It is possible that we might get a ticket, I won’t assume we will though, and if we do, they won’t tell us until the event is over. If they did, and you will indeed get a free ticket for completing the storyline, they would lose quite a bit of money.

He appealed but was rejected and thus his account stayed banned. So yeah, it seems we do have to worry about getting banned for things we didn’t know were wrong.

That sounds extremely unlikely.
Especially since there are people that have sent close to 100g between accounts and haven’t got banned and those that have had been unbanned after contacting support.

Since you can’t blink through it the whole way (as far as I know) it would not be an exploit, since you are still risking getting hit by the first boulder or so.

A spy is NOT “actively participating in matches in good faith” and is most definitely “disrupting other people’s game experience”. A scout, on the other hand, is doing exactly what a scout should be doing, which is following and reporting on enemy activity to HELP THEIR TEAM. A spy is someone who is on your team that is using chat, etc. to report what’s going on FOR THE OTHER TEAM. You don’t know who they are, you can’t kill them…….this is plainly NOT “actively participating in matches in good faith”.

If Anet ever decides to enforce these rules, all of you who spy are going to be in for a rude awakening…..

That does of course depend on how the spy works.
It is quite possible for a spy to actively participating in the match without disrupting people’s game experience. A good spy actually would make sure to do just that, since some commanders, at least on my server, uses the /say channel to talk about plans and spies that simply sits around in spawn would miss this information.

A good spy does after all work for both sides, directly by helping server X with fighting and indirectly by helping server Y (the spies homeserver) with intel.

Another thing to think about is HOW would it in anyway be possible for ArenaNet to decide who is a spy and who is not?
Unless they are stupid enough to use the ingame chats to give information getting proofs is completely impossible.

An exploit is if EVERYONE IN THE PARTY WITHOUT USE OF SKILLS can skip stuff that is not designed to be skipable.

It is a rather big difference between someone doing the hard stuff and then putting up a teleport compared to no one doing the hard stuff at all.

I am not sure but I am quite certain that at least one player (the mesmer) needs to actually do the content, in order for the rest to use the portal. So clearly people are not skipping the content but rather using an available skill the way it was designed.

If they did on the other hand jump over a wall or something and therefore allowed everyone to skip said content it would be an exploit.

That I fully agree with. Saboteurs is a completely different thing for spies though, and I would never argue that sabotage should be allowed.

There are ways to counter them.
A rather good way is to not shout out in map-chat where you are going with your zerg for one (many leaders tends to use the /say channel for that.)

Sure the spy can still see the tag, but it is quite easy to confuse them by running back and forth a bit and taking weird ways to the goal, and a scout can still get the very same information by simply following the zerg.

No I am not a spy. I am however fully aware that it is a very valid tactic and I accept that it will be used both by my and the enemies sides.
WvW is supposed to be a war after all, in wars there are spies.

Going by the logic that spying should be bannable would also require scouting to be bannable since they are doing more or less the same thing, but without having access to the chat and following the zerg instead of reading where it is.

I believe you are misunderstanding what match manipulation actually is.
Match manipulation is when one side is actively giving up in order to help the other side advance.
Having spies does not do this.

There have only ever been one (or well 3 parts) event that was one-time and that was the Karka invasion.

All parts of Flame & Frost is still fully possible to play, even those released back when the first part went live.

It is however somewhat likely that the earlier parts will get removed some time after the final has been released.

That is however referring specifically to PvP, not WvW. And even if it were, it is in not way “match manipulation” since they do not actively make sure one server win.

Doing something that gives you an unfair advantage or enable you to skip stuff, is quite clearly exploits, and it is also things like these that people have been banned for.

1- Person A puts up the item to trade in the window – press accept
2- Person B puts in the gold/item they will trade for it – press accept

The reason I don’t see Anet ever using the trade system is because gold selling would be even easier for those doing so. Anet would have to track all private trades and that would take a lot of resources.

They had that system in GW1 and yet the forums were full of people getting scammed.
Every trade system that consists of direct Player to Player trading WILL have the ability to scam people.

You get it when you buy them I have 3 characters with full T3 armors, each individual piece counts. When you buy 6 pieces of a T3, T2, T1 randomly if you so wish u get the first achievement for that race.

In that case it might be quite simply to solve the achievement problem, since you don’t get it for having them, but rather buying the last piece.

Think outside the box. Those achievements would be locked out if you had a Cultural armor and then switched race you would NOT get the achievements for the “Transmuted Armor” you would have to buy the T3 again.

That does of course depend on how they have coded the achievement.

Actually unless they do the silly “build a million rams at keep”-thing it is not really damaging the server much at all.

In the current form of the EULA, Anet does not attempt to define “Exploit,” and thus literally anything and everything you do in game can be labeled as an “exploit,” and result in a ban. This is fully in their legal right, but honestly very bad customer service.

Since the game is currently balanced around 5-man groups.
Doing content for 10-man groups would require some rather major re-balancing.

The main problem with this is that you would have NO IDEA about how you play your new profession. Getting to level 80 means, in most cases, that you have at least some understanding about your profession and such. Getting a level 80 profession that you have never played would make things like this problematic and could create issues with grouping and such.
