I have yet to have to spend more than 5 minutes to find a group for my level (level 2 at the moment but join level 1 groups as well if there is one)

It is quite simply to just create your own group if you don’t like the restrictions.

1) Would defeat the whole purpose
2) It is very possible to do most if not all of the Parts with 4 players.

If you had read the event-information in-game it would have showed you quite clearly where the action was going on (First defend, second talk to NPCs and they give you information about what to do and so on)

Yes you have to grind if you want SPECIAL OPTIONAL items.

You don’t need to grind in order to do dungeons
You don’t need to grind in order to do events
You don’t need to grind in order to do PvP

I believe the Charr-dungeon is actually taking place a few minutes before the Foefire. Dessas reaction after killing the boss does imply that it is about to happen.

As for the Raving Asura I think that might be the “future self” from the Asura Personal Quest (the one responsible for the Steam Creatures)

The group dissolves when the leader leaves the group. This is a feature, not a bug.

The fact that you can’t change leadership is more about wanting a thing implemented than an actual bug.

Days? are you assuming there’s like hundreds of levels? considering they said each fractal is a “mini dungeon” i doubt your point very much so.

There are 9 different dungeons.
You do three at a time.
Each one takes around 30 minutes.

That would mean doing a set would mean about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Do that three times to possible (it is random) get all 9 different dungeons and you will have 4 hours and 30 minutes.

The dungeon also gets harder the farther down you go, which means you probably have to loop all the dungeons rather many times to get to the more challenging contents, which could easily mean 12+ hours of constant play.

Well the first two points are not even bugs, so not really anything to fix.

And seeing as they have said several times that there will be a huge amount of bug-fixes and such in todays update I would say wait and see.

Also keep in mind that there are different teams working on bugs and working on new content.

Can you play any dungeon at all in the game without leveling or getting more than starter gear?

Which would mean people would have to spend whole days with the same party to progress to the deeper levels of the dungeon.

What is said in the blog post is:
“The dungeon will remember your progress, and will poll the party’s levels when you enter, scaling the dungeon to the highest common attained level.”

Which makes it quite clear that the progress is not saved per party but rather per player.

Stop joining zergs and you will see that the difficulty of most events are rather high.

As far as I have understood it EVERYTHING that is not part of the three events (Defend Lions Arch – Retake Lions Arch – Finale) this weekend will stay.

So the new map will stay. The new dungeon will stay. The Ascended gear will stay.

Hehe, I am very interested to see what that actually is. At first I thought it was simply a statue, but it does rather clearly move so it is “alive”

It this case she clearly states that it was several gold she had gotten via mail.

How man servers are there in the game?

It wouldn’t need that many people.

Bots != gold sellers.

Bots ARE examined by real people before bans.
The gold-selling filter however probably works around the amount of gold mailed or gotten via mail during a short amount of time.

Er, when they say “level”, they mean “what level is your character”, not “what level of the dungeon have you gotten to”, I’m relatively certain.

When they say “We’ll scale to the highest obtained level”, it’s saying “how much are we down-leveling the higher-level people”, not…

…There’s no dungeon that saves your progress after you leave, as far as I know. Maybe I read it wrong, but there’s no reason to think you don’t start on Dungeon Level 1 every time you start, though the dungeon /difficulty/ might get scaled differently depending on who’s in your party.

That said, I rather wonder if it’d be feasible to have 4 80’s and 1 level 1, just to forcibly down-level the dungeon and try for an easier dungeon run…

That does sound very illogical. Seeing as they have stated that the dungeon is lvl 80 but with upscaling.

The post rather clearly states that it DOES save your progress every time you enter the hub (after 3 parts).

The server most likely won’t go down for patching at all. We probably only have to restart the client to download the patch.

As for the time, there is no info. It will be here when it will be here.

I read it as: The highest level everyone has reached.

This is a bit worry some? What if one of my guild mates is very active and got incredibly deep with some party, in regions where without infused gear you die nearly instantly… I wouldn’t be able to party with this person if I don’t have the proper gear.
Although I defended in another thread that it isn’t gated content, it somehow ventures dangerously close to it.

And after that, if in some miraculous way we beat the dungeon, then my dungeon level will also be that incredibly deep dungeon level?

The scaling works the other way.

It scales to the level of the person with least progress as far as I can tell.

I love how people always over-react to things before we have ANY kind of information.

For all we know the “slightly better stats” means an increase of 5 points. Guess what?
Those 5 points won’t make the player immortal.

And for all we know this set is specific for the dungeon, meaning we can ONLY use it in the dungeons.

Stop whining until we actually know what is going on.

I’m going to go ahead and point out that on Friday and Sunday at 12pm PST you’re not running events on the games highest concurrency. Saturday I can very well see your reasoning for the event. However, the other two days (Especially Friday) are very poor choices.

And if you actually read the announcement it is quite clear that the one time event does not happen on Friday or Saturday, it is happening on Sunday.

Well not solo every quest because some of them you are given NPC teammates, in GW1 you could solo every mission with hero’s…

Heroes were not added until Nightfall. And even so you could only use three of them until years later.

Nirvash!!! I was with you on that dungeon run (Alfred stormpaws.). I agree it was incredibly frustrating. I understand those who like the challenge and I think that’s great, but I agree with nirvash that a level 35 dungeon doesn’t really need to be this difficult and frankly obnoxious. Why can’t we have difficulty levels? Also, in my opinion having mobs with unnecessarily high hit points isn’t fun anyway…..don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love this game. There are just areas where it seems to fall on its face a bit. If anet fixes these areas the game will be a masterpiece.

Exactly. There is ONE area in the whole game that have any kind of challenge and that is Explorable (Hard mode) Dungeons. Everything else in the game is quite easy. Why not let us have at least something a bit diffcult?

No. It does not punish “real players” it punish farmers.
And ArenaNet simply don’t want people to spend all their time farming the same event/mob/area over and over and over and over and over again.

They have a DR system in GW1 and have had that for several years. It is not going away anytime soon.

I always understood the WvW fights as more or less training for the challenges the races of Tyria faces now and in the future.

But the thing is: We have no idea about the limitations of their servers. We have no idea about the limitations of their code.

Seeing as they have not done it they way you describes most likely means that they CAN’T have different versions of the world on different servers.

This event leads up to a new area being permanently opened, it might not be possible for the game to have it one server with the area opened and another having it closed.

This is a fair and valid point, and i’m one of the lucky ones who lives in Europe. I’d suggest having 2 time-slots for the event that covers the two separate ‘zones’ and not worry about Youtube or anything else cheesing the users’ experience. It’s up to the user if they want to have the event spoiled by a video.

Theoretically if you have 2 events, one at the current time, and another that is far nicer to the other less fortunate (time-wise) folks, there won’t be much overlap as they are roughly 12 hours apart anyway.

Keep in mind however that even if we are one of the “lucky ones who lives in Europe” we most likely won’t be able to complete the whole event chain (if we have work) seeing as the first part starts at around 21:00 in the evening and is going on for “several hours”.

As for the suggestion at hand I am not sure if that is even possible in the game. As far as we know they can’t have two different version of the world map at the same time.

You do know that AC is a lvl 30 dungeon right? That means people that are doing it aren’t really lvl 80’s. They can’t understand their whole class if they aren’t lvl 80 yet. I agree that if you have an ideal team.. dungeons are a piece of cake, but srs the dungeons aren’t meant for a casual team, but rather an elite group of players. THIS IS A LVL 30 DUNGEON.

Explorable is lvl 35.

Keep in mind that Dungeons are more or less the ONLY thing that is remotely hard in GW2. They need understanding of the game and your profession.

If you don’t have that you will have to learn.

I did all dungeons “on-level” with my first character. Sure, they were hard and a bit annoying, but it is still very possible to complete them as long as you actually pay attention to the fights.

True. But it is most likely the closest they will ever be able to get at a specific time.
No matter what they do people will miss out, so they simply decide to do the event when the most amount of won’t.

Chest will give you your level specific loot. Mobs will give you loot that is of their level. as an exp…go to AC as 80. Mobs give you 30-35 gear chest will give you 78-80.

Indeed. I am not talking about dungeons though, but about open world chests (from jumping puzzles and mini-dungeons. They tend to give area-level items.

Chests are giving area leveled loot I believe.
Drops from mobs tend to give more on-level item but might drop area-level items as well.

The actual one-time event is actually on Sunday at noon however. The others are just pre-events.

Why blame ArenaNet for the fact that your group simply was not good enough form the Dungeon?

The Dungeons need understanding and knowledge of the game and your class. If you lack those they will be extremely hard. But when you learn that, they will become a cake-walk.

Problem with that is that in that case is that more or less every single European will miss most of the events, seeing as they already start quite late.

No. What most people are suggesting is that ANet move to a system closer to what they used in GW1, either a repeatable event that occurs every 3 hours for a 24 hour period, or perhaps an “instant-replay” NPC where you can talk to an NPC (with your party) and be taken to an instance where you can play out what happened earlier.

It would only work if instanced.

The main problem with that system is the fact that it would require massive amount of extra work. And it might not even be possible to do with the current code.

And by the sound of it I would think that these events actually need rather many people. So even if people could replay it they might not be able to do it anyway.

So, some people simply want them to do event that the vast majority of players will miss, just so a small minority will be able to compete in it?

I might have missed something but I thought it was better for a company to cater to the majority and the the vocal minority?

The thing is that you don’t NEED the items from the dungeons. You just WANT them. Seeing as they are more or less only cosmetic.

People want something to work for. Simple as that.
