People want permanent additions to the game, and as far as we know these will only happen once or twice per day after the event.

^But that is because GvG is NOT WvW.
Devon is head of the WvW development, not the GvG development.
These forums are about WvW, not GvG.
Of course off-topic discussions about GvG will be ignored.

If you start posting stuff about sPvP in the Living Story forums they would be ignored as well.

there are a number of ways a story like this could be told in the game. cut-scenes, journal entries players collect for completing missions, or maybe the player journeys around the map to interview the various NPCs Scarlet held her apprenticeships with. all of those people hold valuable information, and talking to them could make for some very interesting in-game detective style storytelling.

And that is assuming they are still alive and/or willing to actually talk about her. We do know that she didn’t have much trouble at least killing off one of them, so why assume the others are safe?

^ So basically we should go out and a journey around the whole world (and for all we know most (if not all) of her teachers/mentors could be dead or refuse to speak of her) just to get some snippet of story that wouldn’t really make sense due to them seeing stuff in completely different ways.

We also see constant whines on these forums about us being forced to run around and press F loads of times with each patch, and this would simply add yet another one of those.

So, people shout about how this should be in-game.

After i start watching this stream i got a little hope that something will change, and at least we will get some nice info, but after 2 min of stream i lost my hope. AN thinks that abilities on WvW are great, and trying to make them use by players. New orb will completly destroy GvG, and still like half of year till this orb. This is kinda pathetic.

They don’t “care” about GvG in WvW. Which has also been stated on this very forum.
GvG != WvW so stop spamming WvW-centric discussions/streams/forum with GvG stuff and require them to build the game about it.

And yet the Pale Tree would most likely not know everything about it anyway.
She is not, as far as we know, constantly monitoring all actions by all sylvari at all time after all. Just like the Dream don’t take everything from all sylvari.

Really it’s written really good. And in game we have short sentences, nothing interesting, it’s strange. Genuine question : is it very time-consuming putting more text in game? Would it be possible to put a lot more cutscenes with talked dialogs?

Sad part is that after this fine read I will be back in game and my 80lvl character awaits mindless mob bashing, nothing more.

Thats just the thing though:
HOW would you put this into the game in a logical way?
In-game no other than Scarlet could have told you all this (if even she could after the experiment) so how would they actually make this logical in-game? (Unless of course we travel back in time and relives everything, but that wouldn’t really be a good solution. )

Aye, they did say something about the announcement being made after the invasion was over.

We don’t know how often they will happen after this release, only that they will continue but less frequently.

She quite clearly plays with us. IF we had defeated her that easily people would have complained about it being too easy.

She is clearly one of the most powerful characters in the world (as far as we know) at the moment, it will take time to take her down.
The youtube-clips that talks about the story are all taken from information found in-game, or purely speculations.
Just because you are too lazy to actually pay attention doesn’t mean it is not there.

Maybe your server simply lack dedicated WvW guilds?

I know at least my server have had massive groups of people the last few days in WvW. And the same goes for at least one of our enemies as well.

Of course WvW takes a blow when new Living story stuff is released, but if you actually have a server that cares for WvW there will still be people doing it.

They DID learn, and therefore made them non-tradeable.

The invasion rewards are indeed once per day per account per zone.

It is quite usual for certain groups to be willing to die for their leader. And based on Scarlet’s comments they don’t have much choice either (seems like the Aeatherblades will simply be killed by Scarlet or her superior if they don’t follow orders).

They are still killing people, and ignoring them won’t really help.
The whole continent is in chaos at the moment, due to the unpredictable attacks.

Very few settlements actually have Asura Gates though, so they still need to walk quite a bit. And due to the fact that she can clearly attack more or less anywhere without warning they can’t really send an army out either.

The main issue is that people today is unable to actually do things without the game pushing it straight into their faces, and thus when something is released that requires some thinking on your own people usually won’t have a clue about what to do.

I found this release quite straight-forward. If you actually listened to what the NPCs said they explained quite well what needed to be done.

Imagine a minipet worth 21,000 gold or more (tried to make some conversions using old ecto-to-gold prices and the current cash-to-gold prices).

People seems to be under the illusion that Scarlet’s invasions is actually trying to take over.
I would say based on Scarlet’s character it is much more likely that they are simply trying to create chaos and hide the real things going on (which can also be implied by completing the Funhouse).

If I buy a car and then a year later buying said car also gives you a set of tires, should I suddenly get that set of tires just because I bought that car at one time?

This is not something new.
Nor is it something unusual. People attending real life events usually get something that is (initially) only available to does that did attend said event.

It has even been done in GW2 before, so I don’t really see why people are surprised.

I was simply pointing out that if the GvG:ers are taking up spots and there is a queue, there would be an issue.
Why should people that have no interest in actually WvW:ing take up spots from those that does?

I never said you couldn’t do anything useful without those numbers. I said only that part of the numbers could do anything useful, instead of all 100 which could be an issue, due to the fact that people might not be able to join for guild events or whatever, due to some people wanting to GvG instead.

Let’s not blame a whole server for the actions of a single individual shall we?

I have seen people from Gandara behaving badly as well, but that does not mean I blame the whole server.

That “vast majority” you’re talking about are the one-dayers who make no difference in the outcome of WvW. They show up for completion and leave. Their presence makes no difference and does not count.

If GvG is so small, why are there so many people QQing about the impact that a GvG has on the ability to earn points? The chief complaint by those against the movement is that the PPT suffers because of it. Hard to have a suffering PPT caused by “almost no one.”

Oh, so those of us that actually does stuff that effects the outcome of WvW (taking points, defending points, escorting dollies) makes no difference?
While you guys who only run around and kill other guilds in a “competition” makes a difference?

You do know that the majority of the points comes from actually holding/taking objectives around the map, right?

GvG IS small, but it still effects WvW, since it creates queues because of people that don’t actively takes part in WvW.

Lets say the limit for each side on a map is 100 players.
If 20 of those players are doing GvG, we suddenly only have 80 players able to do anything useful. And you don’t see an issue with that?

No, they did not say conclusion.
They said they would start to tie everything together, which is exactly what they have done.
We now have confirmation that Scarlet was behind the Molten Alliance. We now know who Scarlet is (more or less) and so on.

The Living Story is not over, it will continue and more stuff will be answered with time.

Most likely refers to the fact that they are doing something (removing ?) the lake in the borderlands.

It is very much true though.
The vast majority of WvW:ers don’t GvG.
If they did we would never have any actual sieges or real fights.

GvG is done by a small (although quite vocal) minority of the WvW population.

1: You got your warning when you signed the ToS which you break if you have offensive names. This is not something new with this patch.
It COULD however be an effect of the fact that Culling no longer exists, which would mean that people could see your name and therefore find it offensive and report it.

I would say they are already quite lore-worthy, and they add more to the world of Tyria than most updates in GW1 ever did.

The invasions should be from key, fortified points, her troops should move to strategic locations, build up towns & outposts & take resources.

But that is not her point with the attacks.

After the Clockwork Chaos release, the invasions will continue at a less frequent pace.

Stops them from respawning I believe.

Why can’t it be epic?
For all we know they are destroying Divinity’s Reach. Or at least having a massive battle (there is one sometime in the future, this might be it) and so on.

Stuff can be epic without requiring big dragons.
