That was not what he was saying at all.
What he was saying was that with a public API it would be MUCH easier to create bots, not that no bots exists right now.

No, it will be tomorrow. Most likely due to the fact that they don’t want to spoil the release (which is also the reason why there is more or less no information on the release page).

And yet based on most posts on this very forum it seems quite clear that the vast majority of the complainers don’t have a clue about development. (Which is made quite clear by the fact that they think stuff would be completed in a few days after being talked about).

And one of the main reason against it still stands: The people here would most likely want to work on stuff for their OWN gain rather than for the game as a whole, which would most likely end up in a conflict of interests.

Another funny thing to keep in mind is the fact that ArenaNet ARE hiring, and people that actually have the knowledge and want to join is fully able to apply for the positions.

Of course. But you made it sound like every single person that knows WvW can simply go into ArenaNets office and start working on changes in WvW.
It would take MONTHS to even get into the code and start doing changes to it. Since the it would require quite some time to learn the code, learn the practices and such.

One also have to understand that people on these forums see things one way (and most likely in a way that makes stuff better for them personally) while ArenaNet needs to look at the game-mode as a whole.

You do know that it requires quite a bit more than “knowing WvW” in order to become a developer right?
Developing (especially something that isn’t new) is a rather major feat and far from all can do it.

Heck I studied system development for 2 years and I have yet to learn even close to enough to take on projects of this size.

Of course not.
But having them taking a MAIN part in the story would create issues, especially with the Pact, since someone that have not played the Personal Story would have no clue about what the pact is.

They have not forgotten them, they have simply decided to keep them out of the Living Story (for now) as long as possible.
I also see that you for some reason actually ignored the fact that there WERE Order-members in the Living Story (Whispers had a spy that left intel that we had to find and the Vigil found the Molten Alliance Facilities), so they are quite clearly not forgotten.

They simply choose not to give them a major role, since that isn’t really their purpose.
Their purpose is to stop the Elder Dragons, not local politics.

Indeed, and yet based on what have been seen (at least a while back) people that actually likes the Elder Scrolls series don’t seem to find TESO interesting, especially since it is created by a company that haven’t made any earlier ES-games.

No, not actively. Especially not in the MMO market. It is quite usual to hear about company X firing people or shutting down offices if MMO Y was not successful enough.

No. To have the best stats you will need to get ASCENDED weapons and armor. Legendaries will NEVER be stronger than the strongest tier.

A gear threadmill would be if they added more and more tiers every few months, that is clearly no the case (at least not yet). And usually it also follows the fact that the rest of the game gets harder to “force” people to get the highest tier gear in order to even beat stuff. That is clearly not the case in GW2 since the game and it’s encounters is still fully possible to do with already existing tiers.

Wrong. Most MMOs don’t merge servers for a very long time even if there are dead ones. Merging servers is a flag that the game is not doing that well. So it’s better to leave the dead servers up and at least show they have X amount of servers rather than merge early and have a small number of more populated servers.

There are quite a few games that merges servers quite fast after release if they are unsuccessful. TOR is a good example, so is TERA.

And the fact that ArenaNet have increased the server limits several times (including again today or yesterday) would point towards the fact that the servers are far from dead.

That would however be seen as a slap in the face to those of us that actually bought them at full price back when they were time-limited.

I was under the impression that the post I quoted was being annoyed by the fact that Ascended gear could be used in WvW and that it would imbalance it. And I commented about it with the fact that the leaps between already existing gear sets are bigger and yet it is fully possible to be competitive with even lower tier items.

They made it very clear back when they announced Ascended Gear that there WILL be items for all slots in time.

Legendaries will have ascended stats simply because Legendaries should always be on par with the highest tier. And it would be increased until Ascended weapons are added.

People WILL start using Chinese in chat, which would be completely unreadable to the vast majority of the players and could lead to quite a bit of annoyance from both sides (just try to type something in German, French or Spanish (or even languages not supported at all on any marked servers) on a non-marked server and see what happens).

And yet the leap between Rare and Exotic is bigger, not to mention Mastercraft and exotic, and yet it is fully possible to run around and be useful using both Mastercraft and Rare items in WvW.

Diablo 3 is not an MMO (even if Blizzard seems to wanted to make it one), so bringing D3 up isn’t really relevant to the discussion.

The main issue with that is the fact that it would remove the ability to know which skills you are up against in a PvP match. As of right now you have a rather good knowledge about what that Warriors with a Hammer and a Greatsword can do, but if they suddenly add 15 different skills for hammer and greatsword you won’t have a clue about what you are up against.
