If a player is blaming the current balance changes, then they were not having fun anyway.

And why should that be ? Do you think that the Necromancer patches are so exceptional good that complaining about them is pure heresy ?

This patch as a whole is underwhelming for 6 month of doing nothing. And a few changes (WoB, Plague, FG) are i don´t know how to say it without risking an infraction, let´s say “not very intelligent implemented”.

So please stop beeing such a Fanboi and go to your profession forum to troll there.

To be honest, saying thank you Arenanet would imply that they did something outstanding in a positive way or at least that they did a good job the last let´s say six month to a year. So you can ask yourself if that is the case here,

Balance Patches with a frequency of six month in a game that has so much content which involves pvp in one way or another is underwhelming in every way. If you look at what got changed at certain professions makes it also very clear that Arenanet is not and has not listened to people who actually play the game. It is like every other balance patch used to be in the past. Arenanet had an idea out of their mind and then they implement it no matter what. And of course we as players have to deal with this the next 6 month even if feedback is overwhelming negative or suggested otherwise.

They do not take balancing or even developing this game seriously, with the exception of living story i have to admit. WvW changes (and no i am not talking about this cheap trick they call season), SPvP maps / modes, nothing unfortunately. Ah no excuse me not nothing, in six month they developed three different colours for WvW commanders, wow, slow clap, what a change………..

I really would like to have something to thank them, but what they do for this game is simply not even enough to say that they did their jobs well. The only thing where they are really successful, and it seems that no matter where they always have enough ressources for, is moderating this forum. Deleting posts and infracting people seems something they enjoy more than working on their game.

i admit, the thrill to kill is powerful, but you have to disengage in pvp. you’re needed elsewhere.

And that´s the funny thing in this whole WvW vs SPvP bashing. If i go out in WvW with my team (3-5 people), i am going out to kill kitten or be killed. That´s PvP for me, remember P stands for “Player” and not capture “Point”. SPvP is boring as kitten for me, but whoever likes this game mode, fine, everybody should do what everybody wants. But these SPvP´ers who are trying to tell everybody and their mother that WvW player´s are bad at PvP, that´s just ridicoulous stupid.

There was a big reaction to mesmer scepter changes and they took action against the real issue which was PU. So that worked.

First of all, mesmer is not necro. We unfortunately do not have somebody prominent in SPvP who can make himself get a hearing at Arenanet and who gets enough attention. I only remember Zombify who played a necro in high level TPvP but he streamed not much and i don´t know if he plays anymore. I don´t know if necros play any role in high level TPvP nowadays. So Anet does not care anyway.

Second, Anet does not know what to do with Necros, they never did since day one. Look at all the Jon Peters comments in the past on “mastering” death shroud, dhuumfire etc. They have absolutely no idea and nobody of them mains a necro.

Third, polls are a nice idea, they show the obvious, but unfortunately Anet don´t give a flying kitten about polls so don´t expect to be recognized, they are busy with this thread:

I am happy with the skill bar. I expected nothing and got more than i expected, so i take this. But they will never ever in thousand years address the issues this class has. at least we get something, and most of the things are buffs. After ignoring the necro for ages i would take anything. And it did not sound like they did kitten up something, so it could be worse. Is it enough for 6 month of doing nothing ? Of course not.

And 1 spamming will also not stop. reducing the power scale, i understand why they did this but if the damage increase really compensates this, i have doubts.

Stealth is ridiculous in this game, it is a design fault how it is working. Thiefs rely on stealth so it would take a whole redesign of the stealth mechanic as a whole and as a logical consequence also of the thief. This will never ever, not in 1000 years happen. Even if they had the time, people, money to do that. Arenanet is balancing classes only around SPvP, a game mode most people don´t give a flying kitten about but Arenanet is despite all fails dreaming the Esports dream. As long as stealth is not toxic for SPvP they will not start even thinking.

^ Yep mobility is imho the biggest problem. I´ve never felt weak regarding defenses but beeing so immobile compared to the other classes always annoyed me. But we all know that deaf Anet won´t let that happen. Maybe they buff vampiric master to life siphon healing 43 instead of 42.

Necro death shroud will always give them an advantage in 1v1 but sucks in teamfights.

Necro is not a “good” duelling class. The necro is too much vulnerable to cc to be that and has very limited access to boons. I would take 1000 times a warrior over a necro if i wanted to duel. Of course you can duel with every class but depending on your choice it can be easier or more difficult. Necro for me shines in a team.

I would not be scared for Necro changes, they said that dagger aa will get a cleave and that they will buff survivability through utilities (whatever that means and whoever needed that), so i expect nothing too toxic here. But to be honest i am thankful if at the end of they day they don´t kitten somethings completely up with the necro.

And regarding Mesmer torment lolspam, really, i don´t know what some people smoke at Anet but they should stop it. This will get horrible, seems like mesmers got their dhuumfire.

yep that would be of course great but the reality is, people are not that noble. I´ve seen mesmers flying into keeps to port the whole zerg into it afterwards. Nobody said anything in map chat, because this time a cheater worked in their favor.

The community has no affirmation of whether or not a cheater has been investigated and punished.

Cheaters are in every game and GW2 is nothing special here. Seeing that Arenanet is doing absolutely nothing against these people, at least in EU is very frustrating on one hand and from their point of view also not understandable. They don´t loose any subscription fees if they ban those people. And i don´t even talk about things that are only suspicious i talk about obvious fly / speed hacking, damaging people from beyond the surface etc. Seeing people doing that for weeks after reporting them is, i don´t know, very discouraging.

But i guess we have to understand that their whole team was busy the last months with designing the new colours for the commanders and they did not have time for such trivial things.

guardians, who are our slow-as-molasses-in-the arctic-winter brothers and sisters.

excuse me, what ?? I would be delighted if i had the mobility of a guard on my necro, the greatsword leap alone is nice, i dont´even start talking about the instant teleports though. sure the guardian is not the most mobile class in gw2 but compared to a necro it is a speed train.

And we have Flesh Wurm, SWalk, and gap closers ourselves.

The worm ? maybe in SPvp, in WvW it is more or less meaningless, Swalk is good though. What gap closer are you talking about ? Dark Path ? Wow that is slow as hell and can be dodged.

Mobility isn’t key to living through damage, and it makes no sense with our profession design.

Mobility is absolutely king to survive, maybe you should run a little bit with one of these Nike warriors who are so common these days through the border lands or you should visit a few classes with a thief whom you trust.

We can be very happy and thankful if they either don´t kitten somethings up completely with the necro or don´t do something incredibly stupid again like they did with dumbfire.

Since they refuse to do something with mobility or the ability to reset a fight i expect, as usual, nothing from arenanet.

Thieves Stealth, Too OP?

Hmm let´s see, what can we say about thiefes

- high damage output
- highly mobile
- can choose when they engage / disengage
- can easily reset a fight
- can cleanse / regen in stealth if specced
- high amount of stealth

Are they OP ? Well the state that this game has you should not talk about balance. I mean look at the state of the warrior which is on top of the ridiculousness level. So compared to them surely not, but if you look at the sorry state of rangers hell yes. Arenanets balancing strategy is a comedy show and therefore can not be taken too serious.

And the most stupid thing about stealth in this game is, there is no counter. Stealth is a fire and forget mechanic. You press a button and go into stealth, you do not have to have any awareness at all. In other games for example you are unable to stealth if you do it in front of you opponent so you have to be aware when you do it. Or there are stats which enable you to see stealthed enemies easier. But here, nada no nothing, stealth in this game is a simple, low risk – high reward mechanic. And please please please don´t say aoe is a counter to stealth, this would maybe be true if the thief wouldn´t be on of the mobilest professions in GW2.

But Desolation is not different in that way. The last two day i´ve seen the most ridiculous guild blob since release from Desolation. Even IRON in their best times seemed like small scale compared to this zergball of lameness.

I flipped entire UW border with 3 guys only this morning.
I’ll emphasize this to avoid further confusion – 3 GUYS ONLY.
I saw only 2 UW invaders, trying to defend briar. After that – nothing.

I’m eager to hear excuse for this.

I know that might be new for you but have you ever heard of the concept of Real Life ? People who live by that might be sleeping on a saturday morning.

How come Warhammer in its late state did not lagg in 200+ battles? It also had better combatlogs, more skills, more cooldowns, higher aoe caps and is from 2008.

You are 100% right.I never had any type of lag in Warhammer even in the big fights.I don’t think I even had lag in DAoC and that was back in the day playing with a 56k modem.

Warhammer did lag like hell at least in EU, because of collision detection they had more problems than GW2. They came one time to a point where they officially thought about switching friendly collision detection off for performance resons (this was around Aug 2010) and brought a build to the test servers. Desyncing was also a great problem for melees, i played a wh for more than 2 years and in bigger fight´s i don´t know how many times i get “out of range” error message even when the enemy stood in front of me. So Warhammer is a really bad example for a game in terms of good performance, i am sorry.

Again don´t expect something revolutionary revealed on that Q&A. The core problems of WvW, performance, matchups etc. will never get fixed because they don´t have enough people working on WvW. How many guys are that ? three, four with DC ? This Q&A is a big marketing gag but not serious business, i´am really curious how many times he will say “soon”, “around the corner” or “in the future”.

On blue map we had 4 different groups Osc, Pugs, Zds, df+ few CoN, arrond 20-30 each of the groups…

Unfortunately none of these guilds hat the guts to run around alone most of the time. At least 2 of them always running around together. Funniest guild was OSC, they were only brave when they got babysitted by ZD. On the rare occasion when they were alone you could see them only from behind.

Devs should play on r5-6 servers

Just a thought…..I believe the devs should walk a mile in some of our shoes for the 7 weeks of league and play on the servers that are guaranteed 7 weeks of imbalance. This would allow them to see/feel what leagues do to a lot of servers.

Part of the ‘rules’ of the game is gathering. If you gather here, you’ll get your daily gathered achievement.

Nope that´s wrong. Through the eyes of this narrow minded anti GvG community such behavior can not be tolerated at all. Doing part of a daily in WvW by gathering does not only not contribute to the points of the server, one is also guilty of wasting a precious slot on the map.

WvW is a game that is defined by 3v3 server matches, with capture and control points, which contribute to points gain every 15 minutes and adds up over the course of a match week to determine a winner for the overall ranking of a designated ladder. This was the intended design of the game, and all the crafting stations, jumping puzzles, bloodlust capture points, map completion points, WXP gains and ranks were integrated into that design, whether you like it or not. Stop complaining.

So if that is your interpretation how WvW is working then open Field fights should also be avoided at all costs and are not supported on the WvW Maps. Maybe in your perfect World Servers should talk to each other so that they do not accidentaly appear on the same keep at the same time. How about that ?

I’m disappointed to see how vicious some people are being.

How in the world can you defend what this guy did. He was standing in the middle of the two opposing guilds. It has been clear that this is a GvG, no way to misinterpret the situation. He was asked to leave, he did not. One of the guilds chased him off a bit but even did not kill him, he returned and interfered again. After that the Raidlead started to call him Names and then the Dev started to show his Tag. But not to calm things down, he just wanted to show who has the bigger kitten and to troll people. To be honest i am surprised how nice the community was to this guy under the given circumstances, in europe when such things happen these motherkitteners will get killed over and over until they leave when they can not behave themselfes. Maybe this guy is the nicest person in the world but on that special occasion he acted exactly like the raidlead called him.

GW2 has no GvG, if someone wants to play GvG, buy/play a game with GvG, easy as that.

I’m sorry but necros do have multiple escape tools. They’re just different.

I am sorry but fear and chill are hardly escape tools when we talk about resetting a fight. The flesh wurm has outside of spvp no meaning, spectral walk ist highly situational and perma speed, please…………… Do you believe your opponents do not have access to swiftness ?? I remember in one of the state of the game discussions Anet thought of giving necros an ability to reset a fight but instead they gave us dumbfire.

Regards to GvG, I don’t believe that 20 vs 20 requires much skill in term’s clutch plays, skilled reses, player’s calling targets and calling clutch spikes. You will never see top tier game play in such big fight’s.

How many GvG´s did you do ? It seems none. GvG´s require a lot of different skills, from the leader to every single person. Planning the lineup, positioning, situational awareness, focusing damage, timed retreats just to name a few.

And just one word regarding that so called small scale and how “elite” it is compared to 20vs20. Just look a the balancing of this game, look a the spvp forums. It is a complete mess. Necros melting everything with ridiculous condi pressure, stun locking warriors, the “petting zoo” of spirit rangers or the infamous s/d thief, you name it.
