The burst they have from stealth ist just unjustified and the most stupid thing i´ve ever seen since the release of GW2, that´s the bad news. The good news is that it will not stay that way, this bullcrap will get nerfed so all the winning team joiners and easy mode pu mesmers that jumped on the “kitten kitten im gut cause i canz oneshot peoplez kitten kitten ” train, enjoy your cancer build as long as it lasts.

I think invulnerability would cause a lot of problems. You can already get incredible tanky. I run a power build wth lots of knights gear and corruptors favor, hell i can already survive a lot.

Having to counter a gameplay mechanic through stats is just bad. You’re going to have a stat that effectively does nothing when your fighting classes without stealth. Theres no way anet would do that.

Well it’s better than no counter at all or giving a counter to only one class. I can not see why Anet should do that

I disagree, Your nothing but free kills for any glass ele, thief or even engineer.

As i have said they have than enough utilities to reset a fight witout stealth at all, the rest i am sorry is a learn to play issue.

Oh god no. Anyone who wants to fight stealth classes shouldn’t have to lose a ton of stats to get an anti reveal mechanic. It’ll never be balanced.

Wouldn’t work due to any channeled skill following you in stealth. You already take a ton of damage, Basically any channel or projectile skill hitting you when your stealthed and your insta revealed again.

The question is what do you think stealth is good for. Stealth should give you the moment of surprise as a tactical advantage. In GW2 it´s a guaranteed “go out of jail” card. The problem is how classes are worked around stealth and how they rely on it. You can´t touch stealth without touching how these classes work and that´s the main reason why this discussion is hypothetical at best. Arenanet will never ever touch stealth here. Imo it´s the most stupid mechanic in this game.

I was going to comment and say how squishy mesmers will be without stealth, I still agree with that statement.

Mesmers squishy without stealth ? Nope never ever, they have so much utility they don´t need stealth to survive.

but it would give for some counterplay at least.

If anyone recalls this article, it was stated that the Revenant features mobility in-combat similar to the thief out of combat.

Lol, the same people say that the necro is an attrition class. Lying is a nasty word but the gap between what they say and the reality is
so huge that sometimes i think they play a total different game.

I don´t think this would be a good idea. Imo the whole stealth system needs to be reworked so it actually requires some skill to get invisible. For example that you can´t vanish in front of somebody or in other word have to take care about positioning yourself. Maybe give people a stat where they can invest in which gives you a chance to reveal somebody in stealth (like in warhammer with initiative). And last but not least reveal people in stealth when they take damage (also like in warhammer).

But most important, remove stealth from classes who do not need it (Mesmers !!) and limit stealth to thiefes. There is way to much stealth in this game right now.

This discussion is as old as GW2 is. One classes elite is destroying the whole build of another class. Should tell you some stories of

a) what Anet thinks Balance is and
b) What Anet thinks in particular of the Necro

It´s no wonder that things are like they are now.

I still do and main a necro. I play only wvw and that´s the only game mode where necros are kind of viable. At least Anet did not manage to break that yet. Tried pvp but there are much more useful classes there so i stopped after a few months.

I don´t like what they call meta (i call it fotm) gameplay. With every patch you are forced to play the class which Anet buffed to oblivion and after 6 months chances are you have to drop it because of nerfs.

We have not released all weapons and legends for the Revenant yet. Right now there is definitely a gap in the playstyles offered as we haven’t discussed the more pure DPS focused setup yet. soon tm.

Is that you only statement ? How does releasing new legends make the already released better in any way? I would have at least expected a statement like “we gonna fix abc or maybe even xyz is going to stay because we believe it fits with the class” But saying “Hey do not fear, we will release new legends that won´t suck like these” When are you going to take players serious and talk about issues ?

tbh i am sad how the revenant is in it´s current state as i have planned to play one. Yes it´s not finished and yes there are legends missing but i have 0 confidence in Anet any more. What they have done since release to the classes told me a lesson. I am sure they have some ideas how the revenant should be in their view but player feedback will be ignored like they always ignore it. So maybe by accident they will make the revenant decent somehow but i doubt it.

The revenants i met yesterday in wvw were a joke. given that nobody can really play the class, knows all the skills etc but still. The damage output of these guys was laughable, the hammer is so slow, it´s ridiculous. Really, i did not even have to dodge, you can simply walk out of the silly telegraphs.

Unfortunately i have not met mace, axe guys so it might be better there. From the few hours i played one myself i think that for support maybe there is a spot for the class, healing i don´t know. The mechanic of the tablet feels really strange, commanding this thing back and forth. If you are not under pressure and have the time to do that ok, but if you have somebody on you i doubt that you can be effective.

Also no swiftness, and very very limited mobility is something i hate about the class. Hell even on my necro i feel more mobile than on this sitting duck.

The animations of the skills look awesome but jesus christ arenanet i don´t know what release date you are thinking of, but this class has a lot of work to be done.

The difference is, Dhuumfire was a terrible idea, nobody from the community at that time asked for the necro getting burning, plus it was totaly over the top. This trait came from the “balancing” team or Jon “Master of the Deathshroud” Peters himself. It is a good example how clueless Arenanet is in regards to the Necro.

Chilling Darkness was never considered OP or a problem or anything else. It got used mostly in large scale wellomancer speccs. The only similarity is the cluelessness of Anet what to do with the Necromance but thats nothing new.

Yes they read the forum and no they don´t give a kitten about player feedback. This had been so since release. The only thing that is relevant for them are their own weird ideas with things nobody asked for or things that never caused any problems. I´m on necro since the betas and i stopped taking them seriously after the dumbfire patch. Balance in this game is completely ridiculous, either they buff classes through the roof or give classes nerfs for whatever reason. And of course without any feedback because hey we are only stupid players, what do we know compared to them………

I don´t think so, in Zergs you will be forced to run a Wellomancer like it has been forever. Condi is useless more or less due to the massive cleansing in large scale. So the only thing that might be viable as an alternative is some bloodmagic centric support build with a focus to siphoning. Runes or Sigils did not change that much.

If you like to roam, Necro is the wrong class for you. The Necro lacks simple core abilities you need to have for roaming which is mobility and disengages. If i were you i would level a Mesmer or a Warrior for solo roaming.

The necro is very good in very big team fights or gvg’s . It’ s the only place where you can tell meta and necro in one sentence. In all other places the necro is either bad or easy to exchange with another class who can bring the same plus more to the table. Anet keeps ignoring that since Release because they either dont have a clue what to do with the class or to stubborn to see that their idea is crap.

I don´t think that this has something to do with WvW. Wells are very strong in some situations and in some not, the thread owner made good use of that. Nothing new to be honest, this has been the case pre patch also.

Speaking from a WvW perspective, the Aids with med Guardians and Mesmer Burst Anet brought into Tyria with this Patch they should first balance the damage output of some classes, then we can speak about nerfing necro.

Yep u guys should know how things work in GW2. They will make the class overpowered as kitten like they did it in the past for so many times (hello dumbfire, how are you d/d ele, nice to see you power ranger etc. etc. etc.) . Then they will do absolutely nothing for six months and after that time, maybe if the sun, the moon plus the stars are right and jon peters managed to master death shroud, we will see a few corrections which will bring the class in line. So nothing new to be seen here.

I pity this Marmatt guy so much to be honest because he is somebody who puts his spare time in this game and this community as a volunteer. I guess by now he found out how toxic this environment can be because of Anet ignoring players for the time being. And i can only imagine how frustrated he will get when he realizes at some point that his reports will be ignored the same way by the devs how they ignored the players. This is only some maneuver by Anet to calm the playerbase to give them the impression that feedback means anything.

Anet if you would really care about what players have to say about the game you wouldn´t need a forum specialist just get your kitten over here and read the feedback yourself instead of beeing so busy closing threads. And please please please don´t tell us the story that you don´t have enough time, nobody buys that anymore. The forum is full of red posts about CDI, living story, armor skins etc. etc. You know it´s strange that you have time to talk about everything in depth with the exception of wvw and class balance.

Well that is something i would say is something that they do at a horrible level. Moderation is done to an extent on some subforums where criticism is not tolerated at all.

That GW2 is buy to play is something i enjoy very much, no subscription while not being p2w is always nice.

No extreme gear trademill is also something i enjoy. I can always come back and start from the point i left

That they implemented megaserver technology on the pve maps is awesome. The maps are full, always somebody around to do temples or champions.

They deliver content regularly, even if it is only for the story but it is something.

Their technology that they do not have server downtimes when they deliver patches is also absolutely awesome.

I think that would be a good idea if it is meant to be a help for new players or players who change profession and need guidance. In terms of giving feedback or getting somehow in touch with Anet i think that would be a really really frustrating job since Anet don´t give a flying kitten about what players have to say regarding professions, balance and so on, their communication regarding this is almost non existent.

I am enjoying my power necro. I realize that its liability is no heals and low toughness and not a huge health pool. No stealth or escape mechanism. When you are in, you are in to the death it seems.

Seems high reward but high risk of death. No?

Depends on the game mode you are talking about, in SPvP you could try worm, in WvW you could try Spectral Walk (both need positioning and practice) but to be honest in WvW be most of the times be prepared for the ultimate escape which is death while you see your mates, leaping, vanishing in stealth or become a cloud .

Warrior and Necro are the only professions with this kind of “earn ressource through combat”, so either both should have their ressource full at the beginning of a match or none of them. Since every other profession can use their class mechanic from the beginning, imo this should be equalized.

You may want to stop comparing necros to thieves, since a necro with full Life force has 3 times the hit points of a thief.

Which does not help much because the thief can disengage at will because of the stupid way stealth works in this game. Good luck on resetting a fight with a necro

I like to be unique . Necro are asking for leaps , better stability etc . But when you are thinking about it , with all that added , you have the most broken class in the game lel .

Oh you mean then the necro would be like a warrior. Well that might be if not carefully implemented. I don´t think that we would be broken if we would have to give up certain things for some chances to escape. It´s all about choices.

And to the people suggesting the worm. I don´t know if that are trolls ore not but i would suggest that before making stupid comments they should go for one evening to wvw and try to reset fights or escape with the worm and look how effective that is. The worm has it´s uses in certain game modes but it is in no way a universal tool.
