Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Quite sad to see people complaining about this, when clearly something have happened.
Are we really so entitled nowadays so we complain about stuff being canceled due to stuff out of peoples control..?
Yes there are four maps.
But if my guild want to do an event the usually want to do it, you know, together with the guild. Not spread out on four different maps.
So if lets say my guild wanted to do an WvW event together one evening, and we managed to get more than 60 people online, we should not be able to do the event together?
Cap the maps at 60 per team per map. Let people decide if they want to wait out the queue or transfer. If they transfer (hopefully, maybe Anet might want to include some kind of incentive for a week or so) it will help even out the worlds and make some, not all, more competitive.
It will also eliminate a ton of issues like lag/latency/skill delay/to cull or not to cull … etc …
60 people per map?
That would make it completely impossible to have organized Community (or even guild) events since those often have more than 60 people wanting to join.
stuffz
Wrong thread, this is the WvW-thread, the one you want is this one:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Collaborative-Development-Topic-Living-World
You complete the meta-event for the Blood and Madness Living Story.
But there still is no actual confirmation that there WILL be a level cap increase.
Other than that the statement would indeed work, but adding a future level cap increase as fact does seem quite incorrect simply due to the fact that they have yet to confirm that there will be an increase of level cap, only that they are (or at least were 10 months ago) expecting to do one.
I may have missed this in a previous post, but do we know if the map slots are evenly divided among the three servers?
Of course they are.
Anything else would be extremely idiotic.
Fact: They are giving us more vertical progression with Ascended Armor. No need for “probably can expect”, that was just my editorial thrown in after.
I didn’t say any different in my revised quote. It doesn’t reference runes or sigils. That was in my comments afterwards. They are going to introduce more vertical progression with ascended gear in the near future in the form of armor.
You’re wrong.
Mike O’brien said, “…we’ve always expected that we will someday raise the level cap in GW2.” on a Reddit AMA after launch. In fact, it was after the introduction of the first Ascended gear.
But saying they are giving us more vertical progression could suggest that they will give us another tier, but it is only a matter of wording I suppose. It is technically the same vertical progression that was added with the Lost Shores patch after all. It is just a bit more spread out than is normal.
Ah, my mistake on the timing. That does however not remove my point.
They don’t confirm that there will be a level increase, they say that expected to raise the level cap. Not that they WILL.
And we haven’t hear anything at all about a possible increase of level cap since that comment, so saying that it will come would be classified as false since it has never been confirmed.
No additional tiers are currently planned after Ascended, and future progression will be based on continuing to introduce Ascended rarity items in other equipment categories as well as introducing new skills and raising the character level cap.
That would probably be more accurate, as we will get more vertical progression in the form of Ascended Armor soon, and can probably expect to eventually receive ascended infusions. Magenta quality runes and sigils are also an option for further vertical progression.
And of course, there’s level cap increase.
Wiki shouldn’t be based on what we “probably can expect” it should be based on actual fact. And the only actual fact we have is that there is no higher tier than Ascended planned at this time, and there is no fact about higher tiered runes and/or sigils.
There is however not a single confirmation that there WILL be a level cap increase. Only that they said that they MIGHT increase the level cap (this was also something that was said well before release of the game).
You could base it off the tally of concurrent WvW connection at any given time and average it off of that.
But that could change quite a bit from day to day, so it would be more or less impossible to get a good and correct number.
Day 1: 80 people running around in Homeborder of Server A
Day 2: 20 people running around…
Day 3 (patch day): 5 people running around…
Day 4: 100 people running around…
An average in this case would be quite useless, since it doesn’t really give a good look at the actual population of the server in WvW.
It is actually quite true.
What has been said is something along the lines of:
We are not currently planning on adding a tier over Ascended (stat-wise) and we definitely won’t do it this year.
While it does leave out some information, it is not really incorrect either.
It is bad, but at the same time it is completely impossible to do anything against so we simply have to accept it.
Even if they blocked whispers in WvW it would still be possible to use 3rd party programs to communicate.
I hope everything is okay at ArenaNet.
Unforseen circumstances never sounds good..
Please provide accurate numbers about actual WvW population and not just server population and base transfers on that. I believe that would already go a long way.
But how would they actually do that?
What would be considered WvW-population?
Someone that logged in for 5 minutes one day?
Someone that is logging in daily but only does it for crafting?
I often hear people wanting stuff based on WvW-population, but I have never actually seen anyone come up with a good way to actually get an accurate number for WvW.
But it ISN’T instanced. That’s the whole point. You want stuff that changed the world that is not instanced. I pointed out several thing related to this update that changed the world and is not instanced.
Because if it is instanced, tech the world is not actually changing. I’d like to see changes to the actual landscape in the open world. Not in an instance where when you come out all looks the same again…
And all the things that I mentioned ARE in the open world.
Everything except the Tower can be seen right now.
And yet there were people having completed the meta just a few days after season 1 started, so I would say that they are just right. They are supposed to take around 7 weeks after all.
Do you even read the OP before mindlessly fanboying threads? He’s clearly asking when the topics chosen are going to be announced.
He did however say it in a rather hostile way, which implied that he wanted stuff fixed right now.
My post still holds merit though.
It will take time.
It is highly unlikely that they will just post a post that says: “These three things have been chosen”, but rather have a longer more informative post and thus it would take time to create such a post.
IF they had made a post that simply said “We have counted the amount of thingies and come up with this list [insert list here]” people would most likely have raged like mad that they didn’t even bother with a useful response to the lists and such.
Did you really think that it would be:
1: Post 3 things
2: The 3 most common ones get selected
3: It gets fixed within a week.
4: Repeat.
It takes time.
If we have heard nothing by the end of the league I could understand people starting to “worry”, but now? A change like that takes time and resources, it is not just flipping a switch.
Well the OP does have a point.
Some servers win only because of massive amount of people. But when you actually face them you can quite easily destroy groups several times bigger than your own.
That would however require completely rebuilding traits, profession abilities and armor-classes completely.
A Guardian with the same base health as a Warrior would be more or less impossible to kill after all.
If there even is a second part. Source please?
Well, there is Halloween every year. So part two could come next year (and I believe the live-stream about the History of Halloween basically said that they simply wanted to introduce him this year.
Taxes and stuff like that.
They most probably have a non-disclosure agreement, like everyone in the GW2 beta had.
They don’t.
But the actual tests have most likely not started yet.
Yeah true but it has a lot of sci-fi elements don’t you think? (Asura)
True, but the Asura stuff is mainly magic based.
It is a fantasy MMO.
Steampunk is a subgenre of fantasy after all.
Not to rain on anyone’s parade, but running massive public WvW tests in the middle of WvW Season 1 is kinda… So you select best of the best (well, there’s hoping. Most active for sure) and just steal chunk of their time they would spend on live WvW…
I dunno…
Hm?
Have the actual tests started then?
I was under the impression that they have only invited people, but not started any actual tests yet.
It is a matter of principle for some people.
If I don’t want people to look at my stats, people shouldn’t look at my stats.
If they really want to see what I have they can ask me and I can decide if I want to show them or not.
Simple as that.
There is already a problem with elitism in this game. And it will most likely increase tenfold should they implement a inspect option.
The reason many people don’t bother with it now is because it is an “annoying” process to check someones gear. But if it suddenly starts being as easy as a single click, way more people would probably do it.
You should still be able to upgrade it if you have the exotic piece yes.
If you don’t.
Then no, you won’t be able to get it.
Someone in full ascended with guard leech and applied fortitude will have a very large stats advantage over you if you meet him one on one. That’s the direction this game is going.
But then again, why would you meet him one on one?
The game is not built around one on one fights after a..
That’s the most backwards inconsiderate idea I’ve heard yet then.
This isn’t baseball…. Baseball has 3 outfielders and 5 infielders -VS- 3 outfielders and 5 infielders. …. not 3 outfielders and 5 infielders VS 10 outfield and 20 infield…
It is however still fully possible for every single server in the game (yes even Vabbi) to get full maps.
The fact that there is a map cap makes it possible for all servers to fight on “equal” terms.
No.
And based on the responses of all the others posts that have suggested this most people do NOT want this in GW2.
It will simply make it easier for the elitists to be elitist. The game wouldn’t really gain anything from it.
If you want to know someones gear, ask for it and allow them to decide if they want to show it or not.
Hm?
I am quite sure that bad reward vs no reward would still classify as improvements.
Sure they could probably be a bit more rewarding, but I am not too fussed. I don’t play WvW for the rewards.
You would still kill them and get kill credit though.
If it was only to avoid the stomp-bonus they could simply press alt+F4 and deny the point.
It is indeed a PvP game mode, but it has always been advertised as an unbalanced game mode.
That has always been said, since before release.
The fact that people don’t seem to accept that it is supposed to be unbalanced doesn’t mean that it being unbalanced is wrong.
There is however most likely a reason why they don’t give us exact numbers, and it is quite unlikely that they have lost that reason.
It can quite easily be abused.
If you know exactly how many people there is on a map and how many would be needed to start a queue, you could take a group of trolls and lock legit WvW-players out of WvW.
Sure this is still possible, but now they actually need to guess how many people they need.
With this suggestion they would be able to see exactly how many they would need, and thus could focus on that specific map.
It might sound silly, but it would quite likely happen. Trolls always tries to find ways to destroy stuff for real players.
It is account-bound until you equip/set stats.
So unless you have decided the stats you should be able to give it to an alt.
Last I knew, there was a third party program that made it impossible for you to even damage them while they were in downed state.
I use the wonderful downed state skill vengance, but it isn’t good for anything else.
Vengeance is not denying kills, unless you manage to defeat someone (and get lucky enough to rally from it).
In most cases you will still die if you use Vengance.
Hi Dina,
Here are some answers for you:
1. We don’t release this number but this answer can be derived from the answer to your second question. i.e. total players = map cap * 4
2. There is a per-map player limit but we don’t release this number either, though it’s possible to infer from observation. This is especially true now that culling is gone.
3. The per-map player limit is also per-team. Each team has an independent limit and players from one team cannot ever prevent players from the other teams from entering a map.
I’m sure that’s more cryptic than you’d like but that’s the information I can release.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/WWW-server-and-map-limits-Queue/first#post1718138
How would they deny kills without logging out?
If it is some kind of exploit I would suggest sending the details to ArenaNet.
That would however not work, since ArenaNet do not wish to post exact map-limits.
Yes, the achievement chests gained from doing achievements for Season 1 scale with the level of the character used when gaining them.
I agree. But this would also spill over to other facets of the game in a very beneficial way. Especially for the people switching mains. It would also be very profitable for ArenaNet.
It’s a Win/Win.
It would also create quite a bit of annoyance with people that bought multiple version of each tool to use on multiple characters.
Incorrect.
The skin you get from the Heroic version is one of the three skins available in the gem-store.
Nothing else.
I would personally suggest AGAINST using WoodenPotatoes as a source of lore. Sure he makes videos, but the vast majority of his videos is simply full of speculations and not based on actual lore, even if he makes it sounds like it is.
I don’t get why they would call it an, “Ever evolving, changing world!” If it will all be instanced….
How is a massive tower, a destroyed village and a cut down forest not changing the world?
You know that the live-stream was yesterday, right?
It is bugged.
During the first day of the season they released a hot-fix that stopped the other achievements from being locked behind Dawn of the Season-completion.
How would you know the maximum queue?
Are you assuming that every single one on the map always runs around in a big blob?
