If you want to solo roam (or roam in general) in WvW you have to change your mindset. WvW will not gonna change in favor of roamers because that´s not the direction Anet wants and i don´t think that the majority of players want that either. I roam most of the time but not alone, in a group of 3 to 5 guild mates and more than enough we got rolled over by a zerg, that´s the way it is mate, get used to it.

As long as WvW is some kind of mass pve event with occasional (and of course total avoidable) pvp for Anet this will not gonna change. They are in general deaf dumb and blind for the WvW community who likes to fight. Look at the new BL, look at the upgrades you can do for objectives and you see the direction they are heading.

As topic says. BETA testing has no place in WvW. Use the new BL tests to test WvW for beta characters. BETA characters are unbalanced and have no place in WvW matchups.

Ah i see, you want to test beta chars on empty borderlands maps to let unbalanced professions into the live game when hot releases. Makes total sense, you sir are a true genius………..

Necro-Reaper Escapes for WvW

I’m playing my necro in WvW. It is lots of fun, but I have no escapes whatsoever. It’s very frustrating because once I am focused, I die. I am hoping that the Reaper is better at this. Could anybody provide the following information, please?

Are there any leaps? Escapes? Stability? Stealth?

If you run a necro you have to change your mindset. If you go in or somebody jumps at you, you either win and live or loose and die. It´s a class in man mode. You can´t stealth, you have limited access to stability (Infusing Terror if you are a Reaper is your best choice or Foot in the Grave Trait on base Necro ) Leap is only availabe on Reaper with Deaths Charge.

As someone who’s played every single class in PVE, PVP, and WvW… Learn to play.

lol what ? You should clearly take your own advice dude and play a bit without or against stealth. The amount of burst stealth classes can dish out is obscene with no real counterplay. Other classes in contrary to the thief for example have cooldowns on their skills. Do you know what a cooldown is dude ? We can not spam something until our class ressource pool is empty.

The amount of stealth thiefs and mesmers have access to makes it super easy, even for only decent players, simply to hit and run until most of your stuff is on cooldown and if they come to the conclusion that you are not a “fun” target they simply stay in stealth and teleport happy away. Stealth is perfect easy mode game play in GW2 because there is no skill based gameplay involved other that “stay away from red circles” Really dude, even a monkey can learn that.

Some of the points the OP made are really the most overpowered crap i´ve read. Longer lasting stealth ? Protection in stealth ? Dearmor non stealth classes ? and my favourite “No reveal” ? Wow this is ridiculous. How many classes can reveal now ? Ranger and Engie afaik. With hot Revenant too. So three professions out of nine and that´s too much for you, come on i dare you……….

Burn guard is a topic of itself. Incredible stupid build and for the low skill cap absolutely amazing damage, but that´s another story of the arenanet balance team fails. But at least you can see a guardian attack and you can do something about it to counter, condi clears, -40% condi dur food etc.

Whats really killing this game is people able to bring the same kind of burst from stealth with no time to react. This is what annoys me the most in this game, lack of counterplay to stealth. And with hot they make it even worse. Some classes get more stealth and some get reveals. If you don´t play one of them you are kittened. Stealth is by far the most stupid “mechanic” in this game, zero counters except for some prof. , low risk high reward and since vanishing is just a keypress away easy to achieve. There is no positioning involved, you can just disappear completely in front of somebodies eyes.

I don´t know who designed that at Anet but that person should be punished with at least 4 weeks of gameplay in WvW as a solo roamer. Maybe the taste of their own medicine in form of the condi PU mesmer plague will wake them up.

^ This . Really guys, this is some form of open world pvp and if you believe in some bizarre honour codex pls go to a custom arena and invite everybody in who you want to duell against. In WvW the only rule is, red is dead, period.

Of course it´s nothing worth to brag about if you kill a solo guy with 5 people, no doubt about that, but that doesn´t mean that he does not have to die.

Well, the person in charge for the Necro at Anet unfortunately is also in charge for the Mesmer. And regarding the last big “balance” patch there should be no doubt who his baby is. So it´s no wonder that he says they will “discuss” the matter later, which means basically that he will wait until everybody forgets about the issue. This stupid mechanic is in the game since release and i doubt that it will be ever changed.

Here’s the problem.

If you refuse to give your efficiency link, so that people can see your gear, will you be discriminated against?

i.e. Refusing to ‘show’ your gear is equal to not having the correct gear.

Refusing to show your gear will be reason enough to exclude someone. It will happen.

So what ? This is not new, GW2 Efficiency or not. I´ve been in a GvG guild for example where you were required to give screenshots with your gear and stats. So showing your equipment has been around since release. Solution is, if you do not want to show that, play with people who don´t care about such things.

I´ve never understood that, for me it doesn´t have something to do with balancing, it´s just common sense not to do such stupid things. If you are allowed to go to the Edge of the Mists i would level there. If not, well then PvE i would guess, public events, hearts etc. If you can afford a few gems you could buy XP boosters in the gem store.

I have never heard of afk leveling so i don´t know where you could do that.

Don´t worry, Mesmers are so faceroll these days, that they are not accustomed to losing a fight. So naturally this guy thought that you must be cheating because otherwise you couldn´t have won. The best way to deal with such kind of people is to ignore them, since the reports are reviewed by a human nothing will happen to your account if you did nothing.

Nerfing Ele alone will not make anything better. There are a few things which are completely out of control. Burn Damage across the board is way too high and imho one of the problems combined with the high sustain D/D Ele has, but Guardian has the same problems, Medi Guards are ridiculous strong right now because of the problem with burning. Not to mention Mesmers with their cancer P/U specs, these guys have more stealth than thiefes kittenmit. Arenanet has to wake up and balance the game as a whole and not like it is now where each class designer buffs his personal class of choice to oblivion.

And regarding saltiness, it hasn´t always been that way, but most of the long time players are simply sick of the treatment they got from Anet, the treatment the Necro got over the years, the let me call it issues with forum moderation etc. etc.

Just hop on to the Mesmer forum and read the Chronomancer reviews and then come here and read the Reaper´s one. Should tell you a few things.

It´s interesting with how little some people are satisfied. Last two posts regarding necro from mr gee used to be 6 days ahead, and to sum it up 3 posts in 7 days. Where the only post where he really had to say something was this:

If you checkout Mr Cronacher he is doing a really good job communicating with people right now.

You might not agree with me at all, but I quite often get the sense that I have to work 2x, 3x as kitten my necro to kill someone (when I’m solo roaming)

Unfortunately this is nothing new. If you really want to solo roam there have always been by far better choices than a necro. In the past there have been Thief, Warrior, Ele and after the patch you see Mesmers, Mesmers, Mesmers , sometimes Medi Guards and a few Eles.

This is unfortunately what Anet made of their own Game, it´s not about sticking to your class and mastering it, it´s about play whats fotm after patch xyz. Plus and this annoys me the most, even if somebody does not fall into this fotm madness you are somehow forced to play the most Aids and broken build around to be effective against the other Aids builds. Looking at the roaming necro i often see the infamous version of the terrormancer with signets and perplexity runes, disgusting.

If you want to solo roam roll a mesmer and you will have hell a lot of an easier time, or if you don´t want to be a winning team joiner, roll a fire d/d ele, they are pretty good too like all classes with heavy access to burning.

A lot of Dmg ? Compared to Life Blasts the Dmg is really low, if you take into account that i have to be in melee range, balance between risk vs reward is not given.

It gives pretty high cleaving damage that stacks both might and vulnerability far better than Life Blast could ever hope to. However, as many others have mentioned I might have been biased because of my build being focused on RS, so if its damage does need a bit of buffing I’m on board.

Problem is, you are not as tanky in RS as you are in DS, so to get something out of your might stacks you have to be in melee range for a time. And to compensate for the loss of tankyness i think a buff to dmg would be justified.

Death’s Charge – Needs to function like a targeted leap

Very bad idea. Coming from a WvW perspective i used that skill numerous times to escape or for general mobility, very useful, please not more targeted stuff.

I think you misunderstand, what bhawb means. It would be more like the guardian GS leap or the warrior sword leap. They dont need a target to work but if they have a target they stop at the target.

As long as i can have a decision and as long as it is not in a way that i stop to move if i hit something on the way, Ok it might be an improvement. But we need mobility so badly in WvW that they should never ever remove the untargeted part of that ability.

Imo Reaper is fun in WvW, but don´t take a Greatsword because that sucks. I really enjoyed the enhanced mobility and stability in shroud. In large scale fights wells will be they way to go like it has been since release but in smaller fights some of the shouts are an option i think. I tried celestial gear and a mix of knights and valkyrie, i liked celestial more but maybe that is because i run cele also on live. I felt not as tanky in reapers shroud as i general feel but the mobility and stability you gain makes it up imo. You give up something and gain something else instead, wish it would be the same on any class

A build on Meta Battle does not change anything, the build is good, i run a slightly different version in WvW too. But props to the Abjured that they have the balls to bring a class which has been Antimeta ever since with small execptions.

But to be honest i am not bothered by that any more, it´s the opposite i am proud that the necro is not meta and i hope it will never get Meta as long as “Meta” in GW2 means “pls play the most Aids build available”.

The single greatest issue with necro in wvw/pvp is the ‘focus the necro’ meta. The reaper changes absolutely nothing about this.

I would disagree here, we have a lot more access to stability with reaper and this helps a lot to react to people trying to focus you.

lol, well some things will never change i guess, Sometimes i think why bother giving feedback anyways.

Reapers Shroud is really good i think, i like Infusing Terror and Deaths Charge.

Shouts i don´t know, base cooldowns are too long and the reduction from Augury of Death is meh because of that.. If i hit 2 enemies the reduction is 5 sec.

You are all weaklings would be good if they increase the stability part, 1.1/4 sec just does nothing, i mean its so low sometimes i don´t even notice the boon on the screen.

Suffer is nice i think, condi transfer plus chill, if you go down the chill road i can see some nice synergies.

Nothing can save you is great i think (with the exception of the cooldown).

Rise, i don´t know what to say. I actually know but if i would say that, the forum police would ban me again. So i just say USELESS.

Chilled to the bone i am not sure, i play only WvW and Plague is simply too useful for me to give it up. But i do think that the skill has it´s use.

Your soul is mine is not a bad healing skill imo, it just can´t compete with consume conditions. Maybe there is some synergy with Unholy Sanctuary regarding to the LF generation.

Greatsword is lackluster at best. The damage output is far far too low taking into account the speed and range of this weapon. In WvW / PvP you will get interrupted 24/7. Also LF generation is bad on GS. Dagger imo is far superior still.

Reaper traitline is good i think with a few exceptions. Augury of Death is too weak, the cd reduction is simply not worth it. Soul Eater heals me for 53 in celestial, so it seems that this trait don´t scale with hp. Maybe it would be worth it if they change that.

Overall i think the Reaper is not quite there. Greatsword is laughable and Shouts are so so. But Reapers Shroud and Reaper TL are useful and offer interesting things to play with. I love that the Necro has more access to stability now and that they gave us a bit more mobility. At least here it seems that in some clear moments they take feedback into account, so not all hope is lost.

The real shame is that Anet refuses to talk about balance whatsoever and that they balance the game only every six months. So we end up always in a situation where some classes ar OP as kitten like mesmers for six months before they eventually get toned down, if the dev who is responsible for that has a good day, well maybe. That leads to bandwagoning every time, WvW is full of troll mesmers these days and Anet is too stubburn to do something against it or to recognize it as a problem. GW2 is a 100% FOTM game where they kind of force or at least highly encourage such behavior. Balancewise this is the most unprofessional handling in a game i´ve ever seen, and Anet is still dreaming the E-Sports dream, lol, with very limited success.

And to the OP, you can´t fight against such trolls with condi cleanse alone, you have to fight Aids with Aids, if i were you i would respecc to a medi guard and try to burn these mesmers to ashes

No Baruch has to stay EU hands down. These guys are hilarious, they are so deep into their PvD experience that most of them are totally surprised if they see an enemy player. Some of them even forget to press any skills at all if engaged. So no, Baruch goes nowhere, keep the free bags rolling, hasta la vista.

You get the the buff if you and somebody else try to hop in a golem simultaneously. With the right timing the player who did not get inside the golem gets the buff outside the golem. So i do not believe that there are many people who got this by accident.

It´s an exploit and people using it should be punished, imho not permanently but at least a 3 day suspension. Hell, whole guilds exploited that. Yesterday i saw a SFR complete guild group running around with it.

But more disturbing than using exploits is a game developer that does absolutely nothing against it and even does not bother to give any statement at all. That´s really the most lame thing since a long time i´ve experienced with Anet.

The golem event was created by Josh, to ensure no resources were taken from HoT. It was not designed to fix WvW issues or to test out new things. It was purely for a bit of fun.

I have no problems with people giving feedback on issues. But it really needs to be constructive and it really needs to remain within an appropriate thread. Because this golem event wasn’t meant to fix any issues with WvW, people complaining about how bad WvW is are wasting their time. The only feedback that is valid, in my opinion, are complaints about the golem buff exploit, as that is negatively impacting the event itself.

As to Anet being silent. That is because they are not focused on this event, they are focused only on HoT right now. So do not expect any kind of response to WvW issues or golem event issues. I would rather they focused on HoT than worry about issues with a small event, or existing WvW issues that may end up getting fixed with the release of HoT anyway.

I also think it is extremely childish and unfair to have a go at Josh for the issues with the golem event. He is not a dev, he was merely trying to add something different for us to enjoy. It had issues, yes, but he did not cause these issues, nor is he in a possition to fix them.

He could come on the forum and communicate with about this, but then I personally do not think it would be worth his, or our, time. All he would receive is a torrent of undeserved abuse about something he cannot do anything about. I personaly thank him for his efforts, and I am sorry that it did not pan out as well as he hoped it would. I also hope to see more things like this added periodically, because it is nice to have a break from the norm sometimes and have something new to enjoy.

Lol, dude do you even understand what the complaints regarding the event are about ? Do you even play wvw ? They brought major exploits to the game with this event where players are able to do 100% more dmg against others outside a golem or with skills that are not intended to work inside a golem.

And you are basically saying that they should not “waste” their time doing something about it to fix their broken stuff ? Sorry dude that´s ridiculous but keep white knighting.

There is nothing like a WvW department, there have been persons in charge of wvw which changed frequently from release till now. They only had one thing in common which is absolutely no knowledge of how wvw works and what wvw players do and like. It is simply not on their priority list, paired with their super strange information and community work, et voila you have things like a golem week.

It’s disturbing that no one at Anet had the foresight to see the negative effects this would produce in WvW.

What disturbs me the most is that not long ago they made some posts looking for wvw guilds who are willing to take a dev with them. And afaik they found guilds and devs followed them for while in wvw. So you can´t even say that they did not know how people play wvw.

Create new servers, these servers will be AvA specific, not general PvE.
Have different race cities be the staging grounds and main base for each Alliance.
Each zone map will have several towers which will have to be captured in order for an Alliance to claim the map.

Won´t happen because

we’ve seen 2 clips of where the CEO doesnt even know what they are talking about.

They have no clue whatsoever about RvR and how people play it, instead they are busy with creating trolly events with buggy code. They even don´t care about fixing exploits which came in with the event. I´m so sick of seeing people running around with the +100%Dmg to players buff.

That´s only one of many statements that shows how far away Anet is from their own game. You can see that in many places, be it SPvP, Balance etc. etc. Making a guild to show something will not change anything because they are simply to stubborn to see things as the players do.

The thing is Anet is and has always been good at talking. When it comes to getting things done you hear either “soon” or nothing at all. You can´t believe them in any way. Look at how poorly they made the golem event, how many exploits are around because they do not even care to test their own kitten.
