Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Next hero is their “tag” for the living story labels, everyone of those have had next hero in their name.
For the thing at hand though: Let’s keep in mind that this will take place during GW2’s Anniversary ^^
Actually I had the same issue earlier on just after the actual patch hit, so it might very well be a bug rather than a “stealth-nerf”.
No it does not say that there.
There you go:
Support Your Candidate – July 23 to August 5
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/july-23-2013/
And since the whole living story is about the voting, wouldn’t it be logical to assume that the event would end with the end of voting?
Since when and where?
Actually usually the second part of a story is only 2 weeks, and this was also told when they announced Cutthroat Politics.
So you would rather have a cheap item that would invalidate one of the Mesmers main uses?
we won this match
Indeed, by nightcapping (right before a long downtime) and golem rushing.
Is that really a fun way to win?
some of the npcs still refer to it as having been Canthan.
Actually they only say something along the lines of being from the Canthan AREA of DR, that does not mean there were a specific district for Cantha however.
The Great Collapse area have NEVER (in Lore) been the Canthan area.
Given Ive only had the last 2 days to play I didnt have much choice… The point is there was very little advanced warning that this would happen a day earlier than previous updates, which have always happened at the END of the day referred to as the patch day. Had I known this content actually ended on the 5th, not the 6th, I might have been able to finish everything I wanted to do.
The content however didn’t end on the 5th (other than the content advertised as such) it did end on the 6th.
People should simply learn to assume that you might not be able to finish up stuff the same day as said stuff is stated to leave the game.
This is why you shouldn’t leave things until the very last second.
We also got information yesterday about todays downtime and it was quite logical to assume that the patch might be live after said downtime.
It is about their current and/or recent enemies though. Not distant and rather unknown (in the game world) ones. The Flame Legion actually IS one of the enemies you doface there.
It is capped at 250 APs.
So 2 tries per hour while rest of the time i sit on my kitten bored and watch the paint dry…. Amazing content
Yes 2 tries per hour IF every single person in the map constantly queue up AND keep failing due to running out of time.
This is extremely unlikely.
There is also quite clearly other stuff to do while waiting, such as killing the champions down below and such.
We do not know what will happen at the end of the event..
Nope… Only one player at a time, while the others wait. The sad thing. Everyone will be doing this, therefor. It will take you around 4 weeks to do it ONCE and since its not permanent, it will dissapear and you only got to try it once
I think you need to work a bit on your math skills.
75 people on each map
6 arenas
2 minutes MAX per round
That means the queue at the very longest would be 25 minutes. And that would be if every single one in the map was doing it and all of them failed due to the time running out. And even if that was the case it would be fully possible to do 2 tries each hour, a month consists of quite a high number of hours.
If the second version is permanent and different enough, then yes, people would love it.
So people would rather have peaceful (?) pointless maps that we have already visited than venturing deeper into Maguuma or towards the Crystal Desert?
Pretty much in the same way that there are overflows, there could be two versions of Orr. People that finished the PS would be put on the new map, that would continue to be “healed” and developed. People that still have to finish the PS will go to the old map, all corrupted and full of risen.
They could do the same to Ascalon. Otherwise, we would never find a way of getting rid of the ghosts of Ascalon because of the Charr personal story.
I’m not saying that it is something that we MUST HAVE. I’m just saying that it would make sense. It would be nice to heal Orr, to rebuild Ascalon (on the Fields of Ruin only, since the Charr will keep the other maps) and/or Owl’s Lodge (the Owl is dead, but her teachings are not).
Oh I know how they could do it technically. But do we really think people would like the idea of them spending months on making new versions of already existing maps rather than working on new maps?
Personal Story is instanced, so that’ not affected at all…as for the final battle, they can make something creative. But I am simply basing this on their idea behind the Living Story while this particular part of the map is “living” and evolving, other parts of the world are frozen in time.
So you would suddenly face enemies and see areas that do not exist in the actual world when doing the personal story then?
Tips page?
No it was written quite clearly in the patch notes.
They also posted about it on these forums, on facebook and on twitter earlier today.
They need to to do what WoW did and have Phasing.
Ah yes, I am sure people would love them spending months on doing a second version of 3 maps instead of actually releasing new maps
You know what needs to disappear? The corruption in Orr.
While the Living Story evolves, Orr is frozen in time. Just doesn’t make any sense.
And how much sense would it make doing the personal story for new players if there are no Risen nor a corrupted Orr?
No it did not end early. It ended at exactly the time they said it would end.
11:00 Server time.
… just like the way no-one runs CoF anymore because it’s been there since the start of the game?
If something is fun (or – at least – rewarding) people will keep playing it. People don’t play Keg Brawl not because it’s permanent, but because it’s not especially fun.
How many people run CM, SE and HoW?
The only reason people are running CoF is because of the fact that it is fast rewards for little to no work.
Thank you, Colin. I hope people will be satisfied with your answer.
They won’t be sadly.
It is fully possible to take Keeps without using Golems.
^ Why would people join in on the personal story when every single part of it except the last mission is solo?
^ Because if something is there permanently it is more or less abandoned a few weeks or so after release. If on the other hand it is temporary people will keep doing it before it will go away sooner or later.
If I WANTED to go kill mobs sure, Ill go kill mobs, but I WANT to play Queens Gauntlet. Thats like saying… oh you want to do this dungeon, well other people are in it go pvp till its open.
Things like this have however been in the game since release.
There are several dungeons that requires stuff done to have the dungeons unlocked after all.
So that’s 25 min if your the last one in queue if everyone is queuing well I’m hoping others weren’t looking as forward to this as I was. /guest to lowest populated sever
Yeah, if everyone takes 2 minutes, which is most likely not the case.
After 2 minutes you automatically fails so I would assume most people would try (and succeed) faster than that.
They spent 4 months developing an area and mini-game to have it be destroyed and never seen again?
I’d say they are stupid and should find a new team of developers.
Or they could just move it to an instanced area by talking to an NPC.
It takes no effort at all to NOT remove something. They just don’t care.
I am just talking about possible reasons why this won’t be permanent.
And after all they did build the Bazaar and it is leaving tomorrow, so I don’t really see why it would be different to simply destroying it.
EDIT: Meh ninja’d by Colin :P
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
Indeed it is not instanced.
And as for queues there might be some but quite unlikely that they will be very long seeing as there are 6 matches going on at the same time and each takes 2 minutes at most.
^ Buy the permanent version on the TP?^^
That doesnt prove anything…. They could just NOT remove this content… And it would be permanent
So, lets say a giant monster comes and destroy the whole area where the new stuff are, how could they not remove it?
The launcher would be a fantastic place to put announcements and information about upcoming changes and events to the game, but you have to understand, it’s not “popular”.
The launcher actually links to the very page I linked in this thread, where the information is.
Again, not a prominent place. Should have been posted on the main event page. Would have taken one sentence. If they can list the days, they could have just as easily listed the time.
The patch notes are posted on the main event page, and it quite clearly says that you can vote until the 5th. Nothing about time, so why assume that means the whole of the 5th?
I dunno, I wouldn’t be surprised if abbadon was secretly behind the destruction of the reactor.
Abaddon was dead long before that.
Apparently there was a livestream set for noon PDT today. Apparently the announcement was plastered all over GW2 Facebook and Twitter. Can the people who don’t give in to social media sites start getting some news maybe on these forums? You know, the official game forums? Or maybe even on the launcher?
That’d be great. Thanks.
Whats wrong with:
Enjoy an early look at the Queen’s Jubilee release with ArenaNet devs during the preview livestream on our Twitch channel on Monday, August 5 at 12PM PDT.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/august-06-2013/
Support tokens for Evon Gnashblade and Ellen Kiel will no longer be accepted at Zephyr Sanctum after 11 a.m. PST on August 5.
From the patch notes that have been available since the release.
So, basically have nothing at all outside dungeons that “require” a group?
Sounds like you are looking for a single player game rather than an MMO.
Lets wait until we see the reason why it is not permanent, shall we?
Since it is quite clear that there is a reason for it, otherwise it would be rather weird to just shut off part of the city for no reason other than the end of the event.
I bought 1 token just as a memory after the votes shut down. Spent all the others well before they closed it ^^
The main issue with that is the fact that the personal story wouldn’t really make any sense at all if there suddenly were no Risen around.
I know the one you mean but that’s not your mentor. the mob just mentions that you will soon be joining your mentor in death then attacks you. insidentally that event is also on a completely different scope from my idea.
It is actually quite likely that it is indeed your mentor, seeing as those with the Order of Whispers meet an undead Charr and the Vigil meets an undead Norn and it is in the area around where he died.
what would have been awesome and made me really hate zhaitan is if they brought back your mentor as an undead champion as you pushed into orr. Such as when you try to ambush the eye. how would you feel facing your mentor, Tybalt for example (everone loves that guy) who has been completely corrupted and warped into a sadistic evil nemesis of sorts and you have to fight him through out your push into orr such as at the sunken temple instead of a no name champion and at various other clutch points in the story. Have them kill off other characters right in front of you and generally try to get in your way. You give evil a face (especially a face you know and like) and you will hate it to the depths of your soul even if it is some gargantuan force of nature. That’s how they should have done it. It would have been far more personal and immersive at that point you would really want to kill zhaitan. As a finisher imagine fighting your old mentor on that giant airship surrounded by undead while zhaitan flyes over head. far more epic.
There actually IS an event in Bloodtide Coast where (presumably) your mentor comes back and attacks you.
Simply because no one can win PvE since it is not actually a competition against other people.
Who would decide who should get the monetary reward in PvE?
It is however confirmed that the QJ WILL be here for a month, which would mean that it will be here during the 1 Year Anniversary and could therefore be assume to be tied to the 1 Year Anniversary.
Without an official posting, statement that says this is the prelude to the anniversary of release, then anyone stating otherwise is simply telling others false information.
Wouldn’t that however also be the same case about saying how it is not tied to it?
I even think they actually said something about the anniversary when talking about this release a few weeks back. I’ll see if I can find it.
