Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water… They drop the skill changes.
About 08:30pm PDT, myself am a few guildies were killed on TC BL. We respawned and ended up on FA BL.
For utilities, I go Mimic, Blink & Signet.
I think dropping GS for Focus is fascinating.
EotM is still server vs server vs server. It just uses mega server so people from different servers are combined.
3-5 man?
stay with pvp
Roaming is about fights, while sPvP is about gaming for points.
I personally don’t see a huge distinction between roaming builds and builds for focus/gank/pick groups in larger fights. For more generic “running with the pack” kind of play don’t go with condie PU. For that, it’s more just GS cleave and hoping your team carries the fight.
You could try this build:
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Mesmer_-_PU_Condi_Roamer
In group fights, you’d linger around the fringes of the fight, picking off fish that stray too far from the safety of the school.
Portaling into keeps most often goes like this. The Mesmer hides inside when an enemy takes the keep. After the enemy forces leave, the Mesmer comes out of hiding of Portasls the friendly forces in.
Guardian/Dragonhunter.
How in the world do you imagine spawn camping would be beneficial for the game?
What’s odd about pointing out that Gravity Well is an elite skill?
@Supreme Okay… I’ll just take your word on it then. I didn’t realized eles had gone downhill in roaming.
@ Infusion. Well, Gravity Well has a 900 range, and if you manage to stunbreak out before the last beat you can get out largely unscathed. Not saying it’s okay either, but I think it’s not as badly designed.
And Gravity Well is an Elite not a weapon skill.
I’m pretty sure the Heroics were always soul bound. Initially the chests were account bound so you could move them between toons. Then ANet made the chests soul bound.
Friendly:
Some people feel roamers take valuable spots from zerglings.
Enemy:
Most often it’s just like dogs, if you run they’re going to chase. If you pick off too many stragglers or solo replacements, they may go out of their way to stomp you.
…
I’m with you. The sad truth is that anyone who runs Mesmer in group WvW will learn that probably the best thing they can do for their group is run one of the darling classes instead.
Lool sorry :P
Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTvC5aMHrSMOk now that ive seen you play. What is it that your doing better than elementalist or necromancer or even revenant, to justify your space in raid/map, since you are not using any of special mesmer mechanics(veil, portal). Only thing i can think of is gravity well, but is that realy enough.
I just want to know your oppiniong, becouse i realy think mesmer is only realy usefull for gimics, even boonshare in guild teams is kinda gimicky. And all of this relies on our utilities.
Dam, you don’t pull any punches, do you!
Maybe it was needed back in the day, when there was high population in WvW servers. But now, I think I see more people in EoTM than I do in WvW maps.
If Anet are true to their word and want to see WvW good again (i know, a little hard to believe right now), they must consider this.
EoTM is sucking WvW population. More so for the lower tier servers maybe. As you can go there to find more people from more servers. If there is a queue on all WvW maps, then and only then should EoTM be open, and for a shorter time, maybe 2 hours or an hour. If there is no queue for WvW. EoTM should be locked out. We are spreading what little WvW players we still have too thin.
Unless Anet has something new planed to fix the WvW/server population. This would be one way to start.
If EOTM is actually siphoning WvW players away from traditional WvW maps, the solution is not to eliminate EOTM. The solution is to find out what in EOTM appeals to those players and incorporate those things into the traditional maps.
As far as glamour goes, again, gutted for dueling. Still the most powerful mesmer build in group play WvW and is frequently sought-after.
That’s awfully disingenuous. Nobody cares about a glamour build, they just want veil and portal on demand like they always have. You could be naked with no weapons or traits and still be just as useful as long as you veil in front and portal when told.
QFT
Be careful with the healing well that you don’t overwrite water fields.
Some people claim the Mesmer boon bots are OP (like Venoms). Personally I didn’t find boon sharing that powerful, but maybe I didn’t have a good build.
I’m running zerker gear because I don’t think for the most part the extra protection would make any difference. If you get hit by an 18-wheeler on the highway, it’s probably not going to matter whether or not you were wearing a bike helmet.
Do people still do GvG’s in guild halls? We did for about a month after HoT but quickly moved back to OS.
T3 is in a bad place right now, so we’ve been spending more time in EOTM, and have had a surprising number of impromptu GvG’s. Last night, the opposing guild had a good gank team they used to a deadly effect.
My Asura Mesmers aren’t allowed to use GS because of how much I dislike that animation.
Welcome to every other profession with a shield.
True… /sigh
My Sylvari has a top that’s mostly backless so she can show off her glowing marks. Shield totally ruins that.
I’m afraid we’re going to have to “suck it up” because i highly doubt they’ll be changing this.
I’m sure it’s just a matter of learning the new meta, but WvW seems rough these days. I run with a 10-15 man guild group. Before HoT, I was in a good place. Now not so much. The pulls are just ridiculous. Maybe I should use F5 to double up on Blinks…
I get this all the time if I login to post and don’t click logout. Next time I visit the forums, they see my expired login and won’t let me even view them. I just always try and remember to click logout.
You can now earn PvE levels thru sPvP, so it’s a reasonable question.
Can I earn Hero Points in sPvP?
(I know you can in PvE & WvW).
I don’t see that the accepted answer addresses the CoF question.
This sounds to me like the milking of adds in group events in Orr that was a thing for awhile. ANet took a dim view of that and nerfed it. Were there bans, i think so but can’t remember for certain.
The ‘huge amount of rage’ after the last update was in response to the changes to Necro’s scepter. Mesmers would also like their Scepter skills improved. Specifically, most would agree that the Clone produced from the AA is a hindrance to the scepter’s overall function and would prefer it removed.
Probably that too, but there was also a stink about Malicious Sorcery.
I just remember a huge amount of rage after the last big change. People were going on about it being bugged.
Anyone know if Malicious Sorcery is working properly now?
No amount of content will fix god awful game play. I suffered thru a week of GW1 because my friend said, “give it a chance”. I wish I’d quit after only an hour.
IMHO, no it is not.
I for one couldn’t care less about gliding and would love more real underwater content.
Players happened. A large amount of players have gravitated to the most efficient farming spots, and ANet seems to be catering to that group to a certain extent.
Traditional raids are famous (or infamous depending on your perspective) for excluding a large portion of the player base due to the difficulty involved and the time required. It remains to be seen what spin ANet takes on raids.
So conjured & spirit weapons are fine.
Necromancy is fine.
Illusions that stab people and explode are fine.
Fire falling from the sky is fine.
But that scythe is too big, it’s unrealistic.
I was running Reapers Onslaught. You’re probably right about Blighters Boon.
I think he’s joking.
Single target burst DPS.
Try to pick off the enemy back line, particularly Ele’s.
I played WildStar during a hiatus from GW2. They said they had a large number of solo players (IIRC, they gave actual percentages), so they added a solo raid. Personally, I don’t think it was difficult enough to be called a raid, but I do know a lot of people struggled with getting gold reward.
FWIW, I just started the HoT beta story today. Ranged mobs come in packs of a half dozen and each hit in the upper 2K’s to the lower 4K’s. Bosses will 2-shot you. That’s harder than anything else I can remember in GW2.
I think the lack of an invulvn skill is a problem, as is the lack of a leap weapon skill.
Been playing since beta and I’ve never seen them before. /blush
Any know what they are? Has there been any kind of announcement?
I will say, I’ve never gotten so many bags before on Mesmer.
Here’s how it looked:
http://youtu.be/c1nQu3BJoGQ
Guess I’ll just start with my PVT Trooper runes Shouts Reaper I left off with last time.
Any new thoughts on this coming weekend?
I tried a zerker Sw/Sh & Staff Wells build in the last beta. At that time, I don’t think it would replace Necro.
In WvW zergs, right now we have two, somewhat overlapping, roles. First is for Veil/Portal. Second is for burst damage to take down enemy squishies.
You can chill in a PUG zerg, but you’ll probably not actually accomplish much.
I’d imagine 8/9am PST, sometime around then to give Anet staff time to get in office, quadruple triple check everything, then push the big red button
Often things launch at midnight PST, either that or at noon PST which would fit when they start the weekend events these days. And when you’re a game company there are plenty of people there not working easy cheesy 9-5 hours, most especially on the week of a new release launch.
My thoughts exactly, either midnight or noon.
