Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
What? no I don’t.
my point is that with the current reset time, someone at Anet is already working extra hours Friday evening. Two extra hours at the end of the day on Friday is the same cost as two extra hours Saturday afternoon.
Not it most likely isnt.
Since they are already there on Friday, but they would need to start working an extra day in order to be there on Saturday.
Tournaments are supposed to be for organized teams or at least good players. Not a complete newbie that have never tried sPvP before.
Overtime/on-call on Saturday afternoon costs the same as overtime/on-call on Friday evening.
Possibly true (I don’t know the laws and such in the US, it is not the case here however)
You do however assume that they work on Saturdays in the first place, which is somewhat unlikely. Which would mean that they would need to pay for an extra (and, at least in Sweden, more expensive) day just to have people there at the reset.
(1) If they can’t manage to make this an automated process, that is their problem. It should be a repeatable task that doesn’t require any human interaction unless something goes wrong. It happens each and every week the same exact way.
Exactly.
Which means they will always have people ready to fix it if something goes wrong, and therefore a Saturday would be quite expensive for ArenaNet, since they would need a team ready to fix the problem ASAP.
The difference is in being able to play or not that evening due to queue times. On many servers, if you aren’t online at reset, you aren’t playing that evening.
And currently in Europe most players would not be able to play at all at reset, since it was in the middle of the night and most of us actually sleeps.
So EU gets a better time but US west coast gets screwed. Please tell me how this is in any way a “fix” when it breaks as much as it helps.
So screwing over EU since release is completely okay, but as soon as the US is effected it is a no go?
Many have mentioned this already, but this is going to be terribly inconvenient for the majority of NA players. This moves reset to a time that is still awkward at best for a lot of EU and impossible for any NA players who have work/school or other real life commitments.
So being inconvenient for a “majority of NA players” is worse then it being inconvenient for the EU side since release?
Save you hundreds of gold!?! You must buy an enormous amount of gathering tools! How many do you buy in a given week?
If you buy 10 a week (wow, that’s a lot of mining), it’s going to take an entire year of play to break even. After two years (!) you will have saved 20 gold. It’ll take you 11 years to save hundreds (200) of gold, and that’s if you do spend so much time mining that you actually go through 10 picks a week.
Really, how many do you use in the average week?
You are forgetting the fact that you would need to WP in order to buy said picks aswell.
I would like to see the poll that Anet conducted to their end users on how pleased they would be with said implemented change.
Well, people will never be pleased, no matter what they do.
lol, this is yet another example of anet failing to respond to what players want. The EU want a reset time that is reasonable so that they may participate which is completely understandable. So why would you move the NA start time earlier when its only the EU that needs a time fix? I get off work at 5 est, I get to sit in traffic till say 5:30-5:45 and then I have to cook dinner. How on earth will anyone with some sort of a normal life ever be able to make a 6pm est reset time, not to mention the guys on the west coast get screwed even more. The queues alone on reset night are already bad, so I guess any chance of getting in on reset night is all but gone at this point thanks anet!
It seems quite clear that they CAN’T have different reset times on different servers as of this time.
I bet most of you EU ppl have nothing to do saturday morning, so yeah, I imagine it was boring to wait till 2am for reset but you were able to play during reset. Now in America we WON’T be able to play, period. The reset will hit us during working time or school time or university time or whatever, but we WON’T be able to play.
Not everyone works standard weeks. There are quite common for people to work on saturdays, at least here in Sweden.
Alright. So EU have been the “victim” in this situation for 8 months. And it was alright. But now that the US get somewhat effected by it, it is the worst thing that could happen more or less? Seriously?
Now my math might be off but I am quite sure that the new time will not be in the middle of the night in the US (which have been the case for EU since release)
ArenaNet really should take down that Manifesto video from everywhere, since apparently people have a rather major issue with understanding the point of a manifesto and will forever bring up said manifesto when something they don’t like turn up in the game.
This has been the case with every single update since release.
People point to the manifesto and how ArenaNet lied in said manifesto because they added something they didn’t liked.
Actually it is the BLTC that offers the unbreakable picks Even though they are molten origin
The combination of Dredge tech and Flame Legion magic can most likely create surprising results, which the BLTC do not have.
Also compared to MMO’s like WoW the community is extremely young in this game.
Really?
The vast majority of players have have met in-game have been 25+, whilst in WoW the most common age seems to be something like 15-20.
On custom servers you will be able to set password and stuff like that, so people cannot join “out of nowhere”.
The arena have been there since release though, so they might not be actively working on it.
There already are a Polymock Arena in Rata Sum, so it is quiet likely being worked on.
They are also releasing custom servers for sPvP soonish, which would most likely make it quite possible to duel.
I didnt insult anyone. I say denial because you have 2 days of fun and a lifetime of boredom. Is that a good MMORPG game to you? An MMO is a long term game.
That is of course very personal.
I for one have played the game more or less every single day since release (a few days off now and then, but never longer than a weeks downtime) and I still find the game fun. So clearly the “2 days of fun” is completely personal opinion.
Take the Asura Gate from your any capital you have unlocked. Go to Lions Arch, then take the Asura Gate to Divinitys Reach, and just walk out the entrance and you are there.
And, specifically what GW1 was able to do in the past and the premise of GW2 when they said it was a game for people who don’t like MMO’s.
GW2 is just another themepark MMO. Sure, it has better graphics, but it is just another themepark MMO like WoW. It isn’t different or groundbreaking or genre changing. Everything GW2 has done has been implemented in some way in another MMO previously.
And everything WoW have done has been implemented in some way in another MMO previously aswell, and yet people are still calling it groundbreaking and it is still going strong.
I would argue there are quite a few things that are new in GW2.
Level scaling for one.
Complete lack of standard quests.
B2P
Weapon-based skills
No warning?
I am quite certain we had a rather big notice up on this very forum about a maintenance coming (and twitter for that matter)
Because EU-players play more? ^^
In the case of GW2, the manifesto was also used as a marketing tool. One which, in many people’s eyes, they did not live up to nor even tried.
That is why many people get the feeling they were lied to.
And yet anyone that actually read up a bit on the game before buying it (instead of simply watching a video of a VISION made several years earlier) they would have know fully well that there would be grind to get “cool stuff” in the game.
So they really don’t have anyone to blame but themselves, but then again, blaming ArenaNet for everything (I am surprised no one have blamed them for yesterdays bombing..) seems to be the cool thing to do on these forums.
I am fully aware of that, since for some reason people always bring up the Manifest when they don’t like something. Funnily enough people seems to missunderstand what a manifest actually is. A manifest is not an universal truth, it is not something that is set in stone. But rather a vision of a product.
Even so what they actually say can be understood in several ways. And one of those ways is that they are talking about mandatory grind. They have also made quite a few bits of posts and interviews after this video (and before release) where they made it quite clear that grind would exist in the game, but would not be needed to stay on top.
I am not discussion the definition of grind. I am simply disagreeing with you on the part that ArenaNet have “ignored their no grind talk”.
But then again these super box rewards are purely cosmetic, so it is clearly not something you need, but rather something you want. If you want to look “cool” you have to work for it. That is what ArenaNet have been saying more or less since they announced GW2.
I read this and was like … wait … i didn’t write this.
This is basically how I would describe my feeling about this game aswell.
*Guild wars 1 was different to every other mmo out there. *
Now I want to steer clear from the WoW comparisons but it seems Anets loyalty was more to the WoW player base. I think WoW influenced Gw2 direction more than what Gw1 did.
Of course it was, since it was not a MMO at all.
GW1 was a CORPG, not a MMO.
So true.
This super box content added to the game… pure grind.
I’m sorry, but I don’t want to grind the same content 100 times to get a unique item that is offered with the additional content.
So what happened to the “no grind” gameplay… seems more like they are ‘encouraging’ grind play.
So essentially I am being told that if i want to reap the rewards from additional content… I must grind the content to no end.
They did repeatedly state both before and after release that there would be grind in the game. They only thing they have actually said was no MANDATORY grind.
All grind currently in game is very much optional and rewards you will special-looking stuff, therefore the no grind talk is still very much valid.
Arenanet Please stop ruining your game. It’s not like it didn’t already cost us all 60$ to buy it. You might as well charge a effing subscription fee.
Oh why?
Do they somehow force you to get these new items in the store?
Can’t you complete they F&F storyline without buying them?
I must have missed that personal story (did level a Norn quite recently) but as far as I am aware the personal story takes place outside of the open world and therefore should not be effected in anyway by these open-world spawns?
Oh yes, it would have been so less living and dynamic, so much less, had the added content not been placed to grief level 4s. Without that, the entire meaning of the story would be lost, and become nothing. Without this periscope, placed EXACTLY where it is, the story would have lost all meaning. Totally. Everything hinges on this particular scope rolling newbies around.
/facepalm
Good job completely missing the point.
The areas in question are invaded by enemy forces. Wouldn’t it be quite logical for said enemy forces to do as much as possible to disturb everyday life in said areas?
But then again I suppose we could have moved all those periscopes to Orr or something like that, since that wouldn’t “grief level 4” players.
So.. how living and meaningful would the Flame & Frost storyline be if it did not, in anyway or form, effect anything?
More than I would like to admin I believe ^^
And yet they would earn less from it most likely.
I for one have personally bought two of them already, and have heard of people buying one for each of their alts.
why shouldn’t players who work towards something be rewarded?
Like I said, I’m not talking about a large difference, but players who spend more time in dungeons etc. already have access to better gear, so why shouldn’t there be another tier?
They are rewarded. With unique looking stuff.
No they aren’t. You can get access to the exact same tier of gear without doing dungeons.
Most likely until the end of Flame and Frost storyline.
I agree with this – if people are going to spend hundreds of hours attaining a weapon, I think it should be at least a little bit better than an exotic weapon you can get from a random drop.
I’m not talking way better – but why should we not be rewarded for our dedicating to attaining a “legendary” weapon?
If the stats aren’t better – you should just rename them “aesthetically pleasing” weapons.
So, people that have loads of real money or loads of time should simply be stronger than everyone else without them having no way of catching up?
If that is your way of thinking I don’t really think GW2 is the game for you.
We have access to swiftness outside of weapon skills.
Use them.
Well it does say “Used to mine all metals” on the actual item (not in the store though, for some reason) so it is quite likely that it will be able to mine higher tiers should they be released.
They have stated that they are planning a possible hunt in the future but it is not currently actively being developed. Or at least that was the last thing we heard (a few months ago)
While I agree that bullying should not be accepted it is more or less completely impossible to avoid it completely.
The only way to actually do that would be to remove the ability to chat to people in the game and that would never work.
The thing you can do however is blocking them.
It is about the exchange taxes, but if they make a option to pay in USD and with paypal that shouldn’t be a problem would it?
It isn’t “real” money just virtual ones.
You can pay with paypal, and it is the same thing.
There will always be taxes on items, even if they are only in a game. That is simply how stuff works.
Yeah, I’m sure there will be an “orichalcum+1” level node and considering they’ve made the effort to state it has the same efficiency as an Orichalcum Mining Pick this isn’t a long term mining solution investment. This is a looks cool item, still I might buy one.
Actually the item itself says: “Used to mine all metals” so it is quite unlikely that it will be unusable on a possible future higher tier metal.
Ok thanks for the links, I will read them through right away.
But I use paypal so it goes from my account to their account and there isn’t any shipment involved because the gems end up on my account on their servers
Gonna read what they have to say now :-)
It has nothing to do with shipment.
You can buy it unlimited amount of times.
So it is not the same then?
You still have to run back there every time it runs out of charges?
So it is actually not even remotely the same?
Spending 18-22 gold for the same item you can get for free with 350 Karma.
Yeah, i think i’ll pass.
You can get an unlimited pickaxe that works on every ore for free with 350 karma?
So gear would just changed too. If You have Charr and change race to Human so your cultural armore will change to human too. This work already in other games. And sure it is not so hard to make :-)
The problem is that you have achievements tied to the Cultural pieces, so simply changing it with a race change would screw up that system.
Why would there be a charge for transferring virtual things over the net?
Because different countries have different laws when it comes to handling goods or currency?
Rarity or not, buying it is playing unknown odds. The only saving grace over the nightmare that is the chests and the fused skins is that you can actually sell it on the TP.
Haven’t this however always been the case with the dyes? Since release the dyes you got from the packs bought in the store have been completely random.
They are outragous rare. Wont spend a cent on these unless they are 100% buy. I would pay 800 gems for a set of all new colors and not one more.
Not really no.
I bought five(5) dyes and got the 2 of the new colors, so clearly they aren’t as rare as you seem to believe.
