How would that solve anything? People would still join the winning team and we would have the exact same issues we have now.

What’s even more stupid is that the game got it’s name from events that happened even before GW1 and had absolutely nothing to do with both games, especially gw2.

It had very much to do with more or less everything in Prophecies at least.

One of the highlights of this update is most likely the WvW League starting on 4/10. It is however quite weird that they don’t have that information on the preview page.

This is intended. It is supposed to be an event for a large group. It is after all less than 1% of the game that requires that amount of players, so I don’t really see the issue. It is also something that people have wanted since release.

Which is a good thing. You are not supposed to set an alarm clock to just log in and do something. That would be silly, it also makes the world very static and boring.

Of course it does. It works well enough in chat if you are fast enough at writing and have discussed the fight before the Dragon arrives.

True, but it is quite clearly also possible to complete it in overflow, as this has been done several times. A higher population cap would probably hurt the fight more than help, since it would increase lag and such.

Quite incorrect. Sure they remove the buff and such (removing poison and buffs people) but the vast majority of damage is done by the zerg. Both are needed and technically it would probably be possible to complete it without using the turrets, if your group did enough damage and were fast enough.

Depends on how you see it.
I would say downing something as strong as this is reward enough. You also have a change for several quite rare and cool items.

This would however be way too easy to abuse.

Lets say a troll buys 500 arrow-carts.
He now builds those arrow-carts at a wall, but locks all of them.
That means it is impossible for the other players do build and/or use any defenses and the tower/castle/keep will fall without any real opposition.

You can already retake the control of a siege you have placed yourself, so others stealing it shouldn’t be much of an issue.

Well, that was referring to GW1, and as far as I know (I haven’t played GW1 for a week or so) you can still only play as Human.

That was never the case. It was however always the highest ranked server that got the green spot before they changed the match-up system.

Nowadays it is completely random however.

The main difference is that in a game like WoW, the difference is so massive so that someone with lower tier gear CAN’T even defeat the other guy, unless the other guy is afk.

If they did it would actually make the Ascended gear a real “required” grind and much more like a gear threadmill than it is now due to people being “forced” to “grind” certain items in order to even do certain content.

If you actually read the rest of my post and the posts I commented on I would say that it is quite clear that I have never stated that a fantasy game needs to be medieval.

It might also be due to the fact that some people uses different character for different things, and thus would want different abilities unlocked in WvW.
As far as we know they can’t have account-bound ranks but character-bound unlocks.

It is however permanent, so being lvl 80 shouldn’t be much of an issue.

They most likely don’t do it due to the fact that it would be quite hard to determine WvW-population.

PvE-population is easy since each account is tied to the server. But for WvW? They would need to decide how much activity that would be required to be consider part of the population. Does someone logging into WvW just to craft once a week count towards the population?
Does someone that have played WvW daily for a long time but now only plays PvE count?

The variables are quite many and it is most likely not feasible to base the transfer rate on such unstable numbers.

It is after all fully possible that they will, even if it is not a selling point of the update.

Fantasy != Medieval.

Steampunk is still considered fantasy, even if they use robots and other somewhat “modern” weapons.

But they have HUGE amount of new mechanics and such available to them now, and it is very unlikely that they will just rerun the same event as last year (they said last year that the event itself would repeat every year, but not in the same way).

In order for the minis to actually be on the TP someone must have bought them however.

Simply due to the fact that most of them are account-bound and/or limited time.

Many of them are also available in-game and not via the gem-store and thus one would be able to bypass the gem-cost of minis by letting them count.

But it was also the Living Story team that made two of the most celebrated dungeons in the game.
Molten Alliance Facility and Aetherblade Retreat.
So I don’t really see why that is an issue.

For all we know the former dungeon team is part of the Living Story-team(s).

Well, when they already have an ongoing story, why not use it?
We have already gotten confirmation that Tequatl getting stronger has a reason in the Living World, so it is most likely bigger than just “He got stronger for some random reason”.

I see no reason why they shouldn’t utilize what they already have going on in the game. Some people do like immersion after all.

You can, but you need to actually hold several places for some time. Which is much harder to hack than a simple: “Teleport to orb, teleport out, place orb”.

The issue with hacking back then was the fact that you could easily take the orbs without fighting anything at all by hacking into the keeps.

That is not the case anymore since the orbs don’t work the same way.

Uhmm.. yes. Since your “experience” differs then EVERYONE else on this thread… id say you need to have some numbers to back that up. If you are betting on who is the liar in a lineup, you go with the guy saying the light is red, when everyone else is saying the light is blue.

In a thread where only 1 or 2 posts actually says anything at all about numbers that really isn’t so bad.
Another thing to keep in mind is that people are much more willing to post on forums if they are unhappy rather than happy with changes.

I am simply stating that based on my match-up the amount of people in WvW haven’t decreased in the least, but rather increased, which would suggest that the patch did infact NOT kill WvW.

One can also look up on the scores and such of the other match-ups which would also suggest that it is still very much alive.

Habib Loew from Anet 10 months ago….. would love to hear Devon or anyone from Anet explain why Habib’s statement is no longer valid.

Because a major part of the reason for the statement was due to the fact that people hacked into keeps and took the orbs rather than actually fight for them as intended.
Now said hacking is no longer possible, thus the statement he made is no longer “valid”.
