Necromancers Deathly Chill needs to go

1.) All the folks that on one hand baby rage that there are only “bad” necs around and on the other hand die to them because of the deathly chill buff should look in the mirror. Coming to wvw without beeing properly prepared for strong condition builds is simply stupid. So don´t blame others for your autistic behaviour.

2.) Was the buff neccessary, no i don´t think so. The problems of the necromancer are in many but not in the damage areas. Imo we needed something more on the defensive side, but that´s only my opinion.

3.) What did you expect from Anet. Since release they proved every balance patch that they don´t know what they are doing regarding to the nec and this patch is no exception. Which is not a surprise, how will you balance classes for a game mode you don´t have a kittening clue of because you don´t play it. The good news is, it will only last 6 months until the next nonsense patch will come out and revert the change, so relax it will not last forever.

this forum has been abandoned by the devs a long time ago. Their idea of what the necromancer is, is too different from the players view what it should be. Besides that, there is nobody who plays a necromancer actively from them. So you can of course post here all day but in the end you won´t either get answers or any other reaction without maybe getting your posts deleted if you say something somebody does not like. Waste of time and effort.

Polls can help to make good or bad decisions.

The way Anet does these polls serve no purpose anyway other than they can say afterwards “Hey guys we asked you so don´t complain” . How can we make an educated decision about something if we do not get enough data from Anet to get into that position. Making a Poll “Do you want A or B” is useless. First they should provide and explain the data that they have, outline possible consequences of either choices and so on. If they make other decisions in the same way they do polls, lol, than it´s no wonder that things are like they are.

Also @ mordran: Just because OP is a Druid does not mean she is using the meta carry build and by watching the video you can clearly see that.

And how is that relevant in that context ? He talked about the skill floor in hot in general,. If he is using a build that is not meta well good or bad for him, but that does not invalidate that druid is one of the winner classes in hot regarding too their effectiveness in roaming.

you can solo roam but expect to end up getting run down by a wolfpack if you are being mildly effective.

got you, no offense but how is that different to pre hot ? I do only small scale and we have been chased by people through the map pre and post hot.

A lot of roamers use condi specs (mesmers, thiefs and i´ve seen even the good old burn guardian lately ) so i am not sure what your point is.

Meanwhile, Dragonhunter isn’t even that good in WvW roaming,

DH is ridiculously strong in WvW roaming. We roam with double DH, a druid and a Rev , i am one of the DH´s. You have very high damage, good mobility and good cleanse (more than on my necro lol). DH is in all honesty one of the classes that does deserve to be toned down.

If ANet has the balls to nerf their precious elite specs and other diversity-killing abominations like durability runes and the new stat sets, that’s to be determined, but I’m not expecting anything, particularly since the majority of people that would be voicing their outrage have already given up and left the game.

That will never happen because WvW for them is PvE, plus they do not have any experience at all with how WvW fights are like in large and small scale. The PvP Team for example has or can balance only through amulets, what runes are available etc. they do not have a direct influence over skills. As long as Arenanet does not have really dedicated devs in the balancing team with a passion for wvw nothing will happen, and they did never have such people.

I don´t get what the op want us to know. Is that a complaint about the power creep in hot ? Because honestly playing a druid which is one of the more ridiculous elite specs in terms of survivability and damage output and complaining about:

“some how with that high skill floor people are still terrible and you will find it most effective to build to kill bad people”

Also please this thread is silly, necro is still one of the best classes in PvP when used by decent players.

They are literally the class of choice when when it comes to dps, every ESL team had a dps necro except Never Lucky who score 100 and 50 in there 2nd and 3rd game.

Funny that you say that. A few days ago in Helseths stream he was asked about the role of the necro in spvp. He said that the role of the necro is to go on point casts his kitten, die, respawn, rinse repeat. Awesome isn´t it…

Then yesterday i watched Drazehs stream and when he was at necro he got kittented on by dh´s all game until he switched back to thief. So please don´t tell me that the necro is at a good state in pvp at the moment.

I disagree. While blocks can be useful, blinds also serves their purpose. A well timed blind can render a powerful attack useless and without the cost of forgoing an attack skill. For Necro, I would much rather use blind to negate an attack than block one.

Invulns > blocks > blind . A blind is easy the least favorable of the three. A block is a boon on you or in case of shelter a skill that gives you blocks. A blind you have to cast on your enemy. When i block i block anything in front or at the side of me, regardless who it is. A blind i have to land first on my opponent.

“4. It’s the SLOW class”
It is slow. But the longer the Necro is in the fight, the more powerful they become. But it takes time and skill to survive that long. That slowness makes for great defense, as they can take the punishment, while ramping up their power.

Slow class means no oh kitten buttons aka disengage. You go in and either you win or you die, that´s it. This is incredible boring design

“5. Not an attrition class.”
It can be. It depends on what specs you are playing. A defensive condi necro is most certainly an attrition spec. A bursty power spec is not. It largely depends on what you play, and how you play it.

If you want to know what a real attrition class is, play a druid and see for yourself.

Overall, if you know what you are doing, and not playing a cookie cutter meta with little to no understanding of how it works, or how to play it, you’re going to be a force to be reckoned with. I have tried the meta builds, and they seemed lacking. In the end I made my own build and tend to do quite well. I can hold a point for a decent amount of time. Even when being focused, as well as control the flow of battle to a surprising degree. It just takes a bit of know how and watching what the enemy is doing.

The necro is a class that can be fun if you are supported by your team mates but if you are alone or if outnumbered it can be frustrating to be the sitting duck. If i am at my dh and see how long i can survive, what i can escape and what ridiculous damage i can put out with only marauder gear, around 1200 toughness and 17k life and compare that to my nec. It´s simply laughable.

Matchups are completely broken atm. Arenanet did kitten that up big times with their world linking and too slow glicko. They are destroying WvW right now. On my server we had on wednesday at 22:00 outnumbered buff on every borderland, i can´t remember that i have seen that one time.

People don´t bother to log in anymore, if the winner of the matchup is clear immediately after reset there is no point in logging in. Unfortunately Anet is way too slow too see and react to such trends, so over the next months wvw will loose even more population. Which will lead to more linking and more imbalance and so on and so forth. Pretty sad tbh.

Yes marks are fast but if you look at the autoattack it is ridiculously slow. If i am at my dh at 1200 range with my bow and look how much damage i can do in what time only auto atacking compared to my necro, it´s laughable. And that´s not the only skill, spectral grasp and dark path are also examples for incredible slow skills.

Druid’s Celestial Avatar is affected by Moa, and all transforms in general suffer from being shutdown by Moa. So to say “no other class mechanic” is wrong.

No it´s not. Moa kicks you out of plague, lich, shroud and it kills of course all your minions. I think it´s safe to say that no other class is as much affected by this skill.

This sounds like the same problem as with some NA servers cough YB, in that they are avoiding fights to avoid PPK, because its perfectly possible to win a skirmish due to PPK whilst having a low PPT. In that case increasing PPK is not the answer.

In have never seen that to happen in eu, but of course there has to be balance, maybe through dimishing returns

I actually like that idea of 2/1/1 … never thought of that before … it basically incentives 2 servers to dominate the winning server to steal the win from them. It’s an interesting take…

Well that incentive must be pretty high then, because i have never seen that to happen. What always happens is that number two or three always attack whoever number one attacks because the matchups are simply not close enough that there is any chance for three or two to become number one so they basically only fight for the second place.

On September 9th we added Skirmishes to the game. Now that everyone has had a chance to play them, what are your thoughts on Skirmishes? If there is anything, what would you like to see changed/added?

Victory points are pointless until you fix the broken matchup system. Why should people come and fight if the matchup winner can be seen immediately after reset. If the enemy just overwhelms you with his population you loose, no matter what.

What we also have seen is that servers like vizunah which are simply terrible at fighting (look at theit k/d) can not be beaten by servers who are very good at fighting but do not have 24/7 enough population. So maybe you could strengthen the factor of a kill in the system.

We have also been investigating if adding something like a time-of-day or population-based scoring multiplier

I see you are talking about pvp, what Revenant has to say? He has litteraly no condi cleanse(if hes not going condi himself), and no stability at all, except 1 skill(if he goes dwarven), everything is in shield and evades, and you cry necro has it bad?
Necromancer has 2 evades, chills, 2freezes, 2-shot possibility if he goes full power with his shroud and litteraly two health bars while everyone else has 1.
Guard has blocks, but blocks, block 1 attack, just like blind, blinds 1 attack, onyly real difference between those is duration.

So dont cry about necros while at same time there is such sad pvp profession as revenant who can get litteraly fukd by every other class. ONYLY EXCAPTION IS when, player who plays revenant is trying to nolife it, and evades almost every hard cc made in game.

wtf ? Revenant has access to a lot of stability. With retribution / herald he has 2 stacks with every dodge roll. Combine that with sigil of energy, there you go.

And condi cleanse ?? Are you serious about that ? Mallyx revs are extremely strong, no condition damage at all, you draw conditions from allies and the more conditions are on you, the stronger resistance gets. With corruption you also have high boon removal and a chance to copy your condis to the enemy. Dude i would take a mallyx rev all day over a condi nec in my team. And i play necro since release.

Do you remember the pre HoT streams where they introduced the new specs ? I will never forget when they had the druid stream and the dev who should say something about it didn´t even know the skill and trait names of the base ranger. And there is imho the problem with GW2. The devs only know the professions from their whiteboard but they have 0 experience on the field. This guy who was in charge on the Necro, Robert Gee i think, he should practice a few months in SPvP, Fractals, WvW, maybe then he would let his idea that the necro is a giant hp sponge go and give the class some real mechanics.

I personally could probably “go pro” as a conditionmancer because all you have to do is die in the first 5 minutes of the game, die the first 2 minutes of every major teamfight, and spread conditions. Thats it. Thats actually the entire class.

It´s funny that you say that. A few days ago i watched helseth´s stream and somebody asked him about his opinion on the necro´s role in SPvP. He said that the necro´s role is, go to the point -> lay your fields -> die -> respawn, rinse repeat. Pretty sad to be honest.

They don´t understand the issue because they don´t play WvW and therefore have no clue how it feels and second WvW for them is another form of PvE, so they don´t give a kitten about competitiveness.

They have created extremely predictable matchups by matching up single servers with linked ones and they are refusing to link some servers with the ridiculous excuse that they do not want to mix national with international servers. Somehow they seem to think that we don´t speak english….. , what an ignorant attitude. At the moment they simply destroy some national servers with this tactic. Why should people go out and fight if it is clear from the start of the matchup that you can´t win because you will never have the amount of people your enemy from the linked server has, it´s simply pointless.

WvW is in need of profession balance yes, but since Arenanet has absolute no clue how WvW works, who plays WvW and what professions are at what level, how will they be able to balance things ? This will be the same random knee jerk buff and nerf show how it has always been. I would say more stealth and invulns across the board with the exception of the necro and of course a huge buff to the extremely underpowered dragon hunt_rd.

I follow your point.

I just fail to understand how a player of that skill level would require the builds off metabattle.

I’m not saying my build is the best. Perhaps it’s not. But I doubt that everything is so unbelievably narrowed to an elegant game of rock paper scissors.

Is it really so narrow at that level of play, that a single trait choice can be the difference? A single utility choice? Is it really so limited that the only necro is conditi reaper?

Why is that?

Bad balance?

Or does the community only trust the builds of tournament winners?

Are you saying it is impossible to counter a meta build?

Or that those counters are only available on patch day before they become meta.

Don´t watch those videos, they won´t do you any good. Most people are not on a level where animation cancelling plays any role. GW2 is a game with almost no build diversity unfortunately and therefore yes in a way it is rock paper scissors, but what is rock today may be paper in six months thanks to the ultimate great wisdom of the Anet balance team. So if you want to play at a certain level you have to play certain professions with certain builds. So the question you should ask yourself is, do i really want to dive into the competitive scene or do i just want to have fun.

It´s not Anets fault that people want to move, that is i think natural and has always been that way. But it is clearly Anets fault to let them move unhindered. They could have easily implemented some method to prevent that bandwaggoning but they either did not forsee it or were too greedy because they want to sell gems. Either reason is a joke and only shows how distracted they are from their own game when it comes to wvw.

Honestly, I don’t understand how people can complain that having more people in the game is a problem when you actually need other people to fight with. How people think it’s fun to walk for 30 minutes in a borderland without seeing a single soul. To be able to solo T3 towers and keeps because there is nobody in the map to even check why it’s contested.

Well that depends, Arenanet created a major imbalance between worlds and favored bandwaggoning, a factor from which they earned a lot of money because of gem sales by the way. By creating matchups where you can tell the winner immediately after reset makes wvw as boring as without people. And as it stands now, sometimes yes, you simply can´t roam because the population imbalance is so big that enemy zergs from one server are on each borderland so switching does not help.

The problem is that the performance of ESO in large fights is way worse than it is here, it was almost unplayable with the lag and skill delay. So i guess our next alternative will be either Crowfall or CU.

They already earn a ton of money with wvw, look at all the bandwaggoning their stupid server linking created. How many gems have been purchased only for transfers…….. Has that made wvw any better ? No, they made it worse than ever, population is broken, at least in EU, their glicko or whatever tech they use is not working, matching 3 server worlds to 1 server worlds etc. etc. etc. No, giving them more money through gem purchases won´t do any good. Instead we should vote with our wallet and stop purchasing anything from them until they let their attitude go and start to take wvw players serious.

For the most part, I save emoting or siege burials for those really special individuals that I see doing it to everyone else

Always good to let people try their own medicine, maybe they learn something from it. But honestly, imo the behaviour on the battlefield got worse over the years. I can remember times where guild fight´s ended with emotes of respect for each other or if you had a 1v1 and some people inced, got you down, your initial enemy bowed and apologized. Nowadays there is less sportsmanship unfortunately.

You’re in a bad matchup this week, the 7th and 8th ranked servers fighting the 1st ranked server in t2, bad roll, suck it up and try and find your fun elsewhere till friday. Everyone has gone through matches like these.

For us it´s the 3´rd week in a row we get such kittened matchups mate, first against vizunah, and then 2 times fsp. You don´t suck that up then, people have every right to complain

The root cause of the bug is still being investigated. Until this can be fixed, scoring the end of the week’s round has been changed back to using accumulated War Score, instead of the new Victory Points.

We’ll have a fix for this as soon as possible, and will look into what will be done with affected Glicko ratings and EU’s current matchups. Until then, one thing that’s known is that not ranking the end of a round by Victory Points prevents this bugged behavior where a round ends, then ends again 5 minutes later.

And you expect us to basically do nothing in wvw for another week because we get outblobed the moment we move our kitten from the spawn ? Because of your kittenty tech it´s the third week kodash has such matchups, first against the vizunah 3 server world and now the second time against fsp. No word of resetting matchups again just investigating and looking into the issue, that´s not a solution ! Get professional, fix your game finally and reset the matchups.

Anet already said they needed us as a counter to the french, and i can see that what they were predicting for top 3 was a FSP – Piken – Jade Sea MU. But im pretty sure we can all already predict the out come of a Match up between FSP – Piken – Jade Sea.

Yep not a bad idea from Anet, but why for god´s sake don´t they let you fight the french then ? I don´t know if that´s bad programming, an i don´t give a kitten attitude or some trolling because they basically kitten on national servers anyway.

That´s how it looks like when Arenanet tries to create “interesting matches” . As always they kittening failed, it´s ridiculous. A lot of people don´t even log in at all or only for a few minutes until they see that either FSP or BB (at night) has their mega zone blobs everywhere and simply go offline. This is not fun and if Arenanet does not start to handle that in a way more professional way, it will damage the wvw community in the long run. But they don´t even dare to come here to say something, really the worst handling of problems from a company i´ve ever seen.

corpse jumping, laying siege on corpses, whispering enemies after dying, tbh. everything signs of a really pitiful character. I never get the kittens spamming whispers, emotes and jumps on corpses. Winning in GW2 is more often than not a matter of the dumbest cheeese build and not of personal skill anyway.

stealth as Arenanet implemented it ist the most kittened mechanic ever. It requires no skill, no awareness, no nothing. You can stand in front of somebody, press a button and vanish. Prior to reveal skills without a counter (no aoe dmg is not a counter, hands down). In other games stealth is only one tool among others assassin classes have. In Warhammer for example you could not stealth in front of an enemy, you had to be in their backs or at least at the side, damage revealed you and you could not restealth if somebody hitted you, no permastealth through stacking etc. etc. so you needed to have some kind of awareness when to use it and when not to, typically only as an opener. Trapper Rune is not the problem, it´s the mechanic how stealth work here. regardless if it is a thief, a mesmer, a druid, a scrapper, etc. etc. etc. And the worst thing is that a few classes like the thief are build around this stupidity, which means you can´t rework stealth without reworking the classes built around them. That will never happen in the sorry state the game is and even if they decided to do it, i would have zero trust in the people involved in class design.
