You can only have one server for your account.
For PvE you can select “join mulch in queensdale” or wherever after joining group with someone from another server.
If you transfer your account to Tarnished Coast, all your characters will be on Tarnished Coast.
Just gotta wonder, how long ya plan to play GW2.
If it’s just a short time, $50 of gems maybe wasn’t a great use of your money. Cuz you could have a night out, instead. Or bought a console game.
Getting gems with in-game gold, right now, is stupid good deal. Yesterday it was just a couple gold for a character slot. If RL $$ is scarce for you, buy it with in-game.
really don’t need to bring wtf hell and Christ, etc, into what’s user error
So much this problem is that the interact key is undifferentiated.
Let’s us break the functions apart, so that we can spam a loot-all key without getting stuck rezzing some RP-er’s dead pet.
Have so many keys unbound. Let us bind one for rez player that’s separate from revive NPCs and Pets.
This issue is better solved with more choices, not fewer.
The queues for WvW really are dreadful.
There’s a bit of problem I’ve seen in people I play with, that leveling up went sooo fast in WvW, yet was all pretty much the same play, same (very large) 2 maps, and don’t really care to go back to complete pve zones, so…
I guess you could say, “you made your bed, sleep in it.” I think you also have to keep in mind, if something’s not fun, then for heaven’s sake, don’t do it. There’s no subscription. If you’re done with GW2, then be done with it. Don’t want to grind dungeon sets when you already have top gear? then don’t.
Didn’t check Metrica yet, but saw they’ve been removed from the vendor Arias in Caledon Forest.
Seriously, I would spend gems to be able to separate “Loot” from “Interact”
I didn’t want to grab your %^&* banner. sigh
bad math is bad — impossible to tell from this.
(how is 50 attacks per minute 1.2 attacks per second?)
It’s really gonna depend on the 2-5 skills, your traits, and your gearing choices. A straight-up look at auto-attack will misrepresent.
The charr starting area has the deepest development. Asura and Sylvari lands seem a lot less complete to me.
Race, aside from the racial elites, doesn’t matter much in terms of game play. All characters have the same stats.
In terms of first profession to select, I’m going to give a different answer —
You can make one of any character you think you might be interested in. Then go to sPvP area, and actually play it with full level 80 abilities and gear. You won’t be practiced at it yet, but you’ll be able to see what life at 80 will be.
Some professions start slow and get better (mesmer comes to mind as a low damage-output to start). Some professions are better than others if you’re intent on being a stand-in-one-place sort of player.
Suggest Ranger as one that’s most like what you’ve played in other games, very easy to play competently.
The maps I’ve played on so far all have a lot of ways to make sure you’re “obstructed” from a ranged attacker, in addition to the usual things (evade, move, shield, …).
The big ranged damage seem to take some time, so don’t be there when it comes.
Is it true there can be only one character with each name in the whole set of worlds?
Or are names unique only to the world you rolled on?
In a different game, when you wanted a character name change, you could transfer to a shard where you (or someone) already had a character with your name, and you’d be prompted to select a new one. And then, after the waiting period, transfer back. With GW2’s guesting, you’d hardly notice you were gone!
I think they’re awesome fun. They are tuned to reward a cooperative/organized group. Don’t think I’d care to try it without VOIP.
I think melee in GW2 is awesome. Of course I have a range weapon, too.
Stack toughness and vitality for better survival, for when you oops. Mobs rarely hit you unexpectedly if they’re not facing you, so keep circling.
I’ve seen characters parked in locations where dynamic events spawn in a rapid constrained patterns (not very dynamic, eh). The characters have a skill on autofire, and are just parked to keep doing the same event over and over.
It’s possible to do it with just a normal keyboard/mouse and the standard GW2 ui.
Is it against the rules?
I know it’s cheesy — what I want to know is if it’s bannable/reportable.
(pardon if the Q’s been asked before. I did a forum search and came up empty)
WvW, when done right, is the absolute best experience-gaining in the game. It depends on being with an organized group that’s taking objectives. If you’re running around solo, then you’re not going to get much, and just feed the zergs.
sPvP is fun and easy to advance. I did sPvP just while waiting for the queue to get into WvW, and gained a couple levels. It’s also a great (free) way to test out characters and builds at 80, as you come with a full set of gear, all the skills, and free trait respecs.
Is there anything to do besides completing Hearts and participating in events to gain exp?

I have just the opposite problem, that my characters level quicker than I can finish the zones.
Note that often if you talk to an NPC, you’ll get some hints where/what to do.
You have LOTS of choices how to level, and how to play.
For me, the renown hearts are meh, so I pass a lot of them by.
I made some errors like that, myself. The gear is outgrown, so replace it. Only to find that it was a look you’d like to use transmutation stones to wear going forward.
I don’t know ways to replace, and the other graphics of pve gear is pretty horrible til 35+
I vote to bring a party-mate or two. The missions never take too long and are fairly interesting if you’re not on the same story.
What guildmates are for.
