There were LOADS of information about the game and its direction long before pre-purchase started.
What makes people assuming that: “Queues don’t work as queues usually do” means “Queues don’t work”?
people with ranks 200+ are a lot less likely to be rally bots unlike a john doe with rank 5.
That does however depend.
Maybe the rank 200+ people simply followed WPX trains all the time which would mean that they could be quite bad player, while the rank 5 can simply be a new player to WvW but still be awesome.
I have personally met quite a few Bronze + guys and many of them are actually quite bad.

I am quite sure my clones and Phantasms did do damage to him as long as I was in the candy coat when I used them.

The main issue with this is guilds.
Myself being in a WvW guild I could see rather big problems with getting the whole guild in together to do events if we had newbies with us. They would simply have to wait in line much longer than our senior members which would make organizing events quite hard.

The achievements make PvE players try WvW, which might end up getting them interested and end up continue playing it. Which is a good thing.

No. The majority of players would have gained on story, because currently they have none. Remember, only a minority ever visits the website.
But at the same time those of us that have the ability to look on the website would lose out on story.
Most of the key points of the story IS in the game however, by listening to the Mad King and the Prince in the Labyrinth. The story on the home-page simply add some more details to it.
He will however get it sooner or later, even if he only plays that little.
And then again, if he plays that little why would he even care about it?
So what, this casual would not have the BiS gear unless he grinds his back of too. What is your point?

I have BiS gear in all available slots at the moment, and I haven’t really done any grinding, just played the game as I normally would. Such as doing events, running around in WvW, doing some dungeons now and then.
Had a bit of skill lag yesterday around reset, but nothing unplayable, and got solved quite fast.
Casual doesn’t really have much to do with the time spent in a game.
Someone could have been standing around chatting in LA for 2000 hours, that wouldn’t make them hardcore players, even if they have a large mount of hours logged.
What they do talk about however is MANDATORY grind. This does not exist in GW2.
You don’t NEED to grind anything in order to do any content in the game.
I do the temple zergs for dragonite. I personally do not find them fun and am almost certainly taking the place of someone who would enjoy it more than I (our temple zergs frequently overflow).

So why are you doing them?
You can get dragonite by doing other things than Temples if you don’t like them.
I don’t really think they want to make it possible to sell levels like that.
It would work in reverse – new scavenger hunt that upgrades the book, during which you get relevant info. If we could speak with ghosts then, no reason we couldn’t do it again.
Which would work for some parts, but not all of them, and thus we would have lost out on story.
Then they should also remove the Fractal, Dungeon and Personal Story ones.
And while they are at it they should also remove JP and WvW ones, in which situation we would end up with about 3 different dailies to choose from.

Indeed, but Colin has never been a lead developer of this game. He is a game director.
It is fully possible that a huge amount of people are in the JP due to the achievements.
We also do not know what the limit is for the maps so for all we know you can have reached the limit with only 15-20 people not at commander.
I am assuming you have never played WvW then?
In WvW said stats are extremely important, and building for straight out damage will make you quite useless in WvW.

They made it quite clear that the “Bosses don’t respawn after 10 min” referred to the Personal Story. In which case it is very much true.

I think the elitism comment was due to the: “People with higher ranks should get priority”. Which is more or less the definition of elitism. Giving people advantages due to them being “better”.
So you basically didn’t read up on anything at all and assume that this game would be GW1 with prettier graphics and now you are mad because you were wrong?
It is most likely due to the fact that it is coded as a dungeon (it counts for dungeon monthly) and thus the “Dungeon completed” window pops-up even if there are no actual rewards to get from it.

People need to understand that “upgrading to better servers” won’t solve anything in most cases.
They are working on it, and it has become much better these last few patches, and they will continue to work on it.

Or they just keep track of when someone queued and when they got in and then add it together with everyone and then divide it by the number of players tracked to get an average.
Easy to do but that would put more of a load on the server and we all know that the Anet WvW server/servers are already under a lot of pressure.

0. There is no achievement that requires defending SM.
How come other games can come up with an average time in queue.
Because they don’t drive on their maximum capacity and can thus let more people in than the “limit”? ^^
I’m curious if you can name one thing achievable in WvWvW that isn’t faster and more abundant in PvE?

Actually not a recent change at all, it has been in the rules since day one.

There are special dailies that counts for the Meta.
That has however not always been the case, nor have they ever actually said that the updates will always be structured like that.

Seriously, what is actually wrong/bad about having this information in game? Do you have an actual argument for why this shouldn’t be in game? Because so far, it seems like you don’t want it in game for the sake of being contrary.
Simply the fact that it doesn’t make any sense or can’t in any way or form actually work in lore.
A rather have longer more informative pieces of lore outside of the game than having short butchered versions of the same lore in game, due to limitations.
I am sincere when I say this but they can just make a seperate zone that is library that has nothing to do with what your characters knows so you can read the storys as to keep the mood and atmosphere.
That would however totally destroy any kind of mood or atmosphere for quite a few serious RPers. Why would reading a book in-game (but outside of your character) be any different from reading the same outside of the game completely?
I would have agreed if this was information that you HAD to know in order to understand the overall story. That is however not the case.
This is just some extra story for people that are interested in the lore and thus can be added out of the game without much issues.
Yep because if you role playing that is how it works. When do you IRL ever know every detail? You might find out a lot of details but you can’t ever go back to witness events that have happen, perhaps watch it on video etc but for the most part you don’t.
If you, on the other hand, actually were a serious roleplayer you would NOT want this readable from a book in the game, since it would be completely impossible for said book to ever be written, from an ingame perspective.
So you would rather have a butchered version of the story in the game than the “full” story outside of the game?
Sure it can.

And then they tie that together by releasing a new scavenger hunt that leads to yet another upgraded Mad Memories.
Look at that, justification for putting it in game and I thought it up in under a minute.
We did however find out the information in the Mad Memories by finding stuff and talking to “people”. It didn’t magically turn up in the book for no reason whatsoever.
This could of course work for some parts of the story, but not all of them have other witnesses that could tell us the information, thus they wouldn’t be able to show us all of it.
Another thing to keep in mind is also the rating of the game, which could make some of the part impossible to show in the game.

You have most likely never seen a skilled warrior with a wooden staff or something then I take it.
Wood can do massive damage if used right.
That is however beside the point. All those things can be explained as decorative weapons or toys.
Suddenly knowing something that only two people “alive” would know can however not be explained.
I am quite sure that the Achievements are fully viewable ingame at the moment and have been since the latest update.
We have 8 bit mushroom clouds in WvW, people running around with christmas weapons etc. etc. A book is a library isn’t gonna be all that bad.
The mushroom clouds are simply holograms, created by the same Asura that created the video game talked about earlier.
We have people running around with decorative weapons, which is something that is also done in the real world.
We do however NOT have people reading minds and knowing exact stuff that happened over two centuries ago without any witnesses other than two that would not speak of it.
No no I don’t, did you not read my suggestion? We have people running around creating 8 bit mushroom clouds which I think is pretty impossible.

And how would you justify someone being able to write said book?
