Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Exactly, so it wouldn’t make sense to have this one server at a time since there isn’t anything happening now in the game that is one server at a time. The idea would be to have a system where players could control the boss, not an employee.
That was however not what the original poster talked about, and that was the post I answered. The original poster have only ever talked about a employee controlled character that runs around. And that is what I am basing my answers on. Nothing else.
Who says it has to happen at one server at a time? Designers make the game how they see fit based on feedback from sources. I don’t see why it would have to be done one server at a time. Do the events now happen one server at a time? Is there anything in the game that happens one server at a time?
Because if it are to happen at more than one server at a time they will need one employee for each server, since they need to control them. You can’t control something on several servers at once, since all servers are unique and the amount of players/their tactics and so on will differ.
As for events happening at one server at a time that is actually already happening. All servers have independent “timers” for the big meta events and such.
A rather major problem with this would however be the rather high amount of servers.
Since this can only happen at one server at a time and most likely take quite some time to complete it would likely take weeks for all servers to see it, and that is if they do it on a daily basis.
It would most likely also require hiring more people, since it would be a waste to put a developer or an art designer on a job like that. That wouldn’t be much of a problem with a subscription based game, GW2 however is not, so they don’t have that constant amount of money coming in.
It is quite likely that the Karka turned up again because of the Deep Sea Dragon, so that would tie into the Elder Dragon story.
We do not know the reason for the Molten Alliance, so it is also possible that it might have something to do with the Dragons.
As for Southsun Cove it is already quite clear (from the F&F story line) that we will see new camps/cities over there rather soon, with all the refugees.
Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that not every single release must have something to do with a specific storyline. Out in the real world things don’t really work like that after all. Things happens that have nothing to do with each other all the time.
Anet doesn’t want us to play fractals.
Or maybe they don’t want stuff unobtainable in Fractals to give specific Fractal bonuses?
Yeah, that whole no army thing went really well when Jormag rose. I am sure all the Norn that survived that would agree with you, the Norn don’t need help from anyone and can do everything.
Might I suggest you read up a bit on Norn history? Specifically the parts about them being totally owned by Jormag and his minions. ( both before GW2 and during GW1 or Primordus minions for that matter.)
And loads of new information
First of all: Don’t talk for everyone.
Secondly: Most likely until the end of Flame and Frost at least, we do not know anything more detailed than that.
No, you can get the laurels by doing EITHER the PvP OR the PvE achivements. Not both.

2.56 Million Copies sold
(Remember, this is copies sold, Not Subscribers)
http://www.vgchartz.com/game/37350/guild-wars-2/
Hmm yes
I would not trust those sources, since GW2 have sold over 3 million copies and that was quite some time ago.
The number show there were closer to the number of copies sold BEFORE release.
Those same 5 people could go solo a cap slightly slower then those 5 people who just spent all their points on useless Guard Damage tiers..Hell…There is a good chance that those 5 people might actually solo faster then the people with Guard Damage tiers depending on their specs and gear.
unless you magically think that not having those passives is showhow keeping players from soloing camps right now (I’ve not seen a single spec that can’t mow through a Supply camp so far)
Not all people/professions can simply run in and solo a camp within a minute without help.
Especially not if it is upgraded and defended by mercenaries. The reduction and increase in damage could make quite a bit of different and make it possible though.
No. Just the same species would be nice.
So a human with lets say big ears is not the same species as a human with small ears?
What I’d like to know is where’s the info of the new stat and skin sets for badges? I would have liked the blog post to tell me where our WvW ascended stuff is.
There won’t be any Ascended gear in the barter store for now.
The fact that you think those abilities you listed will let you take 5 Supply camps at the same time is rather laughable.
Let me clear this up, I can solo a supply camp in almost a Minute on my Ranger…SOLO
Unless those abilities let you flat out instant kill and instant cap the camp…There is no way your group will ever take 5 supply camps in the time it takes a group to take 1 supply camp.
You completely missed the point.
My point was that if those five people used these upgrades to make possible for each of them to solo-cap a camp, they would do a much better and more productive job than the same five people just capping one camp in that time.
if you can’t blow through a camp already incredibly fast with a small group, I don’t know what to tell you?
The only thing that keeps people from killing a camp right now, is that little Flame Buff that Camp Leader gets after the camps been taken recently.
If you buy those first 3 abilities, You’re only gimping yourself.
So how is a small group (lets say 5) taking a supply camp better than 5 people taking 5 supply camps at the same time?
Why would anyone even bother with doing Tier 3 if you could get the same reward for doing the easier Tier 1 version?
Because you can only get rewards for one per tier each week?
In order to maximize your merit gain per week you need to first complete a tier 1 and then do a tier 2 OR simply doing a tier 3.
These training missions sounds like they are possible to complete and gain credit for several times each week though.
Do people really want every single character of every single race to look exactly the same?
I have yet to find a single race in real life where every single specimen looks identical, there is after all always specimen that do not “fit in”.
…So how is the a ‘good thing’ for small guilds? We are still gated from the content unless we join the large guild mobs. Many of us do not want to play that way. Again, this is back to the “play it our way” or don’t play.
It is a good thing because it helps smaller guilds to get influence faster in order to unlock the real mission?
Why would anyone even bother with doing the real missions if you could get the same reward for doing the easy mode version?
What a minute, don’t guilds need the Merits in order to ‘unlock’ the other missions-like the puzzles and races? I was always confused about that part…
If you do, that means small guilds will not be able to unlock them, since Merits are not included in the reward.
“Instead of Guild Merits, 3000 Guild Influence will be rewarded”
The point of the training bounties is to help smaller guilds get the influence in order to research and start the real bounties which award merits.
Given camps can be soloed already why would one need to take guard and mercenary abilities?
That does of course depend on the profession played and the level of defense at the camp in question.
You forgot that merits have a weekly cap, and they are unlocked in order (not by choice).
No, I didn’t forget that.
You could however unlock the second type a week after the update, and a week after that you should be able to get the third one. After that it goes quite fast, since you get merits for each of the mission types, independent of each other.
Have you seen what the WvW abilities are? Its not the same thing at all. They are all passive abilities that don’t really inspire one to build characters in different ways.
Actually it does.
A camp raider will most likely not focus as much at siege, so he would probably build more for the mercenary and guard abilities. While one that focus primarily on taking towers and keeps would want to focus on Supply Capacity and Siege Damage/Defense.
Instead of Guild Merits, 3000 Guild Influence will be rewarded
In my opinion I would rather have the Merits then the influence. Also it’s still disheartening to see that Guild Puzzles are still a long while from being unlocked. It begs the question why were they added to the game, if it takes a couple of months to unlock anyways?
It don’t.
Unless I miscalculated it is very possible for a guild to have every single Guild Mission unlocked by now.
Do training missions award commendations, 2 rares, and 50 silver? That’s what I want to know.
Probably/hopefully not. At least when it comes to the rares and silver.
If they do there wouldn’t really be much of a reason to do higher tier bounties unless you wanted to unlock other missions.
Can someone link me where a dev says world xp is based on how long ennemy lived?
I cznt find it and it Sounds good
In the very blogpost linked in the first post.
The amount of WXP you receive from defeating another player is directly related to how long the victim has been alive. Players who have recently been killed are potentially worth no points, while a player that has survived for a longer period of time is worth more.
Yes, I would want different abilities on different characters, but dont make the titles and points soul bound on acquire. Let me play WvW with any toon and spend them on any toon.
Why?
I don’t get Skill Points on my Warrior when I play on my Mesmer.
The system is added for character progression, not account progression (the rank/title is most likely account bound though)
No, I would prefer that while you play in WvW, all characters have the same rank and just make the points account bound. So no matter what toon I’m on, all the points are stored so any other toon can use them.
Based on the picture we have seen however it is not possible to refund spent points. Which would bring forth the issue I stated in my post.
Unless you can get max rank in all abilities you would most likely want to have different abilities on different characters.
Would you rather have all your characters locked into the same advancement?
Not all characters are used for the same things after all, so they will most likely be upgraded in different ways.
For people talking about SoS instead of Dredge:
Why would they work together with the Flame Legion in the first place?
Molten Alliance is however quite fitting in this case.
After all both the Dredge and the Flame Legion does work quite a bit with lava and such.
Yes. If the leader leaves the group the group dissolves.
Of course.
I am simply using the same logic as you do.
“He made it so he have unlimited power and should never lose it”.
A guild is completely worthless without its members. The members are just as much if not more part of the guild than the actual creater and/or leader.
So, all those upgrades made with influence that the MEMBERS have gained (or even payed for in some cases) does not matter in anyway what so ever?
Because it is his guild?
Lets say ArenaNet decides to remove all of your armor and weapons. Would just still say that its cool because it is their game?
I’m not saying that at all. When did I say that? I’m simply saying it’s not up to you to decide how anybody runs their own guild. And if that’s an issue and if you are worried about that in your guild then it’s probably a good time to find a new one or make your own.
Don’t put words in my mouth. Thanks.
But it is exactly what you are saying.
You are saying we should not have a system where someone that has left the game gets removed from a position after a certain time of inactivity. Which would make the situation I showed very possible.
It did happen in Lord of the Rings Online for me.
Was in one of the oldest and most recognized kins on the server. And suddenly the leader (and his second) stops logging in at all.
At that time we had ONE officer that was active. And it took quite some time (I believe 3 months) for the game to change the leader to the second leader (and then 1 more month (she stopped playing after him) for her to lose it and give it to the Officer.
During that time we were very limited about what we could do, seeing as that one officer could not be online at all times and we could not promote more since we did not have a leader.
That means we where crippled for 4 MONTHS and thanks to this system we finally managed to get the kin “back”.
With the system you talk about we would NEVER have gotten the kin back.
“Remake the guild with the active people and go about your lives.”
So it would be worse for someone that has left the game to lose their position as a leader of a guild than it would be for a whole guild to rebuild all the reputation and recognition in a new guild?
Whole guild > Guild leader.
But the problem is when a Guild leader in a highly successful guild (with all upgrades and so on, and very respected by the games community, decides to stop playing all of a sudden.
And if is decides to not step down we would have this highly successful guild that people most likely would not want to leave that can’t do anything at all, even if the leader is offline for several months.
There need to be a fail-safe in situations like that.
Because you don’t have those 317g.
Yep. The look is gained from the name selected.
This can be very much abused.
What if a group of friends infiltrate one of the top-guilds and then decide to hijack it by demoting the leader and putting their own there?
A voting system should never be implemented for decisions like this.
What I can however see as a good idea is the demotion of a leader that has not been online for a certain amount of time (such as 1 week or something like that, as a default)
You don’t have to delete your characters at all. You transfer your whole account to the new server, including all characters.
The restriction is still in effect, that MIGHT however change when they stop allowing free transfers.
Dev has said skipping mobs is not against how dungeons are intended to be done nor exploits.
So they simply added all the mobs there just for fun I take it?
What the OP clearly want is a group that does not skip mobs. Simple as that.
Skipping mobs isn’t exploiting.
But isn’t playing as intended either.
The OP never said it was exploiting.
So, you don’t like cliffs and you don’t want invisible walls?
You do know that the game can’t be unlimited in size, right?
They NEED to have ways to “end” the map.
I have yet to encounter a single invisible wall for that matter.
Aaaaaaaaaw
Quaggan are awesome.
And how do we know that?
They did state that they would use the same system as the Rare Material Traders in GW1, and those sure could run out of items, if too many people bought but not enough sold.
Until we got a clear statement from ArenaNet that they are buying and selling gems via the Transfer I would suggest not assume they do.
Actually spelling wise it can go ether way though most people spell it with just a U… stop trying to be pretentious… and acting like your smarter then everyone.
The actual name of the campaign was however Utopia.
Eternal Battleground (WvW)
Or any of the starter areas really. There are enough in all of them as far as I know.
I love the fact that people seems to think that they don’t test their stuff.
Of course they do. But there will ALWAYS be issues with things, no matter how much you have tested them. And it is impossible to do a test that is identical to the live environment without actually doing it on the live environment.
And those +5 stats are less than 1% increase to a level 80 character. The stats on Infusions are extremely minor.
You gain skill points everytime you “level-up” after reaching level 80.
Those can be used to buy different stuff needed for Mystic Forge Recipes and Legendary Weapons.
