Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Yea but they’re probably going to put achievements for the different gambits, seeing how they put achievements for everything (not getting hit by lasers for AR, not getting hit by the cannon barrage, T1/T2/T3/T4, etc)
Then you simply need to learn to play with all those gambits if you feel the need to have all achievements.
Achievements are supposed to actually require people to achieve something, which is quite clearly not the case for most of the current Achievement in this game but they seems to be working on adding more.
You don’t NEED to complete all achievements after all.
I would assume that only means that you have to do enough damage to qualify for the reward (such as it already is)
graphics has absolutely zero to do with server calculations.
It does however effect performance.
A text-based game does require WAY LESS server power and calculations than a graphical game.
The planet is called Tyria.
I am fully aware of that, but to avoid confusion I said the planet instead of Tyria, since most people here most likely would assume that Tyria refers to the continent rather than the planet.
Yaro Devon has said that the servers wouldn’t be able to hold higher AOE so simple solution upgrade servers, there are many other games out today that can hold amazing amounts of action and graphics for their games namely example the battlefield franchise with their frostbite engine! If you are talking about their money than I’m sure that I formation is available with their yearly profits reports and such along with over 3 million copies sold within a year
Simply upgrading the servers will most likely not solve anything, and for all we know they already have the best possible servers so why assume they can simply upgrade them?
The fact that you even compare Battlefield to GW2 makes it really hard to take you serious.
Yes, because Anet is making this two week content the only things in the game that gives repeatable rewards! If a min-game gives rewards again and gains but, killing a champion or doing a dungeon twice doesn’t, what are you going to do? Players go where the rewards are!
Hmm?
I am quite sure that the best way to get rewards as of this time is running CoF P1 over and over and over again, and that is funnily enough a dungeon, that have been in the game since release.
Dungeons tends to give much better rewards than the mini-games (you have to complete quite a few of the latest mini-games for a guaranteed rare for one).
They are also adding completely new drops to champions on Tuesday and are revamping the reward system for dungeons.
And do you actually NEED these rewards to play the game?
If not I would say the issue is non-existent.
That is done serverside, not client side, since you cease to affect anything after the application.
Not all of it
That very same process is used for every attack in the game. I guess people should stop using abilities to decrease server load then.
And yet the vast majorities of those attacks don’t happen several times within a second, which conditions does.
LOL what? Are you serious? You’re telling me that somehow an action that is determined after no less than half a second, that doesn’t have the ability to crit (and thus doesn’t require any additional simulation server side) is somehow more encumbering than anything else with a short cooldown ability that can crit and requires the same number of calculations for everything else?
The thing is that every single stack requires data to be sent to and from the server, and for every thing sent the load increases and increasing the load even more is most likely not advisable.
Weak? Please explain before you get your MMO license revoked
Weak as in not requiring as much power from the servers and such due to graphics and other limitations of that age.
“I believe one of the main issues is that all you are doing is looking at it from a reward point of view rather than a story point of view.”
What do you mean by that? So far the story is these 2 competing for the Captain’s Council seat. They claim it’ll affect the story later, but they could just be saying that.
The only other story bit will be from whichever fractal we get, since those cover past events.
I mean that we know that the characters are completely different, and that the future of Lions Arch will most likely be completely different based on the winner.
Kiel is a soldier and she is good out in the field, but as far as we know she have no political knowledge or experience and could therefore have trouble with sitting on the Council.
Evon is a merchant with rather vast knowledge of organizations and such and most likely have more knowledge and/or experience when it comes to politics (especially since his mission was to “infiltrate” and gain a foothold in Lions Arch for the Ash Legion (before founding Black Lion Trading Company).
So while Kiel is more a person of action one can assume that Evon is more of a politician, which would mean the outcome of the vote would differ quite a bit.
AFAIK dodge rolling is the only reliable full mitigation on necromancer arsenal. If the gauntlet is still beatable on a necromancer, does it mean that it’s doable just by kiting, or even worse, by face tanking with a good self-sustained build?
Death Shroud?
I believe one of the main issues is that all you are doing is looking at it from a reward point of view rather than a story point of view.
Evil. Genocide is always wrong. Even if you don’t share the ideas of the people in question.
So the “good” races are confirmed to be evil then, since we all plan to commit genocide on the Elder Dragons. Thanks for finally admitting what we have been trying to tell you for about 5 pages.
On other unrelated news, why is it called Lion’s Arch when there are no lions in Tyria?
There are Lions on the planet.
in the real world we just don’t spend too much money by misclicking or server-game errors…
Oh?
I have seen reports of quite a few people that have bougth 100 items instead of the 10 they were actually wanting to buy and such.
And lets be honest here, how many of these “server-game errors” have actually happened?
Well if I remember correctly, (and I’m sure Konig will correct me on this if I’m wrong), Abaddon gave the people of Tyria the gift of magic. This lead to many wars, and thus King Doric pleaded to the Gods. What the Gods did was split the magic into different parts, through the sundering of the Bloodstones. This would prevent anyone from ever controlling all magic.
So the races didn’t have magic from the beginning. But they do have it now, for quite a long time. The races of Tyria do not have to be close to the Bloodstones to have magic. The land, I suppose, is filled with magic. And people are born with this gift naturally. Some are more talented in magic than others. And some study harder. The combination of the two makes for truly powerful magic users.
It is also important to note that some of the lore of GW1 regarding the history of magic has been slightly altered, and expanded for GW2. Thus we now have the older races like the Jotun, who also practiced magic. And the Gods building Arah on Orr, because they were attracted to the magical powers of Zhaitan, was also copy pasted in later.
Do we actually have any proof that magic comes naturally to people though? As far as we know everyone can learn to use magic, but no one can use magic at birth.
Until we actually know how magic in Tyria works this stating that we can never lose it is quite silly.
You are underestimating the influence that Tolkien’s writing has had on modern (fantasy) literature. His books indeed have influences of various mythologies, but his world is still his own. And we wouldn’t have books like Game of Thrones today, if it weren’t for people like Tolkien first paving the way.
I am not saying he did not influenced stuff, I am just questioning the fact that he was as original as you seems to want to tell people, because it is bullkitten. Had he been original he would not have to build his whole world on already existing stories.
And saying we would not have other fantasy or such without him is quite naive, there would have come other people anyway. Fantasy have existed in written form long before Tolkien was even born and most modern fantasy is quite far from Lord of the Rings.
Tolkien was one of the first fantasy writers to build an entire world, and invent languages for the various people that inhabited that world. Make sure you know what you are talking about. Tolkien was completely original. He was the first writer of his kind, and has been copied by everyone ever since.
And yet there is nothing at all original in his story, but rather a mash-up of already existing stories and creatures such as the whole story about the ring from the Nibelungenlied which was written several hundred years before The Lord of the Rings and most of the creatures also comes from Norse myths and such.
Same with his languages, which are all based (and in some cases quite similar) to already existing languages such as Finnish and Welsh.
Maybe YOU should make sure you know what you are talking about before posting?
Eh, no. The various species are born with an innate talent for magic. They already have that gift. It is not a resource that we are fighting for.
Do we actually know that though?
The races didn’t have magic from the beginning, it was given to them by Abaddon, wouldn’t that imply that if the supply of magic was removed they would lose their ability to use magic?
Nope, you cannot.
PvP is however not server specific (unless you are talking about WvW) and should be quite possible to do cross-server.
Lol skill it takes for builds and cohesion for COF P1 lmfao you mean the ability to face stomp it easily with ANY group of people who have half a brain and can push buttons?
Hm?
It can actually be quite hard if you don’t go with the 4 zerker warriors and a mesmer version
Why not tradeable? I think need more tradeable commodities in the market. Food and potions being a bit stagnant for some time.
I would assume because making it tradeable would make it possible to require a high amount of them from anywhere (with the Black Lion Pick-up item) rather than being required to actually get them before running out on your adventures.
Simple question. Why is there an aoe cap? And no, please do not come up with that “technical limitation” bull crap. There has been thousands games before this with massive pvp and no aoe cap, why would your engine be somehow so infernior to that of these older games?
Please show me all these “thousands games” with massive PvP, all I can think of is DAoC and that game was quite “weak” compared to GW2.
I would say that technical limitations is actually a rather good and logical answer, one can also assume that it might have to do with balancing and such as well.
Dervish most likely won’t come back, since they are tied too closely to the Human Gods.
The other classes that have yet to make appearances are built into the existing classes such as Guardian (Monk, Paragon, Ritualist).
So, Devs, what happens now if a player has no coin in the wallet or not enough for a waypoint fee? Do they stay dead until someone happens upon and revives them? What if they’re not really in an accessible area and should not expect anyone to happen across them? Or will they then have switch to an alt if they have one, or for those with only one character, will they have to then make an entirely new second character just to kill a few things to get a few coin in their wallet so they can then log back into the dead character since they can now afford a waypoint fee?
The exact same thing that have happened since release if you die without any kind of money.
You get a free WP.
A personal graphic disable would indeed be nice.
But not for others, since it is a rather good indicator that your next skill will be blocked so you can plan, without losing time by clicking on the enemy and looking at his/her/its buffs.
Did people actually buy the DD just for the extra in-game goodies…?
I am the only one that bought it in order to support ArenaNet a bit more than the standard version?
Likewise, I would be surprised if the World of Warcraft movie is any good. Both story, lore and setting lean so heavy on cliches and stealing things from Tolkien. There’s such an incredible void of original ideas in videogame settings.
You mean just like the incredible void of original ideas in Tolkiens writing?
Well, I do recall one Centaur being at Dragon Bash and saying that she’s tried to gain acceptance among the humans, but they still look at her as an enemy.
I was like “Hmm… I wonder where this is going.”
That centaur have been there since release though.
And yet we have not seen the area, so we can’t really assume it will be bad, now can we?
By the sound of it I would say it sounds way more fun than just “venturing into a hole and find out stuff”.
People also should keep in mind that just because the current Fractals are short and random does not mean the future added Fractals will be.
For all we know they will add a new system where you can select a specific Fractal to run and such.
I personally don’t think EVERYTHING should be connected. SAB connected to every other piece of Living Story? eh
People being driven from their home and are sad and scared.
Moto creates the SAB to help people think about something else.
Connection created.
I’m incredibly wary of this. It sounds very close to P2W where you can pay a lot of gold to get access to an incredibly powerful skill.
Why assume the materials and/or recipe/item will be tradeable?
Please clarify, because I hear everyone ranting about wvw, will this wallet work for dungeon tokens as well?
Yes.
We will get information about it when it is getting released.
I believe this discussion is pointless.
People simply refuse to accept anything other than their own opinions.
Is it really necessary to have bi-weekly living story content, when wvw has seen no content for nearly a year?
Can’t we at least stop ignoring all changes made to WvW before making posts like this?
System and feature-wise WvW have gotten LOADS of stuff since release, but people seems to ignore this because it is not new maps.
Power creep? Good players should be rewarded.. Supply mastery rewards casual idiots who want to build siege more. ZERO progress made towards a player vs player atmosphere.
So basically: “I have played longer so I should be able to kill new players simply because of that”
Canthan areas can simply refer to an area where many Canthan lives. Not something that is specifically Canthan.
It wouldn’t be for no reason, it would still be a convenience item, as it has been since its creation.
After a while you’d get tired of transferring them around and say to yourself “Gee I wish I had just bought a few of them back then so I didn’t have to move them around all the time…” oh but wait! you already did!
And yet people would still feel cheated by the fact that they were “forced” to buy several of them and then suddenly that would no longer be the case.
What?
Quite a few of use bought several units of each item in order to use them on several characters, due to the fact that they were soulbound on equip.
Suddenly making these items account-bound would more or less mean we have bought the extra versions of them for no reason and that would most likely annoy quite a few people.
Of course i do stuff for rewards..its a game..you get rewarded in games for completing objectives right?
Personally I don’t really care much about the reward but rather do stuff for the story and in order to get involved in the world.
I think after the sale is over and they remove the axe from Gem Store they should make them account bound idd… But I don’t think they should be cheaper
And kitten over all of use that actually bought several of each you mean?
I am sure that would be very popular…
So, you are one of those people that do stuff for the rewards rather than the actual content?
Why assume they are building the game around people like that?
No, murder simply implies that it was a planned act, no matter the actual reason for it.
I disagree. We can all logically come to the conclusion that murdering an innocent person for the nefarious purposes of yourself, is always a wrong act. Not killing, but murder specifically, under the definition that I gave. It is objectively always a wrong act.
So, lets say I know that person X will turn into a crazy dictator and start a war that will decimate humanity, would it be evil of me to murder him?
I would do it for the sake of humanity after all, and yet I would murder him, which would be evil in your eyes.
I would personally suggest going to the official wiki, while some of the stuff is sadly incorrect/speculations it is the best source at this time.
That’s over-simplifying the issue. There is such a thing as objective morality.
No there isnt.
And saying there is would be over-simplifying the issue
