Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Yes you can go to any zone but that wasn’t the point of this suggestion. The suggestion is that all zones are even, without any level ranges. One world that you can explore. If they want to make a specific zone more difficult, sure go ahead ArenaNet. Just dont use levels to define power.
Levels should exist for progression in which way you can customize your character. Traits and skills.
So basically remove every kind of progression in the actual world?
The zones tells a story. That story is tied to the personal story, which is level “restricted” and therefore removing the level “restriction” from the zones would make all that quite weird, unless they also made the whole personal story balanced for lvl 2.
As for dungeons: It is fully possible to enter a dungeon at any level, the level set are those which the dungeons are MADE for, that does not mean people under those level can’t complete it, it would just be much harder.
Sounds extremely unlikely.
They aren’t restricted though.
You can run from your starting area to the Gates of Arah as soon as you finish the tutorial. Nothing is stopping you but you will most likely be killed if you are not playing smartly.
Making money is useful.
I would also like a race change option.
It is.
But it will most likely require much more time and effort than it is actually worth. And unless the price is extremely high they would most likely earn more on simply selling more character slots for people that want to try other races.
Here’s an edited version showing things that we actually care about in wvw. I even added one to the bottom that we also don’t care about. Look at the only things that actually changed wvw….
Oh, so just because “we” don’t care about them they were not added?
I am quite sure “we” don’t like several of those things added in PvE either, and yet people always count those anyway.
^ But then again what makes you think they actually want match-manipulation and such like GvG?
Please point them out.
Breakout events?
Fixing of Orbs?
And why only map changes?
Why are those the only ones that matter?
PvE have 26 (?) maps, WvW have 2 (or 4 if you count all borderlands as own maps). So it is quite unfair to compare the actual map implementations (but then again, if you look at % the WvW maps have actually gotten more than the PvE maps, where the majority of the changes have been made to a select few maps).
You unlock them and can use them when you feel like it until they are out of charges.
The rest of the game’s map changes:
4 Halloween zones
Southsun cove
4 Christmas zones
3 New dungeon instances
A large Jumping puzzle in an existing zone
3 New sPvP maps
Dragon ball
Some additions I probably missed
The Queen’s Pavilion/gauntlet
Countless changes to Lion’s ArchWvW:
No additions or changes because it takes time (2 weeks from GW2’s 1 year anniversary if you’re counting)
Either the WvW devs are hopelessly incompetent or ANet doesn’t provide the same level of support that it does for other game modes. When mini games get more development than one of GW2’s main game types, something is wrong and ANet need to be called on it.
At least be fair when you are making lists like that.
You are ignoring quite a few things added in WvW.
I’d love to see Developers asking WvW players what we actually want to see.
I’d love to see more communication between the devs and players.
Yeah, and then they get 10000000000 different (and contradictory) things “we” want to see, and have to decide which “we” they should cater to.
They are already watching the forums and that gives them a rather good look about what some people want.
They never said more trait points.
They said we would be getting new skills and traits.
Information that is not coming from ArenaNet should be taken with a grain of sand, since in most cases they are simply speculation.
Is there “offering of ascension”? That be actually useful for fractal token mystic toilet recipes.
Those recipes don’t use fractal relics anymore but dust.
There are some updates coming soon, quite soon even, that hopefully will dispel this. Say bye-bye to the Quaggan.
Noooooooooooooo
They are for the recipes that required dungeon tokens before.
Why assume that their goal is to kill people?
You really have no idea what you’re talking about. I’ve had years of experience developping games and trust me, the kind of PVE content they make is quite some programmin, more-so than simply changing colors for commander icon in WvW.
Of course.
But people aren’t talking about changing colors for commander icons (and if it was implemented it would probably be considered even worse than the masteries) they want grand changes such as new maps and stuff like that.
Alright. I’ll make it clearer:
Character A is used for running around taking camps and such.
He will most likely spec for guard-defense and guard-damage.
Character B is used for taking towers, keeps and stonemists and will most likely have spent more on the different siege masteries and supplies.
Character C is used for defending and holding stuff, and he will most likely have spent most points in repair, arrowcart and oil-masteries.
See the issue here?
Sure at first all these 3 characters would have the same stuff, but later on they would have to focus on only one of the three at first.
They are working on it and it is quite possible that it will be released with the Anniversary Patch (based on the fact that there have been stuff about it in the dat-file for quite sometime).
Technically there already is a simple LFG system in the game, but people don’t really use it ^^
But it is quite possible that it would be impossible to have different specs on different characters in an account-wide feature. Which would mean that character a and character b would need to have the exact same things unlocked.
Since you can’t reset your WXP ranks abilities it would be a rather big issue if you want different abilities on different characters though.
Tried WvW 2 days ago and it was like a ghost town due to the new PvE content…
Is it still like this? or are people back?
Would depend on the server I would say.
Some servers are more hard-core WvW whilst others have more PvE focus.
It did however require way more to get the debuff in GW1 AND it was removed much faster.
Ah yes, the Ringmaster is the one that starts the fight/queue while the Fight Manager sets specific challengers.
That is not an hour.
Might I also suggest trying one of the other arenas, in case that one is bugged.
They added this with the latest update.
Leaving rated arena games will punish players with a Dishonorable debuff. Each stack of dishonor lasts for 72 hours. If a player has the maximum amount of dishonor (5 stacks), they will be prevented from joining rated games.
1 hour?
I believe that is even impossible, due to the fact that the limit on the map is 75 people, there are 6 arenas, each match takes at most 2 minutes.
That would mean that the longest queue, if everyone on the whole map were in queue and all failed due to time out is about 25 minutes.
Spend some time watching people fight. Kill some mobs down below or whatever. There are loads of stuff to due while waiting.
Together with the boxed sales, they did. Maybe you should have been around all the years leading up to the GW2 release and witness where they stated that time and time again.
I have been with the GW franchise since a few months after release of Prophecies, so don’t assume things.
They did not actually state that GW1 paid for GW2. They said that GW2 was made possible by the success of GW1.
That does in no way or form mean that GW2 was made only on resources from GW1, it simply means that the success made investors interested in investing money on the development.
They made all their money to fund this game selling costumes and hats in GW1. Sound familiar?
Yeah….. I am sure they made MILLIONS on those costumes and hats in GW1…
Thinking that GW1 itself paid even close to enough to create GW2 is extremely naive.
Just because they have found a bug doesn’t mean they can just snap their fingers and fix it.
In most cases bugs takes time to solve. Should they stop fixing the “easy” bugs and wait until all the bugs are fixed until releasing a patch?
Since it’s a convenient hub, shouldn’t there be a skill trainer? I mean it has everything an adventurer could want, banks, crafting stations, a mini-zommoros…
Why isn’t there a skill trainer/retraiter?
That is indeed quite weird. Probably just an oversight.
Aw, had hoped for another server than GH this week, ah well.
The main issue with that is that it risks completely destroying the WvW match-ups (again), due to a high amount of people transferring to the high tier servers.
Hmm, I have not seen a magician in there, but might have missed him/her/it.
Nope, those are the things inside there, nothing special or unique for that place, but rather all the other useful stuff in the same place.
And this couldn’t go into one of the 50 other threads about the exact same topic?
You’d still have to walk back and entering would still require a ticket.
Which takes a minute or so, but no actual punishment.
So basically no punishment for failing?
The book is more or less the predecessor to the games dungeon story modes. Those story modes explains the aftermath of their splitting up.
The Queens successor?
Queens Son (who know what she and Logan have been up to after all.)
If you want to pvdoor all day, no problem. But I prefer hours long seiges.
I prefer long sieges as well (my guild is more of a defending guild), but that doesn’t mean we should disregard stuff that is actually added.
Try to pay attention. The point being discussed here is that virtually none of that money is being spent on new WvW content, not whether or not it costs a lot of money to fund continuous new PvE content.
And you should try to read the posts people quote before quoting them.
The post I quoted stated that none of the money spent on the BLT actually goes back to the game, which is of course complete bullkitten.
It is also quite clear that there are some of those money actually going towards WvW, otherwise we wouldn’t have ANY form of updates or such in WvW, which is not the case.
We also know that there are more stuff being worked on in WvW, and that also costs money and takes time.
^ What about the new graphic options and champion loot? I suppose those won’t count because they were added to PvE as well?
It was supposed to go to Southsun I believe, but something went wrong and it connected to the Fractals instead.
They are working on it, and based on what is available in the dat-file it is likely that it will come somewhat soon. I would say that the next update (which is close to the anniversary of the game) would be a good guess for it’s release.
Because otherwise you could get a high amount of rewards without having to “work” for it.
that would be all well and good, except…… there’s one key problem with all of it. the money people spend in the BLTC doesn’t go to Arenanet it goes to NCSoft. who then use that money to fund their other MMOs, including wildstar. so when you put in your credit card numbers, and think you’re helping to support Anet, you’re not. you’re helping to support wildstar. and, THAT, ladies and gentlemen is the reason for all of the focus being on 2 week living story stuff instead of the entire rest of the game. what they’ve been doing is setting up spring break and mardi gras, then filling the BLTC with souvenirs, and then try to lure as many tourists in as possible. those of us who have been playing the game since launch are the locals, and aren’t the target customer base for the giant tourist trap that GW2 has become. so they couldn’t care less about us. they only care about the money they can get out of the tourist they bring in with their constant stream of party events and worthless souvenirs, which are then used to fund the next big project.
Ah, this again.
ArenaNet doesn’t have ANY money, since they are fully owned by NCSoft. People also seems to ignore that the only reason we have GW2 is because of NCSofts other games (Aion, Lineage, Lineage 2 and City of Heroes) made enough money to finance the development of the game.
But for some reason people refuse to accept that NCSoft want to earn those money back.
GW2 is most likely their most successful game right now, so of course they will spend quite a bit of their money on it (the fact that they are constantly hiring people for different positions in ArenaNet should be a rather major hint).
Do you really think that all those 2-week content are produced without any kind of cost?
Her plan is to “input generic evil deed like usurpation of power”, she’s mastermind (but if she is in some generic Order, she can be latest chosen master), and, huh, they were creators (If they were Asuran I’d add "but something went wrong) of steam creatures.
GW2 is too predictable, not like GW1. Deal with it. Save this post and cry, when my rightness will be revealed in some of upcoming patches.
So you simply don’t have a clue at all, that is what you are trying to say?
The Aetherblade did not create the steam creatures.
Not if they balanced upscaling so that the stats are pretty close.
The issue is upscaling doesn’t work as advertised.
Upscaling was never supposed to make you as powerful as a real lvl 80. Just like downscaling is not making you as “weak” as a real lvl 10.
LOL…that is not true! A check to balance the numbers is literally only 3 lines of code.
Please don’t support bad behavior.
Might I ask how much development experience you have?
Based on your response I would assume very little to none.
WvW and PvE is completely different and require completely different things when it comes to development. In PvE they only need to take mobs into consideration, whilst in WvW there are also other players and such.
There is also a ranking and point-system that might risk getting broken with patches and so on.
We don’t know how often they will repeat.
The Queen’s Jubilee can’t really repeat each year, so it is unlikely that the Gauntlet will necessarily be tied specifically to it.
