yeah i agree dragonite is a problem in WvW, but the best source of dragonite takes about 5-10 min (except lyssa) for 30, so its not really that big a deal. Hopefully they figure an objective or something that gives you dragonite aside from smc.
Why not simply increase the amount we get from keeps? I mean I took Bay last night and only got 3 dragonite. Thats clearly too little.
The skill lag in WvW is not Anet’s fault. It is a core latency problem in distributed system and latency between network nodes and the client/server side.
Of course its their fault through a combination of:
- lack of sufficient hardware,
- failure to properly cap the maps at a level the servers can support,
- a combat engine that is clearly not optimised, and
- development that clearly does not take the hardware limitations into account.
its not a team, its a server and its a place thats meant to house all players from level 1 to level 80. People expecting everyone on there server to pass some arbitrary bar are fools.
I dunno about your server but my server is a team, all, or at least mostly, working for the good of the server.
you are a more likely to rally off the low skill player than the exotic guy.
Not in T1 battles. I’ve experienced them as an upleveled as well as in full tiered exotics (now with some ascended weapons) and from personal experience it makes a difference.
And as has been discovered, coverage leads to queues which risks your chances of even completing the achievements. It all balances out really.

Don’t agree. Everyone had equal opportunity to move to whatever server they felt would offer them the greatest challenge, and, if rewards were key to gameplay, server league position. Medium population servers were actually free to transfer to for that week.
So we were supposed to pay whatever amount we have to move and move away from our server mates and guildies to the server we considered had the best chance of winning?
As has been discussed winning is only really representative of coverage so how is it fair that significant rewards are based on that?
We’re not talking about yellows and greens, where the difference compared with ascended is pretty big. The jump from rare to exotic is the largest stat jump in the game, relatively speaking.
So stat increases do make a difference?
no one can insist on anything in GW2 ascended gear can look like whites, and you cant even inspect, you can also ping any gear just from having the codes. Not only this, but WvW is an open field where you can go wherever you want. Elitists are going to be elitist,
Its not about being elitist its about giving your team the best chance to win. Its about not being the one to die in the middle of a battle and allowing large numbers of the opposing players to rally. These guys have done the theorycrafting on it.

I think insisting on exotics is pretty convincing that it doesn’t make a difference to them.
Strawman, once ascended becomes more available you can bet they will be insisting on ascended. Why care about someone in yellows or greens if it makes no difference?
Leagues might have brought in new blood but I can pretty much guarantee they too will be chased away from caring about the score board and probably this mode or game in general once they find out how WvWvW wins really work.
By and large they are only achievement hunters and will be gone once obtaining the achievements. There’s already been some saying so on here.
no i did. i just don’t care since i dont have a que. most people didn’t stack their server with recruitment efforts don’t have a que thats why most don’t care. you created your own problem so people tend to not have sympathy.
I used to be on a T4/5 server, it had queues on reset, from what I understand servers at that level still have queues on reset so it is a problem for more than just the T1 servers.

You dont believe in advantages, but WvW is all about advantages. gear is one of the smallest advantages you can get in WvW. If this is a sticking point for you, you will hate WvW with a passion.

If you play WvW enough, you should be drowning in ascended materials to the point that not making the gear is a matter of choice, not inability.
Not dragonite ore. And the mats are more than just the dust, ore and shards, you need 5 types of wood and ore etc etc.

id say if your goal is getting an ascended weapon you can probably get 1 per week if you play 12 hours a week through normal play. so probably 5 weeks to get 5 weapons if your taking it easy.
If you dont want to use the gold you earn in wvw on wvw, well then you just dont want to spend

Totally agree. All the folks who are not experiencing any Q issues are now taking the opportunity to gleefully say “told ya so” or “move to a lower pop server” etc. when the real issue is that the Q’s are not working as intended (seemingly random instead of first to Q first to get in a map) – and that the Devs knowing this problem exists did not address it before the expected new flood of achievement hunters from across the game into WvW with their new WvW Season Update.

Obviously fixing this dropped down (or off) the priority list, since the frequency of queues diminished quite a bit by that time, but someone at Anet should have seen this coming when they came up with the Leagues idea and maybe more impactful … adding Achievements.

Yes and players accept that but you should do everything you can to reduce factors that contribute to this inequality.
Point is, Exotics were pretty hard to get at start too, if you look at the controlled means of getting exotics, and times to obtain them, you see it was never meant to be as easy as it is now.
Quotes from anet before launch show otherwise AND they pretty quickly implemented means of obtaining karma after launch that allowed players to quickly gear up from the Orr temples as soons as they hit 80.

It was a hypothetical period given for gearing up a character fully in ascended with 5 weapons.
The principle remains I would have to spend whatever period it is grinding for mats or grinding for gold for those mats given the price of every single mat required has gone up to silly levels.
Thing is ascended weapons or not you’ll still spent those 5 months playing the same thing! Thats not counting that you’re likely to get ascended weapon drops too in those 5 months which might save you a month in an instant.
1. I would spend those 5 months drastically differently (and more enjoyably) if not for ascended weapons.
2. I have killed Tequatl many times, have killed hundreds of bosses, WvW lords etc and have not had 1 ascended drop. I have guildies in the same boat.
I for one do not like it. This is just the first of what will surely be many more universal skills to come. If we start adding universal skills, then what is the point of having professions?

You can get rares/exotics from:
-Dungeon vendors
-Karma
-Crafting
-Map exploration
-WvWing
-Doing world bosses gives you 1 rare guaranteed per boss killed
-Mystic forging junk drops (although admittedly, thats a bad one)
-Just as dropsI mean, they really can’t do more except just shoving it in your face.
In terms of exotics at launch each one of those methods was a grind in itself except for map exploration but then you would have to be very lucky to get the exotic you wanted for that.
To be honest, Ascended gear makes pretty much no difference in WvW. The game mode has so many forms of imbalance that adding a minuscule stat difference changes nuts all.

Doesn’t matter if it is fundamental or not the costs as separate. Such as I could say it cost me 200g to make 1 ascended weapon.
In purely cash terms if you only ever make 1 then yes it cost you 200g. Its not deceptive.
You can think of it like an investment if you want, but in cash terms it still costs you 200g.
Ascended weapons do not cost 200g to make. It takes about 200g to go from 400 to 500 crafting thou. But once you reach 500 crafting you can make a large number of ascended weapons without worry. I got 3 ascended weapons already and can easily make more if I so choose. Ascended are not hard to get at all. Hell sometimes they are easier to get than exotic (amulets for instance).
Crafting ascended weapons is the only reason to go from 400 to 500 therefore it is a fundamental part of the cost of ascended.
The numbers aren’t important with the gap is small, it’s the execution by the players that will determine the outcome.

Although, exotics are VP as well and required a certain amount of grind to obtain too. Yet nobody had an issue with that only because it was that way when the game launched.
Wrong, I for one had a problem with obtaining exotics at launch (before karma jugs were added) and I know others did as well. However obtaining exotics at that point was not as bad as obtaining ascended now.

Thats a problem with the living story content then and the solution is not to add an asc weapon grind but to improve the living story content.
If you do the math using the calculators, statistically the difference on a berserker gear (weapon + trinkets) ascended vs exotics is ~ 6%. in Condition gears the difference is way less!
And others have calculated the difference to around 13% which is significant.
Everyone likes to say Anet took the easy way out. I think they took the pragmatic way out. It’s really easy to tell people what to do when you’ve invested $80 (or even a few hundred) and they’ve invested millions.
I’d be more receptive to them if they were actually fully transparent about why they they made these decisions, and not come out with statements about still adhering to the manifesto which they even said again recently IIRC.
Transfer to a low tier server, problem solved. I’ve never seen a queue in 20 something weeks and it’s still fun down here.
Whilst I agree that those who transferred to a T1 server have got to live with the queues there is still the issue that anet have admitted that the queue system is bugged and doesn’t function like a normal queue system. That is the real issue
The dedicated support class has better defense than the dedicated DPS class? What a shock.

Please explain how you “accidentally lagged” into the tower 4 or 5 times yet no JQ or BG “accidentally lagged” in the tower. In fact, no other SoR “accidentally lagged” into the tower.
You would think SOMEONE would have the same problem at some point. No, just you. I would just love to hear your theory of how you are the only guild effected by this.
They have, this is a well known issue.
All of grinding in this game is very easy except legendaries. You can craft an ascended instead if you just want the stats. Zero grinding = getting bored of the game in several weeks,
Whether its easy or not is irrelevant, its tedious and not good gameplay.
And like I said above, my best time in the game was largely before all this time gating and grind was introduced and I was able to experiment with characters and builds through the different parts of the game. When we have new content every 2 weeks why should we get bored?
This thread is more relevant than ever given the sharp increase in lag in the last 2 days. You guys have to come up with something fast because WvW has been verging on unplayable the last 2 days with the lag.
I´m glad they fixed the other issues first, because culling was much worse, than queueing is.
Culling was fixed months ago, queues should have been right after that on the priority list.
Queues will be fixed as part of the new map. They will continue to operate as they have since launch until then. The queue does not function as a typical queue and we are fixing it. It will just take some time. It has been a lower priority than the other things we have done and we’ve only now been able to devote the appropriate resources to it.
Hang on, this is a fundamental issue that has possibly affected the outcome of matches and its a lower priority?? Lets just say your priorities are skewed incorrectly then.
And you say it doesn’t function like a normal queue, well how does it function and why doesn’t it function like a normal queue? We’re the ones queuing we deserve to understand why the queue functions like it does.

Here is a modified post of mine from another thread:
my best time in the game was early this year before world XP was introduced in WvW and when the events in Orr hadn’t been nerfed. I had karma to outfit my l80s, I was easily able to experiment builds and easily gear up for new builds and just play and experiment to my hearts content. I had to make sure I did dailies and monthlies for laurels but whilst they were something of a job it wasn’t that bad. I was able to use some mats to make some vanity weapons like abyssal scepter and the anomaly.
Now I have to do dailies and monthlies, I have to do my daily ascended crafting, I have to make sure I mine my quartz and convert it to charged quartz, I have to farm for mats required for ascended crafting in Orr and other areas or grind for gold to buy them. I’m restricted in the builds I can experiment with cause BiS is so hard to get.
I’m restricted in terms of what characters I can use in WvW because to maximise the rather large benefits from WXP being character bound I can only use 2 to 3 characters (out of the 8 level 80s I now have).
Everything is a job or we’re restricted from playing how we want, and anet aren’t learning eg. the new candy corn node which is a repeat of the quartz node.
Elementalist: increase base health, the low base health is a relic form the days before launch when it had high damage. Now ele is considered a support class its base health should have been taken into consideration as part of the class balancing.

Just to go into further detail. When crafting Recipe: Gift of Souls, it will require 40 Bottles of Elonian Wine, 10 Candy Corn Cobs, 10 Piles of Crystalline Dust, and 10 Tyria’s Best Nougat Centers. That is just to craft the actual recipe for gift of souls.

SoS has had the attitude let chips fall where they may and do the best since we started to rebuild. We have seen some blatant 2v1 this matchup but chalked it up to usual part of the game. But here is some proof of SoR helping SBI. Apparantly 25 + SoR in SBI Ts3 coordinating with guilds from SBI to doubleteam SoS. How kittened is that? If SoR wanted to push SoS they have enough people by themselves. lol. No honor amongst them both.

Its rather a bummer to read this. Things have just started to settle down at my job now that we’ve released some of the new healthcare stuff (not the government one) and I had missed Teq’s event. I’m hoping to go back and get a chance at him, but if its so dead that will prove frustrating probably.
