is a thing of beauty. I’ve gone AFK before to come back to a pile of twinkling corpses around my player and my hawk sitting there preening.
Despite the hyperbole from the “pets stink” crowd, Ranger pets are awesome. I leveled up Beastmastery and never had any issues with my pet. I felt like a chainsaw going through a stick of butter once I got some of the nicer traits.
If you totally ignore your pet (putting zero points in the BM line or avoiding all pet traits), why would you be surprised when your pet sucks?
I agree pets are awesome in the world but once you step in a dungeon, keeping pets alive is a challenge no matter how you spec. That’s their weakness. Dungeons and AoE’s. Other then that, pets are easy to manage and do great damage (dps pets) or do great tanking (bears). I find that most of my time in dungeons is spent monitoring my pet and keeping it alive, not enjoying the over all Ranger class and ability.

Well off the top of my head, one of the following:
1. Allow user based mods that can modify the basic UI such as chat replacement mods.
or.
2. ArenaNet needs to announce that they are going to add ways to customize the UI in a future update. Sure fix the bugs first, that’s fine with me but at some point allow us to customize the UI.
Oh and kill the bots off…

It’s the easiest way to get that type of Lodestone sadly…
Which means more Gold for the player and better upgrades eventually. Jormag offers terrible rewards for how risky the dragon is compared to other events.
There isn’t enough open areas for players to farm those or Tier 6 mats in general which is an issue.
How is the dragon risky? I never saw someone die at Jormag on our server except if they tried that achievement or were not revived on purpose.
The only time I die during this fight is from server lag. Toward the end of the fight my server gets so lagged that I can’t even use my heal ability.

Yup…the cash shop allows people to pay to win the fashion game. Enter CC#, buy gems, convert to gold, buy 80G legendary weapon from the TP=)
Last time I bought gets and converted it to gold it was 1600 gems ($20 worth) = 3.5 gold. At that rate:
1,600 gems for $20 (80 gems/$1)
80 gold = 36,560 gems = $457.
I think my math is correct. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
Buying gold using gems has to be the biggest mistake anyone could make. I spent my gems on expanding bank slots which works for all characters seeing as your bank is shared.
Also as someone said, you could have found a legendary and sold it to make a lot of gold. Well whoever bought that item made the gold somehow.
I’m starting to see more and more people running around with that “Champion” title. I’m not sure if I want to feel sorry for them for spending 100 gold on a TITLE or wonder how they even got that gold whether it be botting or though lots and lots of PvP.

As someone at the start of this thread stated, people are unreliable. I for one would LOVE to run more dungeons and do them over and over however my friends haven’t been logging into GW2 for about 2 weeks now thus I don’t do dungeons. I see people asking in /map over and over “looking for 2 more” for such n’ such dungeon. I would love to go but I just don’t trust people.

LFG Tool? Hope not…better add a new channel people can join if they like. One-button already exist in most MMORPG, most people play here since it’s different.
And you really think people will use that “looking for group” channel? Seen that in other games and NO ONE uses it. Everyone will still use the /map channel like they do now.

I’ll bet my life that they would never confirm anything like this. Sorry. They rarely confirm or deny anything that doesn’t seem right in this game. I have many things that I would like a simple, “Yes that’s a bug” or “No that’s working as intended” response. I would have a better chance at winning the lotto then getting any answers.

^ Bans would result in both a drop in bots and additional income for Anet. For every new account they force a gold seller to make that is 60 dollars in their pocket. Much more than your average joe plans on spending in the gem store. Paying for a few GMs is a non-issue.
Not completely true. Most hackers use stolen bank account/credit card info to buy digital game license keys. In the end this causes more of a headache and cost dealing with refunding the money back.

Ya know, if ANet relaxed a little on their “no mods because it gives people an advantage” rule and allow some mods such as chat mods, then maybe we as users could get a nice chat UI in the game. One we can customize more to our liking with custom colors and sounds for various chat events.
I LOVED the “Prat” mod for WoW. Couldn’t play the game without it.
If some ANet rep could explain how a mod such as this gives an advantage then please explain.

I think people need to be honest about something though. How quickly are they clearing the DEs? Do they actually complete the events, or just hit the mob enough to secure a bronze /silver / gold and then move on? I’ve never been hit by DR, and I stick with the event from start to end.
Same, I did a test last night. 1.5 hours farming DE’s and did about 18. Got the same about of Exp, Karma and money from them all.
» My current Guild Wars 2 game annoyances
Last night I did a little test. I farmed various dynamic events for about 1.5 hours. 18 events total. I didn’t see any DR from them. They all gave the exact same about of Exp, Karma and money.
Now I can see the DR kicking in maybe if you farm the exact same event over and over sure, but going from one event to another I didn’t see any effect.

No matter how ya change these chests.. even including dungeon tokens or karma.. quite simply, there’s no “pay to win” in GW2.
IE: GW2 isn’t “Gear based”.
Every MMO that requires you to get better gear to do more damage is gear based. If it wasn’t gear based then why doesn’t every single level 80 shortbow, common, rare or epic have the exact same stats? When you ding 80, why are you not doing the exact same DPS as another person the same class as you that’s been 80 for 5 months? It’s because they have been getting better gear.
I’m not complaining, just trying to squash out the “it’s not gear based” when in fact it is to an extent.

I don’t miss raiding. Way too time consuming.
But even with a voice server..this game seems to make peeps much quieter than other games.
but spending 2 hours to do a 5 man dungeon is acceptable.
That’s exactly how WoW: Cata was when people were first hitting level 85.
If GW2 doesn’t have some sort of end game content at some point, it will begin to lose players out of pure boredom. My friends and I were always 10-man simi-hard core raiders. It’s been a while since we did any raid and I’m starting to really miss those days.
What exactly do you miss? The purpose in raids was to get better gear, which enabled you to do the same raids, but more difficult, for other new gear, which would get you into a more difficult raid until you maxed out your gear. Then it would start all over again when a new expansion came out. Tbh, I define that as pure boredom, although yes, it was fun to play together with a large group of people.
Did you like it for the gear, or playing together with a large group? If you did it all just for the gear, then you are going to have troubles later on. If you did them to play together, there’s dungeons (small group) and WvW (as large a group as you want).
What you find boring I and others may find fun. I enjoyed the challenge of the fights along with being in vent with 9 other great friends laughing and screwing around killing trash.
WvW isn’t really all that fun with a large group of friends. It a royal pain to get everyone in the same world at the same time. Once in there is way to easy to get split up and lose where your friends are. Most of the time you end up off doing things on your own. WvW is not large group friendly at all.
I’m not saying I want raiding, I’m just saying that I miss it. My friends and I will most likely move over to FF14 for raiding, assuming it’s going to be good this time around.

I picked up 8 within a 1 hour time span last night. 3 in a row at one point. They want you to buy the keys off the TP. Another (real) money sink just to get useless junk. Granted they said they are adding or added a chance if the chest dropping a permanent trade post NPC item type of guy, I still don’t see them being worth anything at all. Maybe make the chest have a chance to drop from 10 silver up to 2 gold.

It’s pretty random how aggro works, but I don’t think you’ll have to worry about people luring mobs onto you.
Can’t count how many times others players would run past me dragging a group of mobs. Those mobs then stop chasing them and on their way back to their little home they choose to stop and fight me. I died many times from this while leveling up. Fireheart Rise, NE part of the zone was the worse.
