You didn’t even read the thread so I’m not even going to bother responding
You’re comparing one fight to a weapon used in every single dungeon. Yes, if you could make bosses in every single dungeon commit suicide with feedback I would want it nerfed, but that isn’t the case.
Fighting lupicus normally is far more interesting than throwing him in to a wall and pressing 4 to win.
Considering I mentioned replacing the ele with an engi of all things, I don’t think you’re missing out on much aoe. Larger blind area just seems completely pointless. Engis have CC condis and projectile defense as well – working alongside the guard you should have no problem maintaining it.
Ok so let me get this straight OP. Your signature says you’re from DnT, now I don’t know much about the “hardcore pve scene”, but I believe those guys are known for speedclearing stuff extremely efficiently and quick (correct me if I’m wrong).
Why would you want to remove FGS 4?
Are other guilds catching up to your “records” by using this “cheese” perhaps?
Do you enjoy longer PvE fights?
Or maybe you guys never run elementalists, so you feel you’re at a disadvantage?I honestly don’t understand why would you care.
I’m guessing that was aimed at me since the OP isn’t in that guild. Here’s the thing – yes we’re speed clearers, but we all have our own opinions on things, and sure, efficiency is great and I like maximising my DPS, but when it makes pve completely un fun and basic, I don’t think it’s strange that I would complain about it. For the record – I’m giving my own opinion, not a guild opinion.
fixing thread.
Here is why – the power level is completely out of whack with anything else and the meta is now completely stale. Warrior for banners? Nah, take another ele. Guard for defensive utilities? Nah, take another ele. SE p1 and p3 would basically be 5-ele records if if weren’t for portal tricks. It’s like you enjoy the game being boring or something.
The meta … for dungeons!
Which are terrible. We all know that. You are trying to fix the symptoms, not the problem.
Dungeons are fine, just old. If people actually had to wake up and press dodge every now and then they might find dungeons more interesting than brain afk’ing with conjures.
Nice hyperbole. I’m starting to feel like Guang here, I express a view which is in contrast to elementalist fellatio and I get a bunch of people frothing at me. It feels like I’m posting in the guild wars 2 discussion forum with the amount of stupidity flying around.

Cut the staff ele for an engi – tadaa, similar dps but you actually have vuln stacking on top of it!
No, you do not provide more might than a phalanx warrior. Here’s the thing – ele ha uses, but I’ve already mentioned other classes can cover them. It’s like saying a mes is good because they have reflect, CC and condi cleanse. Well yeah, they do, but so do guardians. I find it hard to rank a completely replaceable class as #1.
I honestly think engi, guard, thief, double warrior is a solid comp and has the benefit of no squishy classes . Adding an ele just adds risk for not much gain.
Its not irrelevant when you consider warriors dps compared to other classes in a group setting. They still have that ridiculous survivability. I admit fgs is over the top damage. But it only becomes a problem in dungeons. In fractals it is incredibly risky to use effectively. That said, i wouldnt be against a damage per tick nerf. But fgs should still provide huge burst.
Survivability is like a complete non issue in organised groups, you just brain afk roll everything, which is why you get these world records with 4 eles. So let’s see, everyone has might and fury so self buffing of warrior is irrelevant, but then eles have this weapon that lets a party do four parties worth of DPS to a boss. If FGS should be used as a burst weapon, half the DPS of the rush ticks and set it on a 30s cd. That way you can do double the DPS of a normal player rather than quadruple, and you can’t just wave it around waiting for rush to come off cd otherwise your dps plummets – so you end up with a powerful burst weapon which you basically fire and drop afterwards. Then again that doesn’t really solve anything and people will just stack eles as usual, so maybe just force it to have a target and be done with it.
You all keep ignoring that you can cover everything an ele is worth taking for in a non-ele composition.
I feel people are completely over valuing the effectiveness of fiery crutchsword in fractals. I had a quick think about the fights and bosses and you don’t actually spend as much time sitting in corners as you do in dungeons. I mean the chances of getting rushes off on ashym or the thaumanova anomaly are like, zero. I would put my rankings as like guardian > engi > thief > warrior > mesmer > ele or something.
Warrior has the most over the top self buffing alongside the best survivability. Its much harder to get a good solo with ele fgs than it is on warrior. But if you pull it off then it is considerably faster.
Irrelevant. The game is designed around group play, not solo. And in group play, a party dealing the equivalent of 20 players worth of damage is broken beyond belief.
Are you comparing one class’ survivability to a weapon that let’s one person output the damage four players can? Elementalists have plenty of active mitigation anyway, so I don’t know where the problem is.
Best don’t know, worst definitely Guardians Scepter.
GUARDIANS SHOULD NOT HAVE RANGED WEAPONS PERIOD.
Guardian scepter is like the highest ranged dps in the entire game.
I’m not seeing how there’s anything anet can do to fix a weapon allowing a five man party to have the DPS of 20 players. There is literally nothing anet can do about that besides throttling the damage. To blame the dungeons themselves is absolutely laughable too, HP pools should not have to be thrown up just so FGS rushes can’t explode bosses, they should just deal with the problem itself.

When I went to Europe for a week and pugged, someone I met while carrying a group (with them in it) in arah afterwards made a warrior and named it after mine, so I have no problem with euro pugs at all. They also seemed a lot more grateful when I sold paths.
Ranger condi lupicus kills are faster than direct damage as far as I’m aware. Belka has lower duration of burning so that possibly makes direct damage pull ahead for that fight, and alphard has extremely low condition uptime so it’s not even an option there. Brie, well you’re not going to be bursting her in the 90 seconds time limit like warriors can so you would have to kill the 3 waves. I would honesty experiment with both condition and direct damage, the results may surprise you.
No it wouldn’t. Builds are already tight on trait choices, what would end up happening is condition builds miss out on something to make their build stronger because they have to take a passive on-crit trait instead of something else, and then direct damage builds either don’t change in the slightest or they move a couple points around.
Here’s the problem – condition damage builds are able to perform a solid 6 – 6,500 DPS, but direct damage builds do 10 – 15,000 DPS. You are never going to be able to bridge that gap.
Don’t you realise that condition builds use these traits too? You’re basically suggesting a fix to something already weak by nerfing it.
nice paddle on your back
Thrill of the crime and FGJ. If you go double warrior, well that’s double FGJ. And phalanx warrior just needs to press 2 to might stack, it’s just easy access. If you want to pre stack, well they can just go gs/lb or go gs/axe mace and swap out the gs and mace quickly for fire and/or blasts. I see fractals as something where there’s actually damage that will go through, and a warrior will cope with that and maintain rotation easier than an ele which will just get tickled and explode. Hell you could probably even go 3w/1g/1t and brain afk faceroll everything, that ancient class comp actually has pretty competitive dps, spades and spades of survivability and pretty much all of the relevant support functions covered.

So let’s see. Thieves provide blinds and stealth, guardians provide projectile defense, aegis, blinds, CC, protection. Warriors provide passive buffs through banners, maybe EA. Engineer can do projectile defense, vuln stacking, stealth, CC. Warrior or engi can handle might easy, especially if it’s a phalanx warrior. On top of that, they’re all pretty tanky classes unlike ele so they can take a hit when damage inevitably goes through. Mesmer works for little portal gimmicks and I suppose is a nice QoL class. Seems to me an ele is just a filler class where you can take them because … well why not.
I don’t even know what an ele offers to make it #1/#2.
elementalists effective in fractals ahahahahahahahahahaha
I kind of want someone to do a hammer abomination kill now. It’s the perfect boss to perform vacuum rotations on so if the hammer kill is noticeably longer or on par with Greatsword then we can see what the damage difference is.
Stacking is not glitching.
Killing mobs quickly is not glitching.
You actually didn’t at all from what I can see. Would you mind quoting the relevant text? Because whenever I’ve asked people about glitching bosses I’ve only had one person give examples, and 3 out of 4 of them were completely incorrect besides the aforementioned TA champion.
butbutbut my condis
met·a
?met?/
noun: meta; plural noun: metas
1.short for meta key.
adjective: meta
1. (of a creative work) referring to itself or to the conventions of its genre; self-referential.My own personal definition: Meta is a word used by players in the place of “I want bigger numbers” or “bring back cookie cutter builds”
I agree that when you stack/glitch mobs the GS is by far the best for damage output. Stacking/Glitching also do speed things up. I take full advantage of these methods along with a GS when I’m feeling lazy. Again, It just comes down to personal play style.
I run up to a mob with my Greatsword and start hitting it. It takes damage. What part of this is stacking and glitching? The only example I can even think of where legitimate glitching is involved is the champion in TA before the nightmare tree. Out of hundreds of bosses in the game that is the only example I can think of.
That awkward moment when you’re on your phone talking to guildies in mumble, you take a leak and everyone hears it since you’re talking at the same time uguuuuuuuuuuu
You would strip the boon first obviously.
You can solo dungeons in games like WOW and Tera so I’m not sure why it’s a big problem that you can in GW2.
9:35 hambow solo. Do a naked gs one faster.
If that’s the case why is it I can join groups on my condition spec and nothing happens? Why is it I get in to groups quickly and nobody asks about my gear?
I disagree with certain people therefore they are elitists
I’m beginning to see why you are being kicked from teams so often.
A weapon which enables you to deal the same damage as four players is not ‘fine as is’, no matter how you want to spin it.
Oh sure it is, because people who use berserker gear are sub humans who deserve to be mocked, ridiculed and trolled by the rest of the community, doing their holy work of purging the game of filthy DPS so we can all run afk healer and tank builds.
You’ve said we shouldn’t be able to sell but haven’t offered a reason why.
If I recall correctly, people who host tournaments want them to be watched.
So yeah, you should have put the link to the stream at the top of the OP or something.
Delete that video from your browser history and follow nike’s builds, PLEASE
As point of comparison, fully buffed classes not using fiery Greatsword deal around 10-15000DPS each. In that video they deal around triple that. My opinion isn’t popular, but I honestly wouldn’t mind anet outright deleting the conjure entirely, I make a point not to use it when I play ele.
Do you even play Mesmer? They are not wanted in pve. They are absolute garbage in pve. They’re literally the joke of my guild. They’re wanted in wvw for veil then you might as well get lost. In PvP, well I’d say the lack of mesmers at high level, and high level mesmers playing other classes says enough about how good it is there.
Funny, every party I’ve been in for dungeons and fractals wants Mesmers due to how much damage they can dish out, their ability to reflect every projectile back at the enemy regardless of direction it’s fired in (completely trivializes several bosses), their AoE condition/boon controlling (makes the golem boss in CoE a joke), the ability to half the damage everybody takes with the Phantasmal Defender, a line of stealth, etc. If your guild thinks they’re useless, then I’m sorry, but the people in your guild know not of what they speak of, and are probably (I’m saying this in the kindest terms) ignorant.
Mesmer has worse than average DPS, and that’s assuming even longer fights, on shorter fights (below 30s) their DPS is abysmal. Sounds like your parties are uninformed and don’t realise that mesmers are completely replaceable by guardian. As for boon removal on the COE golem you realise you can just kill the turret for protection? And I wasn’t aware that being in the guild that basically sets the meta game meant we were uninformed, maybe you should do a little research.
how do you even die against a boss with barely any hp and with the scaled up post-ferocity damage
