it doesn’t matter how jealous you are of sellers making more gold than you ever will

And that overly arrogant attitude is exactly the reason why i dont feel even a bit sorry for one of you pathsellers making a bad deal.

There’s two reasons I can think of for griefing a path seller. Jealousy or malice. Can you name me another? Can you even argue that any of these reasons are acceptable in any way?

Do you even play Mesmer? They are not wanted in pve. They are absolute garbage in pve. They’re literally the joke of my guild. They’re wanted in wvw for veil then you might as well get lost. In PvP, well I’d say the lack of mesmers at high level, and high level mesmers playing other classes says enough about how good it is there.

Rangers, the class getting big buffs , thieves which are used to an extent in all three game formats, and necros which are solid in wvw, have access to numerous solid PvP builds and capable of pulling off competitive dps in pve. Mesmer – the class which is completely phased out of PvP, absolute trash tier in open world an instancd pve (they are literally replaceable by a consumable) and in wvw you drop a veil and call it quits. So no. I’ve played Mesmer, I like Mesmer and wanted it to work, but it doesn’t. The OP is just a bad player who for dumped on by the worst class in the entire game and wants to just call them overpowered rather than try to improve.

Viable Open World GS build?

in Mesmer

Posted by: maha.7902

maha.7902

Here’s the deal: I like the GS, and even though I know it doesn’t get much love, I would like to use it as my main weapon.

Majority of mesmers in PvE open world use GS and Sword. GS haters and min-maxers are just too vocal and it makes new people confused.

Just change your Medic’s Feedback to Mender’s Purity and it’s a good build. Also, maybe Mantra of Resolve instead of Null Field. Have fun !

Allow me to add some clarity to this, since the “makes new people confused” is just outright deceptive.

Here’s the fact of the matter – anything works in open world. Literally use whatever you want in open world. Scepter, sword, GS, staff, anything.

But the thing is, relative to sword, greatsword DPS is bad. This is why you don’t want to be using greatsword in instances, because it’s a low DPS weapon despite the amount of white knights who will jump in saying that it isn’t. Though like I said, for open world, use whatever you want, trait how you want.

There’s also no point swapping out mantra of resolve for null field when mantra is instant cast and has a shorter cooldown, I don’t even know the rationale behind you suggesting that.

Zerker build not the only dmg build!!!

Other problem being that the old mobs so far are “zerker feed”. And the rank up system on scale up, increases HP and DMG greatly, and grant Unshakable on Champs, those stats being anti- Conditions, CC and Support. And more favoring the use of Berserker gear.

The new S2 living story mobs, Mordrem, have quite well undone it. Berserker is not best possible to use against them, since they deplete your health very quickly, if you’re not supported by CC and Support…

I hope ANet would also update the old mobs, Group content that is, to have such variety.

Huh? I kill them just fine with berserker gear.

Don’t tell them that, they’ll start complaining again once they realise it.

While the OP’s story kinda sucks, I’m even more shocked that he’d spend 1h30m to sell slots for AC Path 1 and then people bought those slots.

…The dungeon can be ran with a crappy PUG in like 15-20 minutes.

it’s like selling runs in the original GW1 to get to a town or outpost you didn’t have yet

Except they aren’t anything alike.

People like me may make a character but not want to level them doing tedious open world, so we can buy cheap AC paths to get easy levels.

Stacking in GW2

in Profession Balance

Posted by: maha.7902

maha.7902

I decided to write this post to express my opinion about the biggest flaw that destroys GW2.
I will try to describe it in as few words as possible.
The biggest GW2 problem is stacking.
You designed a mechanics that requires dynamic combat, dodging, movement and evades. You build everything around it. You promoted the game as being something truly new (and it is).
Why did you then decided to destroy this mechanics by allowing players to stack “on one pixel”. Why did you destroy everything that you have achieved by letting players sit on one spot, just around the corner, dropping guardian wall and hitting keys at random? Have you not seen how majority of ppl do dungeons? Stack wherever you can and bring the might!
Due to this, playing GW2 became tedious. We mostly watch the closest wall and millions of lights blinding us when we all use our skills when we literally sit on one pixel.
There is no positioning (apart from gathering on one pixel), no movement, no dynamic. Thus playing PvE requires almost no skill at all.
What I would like to see to change this state?
A solution that punishes stacking. If players are stacked for longer periods of time, mobs should hit 2x stronger and bosses 10x stronger. By stacking I mean 3 players at least (to avoid problems with reviving, if my friend is down I can resurrect him safely, but when someone else tries to do it at the same time we would be punished). I would like to see real, dynamic combat.
All dungeons are instances. You can make normal and hard mode so that less skilled and less experienced players can play dungeons as they are now. And those who desire more would try hard mode were stacking is severely punished and where you actually have dynamic combat.
What do you people think about that? I would like to hear your opinion. Are you bored with current combat mechanics?

Playing PvE requires no skill at all and yet the difference in clear time between good players and randoms is … well let’s just say the Arah p4 record is 20 minutes and people when getting dungeon master back in the day used to have 2 to 4 hour (if not longer) runs for it.

How about we don’t punish stacking since the whole point of this game’s combat is that we group closely together to share buffs? Or … you go on the LFG, post a no stack group and do that? Everyone wins.

Well, it does depend on the mob abilities, if they cannot create situations that would require Support, like heavy AoE, Area Denial and heavy conditions, no one will play as one if you can get away with it with just Berserker…

Playing with berserker gear doesn’t mean you don’t make use of support, in fact support is important to keep yourself alive and boost your damage output. Heavy aoe and area denial fights already exist in this game and you can beat them as a glass cannon too. So I’ll ask again, how is defiant anti support?

How necessary are strength runes for soloing?

in Warrior

Posted by: maha.7902

maha.7902

Hello there!

I am very new to dungeon soloing, and have watched a few videos, and it constantly seems that I am doing a pitiful amount of damage comparatively, (especially on hundred blades).

Compared to scholar runes, would strength runes make a huge amount of difference? (A couple thousand damage per second, I would say) or is it simply inexperience? Because inexperience can be fixed. 83g cannot, easily. Haha

Edit: I ask primarily because I heard scholar is better for group play, which I do far more often than solo, so I worry it would be a waste of money in group play.

If you find their hundred blades doing more damage, take note of whether they start it with a lot of might (you can hit 40k+ on medium armour targets if you start your hb at high might stacks), have bloodlust stacks, are using signet of might, have banner of discipline and if the boss has any vulnerability.

Like, you might hit some dismal 18k on Lupicus and then watch someone else do a 30k but they will have bloodlust, high might, vuln, dragon breath bun proc, discipline banner, attack of opportunity and stick and move damage modifiers active.

Under an hour lol.

Out of the several dozen times that I’ve sold P4, it’s only taken under an hour to do the path + get all of the buyers ONCE. It takes on average several hours to sell all four slots.

You can run a p2, 3 or 1 around reset hours on NA servers and your group will fill very quickly. p4 was never worth selling due to the scarcity of buyers in comparison to other paths.

GW1 = more build diversity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: maha.7902

maha.7902

If Arenanet hadn’t abandoned it years ago I would still be playing it. Now I play neither.

I’m pretty sure you can still play it, and enjoy all of these amazing builds.

Instead, what you have here is singularity in pve (damage) and some sort of a duality in pvp (bunker & damage). Seems to me you have ascended indeed … downwards, that is.

Seems to me you’ve completely ignored support in PvE. You know, blinds, blocks, reflects, might, fury, banners, frost spirit/empower allies/spotter, cleansing, protection. You’ve also ignored CC – stuff like interrupting major boss attacks, positioning bosses/mobs, interrupting trash mobs.

Moreover, mobs in GW actually posed a threat and often required specific tactics to be dealt with.

There are also elite mobs in GW2 that pose a threat. Ascalonian elementalists, ascalonian necromancers, basically everything in CM, Nightmare Knights in TA, the inquest elites in SE p1, icebrood wolves in COE, a lot of things in COF, pretty much every single elite in Arah.

but the pve is devoid of any kind of depth – roll damage with aoe, dodge a couple of insta-gib mob attacks, rez up whoever spammed too many dodges (or has no vig), and thats it. Or just autospam in zergs.

Sure, let’s throw as much condescending language as possible to try and make all of GW2 sound trivial. Well here’s two points:

1. The game’s dungeons have been out for two years and had almost no changes. If people didn’t faceroll them I’d be surprised.

2. Despite them being out for two years … people still don’t faceroll them. People buy Arah paths because most people are just plain bad at it. People still wipe on scaled down dungeons despite the damage being throttled up thanks to ferocity because they’re just … not good at them.

Like I said, if GW1 is such a holy grail of gaming, play it. It’s still there.

GW1 = more build diversity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: maha.7902

maha.7902

I can’t believe I missed this thread! If you are saying GW2 is more build diverse you are nuts and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Just stating facts.

Perfect Example: Elementalist. I could Heal and Tank(at the same time no less on an ele ) UW with a Protective Bond/Ether Renewal build. When I was done I could 600 on my Ele and duo clear maps like Mirror of Lyss. I could go into RA with any number of builds like a Mind Blast nuker, a blinder, or Air Magic Burst. I could then go into Hard Mode Nahpui Quarter with a Sliver Armor build and that’s just ele oh and I forgot the HM solo Vaettir Farm that could be done with a similar Sliver Armor build, but totally a variation. I have left out myriad other builds for the class that totally worked including builds for HA, Prophecies, and EotN.

It’s not even a contest: GW1 wins hands down with build diversity and classes got full skill passes as well. Something GW2 totally ignores, sadly. Sometimes you don’t need balance patches, but shifts in meta to keep the game fresh. I wish ArenaNet was cognizant of that

heal and tank builds? You mean those trinity roles that don’t even exist in this game? I still wonder why these GW1 worshippers aren’t playing it, clearly GW2 must be doing something right if they’d rather not play the holy grail of video games and complain here instead.

Are you legitimately missing my posts or just choosing to ignore them? I’ve offered you a perfect solution to your problem like two or three times now.

Because I’m not arguing with you maha, I’m arguing with Harper.

His point is that if you want to do dungeons then conform to the elite mentality or do without. I’ve done dungeon PUGs before successfully as well as dungeons with my guildmates. But if my guildmates aren’t online it’s difficult to organize a PUG that isn’t polluted with elitist snobs who deem me as not worthy to breath the same air as them. It takes longer to form one and not have players bail in the middle because they didn’t like the pace, even though they were told upfront that is was casual and we are taking it slow. Might as well as put a bouncer with a rope in front of the dungeons due to all the snobbery found there.

And I’m telling you now that you do not need to conform to any sort of mentality to do dungeons. I literally never join berserker groups for dungeons (or make them), and guess what happens? We clear the dungeon, nobody asks about gear, nobody tries to impose standards on the group. Sure, it’s anecdotal, I know that – but when people say that there are snobs in their no-requirement group getting mad at people for not running berserker, I honestly just find it really hard to believe when I’m a pretty hardcore no-requirement pugger and that’s never happened in groups I’ve had.

Like I said – if it’s actually a problem, ask for an invite to the dungeon mentor guild, get in to contact with a mentor and ask them if they can teach you whatever path you want to learn. If you wanted to do Arah and I actually had computer access, I’d take you through it and sit through every single cutscene if you wanted to watch all of them – and I don’t expect meta builds or anything of the sort. Sure, it’s nice, but a prerequisite to being an Arah mentor is basically being able to solo/duo all of the paths so I’m perfectly capable of handling myself if things go wrong.

Addressing a misconception about AP

There’s not just one "right way to play " but there is only one fast way to play. The fastest way.

The solutions i gave you were there because you seemed to have trouble dealing with “elitists”.
And you’ll understand why people who take the game seriously don’t really want to play with you – you said it yourself – you don’t take it that seriously.

Some people have mentioned the same problems – can’t find “elitist” players on the LFG tool – and other people have suggested making a guild or joining one – a guild that suits your play style.

So do that – it might work like people said.

Also – defining fun – gold per hour is fun for me. The more the better.

The way I see it you want people to make an effort and reach out to you and help but you’re not willing to meet them half way.

No headset.
No voice chat.
No build changes.
No gear changes.
No guides or videos taken into account.

So basically you want things to change – and the elitists to find a way to accomodate you into their parties but you yourself aren’t willing to change at all.
So why would people change and take you along?

- I want/need to do dungeons to get badges needed for stuff.

- Dungeons require a party.

- I can only get a party if I change my character.

That is what I find wrong. I’m not looking to do speed runs. I’m looking to play content at the speed I can play at with like minded individuals. Is that too much to ask?

According to you it is. I need to buy additional hardware so I can voice chat. I need to change my character to a style that I’m not use to playing. That I need to acquire items for my character than I do not currently have to max particular stats out. I need to watch spoilers so I know what’s coming. All to do what I consider is basic content tied to my personal story.

Do you read the Cliff’s Notes before reading a novel so you know what’s coming? Do you read the wiki plot synopsis of a movie before going to see it? Isn’t there any joy to discovering something on your own first anymore? Or is everything reduced to a guide of do this then that, collect reward?

Can’t I simply take four other random players with sub optimal builds into a dungeon, sight unseen, and enjoy it? But I can’t find four other like minded people (other than guildmates) because everyone hanging around the entrance are cookie-cutter warrior zerg builds who won’t give you the time of day because dungeons are only for cookie-cutter warrior zerg builds.

You can’t say it open to all but insist I need to change my character to be eligible to participate.

Are you legitimately missing my posts or just choosing to ignore them? I’ve offered you a perfect solution to your problem like two or three times now.

I can see that most solo players feel awkward with Arch Diviner in the group setting. In fact, it’s pretty neat to FGS this boss to 50 or even 25%.

edit: Elemental isn’t a hard boss. It’s the opportunistic vet elementals which make it extremely punishing and annoying.

I agree, ignoring mechanics with an overpowered conjure is ‘neat’. To hell with actually having to use your dodge key, that’s too hard.

Seriously, any comment like this coming from an “only-warrior” can’t be taken serious.

Also, taking away conjures from ele is essentially taking banners from warriors. And removing their mobility skills. And removing healing signet. And removing healing surge and defiant stance. And taking away 6k of their hp pool.

Wait. Let’s not forget to remove “Fear Me!” and “On My Mark!”.

You’re comparing mobility skills to a conjure that does like 40k dps. Damage wise it’s completely out of line with anything else, and eles can cope just fine without them, even solo. And for the record, I have five classes, ele included.

Take the berserker abomination in arah p2 as a benchmark, it has an enrage skill which you can interrupt and put on a minute cooldown if you time the interrupt properly, and then in between that and it’s second enrage you can shave defiant to get ready for the next interrupt. Apply this kind of important to interrupt kind of attack on a long-ish cooldown to more bosses and you’ll see a lot of control being used – and best of all, using CC is completely independent of your build. The trouble with GW2 currently is that bosses mostly hit like a wet noodle.

Well at least dbz was awesome so I wouldn’t mind sitting through them charging up their spirit bomb over six living story installments.

It’s not reliant on the gear at all, the gear just amplifies the effect of the bonuses that dps builds offer. This is why if berserker gear was to be nerfed to the point that it was actually bad, we would just use what was now the new highest dps gear. Nerfing berserker would literally solve nothing. Then again, ‘solve’ implies there was a problem in the first place.

There is a problem. A game that lacks build diversity lacks replay value. Guild Wars had build diversity as a core part of the gaming experience, which is why it is still around 8 years later.

If Anet doesn’t inject real build diversity it is basically shooting itself in the foot.

I agree nerfing Berserker gear is not the answer. The answer is to boost the other parts of the game so that they are as effective.

This game needs to Look at the other 2 legs of it’s Trinity stool which are out of balance because they are weaker.

Support, and Control.

I know. This game isn’t supposed to have a trinity? I beg to differ, look up the youtube. " WTF No trinity" And you will see this game is supposed to have a trinity.

But when damage suffices… why bother with anything else? If damage suffices, the game is one dimensional at best.

There is trait diversity. And there is no requirement to use certain gear stat combination. Therefore, build diversity exists in this game. You see people using a stat combination an shout no diversity. I look at their trait differences, sigil choices, rune choices, weapon choices and I see lots of variety. As a warrior I pve the only weapon I have never found a use for is rifle. Everything else is optimal somehow, somewhere. Other gear stats do not need or deserve to be boosted because they lack the same risk/reward that berserker has. Why should someone running PVT be on par with someone running berserker? Support I’d absolutely not imbalanced, it is crucial to parties who want to complete content in decent time, and control already has uses in this game – anet just need to make bosses more threatening. Give them a dangerous choreographed attack which you can interrupt for every boss fight and you would literally see control being used in every fight – it’s just bosses aren’t threatening enough to make it worthwhile. Phone autocorrect is messing up a few words, sorry.

Well that’s the thing – that amplification is what prevents you from running multiple builds at a time, let alone experiment, because you need the right gear for it to see its full potential (and that literally means multiple sets of ascended in pve), which is more often than not an effort in boredom and annoyance, unless you’re into gem buying.

At least you’re able to skip that part in pvp, but unfortunately the pvp experience is equally lacklustre because GW2 build experimenting gets old rather fast (especially if you’re rolling solo), and sooner and later you will realize it just isn’t worth the trouble outside random messing around or playing with friends.

It doesn’t prevent it at all. You can pick up exotic gear cheaply, and it’s exactly what I did for builds I wanted to experiment with – and then when I felt they were worth it, it was then that I started grinding ascended. I’m still not seeing what makes nerfing berserker okay here though, the only reasoning I’ve ever gathered on this forum is that people want it nerfed purely out of malice.

And if axe auto is higher dps than axe 5, why would you use axe 5 while chasing an enemy?
