I’m on LS season 2, episode 2 “Entanglement”, trying to do the instance called “Scarlet’s Secret Room”
When I attempt to enter the instance, I sit on splash screen for literally several minutes before a white screen and this message:
“The game client lost its connection to the server. Please wait a few minutes before restarting the client and trying again. (Code=7:0:0:794:101)”
I click OK, it exits to Desktop. GW2 restarts automatically and I log back in. I double-click my character to start the game, I get a really quick Dry Top splash screen, and then a white screen with this message:
“The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications, or connecting through a campus network. For additional support, please vist http://support.guildwars2.com.
(Code=19:9:18:1583:101)”
I click OK, it exits to Desktop and GW2 restarts automatically. I log back on, double-click on my character and I’m standing in Dry Top next to the story instance.
If I try the story instance again, the cycle starts over.
So the ascended armor is out. Would the cele ring be better than an exotic zerker? I have the tokens and gold for exotic gear. I’m thinking zerker with either Hoelbrak or Pack runes.
I’m in a PvX guild that doesn’t have a big WvW presence, so I’m normally PUGing it. Finding a group isn’t easy. Seems most people don’t want back liners. Maybe i should try shouting “Necro LFG”.
I’ve played a lot of WvW but very little on Necro. Yesterday I decided to give it a try. I found this build (http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Necromancer_-_Wells_Backline) and just dove in. Current gear is zerker with ruby orbs, mostly yellow with a couple exotic pieces.
I’d like to hear any advice you guys can give.
Also, in my bank I found cele ring and an ascended chest for power/precision/condition dmg stats. Would either of those two work well?
TIA
In blob vs blob, i just don’t see D/D as a good choice.
…
Aggro in gw2 works differently,
…
You can say that again. I can’t count the number of times I’ve attacked a mob and it ran from me and attacked someone else.
I’ve been running the condition interrupt variant with some success, except against condition Necros. They just eat me alive. Anyone have any suggestions?
Have you tried:

Before seeing this thread, I never really gave duelling Mesmers much thought. Then tonight I faced a pair of identical twin PU Mesmers. That was a trip!
Way back when the scavenger hunt was announced, a lot of people thought the hunt would be so difficult that it would be easier to farm gold and buy off TP still.

I’m gonna bet on either April 28th or end of May. I don’t see it keeping until August, barring major issues.
I agree, August seems too far.
Per the mmorpg.com interview:
“All collections are account-based, so there’s one collection per precursor per account”
I forgot the balance patch, so I forgot to be disappointed. /sigh
I don’t see the value of using them.
What if we get mainhand mace instead of mainhand pistol X) and the mace becomes a ranged weapon like greatsword XD?
Wouldn’t that be a lot like scepter ?
If you PUG dungeons, be prepared for some massive grief.
Pretty much what Ross said.
I’ve never considered GS necessary for WvW. In the beginning, I felt the Staff was mandatory, but I’ve moved past that.
Thanks guys. I think I’ll just throw it in my bank and see if things change later.
…
If Guild Halls aren’t your thing that’s great, but I’m getting this really pointed tone when you address the first game and I don’t understand the reasoning behind it. People in this thread have already laid out why they were such a boon in Guild Wars 1.
I wasn’t trying to be down on GW1 or start a GW1 vs GW2 war. Just pointing out that in GW2 many of the practical benefits of GW1 guild halls aren’t really applicable.
…
The short of it is; don’t discount it simply because “you don’t get it” because from where I’m sitting…it kind of seems like you’re a bit more of a solo MMORPG player than a social one.
True enough. Given the choice, I would have opted for a non-MMO version of GW2. That being said, I know that a lot of people highly value the social aspect of gaming. If someone says, “guild halls are for socializing”, I’m OK with that. On the other hand, if someone says “guild halls are great”, I’m left wondering what’s so great about them.
So far, here are the reasons I’m hearing:
1. GW1 nostalgia
2. Amenities, most of what are already in-game
3. Social/RP
THe points is : It was and would have been one of the best features of the game
…
Please elaborate. So far all we’ve established that guild halls bring to GW2 is a place for RP’ing and socializing. If those are your thing, great, but you have to be aware that not everyone feels that way.
I pre-ordered GW2 with no prior Guild Wars experience. Since then GW1 vets have been demanding guild halls. From what I’ve heard, i don’t think they really have a place in GW2. What am i missing?
It’s a Guild Hall thing, you wouldn’t understand.
“you wouldn’t understand” pretty much sums up all of GW1, but this isn’t GW1.
…
If they have access to banks, merchants, crafting stations, perhaps portals to capital cities…this all seems very useful.
…
WvW has offered most of those since release, unless there’s a queue (which is probably very rare these days).
I’ll start an Asura Revenant first, and level her up the old fashioned way. If that turns sour, my Sylvari Mesmer will step in.
Guild parties! There’d be a planned time and everyone in the guild would come to the hall, and dance and socialize and have contests! This is especially good for big guilds, and in GW1 was good for Alliances (several guilds were under an alliance), because the guilds could all get together and make new friends
To each his own, I guess.
So it’s a social/RP thing. The amenities people talk about don’t seem as applicable to GW2 as they apparently were to GW1.
Early yesterday, i finished my “last” Legendary, and i did a happy dance that i was done with Legendary weapons.
My first thought after watching the announcement was, “i need another world completion”. /sigh

I think the Mesmer shield comment was in response to me saying the only official announcement was the Necro GS, not necessarily that the shield was our only new weapon.
…
only thing that’s even remotely acceptable is the precursor crafting they been working on for over 1 year.
…
IIRC, it’s been two years.
Barring something catastrophic, I’ll be buying. Hopefully it’ll include at least one character slot. Otherwise I guess I’ll be buying one as well.
AFAIK, the only official announcement was Necro GS. Too soon to start lamenting no new MH.
Returning player LF guild. I played from BWE1 thru the Spring 2014 WvW tournament. I came back a couple weeks ago and thought “why the heck did I ever leave!”
I was in a tiny guild before that could never muster enough people to run any group content. I’m looking for a guild that has enough people to actually do that PvE group content. Playtime is US Central evenings plus weekends. Voice chat is not a problem when we’re actually running stuff.
I also WvW. I’m OK with zerging when coerced but prefer roaming or havoc.
I have a friend who’s also returning that will need a new home.
My roamer runs a condition interrupt build (recently switched over from condition PU). Her armor is all Precision/Toughness/Condition Damage, with Perplexity runes.
Yesterday, she got an Ascended chest drop. Once I recovered from the shock, I opened it up and saw it was Power/Precision/Condition Damage gear.
Two questions:
1. Should I wear it?
2. If so, which piece? I seem to recall reading somewhere that the legs give the most bang-for-your-buck. I’m not sure if that’s talking about crafting from mats or what.
TIA
…
What you got caught with is Illusionary Leap (Sword 3) into Blurred Frenzy(sword 2) into Shatter. The sword leap immobilizes and creates a clone, and the rest is clockwork.
…
That is a textbook move. Of course, seasoned players know to expect it.
Spear would give a second melee set.
The wording is vague, and I don’t think we can say for certain whether the attack will be faster or slower.
For PvE, I used to use a Sw/Sw & Sw/F Phantasm build, similar to this build (http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Mesmer_-_Fractal_Phantasm). I recently dropped the OH Sword because #4 spawns a clone which can overwrite a phantasm.
My Sylvari Mesmer’s outfit just kind of fell into place.
My Asura on the other hand, was completely planned. I farmed CM and CoE tokens and dropped 10 gold on dye.
Dear Santa,
I’ve been a good Mesmer this year. I interrupt enemy stomps and don’t troll friendlies with indiscriminate knock backs and i never Mass Invis when we’re trying to cap a point. Somehow, you forgot me last Christmas. You can still make it up to me though. All i want for this xpac is a new melee weapon, a good one.
Sincerely,
lujate

Phantasm builds don’t want DE.
Well that makes sense.
Thx
What kind of WvW (solo roaming, havoc or zerg)?
I’ve been away for about 8 months. Before my hiatus, for some reason i re-spec’d my PvE Mesmer to go shatter. I don’t care for shatter, so I’m going back to phantasm where i belong. I looked up builds in case things had changed dramatically. Nothing surprising regarding traits, but i saw people recommending the signet heal. When it first came out, most people thought it was a joke. Have things changed? Is it now a better choice than Ether Feast?
My current gear is over a year old (except for the one Ascended piece i must have bought at some point). I’ll be getting a Cavalier back piece just as soon as i find the temple open. I’ll be looking at runes once i settle on a build. I’m planning on looking at jewelry at the same time.
Thanks so much! I’ll give that build a try.
You’re right, the gear linked is what a currently have. Once I settle on a build, I’m going to re-gear as best I can afford. Unless a precusror falls in my lap, I don’t think I’ll be able to afford Strength runes any time soon.
Here’s the S/D build I’ve pieced together:
http://tinyurl.com/pgr93hy
Thanks guys, that sounds simple enough. All I have to do is practice to get the timing down.
I figure I’ll have a few hours to play on Saturday and Sunday, so I’m going to try a Sword build and a Dagger build and see which works better for me. Here’s what I have so far:
D/P: http://tinyurl.com/ns6h5or
Still working on the S/D build.
…
If you do end up with d/p or d/d (harder than d/p but still ok) then make sure you know stomping techniques like shadow step, BP, CnD, using steal for thieves, etc as thats a huge part of fighting multiples, getting the first guy all the way defeated before his friends can Rez him. If you need me to elaborate a bit in that, just let me know
Elaborate please
Dagger does better against mult enemies? I’d have thought Sword because of the cleave.
I was looking for a Sword build but couldn’t really find one (a smart man might have taken that as a sign). It seems that P/D is all the rage right now.
