Some players play WvW in order to win.
You will not be able to win the match-ups in EotM since it does not effect the “real” match-up. And thus serious WvW:ers would most likely transfer if the queues were too long even with the new map.
Anet have never done anything for Au / Oceania in terms of competitions or giveaways ever. The only time a single promotion ran in AU it required an immense amount of cajoling from one of the PC magazines here to get an exclusive minipet in GW1. Other than that…

And people seems to ignore the fact that it is not only Oceania that is unable to compete. You make it sound like yours is the only country/region in the world that is excluded, when the truth is that the majority of the countries in the world are.

With that you quite clearly try to state that the elements would not exist without the Gods, which is basically the same as to claim that the Gods created the elements.

It says nothing at all about the Gods CREATING magic. All it does is talking about them GIVING magic to the Races.
We actually know for a fact that Magic existed BEFORE the Gods came to Tyria.

Personally I have NEVER been kicked and I have played more or less daily since release and often joined pugs. So either I am extremely lucky, or you are not telling us everything.

Well calling it a PvE zone is quite silly and would most likely lead to off-topic spamming.
Especially since all the other WvW maps would look just as much of a PvE map without other players around.

Funnily enough I used LOTRO as a basis for ingame voice chat. And that chat IS quite bad. There is a reason why most raids and PvMP groups chooses to use Mumble or TS instead of the built in-voice chat.
Seeing that there are no real pvp guilds in the test, I wont be surprised if the new map is full of awesome jumping puzzles and pve things. After all it seems to be the only thing Anet is able to deliver.

The main issue with adding a voice-chat in game is that they are usually quite useless and thus they would spend time and resources on develop something that most people would never use.

Who told you crafting precursors would be cheaper?
No one.
But being able to craft it will make it much more common, and thus the price should decrease, even if the crafting is costly, since you remove the RNG element.
Except (if its still the way the said in the beginning) you’ll still be getting wxp (thus ranks/chests), so theres that. Some WvWers don’t care about the score, they just want the pvp aspect (not me), so they’ll still go there, potentially.

People that actually care about WvW will most likely not let their server fail just because there is a new map.
Why would it be wierd? New items – new recipes. A lot of new items have been introduced since release which can be used such as quartz and ascended materials. I could totally see new weapons require 50 vision crystals or 250 deldrimor steel.
Because unless they are similar one of them would be easier to create, and thus would be considered unfair.
One way of alleviating over long queuing for WvWvW is to have mandatory 2 hour play time in WvWvW, after which time the player is giving 10 min warning before automatically go back to PvE. If the player want to continue with WvWvW, the player is allowed to immediately re join the queue or enter WvWvW if there is no queue.
So basically punish people that like to spend much time in WvW?
I really don’t think that is a solution. When we have events with our guild it is quite unusual that the event ends within two hours. With a system like this it would more or less force the end of the event if there was a queue.

I disagree. To go to tier 8 the player first has to buy 300 gems, then after transferring they get 1,200 to spend in the gem store or convert to what… 50 gold or so? 50 gold is nothing to those who buy gems, and for those who never do, it’s not hurting anything to give away virtual currency that costs Anet exactly $0.
Indirectly, however, it ‘starts’ to solve an issue that is driving some players (dollars) away.
It might not cost them anything, but it does let someone get 900 free gems, which means ArenaNet loses out on a bit over $10.

Well, that would depend on what the new map offers.
It doesn’t effect the WvW-score at least, so any serious WvW:er would most likely not bother much with it.
It will have overflows, thus the amount of people joining it would be rather irrelevant, since it would just create more and more maps if it fills up.

It is quite possible that the price will drop quite a bit when crafted precursors come, since precursors is the vast majority of the price to create a legendary.
I wonder if they can update the blog to reflect these changes. A random post by a dev in a random thread will mostly go unnoticed, even if you are paying attention. Many many people read the blog and think these things are coming and will be upset when they don’t.
And if they did people would complain about them trying to “hide” stuff.

There are budget reason , developpemnt cost, geographical position of server choices that suit for some and are bad for others and so many other variables.When, in a battle, you can’t even make an other action than “press 1”, or you freez for 10sec, I think there is more to do.

Not in any way or form did he say that they were planning on restricting PvE:ers (and lets be honest, the only real reason to transfer (expect between regions) is for WvW, since for everything else you can Guest.

It is extremely unlikely that they leave the lag in just for lolz.

If I recall, Dervishes were tied to Grenth only in Gw1, not all of the 5 gods (now 6)
No, the Dervish were built around being “holy warriors of the Gods”. That include all of them, not just Grenth. Their elite skills are a rather big hint, since they are able to turn into avatars of ALL (or well, all nice at least) gods, not just Grenths.

Sorry but i havent seen characters which got a really similar playstyle… At least from how i played dervish or how i remember them. Here comes what i think about dervishes:
Gods are gone that’s WHY Dervishes come back in the 2nd expansion in 5-6 years after their pilgrimage, mission or Lost artifacts which told stories about how the gods came and how they got their power or other lore lead them to wherever to tell the people of Tyria, Cantha and Elona what happened to the gods.
That is where the power of Gods and shrines where you can kneel/dance/bow to summon something slowly comes back to the world of Guild Wars. Well that is somewhat how i wanna see dervishes and shrines come back but i would like it to be next year and not in 5-6 years :P
But the Dervish power is tied to prayer and answering from the HUMAN gods. How would that work with a Charr? Or an Asura?
The Gods still had a presence in GW1 thus the Dervish could draw upon their powers, that is no longer the case in GW2, thus the Dervish would just stand around swinging their Scythes, without any actual powers that makes them the Dervish.
I guess it’s more meant that different attunement using eles are in the favour of different gods.
fire – Balthasar
air – Dwayna
water – Grenth
earth – Melandru
But it has nothing to do with the gods other than the gods tied to different elements.
The power doesn’t come from the gods, and are still very much usable without the gods, while the Dervish power is not.
It is not a dungeon.
And no, timelines are never good. Especially not with this community that shouts about lies every single time something is not exactly like they imagined it.
One could however argue that said loose ends tied up with Nightfall was also created by Nightfall.
The main issue seems to be that your data can’t exist on both data-centers at the same time, and thus a solution might be very hard if not impossible without completely rebuilding the whole server-system.

It is fully possible that they could actually confirmed the issue itself quite recently, thus it could take time to fix.
Even if they have known about it for months it would still take quite a bit of time to hunt down the issue and program a solution for it.

The dervish was BUILT AROUND worship and praying to the human gods.
They promised tons of thing for 2013 yet half the content is missing.

I think Anet has forgotten that GW2 is not just Europe and USA.
There are no Oceanic countries in that eligible list, which is not cool.
Lordkrall I highly doubt it has anything to do with laws because (I can only speak for NZ) as far as I am aware we don’t have any laws here that would make this difficult and our customs is always fine with anything that isn’t illegal.
So, please fill us in what would be the reason for excluding the majority of the countries in the world if not laws?

Why?
I prefer to do WvW, but I am still forced to PvE if I want a legendary (which is also a personal goal).
WvW is part of the PvE-world, thus the World Exploration requires it. WvW is PvEvP after all.
Of course, many people on UW is not interested in WvW, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get more people interested.
The only reason one would need World Completion is for Legendaries though, and for legendaries you need to WvW (or well, at least you did until they added BoH to the achievement rewards).
There is however another good reason as to why to keep it.
Get people to do WvW.
There are quite a bit of people that never tried WvW, due to assuming they won’t like it. But then end up liking it after being “forced” to do it in order to do world completion.
Getting more people into WvW is a good thing.
We still have a chance on UW, it might simply take some time now and then, but usually we hold every single PoI/Vista/SP at least once per month ^^
It is most likely about laws and such in different countries.
I am talking about in-lore though.
Where the guardian is specifically described as a combination of Paragon and Monk, with a dash of Ritualist Magic.
