For something that would do OK in both dungeons and WvW, I’d think something like a GS & Sw/x phantasm build with Knight’s gear.
Female Asura here. Still looking for a good torch skin ^^
FWIW, I use Occultist Flame.
So Scepter may be getting a little TLC but have they said anything about Torch (particularly #5)?
I imagine Pyro is correct, the Mesmer distribution probably follows the overall distribution.
As for me, female Sylvari and female Asura. My friends have two female Humans, one male Sylvari and one female Asura.
As for the female Chart, how can you tell?

By blobbing, I mean the tactic that tries stack as many players as possible right on top of each other. These blobs of players then try to roll through the enemy, kind of like a bowling ball.
“Disorganized” might not have been the best word. Maybe just more spread out.
My friend used to play Thief in WvW, maining SB and using D/D for cleanup. She stopped playing Thief when they nerfed SB range and hasn’t kept up with all the changes. She’s taken up Thief again, but her build is way out of date. I was hoping someone could give us a hand.
TIA
There have been a few threads recently that have touched on this topic, but I feel it should be addressed directly.
As I see it, zerging falls into two categories:
1. Large disorganized spread out fights (in other words, non blobs)
2. Blobbing-where the friendly players fight all stacked right on top of each other
Next, what are we trying to accomplish? I think the objectives are:
1. Keep the good guys alive
2. Make the bad guys dead
I guess the question to discuss is what builds/tactics to use in the two types of zergs to best accomplish the two objectives.

I find builds like the Blackwater to do OK in large disorganized fights. If you find yourself in a blob however, you’ll probably be wishing for something else.
There is more than that “1 in 15 months”. Sadly Ranger pulls in all the Tolkien Aragorn and Legolas nostalgics that don’t put forth the effort it takes to play an effort required class well (unlike faceroll untargetting hammer spammers with LOLsignet healing).
I garontee. Eaten plenty of them hammerfacerollers on meh ranger.
I didn’t mean to imply that one guy is the only uber Ranger out there. Just that while they do exist, they are incredibly rare.
I love the ranger hate. You may not see many good roaming rangers, but once you encounter one and get crushed you will feel ashamed and never share that story. So all you read is the bearbow ranger rally meat stories.
You got that right. I ran into a solo Ranger last weekend that started a 1v2. He didn’t win, but wow that guy was good. Of course, that was one Ranger in what, 15 months?
I’ve seen that too. I guess it was about a month ago. An enemy Thief was attacking the TP guy. The Thief disappeared as soon as he saw me. The TP guy was bugged for the rest of the match.
Decoy has a different icon than other Stealth, so i think we can safely assume it is intended to work differently.
I just started using Feedback again, and the Retaliation is no where near as bad as it used to be.
Only allow combo’s to work while in combat.
That would be interesting.
Zergs typically chain-cast swiftness, so IMHO Traveler Runes would be a luxury item, not a requirement.
I’d say go Knights/Rabid gear, or maybe even Soldiers.
I would probably avoid condition builds since they often have trouble catching runners. I had good luck when I ran a Phantasm build. It may be dated now, but it was 10/30/0/30/0 with Sword/Sword & GS. Knight’s gear would also help your survivability. Hold on to the Berserker’s though, because you might want it back later.
#1, sell a kidney and buy Traveler runes.
I feel more like SBI is prepping and refining in wait for FA. As long as we don’t overlook people along the way, I expect a better showing in the next showdown.
well according to the schedule there wont be a next showdown during this first league set up. gonna have to wait for the next league start.
Round 7 11/29 thru 12/5
Silver Dragonbrand Fort Aspenwood Stormbluff Isle
I’m using a variant of this build:
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/84947-mesmerizing-the-enemy-guide-to-mesmer-swordx-dps-builds/
I use Sword/Sword & Sword/Focus, but you could probably use it Sword/Sword & GS.
i dont think the OP has realised about the 25 bleed stack trick xD well not a trick but you get what i mean, no one should be able to keep 25 stacks independently therefore the trident is….OP lol
25 bleed stack trick….? what are you talking about…?
I assume he means something like #3, Dodge, Dodge, AA. With the Trident bleeds and Sharper Images, it’s easy to stack high bleeds.
There is still fun to be had. Just tried to 2-man Danelon. Who’d thought so many players would respond so quickly. The outcome was predictable, but the fight made our night.
…
8) We are veil bots / ethereal field applying bots (for chaos armor) and don’t offer much else
IMO, you can scratch Chaos Armor off that list. The only fields I see people wanting are Fire or Water.
Maybe they consider condition builds to be in with shatter?
While it’s true you don’t want a #1 skill so good people just spam it, but right now I’ll often pop Torch #4 and just wait for weapon swap rather than use Scepter #1.
What will go Down to adept when blade training is a master trait? Would be funny if It’d be DE :P
O_o
Blade Training? Did I miss something?
Someone in this thread wrote that they want to put all weapon traits on master tier. Some posts above mine. I don’t know what’s true about this. My post was only fun
Moving Blade Training up to Master would hurt, because they most certainly won’t move DE down.

Well hmm… I might just have to try 0/20/30/0/20, although I’m sure I’d miss my Torch condition removal.
Some technical difficulties to start the match for sure, although they worked out for me. I can’ t remember the last time I made it on to EB for reset. Last night, I was treading water in PvE like most reset nights, hoping for some miracle to cause my queue to pop. I got the black screen bug and had to restart. Re-queued and my friend and I who’d been queued since reset got into EB in less than a minute.
To the BEAST commander on EB (Al, IIRC), two things:
1. Dude, you rock!
2. You might want to switch to decaf.
We had some fun last night on the NSP map running with a little pug zerg under the Outmanned buff after the big guilds left.
The potential for griefing would be enormous if there was friendly fire.
Voice chat is great, encourage its use.
Not everyone will use voice chat though. Type as much as you can, at a bare minimum where you’re going and what you’re doing. Ignoring those people not on voice is just hurting yourself.
Try and keep in mind why people are following you. A lot probably are just in it for the rewards. If there is not enough payoff, your zerg will start to dwindle.
When possible, pause before objectives. This will allow stragglers to catch up.
Have thick skin and patience. People will screw up and/or be complete idiots.
People have just given up complaining about it.
Skills prioritizing party members seems fair, as long as players not in party prioritize other solo players.
1. Server population issues
2. Profession balance
3. Incentive to defend
I started playing some sPvP thinking it would help with 1v1. Ironically enough, sPvP seemed more zerg-y most of the time than WvW.
…
For as harsh as it sounds, warrior, thief, necro or don’t bother roaming. Those 3 classes are at the top and if you play anything else you are putting yourself at a disadvantage.
…
I’m with you on Thief and Necro, but Warrior?
Build 1 and Supply 4 would be a good start. I am not so sure about Repair 1, but i guess it is cheap.
Beyond that, it really depends on you. If you find yourself using siege occasionally, unlock some off the weapon skills. If not, Siege Bunker would probably be the next best choice.
Is it just me, or did SBI take the night off?
Nope – this is the real SBI. I think every serious poster from SBI (Bannok being the most knowledgeable IMO) said that we probably overperformed and we could use a cold shower.
And Mag/FA were tickled and came out to play. It will get fun.
I hope not. No commander on EB and can’t even hold keeps and northern towers on our own map.
Is it just me, or did SBI take the night off?
How about a couple of examples.
Green that vendors for 2sp
Blue that TP’s for 1.5sp.
Salvage for luck or sell? You make the call.
Now that we can salvage luck from items, the big question is “what to salvage and what to sell?”
What are your thoughts?
I thought the same thing. They changed?
#1. My limited testing (back in the spring) showed GS did almost 20% damage than Scepter/Sword when at max range. The lead falls below 10% at melee range.
#2. You might get more DPS using Pistol instead of OH Sword.
“Do, or do not. There is no try.”
:sigh: OK, pass me the torch…
Thanks for all the input guys.
There’s no harm in waiting. The average player would probably take 3-6 months, so you don’t have to decide now.
Of the two choices though, The Bifrost by a huge margin. Heck, I’d probably consider an off-hand before Meteorlogicus.
AFAIK, Meteorlogicus has no footprints and no particle effects. I doubt anyone but you would even know you had it.
Most of my WvW has been duo roaming and I’m running Mantra of Resolve, Blink, Signet of Illusions and TW. When I die, it’s normally at the bottom of a dog pile, and I doubt stealth or anything else would have made a difference.
I think Warden’s Feedback would definitely win the popularity contest.
Helios,
I didn’t mean that in a bad way. Typical==Popular
Dhampyr,
OMG! I can’t believe I never saw that before. Stealth is probably why I’ve never done much with Torch.
I’ve been playing Mesmer since BWE1, most of it with GS & Sword. I’m looking to leave behind those familiar weapons and try something different. I came up with Staff, Scepter and Torch as my least used weapons.
Most shatter builds use Sword, so I thought condition. Looking at condition builds, most of them use stealth, which I’ve never really been found of. Guess I could try it yet again, or maybe something with Pistol…
Dhampyr,
Thanks, but I am also trying to get away from Sword (which is why I’m not looking at shatter builds). The 10 pts in Illusions looks interesting though.
Helios,
Unless i missed something, that looks like a typical PU stealth build.
